Base my reviews off what you pay: *Place was empty at 6:30 on a Wednesday, picked up at the end. Price - ~$100 (2 appetizers, entree, drink, bread, tip) Food - 3/5 - good food and portions for the price. Service - 3/5 - friendly but mixed bag. Ambiance - 3/5 - nice inside but dark. Overall - 3/5 - food was good, portions were good, definitely a lot of things on the menu I would want to try. Service was friendly and conversational, was both slow and fast, also made a mess when doing our Biryanis. Inside was very nice actually but was dark as hell, maybe I'm old. Kahani in Huntington was overall an okay experience; not bad, but not somewhere I'd necessarily go for the food itself. The food was decent/okay and the drinks were also just okay, nothing that really stood out to me personally. That being said, the vibes and ambiance were really nice. It's definitely the kind of place you could go to for a cute little catch-up/chit chat moment with the girls while ordering something light and enjoying the atmosphere. The service was great when we went, but it also wasn't busy at all since we visited on a weekday, so I'm not sure how the experience would be during peak hours. Came yet for the first time with some friends and had a blast. We started at the bar had a round of Kahani rum drinks before heading to our table. We were lucky enough to have Salma and Alex as our servers and they did a great job. Salma answered all our questions and provided recommendations. The ambience is quite nice with beautiful artwork on the wall and fun music playing in the background. I almost felt like we were at a club. We ordered a number of different dishes, including butter chicken, lamb biryani, haryali malai (chicken) and of course, some garlic naan and onion kulcha. Came to Kahani for brunch and it did not disappoint. We ordered the butter chicken, garlic naan, chole bhature, and the Punjabi breakfast, everything was absolutely delicious. For my drink, I had a spicy mango cocktail... no regrets! Justin was our waiter he was kind, knowledgeable, and attentive. The restaurant itself is beautiful, and the plates they serve the meals on feel fit for royalty. I'd definitely recommend it. So happy they've brought some real spice to Huntington! read more

It seemed like they may have been understaffed, but it took a long time for everything to come out. What really left a bad impression was that as soon as we finished dessert, we were told we needed to leave because they had another reservation coming in. Kahani is such a gem. The place has a beautiful, modern layout that feels warm and welcoming. Raja, the owner, was genuinely one of the sweetest and most attentive owners I've met. You can tell he takes pride in every detail. We started with complimentary papad and had kurkuri bhindi, samosa chaat, lamb chops, mango lassi and their gol gappe. Everything was excellent. The kurkuri bhindi was perfectly crispy, the samosa chaat had the right mix of flavor, the kabab was flavorful and tender, and the gol gappe were spot-on. I also loved that the menu has Punjabi writing its such a thoughtful touch. Overall, amazing food, great vibes, and definitely a place I'd return to. read more

