They need to hire new property managers and whoever is running it now needs to go. It's a total lipstick on a pig place. They have a nice pool and grounds, and furnishings , but the whole place needs to be redone from the inside out. The hotel management doesn't seem to care about offering clean bathrooms as the one we stayed in had mold in it and the tile was so worn down that a KOA campground would have been cleaner than what we got. The carpets smell really bad and mildewy, the stove is original and is rusting , the beds are super stiff. Management is not interested in taking action or true accountability and lightly cared about the condition of the room when it was addressed to them. The only thing going for it is its closeness to the beach and the pool. It has a lot of potential but the owners/management don't seem to care. Oh and the hotel front desk people leave about an hour after check-in so if you have issues with your room, you have to wait till the next day when they return. It's the kind of place that probably has bed bugs , glad we didn't stay long. read more

If you are expecting a 4 Seasons or W hotel this is not it. If you want a clean comfortable condo steps from Napili and want to be out adventuring all day- this is the spot. We definitely got the best room -216. One bedroom with a day bed . A full lanai that wrapped around the entire condo. Perfect place to sit and enjoy the views and keep surfboards. The ocean view was actually very good for a "partial" view. One of the best parts was the Islands Vibes cafe! Great food, snow cones, smoothies, açaí bowls and coffee. If you can't get there by 8:00 am I would suggest online ordering - it got really busy 9:00-later. The Gazebo restaurant is steps away as well for the best breakfast ever. I brought quarters from home (which I would suggest because office hours limited and you can buy single boxes of Tide for 1.25 at ABC store), to do laundry. Great having a laundry machine. The condo very clean, just bring amenities like salt, pepper, Olive spray etc if you plan on cooking. Such a great low key vibe in the village. Oh and Snorkel Bobs right there to get all water needs. We can't wait to come back. One note- there are no TVS so we brought our projector and fire-stick and used bed sheets as a screen to watch all our Netflix shows at night. read more

I know this is a small family-owned property but I can't recommend it. I'm the kind of person who wipes down surfaces when I arrive and keeps all the food in the fridge. Not quite halfway through my stay I found a roach on the kitchen floor, just a few feet from my bed. There is only housekeeping twice a week, and no one at the front desk after 4:30 or on weekends. I texted them and asked to be moved to another room. They said all they could offer was housekeeping to come by and a refund if I wanted to leave. And maybe I let the roach in? And oh, they'd be out of cellphone range for hours. I debated staying but ended up moving to an outrageously expensive alternative, which kept me up at night for different reasons, but at least it was clean and I didn't have to worry about anything crawling into my bags or my bed.. There are better alternatives with windows that block sound and a/c that doesn't have black mold surrounding it. read more

I will start with the 3 pluses. 1. Water pressure in shower good. 2. Wi-Fi worked. 3. 167 yards from beach access. All the rest is pretty awful and abusive. I was in a bind and desperate for a room to join my friend for a few rounds of golf. Not my kind of place, but I went into it with an adventurous spirit. The first sign of trouble were all the emails outlining ALL the rules. So many rules that basically had my Spidey sense going off the map. Was this a hotel? It was shaped like a motel, but read like a crazy stay at your eccentric aunt's house. The check in (narrow window) was a non-event and my first glimpse of the room was resigned but hopeful. Not sure what material the bed was, but it was purely made for long term prison-level sleeping. There was a horrific metal chair sitting in the middle of the room that looked like a James Bond torture device. Stains all over the mushy couch. Rips like a tiger had assaulted the lanai. I kept my counsel. Bought a bottle of bourbon to get me to sleep after my rounds each night and I survived. After reading the other reviews, I would not want to take anything away from someone who actually enjoyed the room, but I don't know what they are talking about. Beware! This hotel does not care if your plans need to change due to COVID! They will not answer emails or phone calls! We've tried to reschedule or cancel for at least a week and no one will talk to us. They gave us the runaround that since our reservation had 'already started' despite us trying to cancel at least a week before our reservation started. They keep saying a supervisor will call us and no one ever calls. Now they are saying they have no availability for our new travel dates and there's nothing they can do. I was going to let this place slide for the lack of amenities considering the price. But you end up paying way more than expected with all the fraudulent charges that they put on your card after you check out. Charged me an additional $250 after I checked out. I noticed it at the the airport but didn't call until I landed back in California. When I called I was told in an extremely rude manner that I was being charged for leaving the room a mess. The extremely rude lady told me that I left "food on the table." Wow. If anything was left it could have been a leftover cookie or something, definitely not worth a $250 charge. When I disputed the charge with Napili Village Management the extremely rude lady told me that they would not return my money and that I could call whoever I needed to. And then hung up. Good thing my bank resolved the issue after investigating and realizing that Napili Village placed fraudulent charges on my account. This review is for unit #25. As the other units vary somewhat I think. We arrived after hours and were able to find the key and info for the unit very easily. The unit itself was clean and in great shape. I especially liked the walk in shower. You cannot see the ocean from this unit, as it faces the pool/courtyard which was not that big of a deal for us. Napili bay beach is in my opinion one of the best beaches on Maui. It is no more than a 4 minute walk from the unit. The price are competitive and staff is friendly. If I'm ever in Maui again I will definitely stay here. read more

