Lunch was terrific! Starting with the temperature- it's hard to find a restaurant that is toasty in the freezing winter cold but this place is super warm and cozy. The drinks were good but the burgers were fantastic. We ordered two and both were cooked to the temperature that was ordered. The Gruyère burger was so delicious. The beef was tender and full of flavor. The cheese was gooey and the onion jam was the perfect sweet combination with the lemon aioli. The fries are shoestring-crispy golden and perfectly salted. The herbs on top were a nice addition. I would go back for seconds. The bartender was the only one working. She was making drinks and serving 6 to 8 tables at a time. It was impressive. This was on unexpected find a few weeks ago. We were traveling home during rush hour and decided to take the back roads and stop off and grab a bite to eat somewhere. After combing through Yelp, I found this gem and we decided to give it a try. As I mentioned, it was weeks ago, so my memory of the exact dishes we had is maybe a little foggy. I will say that the linguini with white clam sauce was hands down the best we've ever had. Yes, it can be viewed as a "basic" dish, but there was nothing basic about this. Not overly worked, but flavors that just popped with Umami, and the clams were so fresh! I had a Mushroom Toast that was simply to die for. Crazy good and again, not overly worked, just clean, comforting flavors. Charred cauliflower, as well as the tuna tartare also did not disappoint. Our server was warm and friendly as is the vibe of the place--feels more like a cozy tavern to me. We had the pleasure of meeting and complementing the chef/owner on the way out...I have so much respect for chefs that have a level of confidence that they're not afraid of nuance. I had the pleasure of going to Swallow back in the Huntington days and loved their small plates, so I was thrilled to finally get a chance to try this new location. And boy did they deliver! The space is small but all the decor lets you know you're in for a special meal. We were there for lunch on a Tuesday and the server was so friendly and helpful! And the flavors... wow. Did they deliver! The charred cauliflower brought a little heat with chili oil and sweetness with the chewy golden raisins. The mushroom toast was a decadent umami explosion. The Nom Nom noodles were good, but I was probably looking for more heat. But the grilled octopus.... Wow! Everything on that plate worked in harmony to compliment the protein. After not being able to get into multiple restaurants in the area , we finally came to swallow and I'm glad we did ! I had eaten at Swallow when it was on NY Ave in Huntington. I wasn't aware that they moved. Started off with a great toasted old fashioned high was made perfectly with my fave Michter's Rye. For appetizers we shared the Tuna tar tar and the mushroom toast. The tuna tar tar was excellent. The Mushroom toast was outstanding ! I would go back to Swallow just for the mushroom toast lol. Swallow has become our go-to spot, and without fail, every time we eat here, the food is outstanding. Honestly, I don't even know where to start because everything is phenomenal. In my opinion, this is the best place to eat on Long Island. They specialize in small plates, and one of the things I love most is that they switch up the menu often, so there's always something new to try. My absolute favorite is the mushroom toast--it's perfection. Today, we had the roasted cauliflower, and it was bomb. Their mussels are incredible, and the clams with linguine were exquisite. The cocktails are always on point, and the service is wonderful every single time. i walked in around 810pm. I was really looking forward to Burger Mondays. It has been such a hit with my family. We also have come there for birthdays and just because. As soon as I walk in, the bartender asks if I wanted to order food. I said yes. She tells me that the kitchen is closing. I said online it says that you close at 9. She says well not on Mondays. Then she goes to see if I can order. It is a go. So, I order my burger. While I am waiting for my food, the hostess comes to tell the bartender that someone has made an 830pm reservation on Resy. The bartender says I hate that. She tells the hostess that she can leave. When I get my burger, it is rare. I just decide to eat my onion rings and ask for a box to take my food home. The bartender asks how everything is. I don't dare mention it or ask for my burger to be cooked correctly after hearing that exchange. I have already been made to feel as if I shouldn't be there.It is very clear that the bartender doesn't want to be bothered by customers at this time. But, she does keep offering me liquor or milkshakes. Read the room!! The 830pm party arrives. She asks how they want their burger. Then, another customer arrives around 840pm. She does let him know that the kitchen is closing and she goes to check to make sure that he can order food. She gets the go-ahead. She