The Barg or beef chunks were inedible. The chicken was decent. The Napoleon was delicious. All in all the food wasn't great but acceptable for a quick eat. Kabobi is located on the right side of the Crabtree mall food court. They have a good variety of middle eastern dishes. I tried the chicken and had tabouli with it and some good sweet tea. I love the flavor and tenderness of the chicken, but would not get the tabouli again, it was just ok. I am not a fan of eating in a food court, as it is somewhat noisy and sometimes dirty tables, but it was worth it for the good chicken. Very nice people there, good prices and fast service. I enjoyed my meal at Kabobi today. I'm thankful that they are in the food court for those who are following a special diet or Halal. With so many fried and overly processed foods in abundance, you can rely on Kabobi for a affordable wholesome meal. The reason many people choose unhealthy food, is because of the cheaper price, however, you will pay in poor health. I enjoyed the customer service from the manager. He discussed the vegetarian options with me. I decided on the chick peas, spinach and lentil Biriyani rice. Biriyani is a long grain rice that is very delicious with the lentils added. My daughter really enjoyed this on my plate and ate all of it. You must try it. I also tried the Tabbouleh and enjoyed that with my meal. Everything was cooked just right and I was very satisfied. I'm not the big connoisseur of mall food and I usually steer away from it. However, I grabbed lunch at Kabobi last week and it was really good! I'm a bit of a fan of Mediterranean and Middle Eastern food which, at times, is hard to come by in Raleigh. But that's changing thankfully. This place is set up like a lunch counter. I went with the Kabobi sampler. The meats were well seasoned. The steak bites were a little overdone but I imagine they cook it well because most people like it that way. It was fine. We found it interesting that the food court at Crabtree Valley Mall would have two such similar spots as Kabobi and Hector's. It gave us a chance to have a head to head eat off between the two - at least on several items - or 4, really. The Chicken Kabob was one item - and the kabob here is good, just not as good as Hector's. There was no nice grill exterior crust on the chicken, and there was a yellow tint to the meat, but no supporting flavor aspect - Turmeric? The Grape Leaves were also a strong tilt to Hector's. The ones here had a nice mint taste, but the texture was soft and mushy. The "bread" here was thin, hard, and tasteless - like hardtack - not really sure what it was, but I didn't care for it, and no way you could ever wrap it around anything. The Tzatziki was a closer contest, but though neither was stellar, Hector's was a little thicker, a little more flavorful. The sides here , Okra (steamed or braised) was not memorable, and the other, Chickpeas & Green Beans, was at best an interesting set of items, but no less bland for the uniqueness of the combination. Super solid food court spot! I wanted something that wasn't your standard food court Asian and Kabobi fit the bill. The employees were super friendly and it definitely seems like a family owned spot. I ordered chicken kabobs, with a side salad, and hummus. It was all quite delicious and I enjoyed the tzatziki sauce they included with the kabobs. The hummus was also delicious and I'd guess that they make it fresh daily. The chicken on the kabob was tender and not dried out. I quickly ordered so I just went with the classics, but as I was waiting I noticed quite a few interesting and different looking side dish options. I tried both spicy chicken (minced chicken Kabab) and chicken Kabab (succulent pieces of tender chicken) and I would the latter over the former. Nice people, good food. I had a falafel sandwich combo (side and small drink lemonade or tea) with hummus and pita bread. I wanted the potato wedges instead of pita bread and hummus but they misheard me and gave me hummus instead when I asked if hummus was in the sandwich. Slight language barrier perhaps, but that's ok. The falafel sandwich tastes better if you eat it hot and right away. The hummus and tzatziki was a little on the watery side, other than that it was good. This is my favorite food court restaurant ever. I normally order the lamb shanks, rice with lentils, and the okra. Okra is always too mushy so I'm not sure if this is how it is traditionally prepared. They also do have a lot of gluten-free options there. Skip the napoleons for dessert. I was hoping for a more traditional custard filling but there's had a custard- whipped cream combo filling. This is my go-to place whenever I'm in the mall. read more