The room was clean and modern, but there were a lot of little things that detracted from being a great vacation spot. The good things: The staff was wonderful. The pool was great. And the price was very good. The gardens were awesome and we loved looking out at them. The things that could be improved easily: One of the beach chairs was broken, so we did not use them. There was no roasting pan or anything like it for the oven. We purchased one and left it there. There was only one comfortable indoor chair. There were two heavy metal chairs for the dining table. The daybed was stained and needed a cover. It looked like something a homeless person slept in. Would have preferred a couch. We did not need the TV, but were surprised there wasn't one. Things hard to fix: We were woken up consistently at 3:45 am by guests upstairs (above 102) who made a huge amount of noise every morning for 7 mornings. This would go on until about 5 am. We got very little sleep. The indoor/outdoor carpet on the patio was torn in many places. I was afraid to walk on it barefoot as I could see splinters. Overall: We will pay a little more and go elsewhere next time. read more

We love Napili, and have stayed at this place three times for at least a week. The manager and staff have been there for decades, and they're very kid-friendly. A favorite aspect is the centrally-located pool, ringed by lush and well-manicured trees and palms, allowing a degree of privacy even when swimming. We enjoy taking a shuttle there from the airport, and don't need a rental car. There's a good bus system, terrific coastal boardwalk, and proximity to higher-end Ritz-Carlton Kapalua and restaurants, or mellower fare. Great snorkeling and a dive shop nearby, too! read more

We have stayed at Napili Village for 20 years now. Unfortunately, they are under new management now. They call themselves a hotel, however; don't expect clean bath or beach towels. You will need to wash them yourself. Also, if you need toilet paper, you will need to ask for that as well, and they provide stingily. We were forced to buy it. Trash is not cleared and left to pile up. Front office is often empty and the laundry room is often locked when you need to use it. Overall, prices have gone up and service has gone down. Disappointed this year for sure. Not sure if we will be returning next time. read more

