My dog had broken her leg and was in the animal hospital following surgery on her leg. Being a very large Russian wolfhound, we needed something more than an Uber Pet for her ride home from the hospital. When I called K9 Cars, I was pleasantly surprised to reach a human who was able to schedule the ride and assure me what kind of vehicle would be provided- a large carpeted van. This was exactly what my hard-to-transport broken legged girl needed. Not only did K9 Cars arrive on time, they were early. This allowed us to get her directly into the van from the hospital gurney with no waiting, which was perfect. The van also had enough room in the back for my husband to be right next to my girl to reassure her during the ride. Tony, our driver, couldn't have been kinder, which was reassuring after the trauma of her hospital stay (no fault of the hospital- it's just that breaking a leg is awful). I asked Tony to bring me and my mom to Laguardia and back in order to pick up our 14 week old german shepherd puppy. I based my choice to call him purely on these yelp reviews and Im SO glad I did. Tony was on time, polite and just down right kind. He's a truly great guy with a very professional and welcoming attitude towards his job and passion for helping animals. I gave him only 2 days notice and he was able to get back to me so quickly that we were able to work everything our in terms of pickup time and all other details, I even messed up and had to basically double my travel time in order to be picked up and he still accommodated us. My new puppy had not one or two but Three accidents in his car (luckily I was able to catch most of them with a puppy pad) but he was understanding and kind in the middle of me freaking out a bit. Pet Chaffeur was $75 plus tip and K9 Cars cost $40 plus tip. I SAVED $35 by choosing K9. Will use the service again and recommend others. I docked 1 star, because the driver got honked at for cutting people off three or four times in the ride. Felt mostly safe, but I'd rather the driver wasn't aggressive. With dogs aboard, the less likelihood of an accident, the slower the pace, the least jerky the turns and stops, the better. Don't get me wrong, I didn't feel unsafe. BOTTOM LINE: Please don't hesitate and just book K9 Cars!! You won't regret it. I wish this rating system allowed more than 5 stars because I would rate K9 Cars 100 stars if I could! Tony was absolutely amazing. He quoted me a price that was about half of what other services were charging for an airport pickup. When I found out I wasn't able to change the receiver name for my cats, he came and picked me up from my home before heading to the airport. He arrived exactly on time and was cheerful and friendly the whole way. When we got to the airport, we were told we had to wait, which he was happy to do, and he even tried to get status updates for me as time went by. Eventually we were told that the cats were on another flight, at which point I lost it at the cargo staff, but Tony calmed me down and reassured me that he would come back the next day, and even emailed me to follow up later in the day. Again the second time, Tony was prompt, and this time we got the cats with no dramas. He genuinely loves what he does, has a great sense of humour and has exceptional customer service. I made a cross country move with my 65 lb. dog. I needed to get him, me and the ginormous crate to the airport. I had about a million things coming and going and Tony was so patient answering all my Qs and promptly returned my emails. I have never traveled with my dog via air before so I was a bit stressed. Tony showed up right on time, retrieved the huge crate from my lobby and loaded it in his very clean, very spacious van. The drive was easy, conversation was pleasant and my dog relaxed on the very spacious back floor with me seated next to him. I honestly could not recommend Tony and K9 Cars enough! Tony was wonderful throughout the entire experience. If I could give him 10 out of 5 stars, I would in a heartbeat. I was a very nervous and frazzled first time dog mom trying to coordinate travel to take my Scout home from the ACC after he was put on the risk list and I had less than 24 hours to plan everything. His flexibility was invaluable to me. He not only responded to my emails insanely fast but also gave me his personal cell number to text when I was able to pinpoint the exact time we needed to be picked up mere hours before the pickup time. He was also prompt and very personable. We weren't able to leave on time due to paperwork at the center and he was very patient in waiting for us to be finished. He has plenty of space in his vehicle for large animals as well as small ones, whether in a crate or just on a leash. We were in a Dodge Caravan with the middle seats taken out and a rubber rug on the floor. Scout was able to walk around between both