Whoa! What a surprise! I was in town for work and had to run by the Apple store. I stopped by Kabobi after walking by and the friendly server called out and said "HELLO SIR!!!!" I stopped in for a sample and it sold me. I was in sales for a long time and still am stunned at how effective a simple sample can close the deal! Anyways, she was insanely friendly and was able to give me a few more samples and I decided on the chicken pita wrap. I was pleasantly surprised that the food was not bland and there was ample vegetables within the pita. I opted for no tomato and she added a few more cucumbers for me. I really enjoyed the wrap and got the plain white rice as a side. Overall, it was a very filling meal and I was really happy with it! I might try to stop by once more before leaving in a week. The only reason I knocked it down 1 star was because the total was 10.21 and I still left her a $2 tip. She definitely earned the tip, but $12 is a tad steep for a gyro, rice and drink. The pictures looked appealing too. Walked up to the storefront and the very friendly guy was offering us samples of the chicken and then the lamb. Both were spiced just right and the lamb was very tender which helped with the decision to order up a plate. The chicken and the lamb were definitely very good, but the hummus was course and runny. The lentil rice was ok, but not a favorite... there was no plain rice offered as a choice. Also, the tsatsiki was runny and had more of a cucumber taste than other places, and the cucmbers were cut more course than usual. It's a change for the better in food court fare, but doesn't really hold up to places like Mona Pita and Greek Fiesta. If you decide to try it, go for the meat, but maybe try the grape leaves as they looked like they would taste good :-) read more

Interesting place. Not traditional fast food, but fast food nonetheless, and probably healthier than that clown place, the redheaded square place, the royalty place and even the place that moo's a lot but isn't open on Sundays. I was on a mission - from God! But my grumbling stomach was putting that mission on hold. I needed lunch, and I needed it fast. I whisked my family away from church and headed to the mall to see what offerings I could find before I truly embarked on my mission. My bride and I browsed around with disappointed looks on our faces until her face brightened up and said "Let's Try Kobabi!" Oh-Kay! We stood back from the counter, reviewing the menu before making our choices, all the time being waved in to try something on a toothpick. I waved the folks off who were waving meat laden toothpicks at us and finally dove in with my order. Nothing special, just a plain meal, I think it was the chef's platter - one meat, a salad and rice. The rice appeared to have lentils in it, not my favorite, but edible. The lamb was terrific! The mediteranean cucumber salad was also a hit. In reality, Kabobi is a breath of fresh air compared to many of the food court places. I'm glad to have been able to give it a try. I have tried this restaurant inside the Food Court several times and each time it is enjoyable. The chicken is moist and the ground beef is tasty. While the rice and bread is ok, the sides are excellent. The chicken wrap is a good fallback option. Whenever we are at this mall in NC, this is our go to place. Can't really go wrong. Is this the best kabob joint I have had? NO. BUT, it is good though. Additionally they are friendly, helpful and will answer any FOOD related question that one has. This afternoon, I ordered a chopped chicken with rice plate. My first bite was crunchy. Odd, but my expectations are low in a food court. I assumed it was something unfamiliar. A few bites later, another crunchy bite followed by several more. At this point, I'm just curious, so I pull the crunchy element out of my mouth after the next one to clean it off. Turns out it's chicken bone. I return to the cash register to inform them and see if I can get something else. Bone isn't exactly conspicuous in chopped chicken and rice, and I don't want to pick around my food searching for bones before I take every bite. The older man working the register looked at the bone and said, yes, of course the chopped chicken has chicken bones in it. This perplexed me. He argued (and argued and argued) that I should have known there would be chicken bones. He asked what I wanted and I said that I wanted a refund. He said I ate half of my plate, thus should not get a refund. I'd eaten probably a third, but it took me a little while to determine it was something I shouldn't be eating. My assumption was not that there was something wrong, but something different. Ultimately, he gave me cash back (not quite as much as I paid, but this concession was clearly difficult for him, so I didn't press it). He then told me to never come back. No problem! read more
