Pork Sisig
Joe S.

Much better experience this time around! Food came by quicker than my first visit, though I suspect it's because we came in earlier. Samuel up front was great, and was very welcoming. It certainly got busier after a bit, and it was quite buzzing! I will certainly keep coming back when I'm in town!

Not heard of this Filipino place until today. We were not disappointed without dining experience. A hidden gem in lower east side. They are famous for sisig. We had the milkffsh option and loved it. We tried their fried Kare- Kare and enjoyed as well. The place has unique and classic decors that make it interesting. It showcases old Filipino household items. The vibes is nostalgic with modern twist and your heart will melt on how the place ambiance is to you. Beautiful experience.

Great casual, cozy vibes all around. The front of the house is a classic bar, and in the back there are tables for groups of 4-6. They blast the heat which is greatly appreciated during winter. Of course, we got the pork sisig and it was phenomenal. Their garlic rice was so easy to eat as well. The Kare Kare was nice and tender, with plenty of sauce to put over rice. Overall, a hearty filling meal. It is a bit heavy and saucey, but that might be because of the things we ordered.

This place is called house of sisig for a reason! Ordered the pork version--undoubtedly the best dish at the table. Every bite is crispy, meaty, fatty, and savory. The bulalo soup is so homey as well. The beefy broth soothes the soul. The side orders of garlic rice are so clutch though. I would say it's a must order. Great fluffy texture and heavy garlic notes, as expected. Every worker I interacted with is very hospitable as well.

Sooo yummy and glad I finally got to try this place! We got the Pork Sisig with Java Rice, Chicken Sisig with Garlic Rice, and an Ube Shake. All friggin delicious. The flavors are strong and fragrant. We personally enjoyed the Garlic Rice over the Java Rice, just felt the flavors were more significant. The Pork Sisig comes with the crispiest pieces of pork skin and it (esp the oil) is a really good contrast and pairing with the rice. We really enjoyed the ube shake too, wasn't too sweet at all and the portion is huge. Def want to come back soon!!

This place specializes in sisig and oh my gosh it is incredible!! I got the pork belly sisig and it was crispy, savory, and perfect with the garlic rice! The portion was larger than I expected and I got full faster than I thought I would. Would love to come back to try the longsilog :))

Delicious Filipino lunch enjoying Sisig and BBQ Pork! Friendly and attentive staff. Plenty of authentic Filipino dishes!

I tried the crispy pork sisig with garlic rice and soup. Honestly, it was too oily and heavy and the soup had sour flavors, I ended up not finishing both. We ordered at the front and there was not much customer service, as for the environment it was decent.

My cousin and I were the first ones to come today and it was delicious! We walked around until Mama Fina's opened. There's a lot of space with a feel like you're in Lola's (grandma's) dining room waiting for her to tell you the food is ready. It reminded me of home and made us want to go back to the PI. The Kare Kare and Pork Sisig had us speechless with joy and full although the portion seemed a bit small especially with the Kare Kare. Overall it was worth the wait and the service was amazing!

I am usually not the biggest fan of Filipino food because there is a limited amount of options for me but I enjoyed the food and mostly the ambience of Mama Fina's Ambience: it is a really beautiful and spacious spot. They have these long wooden tables that make everything feel cozy. The decor is a bit eclectic (Christmas decorations were still up for example) but it all fit so well Service: a note, you can't get a seat without ordering first. They were quick but also didn't rush us which was nice Food: I ordered the chicken siseg and it was pretty good! I'd recommend getting the garlic rice to go with it. The food was flavorful and very crunchy! Price: the chicken siseg cost me $30 with tip and tax

I haven't heard of Mama Fina's Filipono Restaurant and my friends from New Jersey told me about it and had to check it out. We went there one evening and ordered their famous pork and squid sisig, kare kare and crispy adobo. All were so good! I would love to try more dishes but they have generous serving I can't eat some more. The service was okay. Casual ambiance and there's street parking. Check it out!

One of my go-to and favorite filipino restaurants in the city! Their pork sisig is nothing short of spectacular; I think it's my favorite dish and sisig I've had. Only thing is that the food can be pretty pricey. But this is the spot I bring my friends who never had filipino food to and they always crave the sisig. The service is good and the ambiance of the restaurant is very nice and casual. Mabuhay!

First off, the best sisig i've tried in America. Closest to back home. Definitely coming back when I'm in NY. Don't expect a formal dining experience, given that it's a small restaurant but you go there for the food more than anything!!

Do they take reservations?

How much is a boodle fight?

Not sure, doll. But I'm from San Diego & when I went to eat there... EVERYTHING we ordered was litty! Can't go wrong w/ anything on their menu=*}

Do they have vegetarian or vegan options? Is the tofu sisig vegetarian?

I contacted the restaurant on FB asking about vegetarian options. The reply: The only items that are vegetarian:… Read more

They were packed full of flavor and one if the best pork skewers I've ever had. We also had the pork sisig, which had a great mix of tender and crispy pork pieces. It was paired great with the garlic rice. And for dessert, we had the ube sipao, which came out warm and topped with coconut and filled with ube -- the perfect way to end a meal. They have a lot of small tables. Service was pretty quick and staff members were nice and answered all questions. It's a place I would definitely return to in the future.

It's not the biggest restaurant though, so we probably got lucky (you should definitely make a res). -- Pork BBQ skewers were so delicious! The BBQ sauce was just the right amount of sweet, and the pork was cooked so well (juicy and tender). Portion size did feel a bit small for the price point, though -- Pork sisig was good. I liked how the onions / sour flavouring complemented the savoury flavour of the pork. It was a bit too salty to eat by itself (and we didn't quite finish), but fortunately we had some rice on the side to mellow it out somewhat. -- Finally we had the bangus binalot, which was good too. Milkfish is not the most common to find in the US and I was pleasantly surprised to find such a great dish here. It did not feel too oily/heavy from frying, and the fish paired excellently with the fragrant garlic rice. Overall, I had a very nice meal, and the price point was not unreasonable. I think overall the food felt a little salty, but otherwise everything was quite delicious. I think they've moved (nearby) since my visit and I'd love to re-visit and try some of their other dishes!

Unfortunately, we were immediately told that they would not be taking any walk-ins So, just one friend and I snagged a reservation for the following Saturday. This time around they did let in a few walk-ins at the bar, but they cut that off pretty quickly. It seems the space is much larger than you would expect. We were seated right in front by the window so I didn't go back and explore, but the more you know. Staff were really lovely and attentive and gave us a few recommendations as well. Pancit Kabute - There is no subtle way to explain that this is hands down one of the best noodle dishes I have ever had. So creamy and mushroomy; the fried egg on top is such a perfect addition. YOU NEED TO TRY THIS. I will be back for this over and over and over... Classic Filipino Platter with Chicken Adobo - Just really classic and simple. Very well made, loved the chicken. Comes with a lovely, gingery broth. Salted Egg Pancake - Delicious and the perfect way to end the brunch on a sweet note. Tastes almost like an elevated corn cake (maybe even pound cake). The addition of citrus is so perfect. You can't go here and not get this (this is what first caught my eye on social media actually). For one of my best friends being Filipino, it's a little surprising that I haven't had a lot of Filipino food. I've dabbled, but nothing had really stood out until this experience. Amazing! I've been recommending this place to everyone I know.
