    Roach
    Alissa S.

I know this is a small family-owned property but I can't recommend it. I'm the kind of person who wipes down surfaces when I arrive and keeps all the food in the fridge. Not quite halfway through my stay I found a roach on the kitchen floor, just a few feet from my bed. There is only housekeeping twice a week, and no one at the front desk after 4:30 or on weekends. I texted them and asked to be moved to another room. They said all they could offer was housekeeping to come by and a refund if I wanted to leave. And maybe I let the roach in? And oh, they'd be out of cellphone range for hours. I debated staying but ended up moving to an outrageously expensive alternative, which kept me up at night for different reasons, but at least it was clean and I didn't have to worry about anything crawling into my bags or my bed.. There are better alternatives with windows that block sound and a/c that doesn't have black mold surrounding it.

    Torture chair.

I will start with the 3 pluses. 1. Water pressure in shower good. 2. Wi-Fi worked. 3. 167 yards from beach access. All the rest is pretty awful and abusive. I was in a bind and desperate for a room to join my friend for a few rounds of golf. Not my kind of place, but I went into it with an adventurous spirit. The first sign of trouble were all the emails outlining ALL the rules. So many rules that basically had my Spidey sense going off the map. Was this a hotel? It was shaped like a motel, but read like a crazy stay at your eccentric aunt's house. The check in (narrow window) was a non-event and my first glimpse of the room was resigned but hopeful. Not sure what material the bed was, but it was purely made for long term prison-level sleeping. There was a horrific metal chair sitting in the middle of the room that looked like a James Bond torture device. Stains all over the mushy couch. Rips like a tiger had assaulted the lanai. I kept my counsel. Bought a bottle of bourbon to get me to sleep after my rounds each night and I survived. After reading the other reviews, I would not want to take anything away from someone who actually enjoyed the room, but I don't know what they are talking about. My wife pointed out that when there are more pics of the beach than the rooms or pool then you are in trouble. I was already committed and in trouble.

Beware! This hotel does not care if your plans need to change due to COVID! They will not answer emails or phone calls! We've tried to reschedule or cancel for at least a week and no one will talk to us. They gave us the runaround that since our reservation had 'already started' despite us trying to cancel at least a week before our reservation started. They keep saying a supervisor will call us and no one ever calls. Now they are saying they have no availability for our new travel dates and there's nothing they can do. They are robbing us of $2000.

I was going to let this place slide for the lack of amenities considering the price. But you end up paying way more than expected with all the fraudulent charges that they put on your card after you check out. Charged me an additional $250 after I checked out. I noticed it at the the airport but didn't call until I landed back in California. When I called I was told in an extremely rude manner that I was being charged for leaving the room a mess. The extremely rude lady told me that I left "food on the table." Wow. If anything was left it could have been a leftover cookie or something, definitely not worth a $250 charge. When I disputed the charge with Napili Village Management the extremely rude lady told me that they would not return my money and that I could call whoever I needed to. And then hung up. Good thing my bank resolved the issue after investigating and realizing that Napili Village placed fraudulent charges on my account. Do not book here if you like to keep your bank account secure

Very nice condo, #21. Had everything we needed, including a good price and a short walk to the beach (like less than a minute).

Breakfast service was noticeably slower, and some of the thoughtful touches we appreciated before -- like the kids club activities and special gestures -- are no longer available. The live music at the pool is also gone, which definitely changes the atmosphere. Pool service was inconsistent as well; we had to flag someone down just to order drinks, and even then the wait was quite long. On the positive side, it was great to see familiar faces still here. Eric is still around the pool and remains as welcoming as ever. The woman who served us at breakfast was lovely and had a wonderful smile, and Jenny at the spa is still here too -- she continues to be fantastic. We often sip n sunset at this outdoor bar beside the Montage pool so we can watch whales frolicking in winter. Service is always excellent and friendly, and tonight wasn't any different. Our waitress did make a mistake on the order but instantly put it right so nicely we couldn't fault her, plus we were left with an extra free drink so what was there to complain about! As it is a pool bar there is a very relaxed vibe so we can visit after snorkeling and feel perfectly dressed :) There is often a musician playing live music too. It is soooo nice to just hang out here at sunset, I suggest you do too!

We came to the Ritz-Carlton expecting the level of service and attention to detail that the brand…read moreis known for--especially considering the premium price and the fact that we're Platinum members. Unfortunately, our experience fell well short of those expectations. Our stay started with being checked into a room that hadn't even been cleaned. After bringing it to the staff's attention, they did make an effort to recover by moving us to a new room, providing $300 in resort credit, and offering us an Oasis bed at the pool, which we appreciated. However, the service inconsistencies continued throughout our stay. One evening we returned from dinner to find another couple's honeymoon welcome package--including champagne and banana bread--delivered to our room. While not a major inconvenience, it highlighted a lack of personalization and attention to detail that you simply don't expect at this level. Pool service was another disappointment. Our initial lunch order of avocado toast, poke, and carne asada tacos took over 30 minutes, and a later quesadilla order also took more than 30 minutes. The staff did comp us a round of drinks for the delay, which was appreciated, but the food itself was underwhelming and didn't justify the premium pricing. What stood out most was the disconnect between the cost of staying here and the overall experience. When you choose a Ritz-Carlton, you're not just paying for a beautiful property--you're paying for exceptional, personalized service and flawless execution. That's the standard the brand has built its reputation on. While the staff consistently tried to make things right after issues occurred, there were simply too many preventable mistakes during one stay. This is a beautiful resort with wonderful employees, but at this price point--and as Platinum members--we expected a much more polished, personalized, and consistently exceptional experience. Recovering from service failures is appreciated, but ideally, guests shouldn't have to experience so many of them in the first place.

The noise was so intense that it was impossible to rest. I had just completed a 5.5-hour flight and was extremely exhausted, but I couldn't lie down or sleep because there was constant cutting, drilling, and loud construction noise. It was unbearable. I went outside and politely asked the workers to stop or at least move the work further away from my room, but they refused. I then started recording a video to document the situation and have evidence for a review. At that point, one of the workers approached me, began threatening me, and tried to take my phone. It was a very disturbing experience. I went to the front desk and asked them to stop the situation, but they refused to help. Yes, I raised my voice out of frustration, but instead of resolving the issue, they called the police and made it seem like I was at fault. If you are looking for a peaceful and comfortable stay, please do not choose this hotel. There is no respect for guests here -- it feels like they only care about money. I struggled to get my refund back and, after a lot of effort, I finally managed to recover my money. I did not even stay there for two hours before leaving. Honestly, when I left, I felt relieved and happy knowing I would never return to this place again. As for the rooms, there was a very strong smell of mold. I did not see visible mold, but the odor was overwhelming the moment I opened the door. The photos make the rooms look spacious, modern, and well-maintained, but in reality, they are small, worn out, and the furniture looks old and used. That moldy smell is something I will never forget.