I absolutely loved Kahani, everything about it. The vibe, I would describe it as opulent, beautiful, upscale, & cozy. The staff was very friendly, and helpful. The food was excellent as well as the drink drinks. I would describe it as Indian small plates. I stopped by for dinner. There were families with children. There were groups of young people just having fun. It's a place for everyone, At night, it turns into a cocktail lounge with music. I was very pleased with my meal. I can't wait to go back. The restaurant itself is very pretty, well decorated, and the seating is nice. It's smaller than it looks in pictures. The bathroom was small and clean. Overall the service was quick and the waiters and hosts were all so nice and welcoming. We ordered the Kurkuri Bhindi, which reminded me of the fried okra in Dishoom in London. We also tried the Delhi Chaat and chilli paneer (spicy!). For mains we got the butter chicken and the shahi paneer which were both good. You can pick your spice level to your own preference. The rice accompanying the mains were very nice and the papad with chutney, which is complimentary was slightly overcooked but tasty. Simply amazing Indian cuisine located in the heart of Long Island. When you're in Huntington, there are only two things that come to find. Good food and a greater atmosphere with an appreciation for authentic Indian cuisine. Sadly I was not able to provide photos or videos from my experience but I can most definitely till you what I experienced. Kahani, which translates to "Story" in Urdu, Hindi and Punjabi. A story of a young man, making his way to the heart of Long Island for some brilliant Indian food. Tonight was my cousins birthday and the 10 of us thought we would make a dent in their menu, which we definitely did. We started off with their chicken malai tikka, tandoori tikka, haryali wings, angara prawns and shikari steak tikka. It might sound like a mouthful and that it was folks, that it was! I will definitely have to revisit and make photos of what we ordered but from the tenderness of the malai tikka to the succulent prawns, the way the masala breeds through the flavors and heat! Makes you want more and more! The prawns are highly recommended. Order two or three, you'll be addicted like I was. With the starters we also added their famous Kurkuri bhindi. Basically fried okra fries, dusted with their chaat masala. Finger licking goodness! Colonels Gobi. Mmm mmm mmmm it was like sweet and sour Cauliflower. Tasted very East Asian. Oh my I was in love! The fish Amritsari, to dieeeee for! The flaky fish mixed with all the spices and prepared in its most delicious from, on a flame! Where the masala and coal come together to leave a slight char on the fish! Mmmm mmm! Yes please! But we weren't done there. For our mains, we chose the classic saag paneer, the butter chicken, the lamb vindaloo, Rogan Josh lamb, and makhani masala steak. Yes, everything that I mentioned was a 200 out of a 200. Folks, please don't be stingy, ORDER their butter naans for all of your curries! You don't wanna miss one bite of the delicious dishes. Every single curry item was made to perfection, piping hot and packed with flavor. I haven't had delightful Indian food quite like this! The food was quite good, the decor is great and the service was great. Music is loud in the bar area if that's your vibe. My only complaint is that you need to be careful paying the bill. The automatically add 20% tip for parties of 3 or more. What I thought wasn't professional was that at the bottom of bill it had the 3 typical line items for a tip 15%, 20%, 25% and then the total which would be added to the total which already included a 20% service charge. to cut to the chase it wasn't obvious that the service charge was already added in. which is fine but then don't try to double dip read more

Food was amazing. Ambiance was amazing. Service was a tiny bit slow, but other than that, I highly recommend this place. I will say their spice level is on par with normal Indian food so maybe go mild if you want a true medium. And lastly, Justin was our server. He was amazing and super accommodating. The Samosa Chaat is amazing, I've never had such a delicious samosa and pea puree! The Chicken Biryani was good, but the Tadka Daal was fantastic! If I get the opportunity to go again it will be the Samosa, Butter Chicken, and a spicier version of the Daal (watch out though because even the mild has a small kick if you dislike spice). read more

It's ok for the area. If you're looking for authentic Indian this is probably a little Americanized for you. Had the chicken 65 which was so tough to chew I got rid of most of it. Daal was pretty decent. Lamb chops were pretty mild and for NYC prices not worth it. Chaat was great and so was the panner appetizer! Over all good for locals. Wouldn't travel there for food. Went to this restaurant for the first time a few days ago and loved it! First of all, it is really pretty inside. Then the food was delicious! We got the fried okra, wings and onion kulcha for appetizers and they were all excellent. I had the Billos Biryani - which was a chicken Biryani in a clay pot covered and sealed with a naan bread. So good. It was a very large portion too - I had enough left for a large lunch the next day. Others at our table had the Lamb Vindaloo and the Rogan Josh and enjoyed them very much. Food was good enough, a bit salty. The worst part of the restaurant was that when it was time to pay, our party provided a credit card. After 20 minutes we ask what's going on and the waitress informs us that the credit card was lost and they need another form of payment. We provided another card. We got a call from them the next day saying they never found the card. They didn't offer a free appetizer, drink, dessert, or anything for the major inconvenience. and to add fire to the flame, they didn't even apologize for losing our card. We will absolutely not be going back to an establishment that doesn't care about making it up to the customer when they did something wrong. read more