windows to look around as well as lay down when he wanted to and I feel like it really eased some of the anxiety he was experiencing. Tony's love of animals really shines through. He immediately took to my Scout (who is a pitbull mix and the mere sight makes people run in the opposite direction sadly) and checked on him throughout the entire ride to make sure he was okay. Also, he donates a portion of all of his earnings to Rides 4 Rescues and partners with them as well! I was so happy with this entire experience, he has a customer in us for as long as we live in New York! Seriously, if you're trying to find a car service for your pet, you can trust Tony and K9 Cars. Tony took me and my dog to the airport yesterday, and it was great. It was a stressful experience to drop my dog off at a cargo building, but he knew where we were going, helped me every step of the way, and was unfailingly kind and patient with my dog. My dog, her huge crate and me all fit very comfortably in his pristine van (he actually helped me set pickup time to get to the airport), and he's a better driver than, say, 95% of cab drivers in the city. Seriously, no brake-hitting every two minutes! No lurching forward! A rarity. After negative experiences with car services agreeing to transport my pit bull & me to the vet, etc., for an extra fee, and then listening to them whine that we left dog-hair on the seat (duh! What was the damn surcharge for?), I found K9 Cars on the web. It was the best experience I've ever had transporting any of my dogs, and I cannot recommend K9 Cars highly enough. Tony (the owner) could not have been more helpful or cooperative. When you call him, you will usually get voice mail, but do leave a message: he returns your call & proceeds to work with you to make sure you get exactly the service you need. I needed to take my dog to ASPCA on 5/1/2011 to be neutered. Making the round-trip reservation was a snap. Then, on the day before, the facility changed my appointment. Tony was fully understanding, and changed the pick-up and return times with no problem. He arrived at my building ahead of time, and when it was time to bring Jet home, he was at ASPCA ahead of time again, waiting patiently for us to come out. He could not have been more helpful, and knew the very best way to get Jet into the vehicle in his medicated stupor with a fresh surgical wound. Tony has been around animals a long time, and transports all types. He really loves and knows animals, and understands their needs and anxiety, and knows just what to do to make the whole experience as easy on your pet as possible. The rates are very reasonable, well within the range of average NYC car service. The vehicle is roomy and clean, and Tony makes very pleasant conversation during the ride (or none at all, if that's what you prefer). Jet is only 15 months old, so I have years of his companionship ahead of me. I can assure you, for every transportation he will need in the future, I will call K9 Cars. I'd originally booked with a different pet taxi service and on the day of my flight, the driver/owner was hospitalized and connected me to Tony. So glad she did! Tony was excellent- prompt in contact, as well as follow up via email and phone. He requested my flight details and was proactive in letting me know that he'd check on flight status and that he'd adjust our departure time based on whether the flight was ontime. He was actually about 15 minutes early for pickup (texted just to let me know that he was already there, in case I wanted to get an earlier start). The car was clean and the mini-van was gloriously easy to load. Tony was very friendly and we chatted the whole way to the airport. He was also super nice despite my dog's extreme car anxiety (which normally pushes drivers, myself included, into a murderous rage...)! When we got to the airport, he helped with loading up a luggage cart with all of my gigantic bags as well as the crate (which I didn't think was possible). Extremely professional and helpful. Also, I dropped my cell phone in his vehicle. He promptly contacted me via email and contacted my friend to let them know that I'd dropped the phone and to ask what I wanted him to do with the phone. Our driver arrived a little early for our AM ride into Manhattan, and was so accommodating, assuring us that we could take our time getting down to meet her (I don't her name unfortunately). The car was awesome, the back seat was stowed so there was a big open space for our dog to rest comfortably and there was a back-back seat where we could sit. We had an issue that caused us to have to change our return ride time and Tony went out of his way to rearrange his schedule and fit us in. Again, our return ride was totally smooth and we could not recommend K9 Cars more highly, they are very professional, friendly and you can tell they love what they do.
