Chubby Trio Bowl (Wagyu Eggplant Stir-Fry, Wagyu Mapo Tofu, Thai Basil Wagyu, quinoa rice)
    Lila L.

First time trying this place out and got the Chubby Trio Bowl for takeout. I chose Thai Basil Wagyu, Wagyu Eggplant, Wagyu Mapo Tofu, and Quinoa Rice. The flavors are great, taste fresh, and easy to mix with rice. However, the eggplant and mapo tofu sauce was quite oily. At first, I thought my rice was missing but there is another layered part of the bowl under the proteins. They have a cool pick-up system like an Amazon locker where you input your name and the door pops open. The food is in an insulated bag so that's a nice touch as well. Plenty of seatings and very spacious looking forward to my next visit!

2 stars for good customer service. To highlight the pictures on UberEats are very misleading. On UberEats Wagyu Fried Rice is basically the same size as the Duo bowl. In reality more like half the size if that. This review is for the Wagyu Fried Rice I had. Original price $9 for overall portion the size of my hand which is still okay if the ingredients are top notch. The moment I opened the lid I thought the little black dots were grinder pepper. No, that was the wagyu. For the tiny piece of it I could taste it was tough to chew on and basically on par with average fatty beef you can find in any supermarket. The fried rice was soggy from oil and texture is definitely not as good as your typical fried rice made with leftover rice from day before. Value wise this should be more of a $3 order maybe $4 if pushing it for the "wagyu" experience.

I was walking by here on the way to dinner and saw that they had $1 deals for their egg tarts and just had to swing by. The interior of the restaurant is spacious with lots of seating, and it's very lively. We ordered at the kiosks that they had there and also saw that there was a $1 milk tea deal. Of course, we also got that haha. Their egg tarts were actually really good and flaky (I mean, for $1, it's hard to beat). Meanwhile, their milk tea was from a dispenser and was just okay. I'll have to come back for their bowls, which also looked really good (and were under $10!).

Walking past by Chubby Bowls a week ago and decided to give a try. Great concept for Asian quick food. Kiosk order or by the counter and got the food within 5mins. I signed up the member (free) to accumulate points. They also have a paid-membership for discount price of bowls and other food ($4/month?) Nice decor and spacious inside. Many booths and tables. Staff were friendly and efficient. Drink is self serve. You can get any drink and refills. I got a combo with veggie fried rice, premium waygu beef cube, mapo tufu and a drink. Rice is a little hard, prob need to be cooked longer. Beef cubes are great. Good seasoning and cooked nicely (pink in center). Mapo tufu definitely has a kick. It's great to mix it with rice. Unsweetened ice tea is good for the occasion. Overall a solid spot for quick and comfort meal. No drama self service place.

The food is amazing here and ambiance is really nice here as well definitely recommend to come as a date or with friends, service is so good here too!! My only complain is the portion sizes, you pay about 15$ for a chubby bowl and they give more rice than then protein or side dishes..i ordered the vegetable fried rice and the portion was small which was a bummer bc it was good but i rather go panda express for x3 portion for what we paid for but food is great tho just the portions are so small

I stopped by today to take advantage of the Knicks Win promo. Buy one get one free bowls. (No drinks). I was told they opened a few wks ago and still in soft opening mode and need some time to perfect everything so maybe July for official opening You order by kiosks. I already signed up for the chubby club via app So this is like a high end Panda Express. You choose one base. I got veggie fried rice for one bowl. veggie lo mein for another. Then you pick 2 proteins (some cost 50c to $1.50 more). All have Wagyu. I went with the eggplant Wagyu, Cumin Wagyu, Thai Wagyu, mapo tofu Wagyu. Everything is fresh to order so it took a few min. The takeout orders are packed well. Also the bowl container is unique where the 2 proteins are on top in a separate 2 side plate which fits on top of the bowl where the base is on bottom. Thus no sauces are mixed which is clean. I didn't get a drink but large self service area of Chinese sugar drinks. Large clean space in dining room. Well staffed. Food is good. Maybe too rich in sauciness and salty. I liked the cumin Wagyu the most. The bases lo mein and veggie fried rice were actually very good bc they were fresh to order. Pricing is a bit expensive at $14.95 minimum pre tax and tip for a bowl. But it is Wagyu. Note the meat is OK to good quality but don't expect prime aged ribeye here. Gd luck!

