Veggie fried rice. Cumin Wagyu. Eggplant Wagyu
    Andrew C.

I stopped by today to take advantage of the Knicks Win promo. Buy one get one free bowls. (No drinks). I was told they opened a few wks ago and still in soft opening mode and need some time to perfect everything so maybe July for official opening You order by kiosks. I already signed up for the chubby club via app So this is like a high end Panda Express. You choose one base. I got veggie fried rice for one bowl. veggie lo mein for another. Then you pick 2 proteins (some cost 50c to $1.50 more). All have Wagyu. I went with the eggplant Wagyu, Cumin Wagyu, Thai Wagyu, mapo tofu Wagyu. Everything is fresh to order so it took a few min. The takeout orders are packed well. Also the bowl container is unique where the 2 proteins are on top in a separate 2 side plate which fits on top of the bowl where the base is on bottom. Thus no sauces are mixed which is clean. I didn't get a drink but large self service area of Chinese sugar drinks. Large clean space in dining room. Well staffed. Food is good. Maybe too rich in sauciness and salty. I liked the cumin Wagyu the most. The bases lo mein and veggie fried rice were actually very good bc they were fresh to order. Pricing is a bit expensive at $14.95 minimum pre tax and tip for a bowl. But it is Wagyu. Note the meat is OK to good quality but don't expect prime aged ribeye here. Gd luck!

Walking past by Chubby Bowls a week ago and decided to give a try. Great concept for Asian quick food. Kiosk order or by the counter and got the food within 5mins. I signed up the member (free) to accumulate points. They also have a paid-membership for discount price of bowls and other food ($4/month?) Nice decor and spacious inside. Many booths and tables. Staff were friendly and efficient. Drink is self serve. You can get any drink and refills. I got a combo with veggie fried rice, premium waygu beef cube, mapo tufu and a drink. Rice is a little hard, prob need to be cooked longer. Beef cubes are great. Good seasoning and cooked nicely (pink in center). Mapo tufu definitely has a kick. It's great to mix it with rice. Unsweetened ice tea is good for the occasion. Overall a solid spot for quick and comfort meal. No drama self service place.

I was so excited to have this since they started construction and to be honest, wasnt worth the money. For $27.55 food should've been hot.... The girl who took my order was nice, and the place seems clean

The food is amazing here and ambiance is really nice here as well definitely recommend to come as a date or with friends, service is so good here too!! My only complain is the portion sizes, you pay about 15$ for a chubby bowl and they give more rice than then protein or side dishes..i ordered the vegetable fried rice and the portion was small which was a bummer bc it was good but i rather go panda express for x3 portion for what we paid for but food is great tho just the portions are so small

This place needs to be on your list!! My first time trying chubby bowls and I loved it. The quality of ingredients they use separates them the wagyu is top tier imported from Australia. Service was so friendly and the food was ready pretty fast. The ambiance is very clean and modern!! I would recommended this place to anyone because they have so much to offer on their menu.

I walked by and saw Chubby Bowls were finally open! They're in their soft opening phase so still ironing kinks out. I ordered two of their DIY combos. I highly recommend the wagyu fried rice, string beans, fried mushrooms, and the jasmine milk tea. Everything was well seasoned and not too salty. The combo came out to be around $25. For the amount of food I got, I was pleasantly full. For the drinks, you serve yourself and I love that you can also get refills. The space is huge with plenty of seating. The chairs were comfy and tables were the right height. The service is also amazing and everyone was smiling. I would come back and try their other entrees!

Ordered Chubby Bowls for takeout and the wagyu bowl was still fresh, warm, and flavorful when it arrived.

Ordered Chubby Bowls for takeout and the wagyu bowl was still fresh, warm, and flavorful when it arrived. The wagyu tasted rich and tender, and I love that they use avocado oil. You can taste the difference!

    Vegetable Fried Rice

I discovered the place via TikTok, they've only been open for three months. I enjoy the food and most importantly the actual space. It's really big have a lot of seating space and what I love the most is that they had the TV with the World Cup game playing so it was absolutely lit for me. I order chubby chicken with vegetable fried rice and my brother got Wagyu&broccoli with chow mein. The food was really good; the chicken was crunchy yet soft and tender inside. Also, the wagyu taste really yummy. However, the only thing I didn't love was the vegetable rice. The veggies on the rice felt a bit raw and the overall flavor had a weird charcoal after taste. I will be going back though. Last but not least the service was very pleasant I hope they dont change.

