Chapli kabob and rice are some of the best I've ever had! For reference, other favorite chapli is at Aswana in Fremont. Also ordered the koobideh but thought the chapli the standout. Will be back to try the chicken kabob and other dishes!

Wonderful Afghan food spot located....(of all places) ....the Southland Mall Food Court. Not a place I venture often but when someone told me about Kabul Express KabobI figure I give it try. Placed an order over the phone and was ready when I arrived at the time specified. The owner, Nasir was very welcoming, friendly, and quickly rang me up. QABILI PALAU - lamb shank tender, flavorful along with their special rice with raisin and candied carrots. Delicious! CHAPLI KEBAB - ground beef that's nicely seasoned, soft, with a nice crust and light crunch from the seeds/spices Both orders came with a green salad, Afghan bread, and a spicy cilantro, jalapeno-vinegar based sauce that just kicks everything up a notch! Reasonably priced with generous portions! With inflation, I was surprised that both items cost approximately $32 with tax and tip. Park near the movie theater entrance, take the escalator to the food court and Kabul Express Kabob is located across the way towards the right! Plenty of food court tables for dining. Definitely check Kabul Express Kebab out as their food hits the spot!

I got the beef koobideh kabob plate and it did not disappoint! All halal food, which is great for those with dietary restrictions. Thankfully they serve with brown rice because these dishes with white rice is not as good. I highly recommend the beef kobideh kabob plate. It comes with rice, salad, and bread. Good value price too. I would get this again in a heartbeat. Food came out quick and seating is easy in the food court as well.

I haven't been to the Southland Food Court in years! But we were in the area and I remembered the food court has actual food places. We were really there for the Indian food, but my husband never had Afghan food (the things you take for granted when living in the East Bay!) so we tried the Mantoo dish. We didn't know what to expect, but it was good. I don't think it's something I am used to, but it looked good and tasted fine. Initially there wasn't anyone at the counter, but after we pressed the bell someone came by. Our food was made quickly and this is a place we would try again. What I don't like about malls are that the food courts all have the same generic chain restaurants or else "fancier" places that are all run of the mill. Southland is unique in that it has actual restaurants that serve real food. Hopefully Southland will fare better in the near future and continue to allow these smaller businesses to rent.

    Finished line.

After a long drained day from work, I told myself I needed lamb plate to fill back my energy. Here I was at Kabul express kabob again. Never be more satisfied than this. I felt like the owner took my review as suggestion. Today the plate was filled with raisins on top. The flavors were very tasty. He gave me two garlic green sauce with the meal. The green sauce was more spicier than last time but yessss i loved it this way more. Once again I couldn't stop until the last grain of rice. Soooo many thanks to be here near me!!!!!

This is clearly something the owner does because a few reviews below someone else mentioned her review was flagged and taken down. THE OWNER/MANAGER IS NOT A HONEST PERSON. The owner of this establishment contacted Yelp to remove my original review, claiming my experience was not legitimate. I am reposting my review with screenshots showing that | placed an online pickup order and visited the restaurant. The photos are timestamped from 2/3/2026. Transparency matters, and attempting to discredit a real customer experience instead of addressing it reflects poorly on the business. Flagged Content: Order: Chicken Shawarma Plate Total: $17.55 Location: 217 W Winton Ave, Haywara, CA 94544 I am extremely disappointed with this purchase. The food was not good at all. The chicken was clearly not fresh--it tasted old and seemed like it had been reheated in the microwave, possibly from a day or two earlier. The side dish with garbanzo beans also tasted old. The pita bread was cold and not even warmed, which shows a lack of care. The service was just as bad. When I arrived, the front door was locked even though the restaurant states it opens at 11:00 AM. I arrived around 12:35 PM. A gentleman eventually came to open the door. When I told him my name and that I was there for a pickup order, he seemed completely confused. A young lady then stepped in and asked about my order, and I had to show her proof that I placed it online. Apparently, my order was not in their system despite my confirmation. She told me my food would be ready in three minutes. I was on my lunch break, and there was no apology for the door being locked or for my order not being ready. I ordered ahead specifically because I was on a time limit. The fact that it was ready in "three minutes" made it very clear that the food was reheated rather than freshly made. The ambiance was also unpleasant. The restaurant has large chandeliers trying to appear elegant, but it doesn't work. Chairs were stacked on top of tables, so dining in wasn't even an option. There was also a strong smell of floor cleaner throughout the restaurant, as if they were trying to cover up another odor. Overall, I do not recommend this place. The food quality, service, and overall experience were very disappointing. This was a waste of money. I ended up throwing the food away because I was worried about food poisoning and didn't have time to return it since I was on my lunch break. I will not be coming back.

When seated after ordering, we were served with the signature Afghan bread with delicious spicy dipping sauce. The owner I presume also introduced us to two lovely dishes. The meats are so tender! Out of all the Persian places I have experienced the chicken at this establishment is the best! The beef even more! The dessert was heaven... We got the potato bolani and platter of the chicken kebab and chapli kebab to share. The potato bolani was my favorite, but the chapli kebab didn't have much flavor. The chicken was decent and paired well with the rice. My favorite items were definitely the bolani and chutney. At the end of our meal, they offered us a complimentary dessert of rose-flavored pudding with crushed pistachios. Overall, a 3.5 for food. I would definitely come back for the bolani. Please note parking can be quite difficult since it's in a small plaza so expect to parallel park in the neighborhood.

Overall Rating: 4.5/5…read more If you are looking for authentic, flavorful, and incredibly generous portions of Afghan food in Fremont, De Afghanan Cuisine is an absolute must-visit. The quality of the food stands tall alongside the massive quantity. Here is a breakdown of what we ordered: Butternut Squash Bolani The Good: The portion size is huge, making it more than enough for two people to share. The ingredients tasted incredibly fresh, and I deeply appreciated that it wasn't greasy at all. It comes with a side of yogurt that complements it perfectly. The Catch: I felt the filling itself was a bit sparse inside the dough. Pro Tip: Don't skip the fresh cilantro chutney sitting on every table; it pairs beautifully with the bolani! Triple Kabob (Murgh, Teka, and Chaplee Kabob) This platter gives you a taste of everything: chicken (Murgh), beef (Teka), and grilled ground sirloin (Chaplee). The meat was exceptionally tender, juicy, and packed with flavor. It comes with a side of salad, bread, and your choice of rice (white or Afghan brown, which is seasoned white rice). We opted for the white rice, and it was excellent. Ambience and Service The service was perfectly fine, but the ambience could use a little updating. A heads-up for warm days: the dining room can get really hot. As the kitchen fired up more orders, the heat quickly drifted into the seating area, which is why they kept the doors open. Luckily, we finished our meal right before we started getting toasted ourselves! They do have outdoor seating if you prefer to catch a breeze. Know Before You Go (Important Side Notes) Don't go to the wrong spot: De Afghanan Kabob House nearby is cash-only and takeout-only. If you want a sit-down meal and prefer to pay with a credit card, make sure you go to De Afghanan Cuisine. Parking: Street parking is pretty limited, but there is a convenient lot located right between the takeout and dine-in locations. Bottom Line: Incredible food that doesn't compromise on quality just because they give you a mountain of it. We will definitely be back!

The portion was gigantic and perfect for sharing. Loved how crispy this came out, along with the side of yogurt. The eggplant dip was also quite tasty and complemented the Afghan bread quite well. The chapli entree with brown rice was excellent. The rice was super fragrant while the chapli was super juicy and flavorful. Excellent entree.