Tried Chubby Bowl near Union Square today, and it was a fantastic experience! We ordered two Duo Bowls. One was packed with Mapo Tofu, Black Pepper Wagyu Cubes, and Wagyu Fried Rice, while the other had Chubby Chicken, Thai Basil Wagyu, and healthy rice. The portions are very generous, and the food tasted great overall. Plus, the indoor seating area is surprisingly spacious and comfortable with plenty of room. Highly recommend!

I was around Union Square and decided to tried Chubby Bowls. I love the decor and love the anime-themed vibe. I tried the veggie fried rice with salt & pepper shrimp, chow mein with chubby chicken, and the wings. The chubby chicken was my favorite, the tangerine sauce gave it some sweetness. The chow mein was good, the shrimp was cooked well and the wings were crispy. I also had their refreshing drink selection, it was not too sweet which was good. It a big spot and has a lot of seating. I think people should stop by and try this spot when they are around the area.

I'm impressed by this new concept of a chubby group! I was surprised by how affordable the prices are, considering the high-quality ingredients. The food was good and flavorful, and I wouldn't have guessed it was made by robot machines. The staff was friendly, and the restaurant is spacious and clean. This would be the best fast-food/to-go restaurant.

    Takeout
    Fay K.

Chubby Bowls makes fresh flavorful Asian food with no additives. The stir fries taste healthy and the vegetable lomein is not greasy. Takeout orders are stored in locked cubicles on the left wall upon entry. To release the cubicle with your food, enter in the first four letters of your first name, or if your first name is only three letters, then also add your last name initial e.g. FayK. The food is packed in a well sealed quality tote bag lined with insulation to keep your food warm. There are plenty of tables to eat in, the space is flamboyantly yet tastefully decorated in red and looks very clean. Counter service is friendly but I discovered them to be careless. When I returned to my office with my order, I found that I was missing two Wagyu fried rice portions that came with my order. I was able to get a refund for the missing items from Door Dash. I would advise you to check your order when picking up.

Cumin Beef, Black Pepper Wagyu Cubes, Wagyu Fried Rice

    - got cumin beef and beef pepper cubes with wagyu fried rice - close to $22 - portions are quite small (2/3 of a panda plate) - the pic is deceiving - the rice was less than an inch in height, and the plate is quite small - food was surprisingly good - beef was seasoned well and rlly tender - prob won't come back because it's so pricey for the amount of food

Super glad I checked out Chubby Bowl right by Union Square. The dine-in space is really spacious and has plenty of seating. We got the Duo Bowls and shared a mix of Mapo Tofu, Black Pepper Wagyu Cubes, Wagyu Fried Rice, Chubby Chicken, and Thai Basil Wagyu. Everything was full of flavor and the portions are huge. Great spot for a satisfying and hearty meal!

i really liked the eggplant wagyu, it has the wok flavor and it wasn't tooo greasy or salty, with the quinoa rice it tasted just right. but i didn't like how the texture of the rice was. it was more on the rubbery side.

The cocktail was refreshing and delicious. The hospitality was truly exceptional. Omar, the Assistant General Manager, checked on us throughout the meal and made sure everything was perfect. Erik was equally wonderful--extremely attentive, welcoming, and professional. He made us feel genuinely cared for throughout the entire meal. Ambiance: This place has a nice ambiance, definitely very "New York" -- dark (you can't see how dirty the floor is) and loud music (maybe too loud). We sat upstairs (we had a reservation) and of all the people on the top there was a party of 4 (us), a party of 8 (all dudes celebrating something) and the rest of the tables were on a DATE - which I thought was funny. Service: We were served by Ann-Marie who was so delightful. She was kind, super nice, and took the time to speak to us (which is basically how we figured out she wasn't a native New York City person). She gave us good food suggestions and we were very happy with our selection. Food: Here is what we ordered * Steak Frites: My two boys got the steak frites and I have to say the steak was awesome! I had a bite of each of theirs and they each ordered it differently (one Medium Rare/Medium and one Medium) and they both were prepared PERFECTLY. The fries were overflowing. * Caeser Salad with Salmon: My wife got the salad with Salmon (they only have a few salad options) and she enjoyed it. * Prawn and Crab Risotto: I got this and I have to say it was VERY bland. I wouldn't get this if you are looking for taste. I had to put salt and pepper on it to make it have any semblance of taste. Value/Price: I would say this is not over priced but it is not cheap either...bill is attached. I would recommend it to folks who are looking for a good place to either go out on a date or a family type meal.

I'm sure I could have gotten more cocktail sauce, since I don't like tartar sauce, but it wasn't necessary. The calamari was so good. The lobster bisque was delicious and the picture can't show you that it was full of lobster.
