I spontaneously came in for lunch on a weekday and it wasn't busy. I was enticed in by the sign that featured their lunch specials: entrees that include a drink. After a short wait at the front of the restaurant, I was seated in a booth. The restaurant is quite large. There were other guests there but it was not crowded. The TV screens throughout the restaurant continuously play club music. I chose the chicken fajitas. The fajitas came out very hot. I found the dish overall to be quite salty. For my drink, I chose a Pepsi. The server was helpful and helped me out when I asked for a refill. This restaurant has a bathroom and it's clean. I went back after my meal to wash my hands. Overall, my experience at the restaurant was ok, mostly because of the food.

Was looking for a full bar place local to us, but a little away from home, and came across this location driving around. The food tastes delicious, very flavorful and presentation is nice ;) they have some good stock on alcohol also. Just wish our server smiled a little more, then we would have given a five. But will come back for sure . Parking can be a headache but if you get lucky you'll find a spot or just walk !

Dont use their doordash service. Was charged and never got the food. Recieved message that food was ready, went to Kalaveras and they were closing , said they never got the order but yet someone marked it as ready for pick up. Noe im short 80 dollars and never got the food. Lady on the phone was super rude and hung up on me. Never going to this restaurant again. Neither doordash or Kalaveras refused to refund me my money. Doordash is saying Kalaveras put that i picked up the order, however when i arrived they were closing and said they never got an order. Kalaveras is saying they dont see an order on their end . No one wants to take responsibility, however someone took my money without providing the food. Bunch of scammers.

Greeted and seated. Came here to eat Mexican food. This place delivered. Ordered drinks and grub. Parking can be tough, all is pending on when you come here to eat. Overall good ambiance. Nice decor and good vibe. Good food and drinks.

Sunday Buffet for $29.99 from 9 to 2 today. Girls got together at 12. Half dining area was filled. We started to have waffles, strawberry pancakes, chocolate crepes, many mexican cuisines including tacos, enchiladas, crab salad, shrimp salad, sausages, potatoes, beans, rice, and fried chickens...and fruits, flan, and more desserts. Soooo good! Very organized, fresh, yummy...everything. I got the magarita w lime for $12.95 and other girls got mimosa drinks. I saw a large party of people had b day more than 4 times during Sunday Brunch. That is why I felt party vibes all the way. Whohoo!!! Fun! Great vibes, great foods, Only one thing for me to remember that they charge 3% extra for credit card payment. I will definitely come again for Sunday Buffet.

My wife found a new Taco place. So we tried for lunch on Taco Tuesday. The price is $1.99 per Taco. The size is tiny. They use white corn tortillas even chips. I like yellow corn tortillas. But the flavors of my crunchy tocos were really good. My wife tested 2 asada soft tacos. She liked the Taco bar, she took lots of toppings including salsa, jalapeño pickles, carrot pickles, cucumbers, chopped onions, lots of chopped cilantro. Unlimited.... First, soft Taco was good, tiny size. We both liked the spicy salsa. Second, my crunchy Taco plate, only 2 tacos w rice, beans. I loved the Spanish rice. It was great. I can come for the rice only. Third, my wife's pick, 3 empanada plate w salsa, sour cream, spicy mayo. She liked all of them. The lighting is so dark. The music is not too loud. The vibes are casual, vivid colored Mexican style. They have happy hour from 2 Mon to Fri. $10 for margaritas, some appetizers are 7.50. I noticed the parking was not the private, 2 hours limit on the public parking in the back of building. My wife said, they charge 3% surcharge for cedit card payment. We will be back for the margaritas, tacos....

I went on Valentines day with my boyfriend, and we had a reservation for 630 pm. It did not take long for us to get seated. The hostess who seated us at that time was really nice, and I was very understanding that it was a busy night for them and they were all trying their best to get everyone seated as much as possible. The ambiance was nice and vibrant. Our server, I forgot his name, but he was very nice and funny. He gave my boyfriend and me great recommendations. While ordering, he recommended this pink girly alcoholic drink to me, which tasted like strawberries, and it was delicious! While waiting for our food, we were eating chips and salsa that beforehand, and it was really good, so we had to get a second round of it. My boyfriend ordered this blood orange alcoholic drink, and he loved it so much that he got two as well! As for food i ordered the blackened rib eye steak, and it was DELICIOUS. I got medium rare, and it was cooked perfectly. The side dishes that came with it were very good. My boyfriend ordered the Parillada, which comes with shrimp, chicken, beef, sausage, and a few side dishes as well, like rice, beans, veggies, salsa, and tortillas (the tortillas were nice and warm). The shrimp on that plate was my favorite. Both alcoholic drinks and the entrees were delicious, and we enjoyed every bite. Overall, the place was nice and welcoming, and the staff was very friendly. I would come back here again.