The pad thai noodles are a big thinner than i've had before but that didn't bother me, it has such great flavor too. The drunken noodles are not spicy in my opinion but i can handle a bit of heat. Located within the historic Chelsea Market building--a former Nabisco factory where Oreo cookies were first produced--the restaurant feels theatrical in the best possible way. The soaring ceilings, dramatic lighting, and energetic atmosphere create a sense of occasion from the moment you walk in. It feels less like simply going out to dinner and more like stepping into a beautifully staged production. I started with a Botanist Gin Martini with a twist, which paired wonderfully with the meal. The surprise star of the evening was the new Cucumber Tiger Salad. The balance of flavors was exceptional: bright acidity, a pleasant touch of heat, and just enough mint to make each bite feel fresh and exciting. Every so often the mint would come through and suddenly all the flavors would click together in a way that made me immediately want another bite. This is a dish I would happily order again. Next came the Edamame Dumplings. They were delicate and comforting, especially when enjoyed with the accompanying broth. The broth adds depth and richness that elevates the entire dish. My only suggestion would be the slightest touch more salt, perhaps even a finishing sprinkle of black volcanic salt for both flavor and presentation. I also found myself wishing there were a bit more of that delicious broth because it contributes so much to the overall experience. For my entrée, I ordered the Glazed Alaskan Black Cod, and it absolutely lived up to its reputation. The fish was rich, buttery, and perfectly prepared. What impressed me most was how thoughtfully the accompaniments were composed. The pickled cucumbers brought brightness, acidity, and crunch, while the black bean and eggplant relish delivered deep savory notes and unexpected complexity. I'm generally not an eggplant fan, but this relish was outstanding. The cucumbers and relish sit at opposite ends of the flavor spectrum, yet both somehow make the cod even better. Looking back, I think a glass of Sauvignon Blanc alongside the cod would have been the perfect pairing. I finished with the Miso Caramel Milk Bar, which was spectacular. Decadent, sweet, salty, and touched with just enough umami to keep every bite interesting. The chocolate crumble underneath added a wonderful crunch that contrasted beautifully with the creamy ice cream and luscious caramel sauce. Every component worked together perfectly, creating a dessert that was both indulgent and sophisticated. From start to finish, the meal felt polished, thoughtful, and memorable. Thank you!

We had three of the hot apps, Foie gras, lobster shumai with caviar and morel mushroom with spinach crystal dumplings. After that we're deciding between the quail and beef tenderloin wok dishes. Since the quail was spicy went with tenderloin which came with small serving of rice. All the food was great. I felt the crystal dumpling needed a kicked and they brought Out there house soy and hot vinegar sauce. For drinks I tried there mix of a classic martini with an old fashioned and after discussions with there somm who nicely recommended a more affordable bottle that would meet our needs got the Chardonnay by glass as a bottle. Enjoyed the meal though likely spent 5 times what usually spend on Chinese place mainly due to cost of alcohol. Place is well designed with a look similar to Butter downtown with the arched ceiling mixed with with the sound dampening feature of similar design of bar Boulod. Will return to try the quail and the lobster spring rolls and if they keep to this standard will increase rating to 5.

The crudo was pretty small and nothing to write home about, and the eggplant and tofu curry were a bit under-seasoned for me. Be aware that the lighting is dim and the background noise is loud! The front bar room is so loud that you have to shout with your guest. Our party of 6 was seated in a tiny booth which we had to ask for an additional chair to accommodate us. Service (5/5): We were able to get someone's attention to order and we were refilled on water often. The food was organized by appetizers and entrees that arrive all at the same time. The wait between ordering and food felt reasonable to short. The waiter also specified that certain dishes quantity (i.e. potstickers) could be increased to accommodate our party size for an extra cost. Food (5/5): TLDR; every dish was honestly SO good; I was surprised and will rank the items by 'must get' to skippable: Short Rib Bao Bun (3 pc): The short rib was so tender and flavorful. The bao bun was soft. The sauce was thick and worked well with the short rib. Pork Potstickers (5 pc): I preferred this over the lobster and scallion dumplings. The exterior skin is pan-fried with a nice glaze, hint of truffle. The bite was umami from the creaminess of the Parmigiano Reggiano. Chicken Satay (3 pc): The 3 pieces of chicken were relatively large, very tender, seasoned well. They were well complemented with the peanut sauce that is worth keeping to dip into other things! Don't sleep on the side of spicy cucumber salad, which was so well balanced in tartness and flavor. Pad Thai: This is one of the best Pad Thai I've ever had! The flavors are bursting, with a balance of sweetness, nuttiness from the peanuts, and tartness from a squeeze of lime. Peking Duck for 2: This dish is definitely more than enough for our party of 6 and appeared to be a half serving of the whole duck. The duck pieces are pre-cut for us to self-assemble into the wraps (not the usual bao bun but like thin tortilla wraps). I think I counted 8 wraps? Triple Pork Fried Rice: The rice has a lot of depth and generous chunks of pork. The rice is thicker than regular jasmine with a more chew which I liked. Dragon Tail Spare Ribs: Although this has a nice flavor, handling with your fingers makes them super sticky for your whole dining experience. The restaurant should give out wet towelettes if this dish is ordered!! Meat was tender and easy to chomp off the bone. Tuna Tartare: A small quarter-sized tartare dollop is served atop a small cube bread. The fish was fresh, presentation was beautiful. Was hoping for more tartare for the price point but it was very good. Overall, the dish was not filling so would skip if the party is hungry. Lobster and Scallop Dumplings: Great flavor with reasonable chunks of meat inside. Just preferred the potstickers a lot more! Bok Choy: Pieces were chopped in half and cooked with a nice crunch. Topped with something that gave it more texture. The garlicy taste was forward (in a good way). Rainbow Roll: While it was fresh and the individual pieces were large in portion, this felt like any other sushi roll. Skip this! Side of White Rice is $9?! That's theft and is skippable The amount of food ordered was probably a little more than what we needed but glad we ordered as many as we did.

Personally, I felt it was not the most respectful placement. Overall, I still enjoyed the experience and would love to come back again to see the beautiful giant Buddha.