asks how he wants his burger. They should really work on customer service. Don't change hours randomly. Adhere to posted hours. Or post on website that hours may vary and call ahead to make sure that we are open. Also, don't express discontent with customers while other customers are present. And, finally, if a customer orders a burger, please ask how they want it. The food and drinks are great, but the noise level can be ridiculous. If it's crowded, you can't talk to the person across the table. If it's not crowded, it's fine, but if you need a quiet night out, you're risking it. They need some soft panels in that place to absorb the sound! Had a fantastic meal here. Super cute space, has parking, and everyone was friendly. It's small plates, but not as small as tapas. I love being able to order multiple dishes to share so I can try more items on the menu. We had the tuna tartare, mushroom toast, roasted cauliflower, octopus, steak, and nom nom noodles. The food here is fantastic. My husband is gluten-free and there's so many options. We've never had any issues. plenty of vegetarian options too. I had the carrot farro entrée and it was unbelievable. My husband had the pork chop and our friend had the duck. Everyone's meals were unique and delicious. I had finished up work yesterday around 530p, and decided to stop by here for an early dinner. The restaurant was full!!! However there are seats at and around the bar where it's first come first serve and you can order food too! My last review of this place was very short...The place has always been good but I never gave it an in depth review like I like to do. *I do not have any photos I apologize, but this was our first meal of the day and we were ravenous* First off, Jaime at the bar was amazing. She is good at what she does, and is clearly well liked because most of the customers (whether or not they were at the bar) knew her by name, and would say bye to her on their way out. She helped us pick out a few things and made us the most delicious cocktails. I stuck to the tallulah (strawberry and jalapeño/tequila based drink) and my husband had the sangria (fruity, flavorful, and def had a boozy kick). We started with the Caesar salad , which was what you'd expect but the pumpernickel croutons were an unexpected yet delicious twist...we then had the hot Phuk noodles (recommended by Jaime) and I wasn't going to go for this at first but she had us sold with her description. The broth is so deep and rich with flavor that I probably could have had multiple bowls. The mushroom toast with that cream sauce and grilled ciabatta bread was full of umaminess (don't think it's a real word but whatever). I don't think I've ever had anything like that before and it was really unexpectedly delicious. The steak Tokyo was also done very well, flavorful and cooked well. And the tres leches was . The Carmel on the wet spongy bread that had little crispy bits was wow. I think my favorite thing about dining here was the pace at which the food came. We were able to enjoy things one at a time, which is nice because sometimes at other small plate type restaurants everything just sort of comes out and then you don't get to enjoy the dish fresh. We have been to Swallow( Huntington-closed, Montauk) on several occasions. We were greeted by the hostess and seated promptly. " Julia" our server was a gem. Friendly and efficient. The " busboy" seemed out of sorts. He didn't clean our table, dropped the utensils ( which left my seat greasy), took our plates and neglected to bring all but one plate. From the planning of my sister's baby shower with James and the service with Melissa and Lizza to the food/ambiance it was absolute perfection. I've never had such a personable experience. Melissa did great with the cocktails and she mixed up some mocktails for our guests that do not drink. Lizza was very attentive even while having the task of bringing out the entres. The food was another level of delicious. Perfect portions were perfect and more than enough. It was suggested to me to do a cocktail style brunch and I'm so glad I did. Our guests weren't restricted to whatever seat they chose so everyone was able to get up and move around even with their entre in hand. Swallow was our choice for the New Years Eve dinner, as we wanted to stay somewhat local, and they offered a pre-fixe 6 course meal and champagne toast for $50, which was unbeatable. The location is easy to find, ample parking, and privately entranced near the neon sign, which was cool. It's a smaller restaurant, I'd say there was about 20 tables all together there, and a bar for you to sit and have a drink if your table isn't ready yet. The first round of drinks was great, I had the Tallulah and she had the Mango Bellini, very good. Then we got seated, had a slight adjustment to the menu because we can't eat shrimp (allergies) they replaced it with a Mac and Cheese Orzo. Everything was delicious, the Butternut Squash, the Burrata, Scallops, Short Ribs, and the