We were in Downey for an event and decided to stop by Kalaveras Bellflower for a drink and bite to eat afterwards. There is a good sized parking lot located behind the restaurant. The ceilings are black, and it is lit a little dimly including some black lights which really makes the neon signs and bright paint colors inside pop. There are all booths towards the rear entrance, and a mix of tables and booths in front. We sat at a table in front, and over ten minutes had gone by and none of the servers had acknowledged us yet. They just kept walking by, and I finally had to flag somebody down to get menus. We started out with a few cocktails and chips and salsa with an order of guacamole. The chips were good, and the salsa had a smoky flavor. The guacamole was good, but it had large cubes of avocado in it. We both prefer the avocado mashed up well, and we wouldn't order the guacamole again. I had the Jarrito Loko cocktail (Lunazul Reposado, lime, agave, watermelon puree, Jarrito's soda, $14). It comes in a nicely decorated mug with a partial Tajin rim. It had a great watermelon flavor that wasn't overly sweet, and reminded me of a watermelon Jolly Rancher. It was very refreshing, and I didn't notice any carbonation from the soda. It was the best watermelon margarita I've had in a while. She had the El Chamuco cocktail (Los Javis Mezcal, lime, agave, passion fruit, mango puree, $15). - It was mezcal forward and very smoky to me, but the passion fruit and mango flavors help tone it down a bit. She really enjoyed it. I originally wanted to order the Enchiladas de Camaron, but the server informed me that they were out of shrimp. Instead, I ordered the Carne Asada plate ($28). The cut of meat was large and marinated. It had good flavor and was filling. It came with the same chunky guacamole. She wasn't very hungry, and just had the Taquitos Doridos appetizer ($7.99) which she enjoyed. So, why only three stars? We weren't aware, but Sunday evening is Banda Night with live music. After we got our drinks and chips and guacamole, the band started playing and it was insanely loud. Ordering our entrees was almost impossible, and I had to scream at the server so she could hear me. At this point, all we could do is sit and wait for our food because conversation was not an option. We couldn't wait to finish eating and leave. Service got off to a slow start initially, but was ok overall. We enjoyed the food and drinks, but the extremely loud music killed the dinner for us.

I was staying with friends nearby and it was taco Tuesday. Tip: get two tacos at a time for more meat. They skimped on the meat on my first plate of six to make it fit the plate I guess. The tacos were good, I liked the carnitas better than the asada. All of the salsas went great with the tacos. It's nice having the toppings bar for you to customize.

This is that platter that would have been better in a molcajete.

I took my best friend to eat here for her birthday on June 30th, 2026. Our server Juan was amazing!! We really liked him. We both got portabello mushroom tacos and it was probably the best thing we ate! I recommend those. I also got a strawberry margarita and it was really yummy. Then we decided to get the Cadillac margarita flight but that was a letdown. It was not that great! My friend didn't like them at all. She ended up asking for a strawberry margarita. Apart from the mushroom tacos we got a platter that comes with a nopal, chorizo, carne asada, pollo asado, avocado, and some jalapenos asados too. The plate comes with salsa and tortillas. That platter was descent but it would have been better if it came in a molcajete like other restaurants. I have to say that I've had better Mexican food at other places. I would give them a 6.5 on that platter but a 10 on the mushroom tacos. The drinks are more of a 5 because in my honest opinion they lack alcohol. I usually get drunk easily and they didn't do anything to get me even buzz. I don't drink often so when I do it gets to me quick. Also, we had an issue with Maribel. Not sure if she's a manager or what but she came up to me to see if I needed anything else while my friend had stepped away. So I asked if they did anything for birthdays and she said yeah do you want a churro or flan for your friend. I said churro, but later on because we are still eating. She said ok and walked away. The churro never came but I did ask her again after I paid for the food. I said excuse me, how about that churro and pointed to my friend since it was her bday. Maribel went to Juan and told him. We waited a while for that churro that never came. Maribel seemed to be stressed out since it was the day that Mexico played a soccer game but honestly they weren't even busy! We went to have lunch around 2pm and the game didn't start till 7pm. There was no reason for her to be so stressed if the restaurant was rather empty! Also, please take a light jacket or sweater when you go there because that AC is on blast and it's cold!!! It's really dark inside (I had never been there before). They have some cool paintings on the wall. Thank you Juan our server you were pretty awesome! Also, AC on blast makes food get cold quick! I really wish Maribel would have been more attentive and not rude! I wanted my friend to feel special and have her churro just like we did a few years ago at vaca brunch in Baldwin Park. We would rather go back to Vaca Bruch .

Kalaveras is a popular Mexican chain in SoCal. This location is sitting next to the Steelcraft in Bellflower. The inside is a lot larger than I expected! I came on a random weekday lunch and it was pretty quiet. The service was a little lacking, as they didn't come refill water often. The food was quite good though! I really enjoyed my Fajitas plate. However, the Asada Fries were pretty bland. I wish the added some sort of sauce on it. Overall, Kalaveras is just a solid Mexican chain.

Buffet Brunch Sundays Was A Hit! ‍ I had no idea they do buffet style brunches here on Sundays so this was my first time trying it out and yeah.... I will be back. I had bacon, enchiladas, beans, fruit, and green chicken pozolé. Next time I'm going to make it a point to try their tacos! The mimosa was good, I got mine with pineapple juice instead of oj. Food 8/10 Service 10/10 (our waitress was very attentive)

I really enjoyed the carnitas plate which is served on a hot cast iron skillet, which I love because I prefer my carnitas crispy on the edges. Do note that they can overcook as well if you don't take them off the hot plate. Beans and rice were very good as well. GF ordered the enchiladas which she enjoyed, but has had better. Service was hit and miss, but we were a party of 12+ and the World Cup final was on the big screens. Order the churro cart for dessert, especially for a birthday. Made for great pics! Churro was just ok though :( good thing there was ice cream :) Biggest complaint has to be the salsas. The one with chips had no kick or flavor. I asked for spicier sauce which they do have, but was just ok flavor wise. Too many great Mexican and Mexican American restaurants with good food and better salsas to re-visit, so not sure I would be back. If in the area, it's worth a try and they do have big screens for games and the bar was pretty packed, so maybe worth the trip back for that and bring my own salsa :)