We absolutely loved our stay at Napili Village Hotel. First, the pool/courtyard area is so incredibly beautiful. We loved sitting on our lanai (balcony) every morning and night. We actually ate most of our meals on it. Second, the location was PERFECT for us. We didn't know it at the time of our booking, but Napili Bay is less touristy than Wailea (where most of the hotels are) so it was super quiet and relaxing. We loved this and have already recommended our friends traveling to Maui stay in Napili as opposed to Wailea. There was also a small public beach a few steps away that we enjoyed sitting on at night. Second, Napili staff were amazing, I communicated with Dean mostly and he was super responsive to my texts and extremely helpful in addressing any of our needs. Our flight home wasn't until 11 PM and Dean was extremely accommodating allowing us to use the room past our check-out time so we could adventure during the day and still be able to shower prior to our flight. Then last minute we actually decided to extend our stay a few days and Dean was quick to help us do that. Lastly, we loved having a Bob's Snorkel Shop attached to the hotel. It was so convenient to be able to run down and rent some snorkel gear for the day. The guy running the shop is also extremely nice and helpful, letting us keep our snorkels a day or two extra and not charging us. The only con is the check-in process was a tad confusing and stressful after a long day of travel. We had received an email prior to our arrival detailing the check-in process: a lockbox with our room key in it would be near our door and we would use the provided code to open the lockbox. I had a feeling that wouldn't be the case, so I attempted calling a few times prior to arrival but with COVID reduced hours and staff, my calls were never answered. So when we arrived at 1 AM, there was no lockbox and the office was of course closed. We managed to get into our room by popping a window pain out but obviously that is not ideal... Apparently Dean, hotel staff, was waiting up for us and had left his number taped onto the office door (which we did not bother stopping at because it looked closed) and apologized for the email that had been sent out with outdated check-in procedures (pre-COVID). Aside from this incident, our stay was wonderful and this definitely did not ruin our trip in the least bit. I highly recommend Napili Village Hotel for the price, location, and amenities. read more

I have been coming here since I was a kid and I still love it just as much as an adult. It is truly a special place. The staff are so kind. It is peaceful and so green. Small and quaint. You feel like you are in the real Hawaii versus staying at a resort. Makes you feel like you have a little apartment and having a kitchen was amazing. We cooked some meals and also went out to eat. There are groceries and restaurants within walking distance. But would recommend renting a car just to explore the island or take a quick drive into town. The beach is one of the best. Waves can be big, but if you stay to the far left or right of the beach, it makes for much easier access into the water. You will not be disappointed! read more

Horrible customer service experience. My wife and I got COVID a week before our reservation, we contacted initially to see about rescheduling. We couldn't get a hold of anyone either on the phone or through email. When someone at the front desk did answer they told me the couldn't help me and that I need to wait to talk to a supervisor. An entire week went by without hearing from the supervisor, finally when they reached out they told us they couldn't accommodate our change of dates and that we could no longer cancel. They are charging us the full amount. It is outrageous, we tried to contact them dozens of times well within the window of opportunity to cancel a reservation but because they deliberately avoided us for a week they are hiding behind the excuse that it's "too late to cancel." Tell me, how do you propose I were to cancel on time when no one responded to my email, no one responded to my phone calls, you can't cancel on their website? The answer is that there was no opportunity. These are shady business practices meant to scam people out of their money during the pandemic. Will never stay here again. read more

Napili Village offers older individually owned approximately 400 sq.ft. apartment studio units with a good sized covered balcony. For the Napili area they offer good value. Their location while not right on the beach is a quick walk to beautiful Napili bay or even Kapalua bay. The Napili area is more green and cooler compared to areas to the South. Some of the top units have partial ocean views. Via the adjacent Mauian motel one can take a trail system all the way through Kapalua along the coast. The office staff is very helpful. They promptly repaired broken items in the room. Further they handled personal incoming and outgoing mail. Rooms are cleaned 5 days of the week. A laundry room is best used on Sunday when the cleaning staff is not using the machines to clean the linens. A load of laundry can be washed and dried for $3. Two ceiling fans in the unit negated the need to run air conditioning. Although the sound of air conditioners running in adjacent buildings and units could be noisy at times. The small kitchen was stocked well and efficient. The grounds are well maintained with many attractive plants and trees. A very basic breakfast is provided complimentary on Friday mornings. I didn't use the small pool that is between the two Napili Village buildings. A small market and paddle board rental is on the premises. A full super market is about a third of a mile away to the South. Napili Village sits on the very busy Honoapiilani Rd so there is considerable road noise especially from speeding busses, scooters, trucks, and motorcycles. It can be a bit sketchy walking along this road South of Kapalua because of the lack of adequate shoulder or side walks. Better to use the paths through other motels. Parking is first come first serve and was never a problem getting a place. A rooster right across the street provides a nice 5:30 AM alarm clock. With occupants of the units coming and going at all hours there is the sound and vibration of slamming doors and foot steps. Sometimes occupants in near by rooms would have their TVs on loud or would smoke. Free WiFi is offered, but this is a hit or miss affair more often than not very slow or non functional. AT&T 4G wireless works well from the location. A small flat screen TV with basic cable functions well. I spent five weeks at Napili Village. This extended stay did provide for a discounted nightly rate of $129. Towards the end of my stay I was counting down the days until I could move to nicer yet more expensive accommodations. Overall I would recommend stays of less than a couple weeks. read more