dessert, just delicious. The second round of drinks was a little off, the Gentleman's Whiskey drink I had was watered down, but the Gin drink she got she liked. Amazing service, great food and an owner that cares. Really appreciate the awareness of gluten-free restrictions. While the items on the menu aren't marked gluten-free, they can make many of the dishes gluten-free safe or they are safe "as us". Their fryer is only used for potatoes and all waitresses and other employees are well-versed in gluten free requirements. I loved the shrimp and grits, french fries and mussels. Swallow a perfect name for a restaurant with the double innuendo having a neon bird sign placed within. The place is on Broadway in Greenlawn and not far from their library on the same street. At 91 the GPS said you have arrived we were there but we did not see it. You need to look for it. (see pix) Thing is Swallow is set back and on the brick building at the end. I phoned to a recording stated leave a message noting that it was full and so not able to do so. We asked a local for directions and she cheerily was able to direct us. Its across the street from Value Drugs in a shopping center on the West side along with Subways, Roselle Cleaners and Green Jade - All with big green signs. There is seating outside as well. Entering you see steps going up with a plagued listing of other places within. The Neon Swallow bird sign to your right you take a left inside. The décor is definitely feminine with an I LOVE YOU HAND statue on the shelf by the outside window, fake flowers, pillows, throw rugs on the seats, a wall that looks like someone through containers of pain on it and lit it drip down and also, a Bar on the side. The women's bathroom was is clean, had a pink basket, soap and a few decorated Halloween items of little candles by the sink,. The outside black doors to them, have gold mirrors. In the corner is a fine skeleton with his bony dog. There also is an open area with blue lights and steps going down to what looks to be supplies. The food was ok I enjoyed the butternut squash soup that came in a big cup. We had Mahi Mahi Tacos from the small plate menu. 3 tacos and 2 pieces of fish each. read more

This is the second time that I've been here and they are two for two as far as food choice and quality. Everything is presented nicely and the food is extremely tasty. This time we had the fish tacos and also Farro with asparagus and the ladder was my favorite out of the two. We also had a couple of cocktails (a vodka mule)with ginger, beer and tequila sunset which were excellent. You definitely know there is liquor in the drink. Isabella our server was extremely pleasant and efficient. it's so important because an unpleasant server can offset good food, and drink quite easily. I had high expectations for this place due to some recommendations from friends and reviews online. The food was generally good but there are some missteps which they hopefully improve upon in the future. Tallulah - A solid drink. Strong and not overly sweet. Well balanced with good acidity. Burrata - Fresh, creamy, and interesting. The addition of persimmon paired very well with tomato. The spice and acidity from the chili vinaigrette cut through the fat perfectly to round out the dish. This was my favorite of the evening. Mushroom Toast - I did not expect the toast to be drenched in a cream sauce. It made the toasted bread soggy and kind of defeated the purpose of toasting it in the first place. I like my toasted bread crispy, as it should be, to contrast the wet gumminess of the mushrooms. However, all the flavors on the plate meshed well together. Fresh Rigatoni in a 3-Hour Pork Ragu - This was rather disappointing. The pasta was gummy and overcooked. It almost had a canned noodle feel to it. This particular fresh pasta recipe needs to be scrapped and rethought. The ragu was thin and soupy. It definitely needed to be cooked down a bit longer to concentrate the flavors and thicken up. Just an unpleasant dish all together. Red Wine Cider Braised Short Ribs - The short rib was fall apart tender and delicious. The carrots were cooked perfectly. The truffle ricotta added a nice fatty balance, complimenting the sweetness of the jus. The only problem was the fettuccini. It was completely overcooked and mushy. This was a real shame because it would have been a perfect dish if it was al dente. Pasta is most certainly not their forte. Espresso Creme Brulee - Absolutely perfect. Boldly strong espresso flavor punches you in the face from the first bite! It had the perfect amount of sweetness and was luxuriously creamy. I would have this again and again. Dulce De Leche Bread Pudding - The warm bread pudding had a good consistency and wasn't overly sweet. This was good because of course, dulce de leche is very sweet. A solid balanced dessert. Simple and delicious. Since they are new I will give 4 stars instead of 3. The chef shows some promise so I will return for round 2 one day soon. read more
