    Elevated food court menu.
    Alex Y.

Been a loyal customer of Kam Ho Restaurant from the mid 1990s (from it's initial location in Union Square Shopping Center to it's second home on Alexandra Road) to it's most current incarnation in the food court of Admiralty Center. I ordered their famous wonton noodle soup. The H.K. style noodles were simmered perfectly with a chewy texture, kind of makes me feel I'm back enjoying hawker food in Hong Kong. The pork and shrimp wontons were of a good portion size. I did find though the soup was a little salty, probably too mush MSG. Not bad for $7.50 all in. The place only takes cash like all the other vendors in the food court. Due to the pandemic seating is limited so you may have to wait awhile for another parton to finish before getting a seat. There is plenty of free parking on the upper and lower levels of the mall's parking lot.

Wonton noodle soup, house special noodle soup, free range Hainanese chicken
    JT C.

One of my friend kept on talking about this place and his go to place for wonton noodle soup and Hainanese chicken take out whenever he's in the Richmond area. Had the opportunity to tried their noodle soup at the Richmond night market but I craved for how they are at their actual home base. This place is located on the second floor at the food court in the Admiralty Center in Richmond. There are plentiful of free parking spaces in this old plaza. It's pretty much across the street from Bubble Queen. The whole food court closes at 4pm so keep that in mind. To be honest I didn't know there's a food court in this center. Anyways, here were the food I ordered; 1. Wonton noodle soup. The wontons were very old school way which I enjoyed cause that's exactly how I liked them when I was a kid, taste wise and all, fresh and simple to the point. The egg noodles were good, no waxy and gamey taste. And the soup was hot with that wonton flavour. 2. The house special noodle soup. It's pretty much all the meats, meatballs and a pig feet. All the ingredients tasted fresh and tender, very nice! 3. Hainanese chicken. Got the last half of it, customers behind were told all sold out. The free range chicken was really fresh, nice subtle Hainanese chicken taste with a thin layer of Hainanese chicken oil visible on the skin. Juicy and tender! Loved it! I guess this little plaza like many others that were built in the early 90s are slowly forgotten and less human presence because it just didn't quite kept up with time and trend. However, some of these places hide some of the best little places. Thank goodness for once my friend's recommendation is decently good. For those of you who enjoy some tasty old school wonton or assorted beef noodle soup or good Hainanese chicken then give this place a try if you haven't. Solid 3.5 stars, definitely a repeat for me.

The hai nan chicken meal is unassuming and so fresh!! The $12 meal comes with rice, soup and 2 sauces. My young kiddos ate every bite!! Strangely, I really enjoyed the Chinese soup. Long line but moves pretty quickly.

note: theyre closed on mondays. the owner/cashier polite&accommodating. the special noodle soup quite good. the hainan chicken good too and the wanton noodle soup . ambiance , quite busy place. this area is cleaner compared to odlin crescent building .very long line. service fairly quick. take out not bad too

Wonton + beef brisket dry noodles

Located in the food court of the plaza. Very fast and friendly owners. It is at a lower price point compared to dine in restaurants of course. The food is just as good or even better than other wonton restaurant joints. I highly recommend the beef brisket with wontons with the dry noodles. This place serves a good portion and the food is tasty. Everything has flavour especially the dry noodles compare to other places. Would recommend this place if you are looking for a quick meal and good wonton noodles.

    Wonton noodle soup

Wonton Noodles are soo delicious. Super affordable and gives a warm feeling. Great portion size, noodles have great texture and the broth/ wontons have lots of flavour!

Hei Hei Rice Roll is legit good, totally recommend, even my daughter too, I thought of her ( since she LOVES rice roll and couldn't make it on this trip with me) while enjoying these roll but when I shared with her the photos and mention that we will go back here with her- she already visited. She said it was so good! Hei Hei Rice Roll is located at the Richmond Public Market, oh wow - this place is really popular, on the 2nd visit I was the first in line then the line wasn't so long but while waiting for our order, the line got super long. I was lucky I didn't wait long in line. Best to arrive early. I am not sure what the secret to the rice roll but Wow, it's so thin, silky, smooth texture with the toppings, so great together. The last 2 times we had rice roll with my daughter at Portland and Seattle- followed per Instagram reels- those did not even compare to these rolls. My first visit I got the combo which is the best deals, starts at $15.50 but depends on what you select for the selection for rice rolls and congee. I got the pork & preserved egg congee, shrimp, mushroom, pork rice roll. The 2nd visit I got the combo again, with liver & preserved egg congee, scallop and shrimp rice rolls, but I got my order wrong for the roll- they missed the shrimp. fyi-I found out that bean sprout, corn, toppings are free! Both combo came out to $17. super cheap! Cash only, they take USD but its the same dollar $ value. I wish they take credit cards, hehe. & the Verdict: Yummy, the congee hits the spot for comfort food, loved how it is cooked and they add peanuts too. Love the packet of sauce for the rice rolls, the umami-ness, so good. Best to eat it hot and fresh! Don't forget to ask for chili sauce, to add that extra spicy kick! For now, I am not sure I'll ever find a spot that is closest to Hei Hei for my congee and rice roll fix until I get to visit Richmond, BC again.

Usual table service was in place. Took our order and food came out at acceptable pace. When we were done, they politely boxed up the leftovers and we paid our bill. So service was on point. The food we ordered came out hot. The staples that I order to test was hargow, suimai and pai gwut(spareribs). All 3 dishes in general were good.....the hargow could have used an extra minute or 2 in the steamer. The suimai was very good. I tasted every ingredient in this dish. Usually it is just a complete mix and you can't discern the different flavors. They tried something different with the cheongfun by adding pieces of Chinese donut to the roll. I personally think it didn't add much to the dish, taste or texture wise. I did like the pea shoots with shrimp. I think it is a good combo. All in all a good dimsum. I also noticed they did not charge us a tea service. The cost of the food is comparable with other restaurants at this level. I used to come here often with friends and families for breakfast and wanted to see whether it still tasted just as good. We each got two items from the breakfast combo, A through D. A to Cs are our usual options and upgrade to French toast. The eggs were somewhat on the drier side and i personally prefer fluffy ones. The beef noodles and the congee continue to be my favorites. The beef noodle broth is flavorful and the congee definitely comforted my soul. The items listed in D are always a miss. We have tried all items and none of them was delicious. For example, the steamed rice rolls were very doughy. Other times, they were very dry. The items in D sometimes felt like they're frozen dim sum items sold at grocery stores. Service is a hit or miss depending on which server you get. Sometimes you get servers who come and refill tea and provides actual service. Other times, no one comes by at all even when there is no tea in cups, etc.