Perfect yet affordable little vacation apartment nestled in the middle of all the other fancy schmancy stuff by Napili Bay. It has everything you need, including a full kitchenette, and it's just a tiny hop, skip, and a jump away from Napili Bay (you just walk through the resort across the street). Because it's by a bunch of expensive resorts, you can take a relatively safe and quiet walk along the beach at any time during the day, as those resorts have paved a nice walking pathway you can use. We aren't really into staying at big resorts-- we like exploring the places we visit/vacation at and really getting to know the area... so this is more our style than, say, the Ritz. Everyone we met from the staff was nice, and they are very helpful... and it didn't feel like we were getting a forced "Aloha" from everyone. And nobody is going to try to pressure you into doing all the fancy touristy stuff Maui has to offer. It really is a nice, quiet vacation spot. If you want a very quiet vacation and don't mind a simple, tiny resort, we highly recommend Napili Village. In fact, next time my entire/extended family decides to do a huge vacation and stay in a large resort, my husband and I (along with our kiddos) are tempted to just stay here. Granted, it's tucked away and hidden from the rest of the island, but that's what you get a rental car for. ;) read more

Just checked out today. On this side of Maui, for the price, these guys are hard to beat. It's true, there may not be the bells and whistles of other resorts, but here you are truly family. Rick makes for a fantastic concierge on check-in, helping acquaint you with the island, the to-do and not-to-do - Rick and Alissa live on the property and take excellent care of it. Every time I thought I might be missing something that a larger resort could offer, I opened a cupboard and found it, or saw that it was offered in the Ohana room, where you can relax and socialize with other guests. I spent a few nights at the Napili Village on a top floor corner unit. 20% less expensive than other local options ($94/$104) and from what I heard of the others, quite the deal. The room had A/C that worked well after I rinsed the filter (I am convinced that most people don't know A/Cs have filters to rinse). The water wasn't up to my standards so I'd pick up some Aquafina for drinking and coffee. Nice little kitchenette with gas stove, tea pot, microwave. Decent shower/ bathroom. Clean room and service when you want it. wifi was a little picky, but my T-Mobile 4G worked fine so I didn't sweat it. Hard wire available for laptops/wireless access points. nice view from the deck, not a bug found which seems nice compared to another nearby A/C-less property. The only thing I didn't like was the rattle of my suitcase wheels early in the morning when I was leaving as I thought it might be rattling the neighbors. :) read more

Cute and Quaint were the words my wife used to describe this great little place. It was perfect for the two of us but would be tough for three or four as it is small. However, the space is utilized very intelligently and the units are incredibly well stocked. Everything works perfectly and we never had to use the AC once as the cross breeze and ceiling fans were excellent. The grounds are beautiful and very well maintained. The staff is wonderful. There is coffee in the Ohana every morning and even continental breakfast on Fridays. The pool and bbq area are small but adequate. The charcoal grill was simple and was a fun throwback. A barefoot walk onto the beach takes literally under one minute. Staying here was fun and gave us a different experience than our usual large resort experience, (at less than half the cost). I'm giving the Napili Village a 4 star based on a rate of $99 per night because its truly not a 4 star property in a traditional sense. We rented from a private owner and not in the units out of the rental pool so I can't comment on these rooms. The property is your typical 70's style without alot of updating but its is kept VERY clean. Yard work being done daily and the property really is a hidden jem away from your typical resorts. I would recommend a ground floor unit that opens right up to the pool area. I loved sitting on the lanai in the morning that felt like you were in a jungle with mature trees and flowering shrubs. The entire staff was very friendly and actually owned and live onsite so they are invested in the success. this property is not on the beach but is a shorter walk to the beach than most larger properties...i think about 2 minutes from door to water.
