Street Cred at Kalye This is my 3rd delivery order from Kalye fir work lunch in midtown. I order through Uber eats and it is all the way on the others side of the city so it is pretty expensive but we'll worth it. I always order the kare kare. The first time I added a pancit because I wanted to try other dishes but realized the portuons are huge. I can split an order of kare kare into 2 lunches, I just have to order an extra rice and bagaoong. The Kalye kare kare has become my favorite in NYC. The meat is always tender falling off the bone. The veggies are crisp and fresh. The peanut sauce is tasteful with the perfect consistency, not too thick not too watery. Looking forward to dining in one day.

Came to Kalye for lunch with a friend. As a Filipino, I was craving some authentic Filipino food and was excited to give this spot a try. They had a lot of classic Filipino dishes on the menu, and we ordered from their lunch menu. I opted for the beef kare-kare, while my friend got the sisig. The kare-kare came with a generous portion of beef, and the presentation was nice. However, I felt like the peanut sauce was lacking that strong, rich peanut flavor you typically get with kare-kare. I think having it with oxtail might have given the dish a richer and more authentic flavor. The sisig was also just alright. The flavor itself was good, but I wish it had been much crispier. I'm used to sisig coming out on a sizzling platter with those crispy pieces throughout, but since this was the lunch portion, it came out in a bowl instead. It wasn't bad, but the texture was definitely missing that crispiness I was looking for. The star of the show was easily the ube horchata. It was delicious and had a strong ube flavor with a nice cinnamon taste that paired really well together. The drink itself was so good, but it was pretty expensive for the size, especially since the cup was filled with a lot of ice. I definitely wish you got more for the price. The interior was decorated nicely with plenty of Filipino elements and decorations throughout. Service was pretty slow, though, especially considering we were only one of two parties there at the time. Overall, the food was alright, but nothing really stood out to me enough that I'd come back specifically for the Filipino food. I could see myself stopping by again for the drinks or cocktails if I'm in the area, especially that ube horchata.

This is one of the very few Filipino restaurants in Manhattan but they got everything you would find in the Philippines! They have a nice mix of mimosa flavors like guava and lychee, and their cocktail selection was so unique. I liked the Pandan Pop mocktail and my friend got the Braguda which is like an alcoholic ube horchata. I really enjoyed their crunchy Lumpia Shanghai with the tastiest savory filling. The Lechon Kawali was so crispy and fatty too and paired with the rice, was a great choice.The Pancit HabHab was different than typical pancit palabok that I've had as they use egg noodles in this one. It was very unique! I think the noodles were a tad overcooked and it overall lacked flavor unfortunately. The servers were really sweet though and were very attentive.

Glad to have come back to check out the new happy hour menu, appetizers and other additions. The cocktails are the star with the Ang bato cocktail that is perfectly crafted along with their special Negroni and soursop drink. The chef and bartenders create a special presentation to showcase food and drinks that compliment the restaurant. Highly recommend coming for happy hour and trying out their catering menu the next time you have an event because who doesn't love Filipino food?

Best tasting food I've had in a while. Staff was super friendly and hospitable. The pork dish with the garlic rice was so fresh. It's the most popular dish on the menu, so filling, and came out on a skillet. A lot of the drinks come out in really cool displays. 10/10/10. Cool bar area. See you again very soon.

Kalye transports me back to the Philippines, where my family is from. The food here tastes very authentic, and although the flavors are a little more muted than the Filipino food my family would make growing up, it is still delicious. I love seeing a restaurant serving high-quality, great Filipino food in New York City! It is a little on the expensive side, but definitely worth trying. The food is great, the atmosphere inside feels authentically Filipino, and the servers are super friendly and welcoming. I cannot recommend this place enough!

I AM 100% PINOY ON MY MOM I LOVE KALYE!! In Manhattan, this is the best Filipino food and I'm not even sure that's up for discussion. None of that gimmicky fusion mess at Kalye. If you want something else like this, you've gotta go to Queens. If you want the fusion stuff, stay in the city. I've been to Kalye multiple times and each time it never misses. The flavors of every dish is a flavor from home. The kinilaw is a perfect vinegary starter with delicious chunks of tuna. The dish has a nice hint of spice and aromatics. I'd gladly suggest the laing with chips as well. If you're wary of what to get, get the lumpia and pork bbq skewers for something more tried and true. The bangus in this bangsilog is always fried to perfection, allowing the initiated to eat every piece including the skin and head. The sisig is soooo good! Mixing in the uncooked yolk into the sizzling dish, allowing every bit of meat to integrate well with each other. It's a beautiful spoonful. The aromatics and spices in the sisig complement the pork beautifully. If you have a chance, I recommend the Boodle Fight Club! This large shareable meal is a great intro into Filipino culture and cuisine. It's a prime Filipino invitation to great conversations with even greater food. Service at Kalye was prompt and great, no notes everyone there is amazing.

This is one of the best filipino food I've ever had! And I don't say this lightly, I grew up in San Diego (specifically Mira mesa aka Manila Mesa). Most of my friends growing up were filipinos so I've had my fair share of filipino food. Kalye honestly makes SD filipino food seem so mid (sorry not sorry). And they're so accommodating if you want to celebrate a birthday here! A week before my friend's birthday I wanted to make a resy and they were flexible when I had last minute changes and let me bring a cake and even decorated it like I had requested. The night went so smooth so I really appreciated it! Highly highly recommend the boodle fight, such a fun food activity too

Shoutout Justin and Brendan! We came to Kalye with a big group of 7 people and ordered the big Boodle Fight platter, as well as a couple of other dishes (noodles) just in case we were still hungry. I think for such a large group an extra dish or two helps but we were super super stuffed and satisfied by the end of the meal. Service was great and kept helping us out with the crowded table area. The food itself was stunningly good- the crispy fish and pork of course but even just the white meat of the chicken was so juicy and tasty! Eating with our hands was the most fun and they give you gloves anyway so you stay clean. The cocktails were delicious as well, I really recommend them. Our nice servers also gave us a bonus shot at the end which was a great send off. Cannot recommend this place highly enough! 5/5 will be coming here again for sure.

