The ramen was really really bad, awful, like the noodles were like soggy soft spaghetti. Egg and other ingredients were totally fine (but not a soft boiled egg) and the pork actually tasty. The tonkotsu broth was weak but not as bad as my partner's flavorless shiyo. Both were carted over from somewhere else, probably sitting around cooling for half an hour. Don't order if you're in a rush because it takes a while, isn't in a to-go container, and also cuz it's pretty bad. Maybe the sandwiches conspicuously missing prices at the shop across the way would have been better. Anyway, shame on me for my lack of imagination that ramen at an airport could be so bad. After we had a below average experience at a restaurant in the terminal I, we decided to come to the Ramen bar and have some cocktails. My fiancé ordered the espresso martini, which is one of the most basic drinks to make and it's unfortunately after two times, it was too sweet and overpowered with liquor. We asked the bartender to remake it but the same results even though we did not like the drink, they were nice enough to make us an old fashion which was good. Aside from the negative points I want to point out the positive which was our bartender, Alexandra was a very sweet and very attentive, she was honest that it was her first time making a drink, but promised to try and make it better for us and we appreciate the effort and a good customer service. My only feedback is to have a little bit more training from management to set up your employees for success. read more

They take about 15 minutes to get you your drink and about 40 mins to bring you your meal after you order. There were about 3 or 4 people complaining about the wait and whether their food was coming or not. If you are in a hurry, this is not a good place to eat. My wait was very long. The meal was okay, not a lot of customer service since it's an iPad based system. I had a sushi combo and it was pretty decent, but not stellar. What a great little bar service restaurant at EWR. This place is one of the updated restaurants of the renovated United Terminal C--restaurants that have been upgraded to include iPads at each seat where you can order food or drinks, surf the Web, or play digital games. On this visit, we only had apps and drinks. I had a well-made Tito's dirty martini, and both Tony and I had Malbac wine for our second round (get the extra half pour for $5; definitely worth it). All drinks were above average, but they were priced kinda high (as you would probably expect for airports, though). As for apps, I highly recommend the wings. They are tasty, succulent, and fall-right-off-the bone tender! Yum! The staff at Kaedama are also super nice and attentive! My friend and I had a connecting flight so we decided to have lunch here since it was going to be a pretty long day of flying. After walking around Terminal C for a while deciding what to eat, ramen seemed to be the most reasonable price, $15 for a bowl versus a deli sandwich. I love ramen and I eat a lot of it when I'm in NYC but I guess I set the bar too high here. But c'mon, the bamboo shoots should not be cold and taste like it just came out of the can. I would come back just because I love eating anything with soup in it but I'm not eager to. The broth isn't flavorful, it's rather bland. The service was pretty slow as well. The spicy tuna was decent, considering we were at their airport. It was nice to eat something lighter after all the rich holiday food. The servers at the bar were friendly and helpful with explaining how to order with the electronic menu on the iPad. The menu automatically adds an 18% gratuity, but the bar server explained how to adjust that amount. They were also fairly quick with the drinks. The food service was very quick with the pork potsticker appetizer and average with the child's menu cheeseburger and fries. The pork potstickers were delicious, but not enough for a meal. This is a ramen bar but that didn't catch my fancy as much as the wine! Hubby left the concourse to meet some mutual friends but I didn't want to have to negotiate TSA security again so I stayed in the airport. Sometimes I just need some time to myself albeit in a crowded airport. This place fit the bill for me tonight although it's a bit expensive! The cheeseburger supposedly was available with fries, fruit or greens, but the menu offered only fries. Had an absolutely sublime experience at Kaedama on a recent set of trips connecting through Newark. We had a selection of sushi and ramen. All was served fresh with a minimum of fuss via the iPad ordering system. I've been to a pile of sushi and ramen joints across the US and in Japan as well and Kaedama is doing a solid job. They also mix generous cocktails, all a welcome respite to travelers like myself transiting through Newark. We were especially well taken care of by Lou, a fine bartender/server with a lot of heart. I was very dissappointed with the ramen at Kaedama in the Newark Airport. Unfortunately for me I forgot to look up the Yelp reviews before stopping at this place, had I done that I would have chosen to eat elsewhere. I ordered a ramen bowl with pork & fish and a lemonade. The ramen bowl costed $16.50 and the lemonade $4.00 which after tax cost almost $24.00. The ramen noodles were clumpy and under cooked. There was very little meat and the flavor was bland. The glass of lemonade was small and there was so much ice there wasn't much beverage in it. The only good things about my dining experience were the server working behind the counter and the look and layout of the dining area. Without great people and great service you don't survive. Big Lou (Louis) made it a GREAT experience. 4.5 hrs with delayed aircraft, he made it enjoyable. Personable, outgoing and professional. Food. I got sucked in to this place because it is front and center of the almost food court like area. They have the little dining place mats set up with ipad/tablets you order on. It was a tad modern for this old chick and I screwed up my drink request and ended up paying 16 for a vodka shot vs. a martini. Bartender was not able to remove that and help me out. I just told him to splash some oj in there and call it a screwdriver. You are not going to sit here and get a stiff drink! Husband had the sushi and he thought it was good. I didn't get to really relax and I did like my server but he was aggressive about bragging up the restaurant and pushing us to review the place on the ipad. I can appreciate a good east coast personality and admire he enjoys his job and good at it but I just thought it was a bit over the top.