I enjoyed my experience at Kalye! For food we got the bbq pork skewers, pork Sisig, and halo halo for dessert. My favorite was the skewers. They were tender and flavorful. The pork Sisig was good too, but a bit too salty. The halo halo was also a fun dessert to try since it had ice cream, jellies, beans, etc. This portion was good for two people. The restaurant is very loud. They have music playing and a bar so it can be hard to hear at times with all the conversations and music going on. A good place to visit before a night out.

We celebrated our father's 80th Birthday with a Boodle Fight feast for 14 last month, and we had such a memorable time. The food was great and bountiful, with a beautiful presentation. The service was warm and attentive. The atmosphere was festive. The first time we went we ordered the Boodle Fight Club which was a delicious sampler of what we thought the restaurant had to offer. It was super delicious and we had such fun that we came back again a few weeks later! The ambiance and vibe was amazing. Because of that first time we went back and we took my American hubby with me (he said he didn't want to come back) It was disappointing that the best dishes from the Boodle Fight Club (especially the Boneless Bangus) was not available a la carte. We were told you have to come for lunch for that. The kinilaw was perfect the first time but it seems hit or miss since it was not as good on our second trip. The beef kare kare was nothing special and has a curious after taste. Not sure we will be back again unless we're a group of at least 6 to do the Boodle fight but will NOT go back for the a La carte menu? There are others in the LES, pop-up resto and in Queens that will give you a more delicious bang for your bucks on Filipino Cuisine. Sorry just being honest. read more

what and experience! when it comes to filipino food (as a filipino) it gets complicated. food isn't just about how it's tasted, but the experience of eating it. from the second we sat at the bar. brandon took care of us, and it reminded me of being at a filipino party with my family where the first concern is have i eaten and if i want a drink. hospitality but at a familial level. if you want to experience filipino culture, it isn't just the food, it's the people hosting and the community you share the meal with. 10/10 will be back. read more

During our first visit to NYC, we were on a mission to find a top-notch Filipino restaurant with an authentic Kamayan/Boodle Fight experience--and we hit the jackpot! We ordered the 'Boodle Fight Club' with everything, and it was hands-down the best Filipino meal we've had so far. The garlic shrimp and Bangus (milkfish) were standout delicious, but honestly, everything on the board was a total winner. Highly recommend this spot for a memorable group meal. Amazing filipino food, I only had it once before, but this is even better than I remembered. I want to commend Kalye for their outstanding catering service. I placed a catering order two weeks in advance for delivery on the afternoon of Christmas Eve. Unfortunately, due to circumstances beyond their control, the delivery company canceled the order, and it appears the driver took the food after it had already been picked up from the restaurant. Despite this setback, Kalye did not hesitate to step in. Through prompt follow-up communication, they immediately remade the entire order and arranged for delivery using their own staff, ensuring we received our food within a couple of hours. Because of their quick action, we were still able to enjoy our meal on Christmas Eve. The kare kare was enjoyable but our least favorite entree (the short rib was a little fatty but it is short rib after all). I liked that it came with eggplant, green beans and bok choy. This dish definitely benefited from adding the shrimp paste it comes with to the sauce. Speaking of the sauce, it is mainly just a strong peanut flavor, I would have enjoyed some spice or vinegar as the dish is a bit heavy. The shrimp paste added a nice salty component though. The lamb kaldereta was divine (think Filipino lamb rogan josh), I just wish I had naan or some bread to wipe up the sauce (we made do with the garlic rice instead). The lamb was super tender and is served on the bone, I just wish there was a bit more meat. I think they added melted cheese on top which went really well with the dish. Space is tight with uncomfortable plastic chairs but that's as close as you can get for an authentic experience. I think overall, the flavors are authentic, fresh, and well-balanced. The following is what we ordered: Beef skewers platter (off menu item): Savory, perfectly grilled beef skewers wrapped in betel leaves, served alongside fresh herbs, woven vermicelli and savory dipping sauce. This is something you can always find in other Vietnamese restaurant. The skewers were flavorful and well seasoned and my kids had a fun time assembling the wraps themselves. Crispy fried rolls filled with fried taro, kholrabi, and carrot: super crunchy and packed with flavor. Well fried without the feeling of it being too greasy or heavy. One our favorite dish. Fried eggplant served with peanuts, soft-boiled egg, and soy sauce: The richness of the soft-boiled egg paired with the tender eggplant was fantastic. And I enjoyed the added textures from the peanuts and scallions. Raw surf clam salad with snow fungus: bright, refreshing, and great texturally which makes a great starter. Crispy fried tofu tossed in a fragrant scallion fish sauce: the tofu was fried perfectly and we loved how it's paired with scallions and its oil. Stuffed snails with lemongrass and pork: this one was so so for me. I felt there's way too much herbs and wish there's more meat and less herbs as I felt like I was just chewing on herbs. The snail is so small I almost couldn't find it while others didn't even know there's snail inside and thought it was just pork. It's still incredibly fragrant and juicy, but the meat to herb ratio was a little off for me. Service was really quick and since you're not sitting on the most comfortable chairs. You won't want to stay for too long anyway. It's kind of like an Asian fast, street food vibes. Another thing I want to touch on it their restroom is incredibly small and uncomfortable. There's barely any room to turn around at all. Overall, I think it's a unique experience but menu option is very limited and it's definitely overpriced for what you get. It's most likely going to be a 1 time experience for me.
