The egg and ham sandwich is one of our favorites as well as the beef with egg on rice. The OX seafood fried rice is also highly recommended! My husband and I were out in Richmond and decided to head to Aberdeen Centre food court for a quick and simple dinner. I chose an Eggplant and Fish with Black Bean Sauce on rice from the Leung Kee Cantonese Food stall. I havn't been the biggest fan of black bean dishes throughout my life, but maybe my taste buds are changing or maybe this dish was just an exception to the rule because I really enjoyed this dish. My husband tried some of my dish and even though he's usually not as crazy about eggplant as I am, he really took a liking to this dish as well. I visited here on December 19th for lunch. I like the food in Leung Kee for the generous portions, but hygiene part was bothersome. I had to talk to the staff when there was a hair spotted in my food. Turns out none of the kitchen staff were hair nets when they should be. Counter staff gave me a new one without the hair. A night to remember in Richmond- Aberdeen Centre food court 4151 Hazelbridge Way, Richmond Leung Kee Cantonese Food Was in Richmond for the evening, decided to go to Aberdeen Centre Mall's food court... a huge array of food stall with many varieties of Asian food... lots of Cantonese cuisine. We were walking around & my hubby spotted the steamed meat pie on the menu... Say no more... this is it! He opted for the meat pie, the meat pie was Huge! Literally covered the surface of the takeout container, the flavours were spot on! Needless to say, my hubby was in heaven, for the price of $12.50, it was alot of food, comes with some fresh green veggies, to make it a combo, you can get a large iced lemon tea for $2.50. The iced lemon tea was good, not too sweet. I opted for the pork ribs cooked with black bean on rice, another huge serving! Comes with fresh veggies. I managed to eat only half of the portion & brought it home for the next meal. The pork ribs had lots of meat, it was tasty & not overpowered by the black beans. All in all an excellent meal with decent prices. If you are missing in Cantonese food without the exorbitant prices. Check it out, you won't regret it. Servers are pretty helpful & nice! Pictures look much better than the taste unfortunately here in the food court. The duck in the noodle soup was meaty but lacked seasoning and depth of flavor as was the broth. Good size serving but we didn't finish nor take it away. The beef noodles with black bean sauce was plentiful and close to decent but noodles were oily, the beef again lacked depth of flavor and there were about 4-6 pieces of peppers plus onions. They charged $0.50 for 2 cups of water, ok. And we got 2 small napkins that couldn't even be enough to wipe up the running sauce on the container. Noodles were oily, the sauce was very watery & overall taste was very bland. I was so off-put by the dish I didn't even try the complimentary soup. I have been leung kee loyal customer for several years now. They have delicious food and fairly good portions. Their prices are relatively cheaper than most Chinese restaurants these days. Now, their stir fried beef chow fun is what makes me drive 1.5hrs to get there. The restaurant is located inside the Aberdeen mall food court ( up the escalator to the 3rd floor and they will be 4 or 5th vendor to your right). I normally gravitate towards Mambo where I always get my Chow Gwai Diu Singapore flat rice noodles, but today I finally decided to give Leung Kee next door a try. I ordered the Chow Gwai Diu to compare, plus I noticed the fried glutinous rice and so I added that. Normal wait time. Can't say the Chow Gwai Diu was what I expected. First it didn't have the yellow curry. So I thought maybe they made it Malaysian style. But no, it just tasted like it's soy sauce based. The ingredients are also inferior as the have less prawns. It's still a good dish but just not what I expected. The fried rice had good volume and tasted good. The rice was a bit too soft as in overcooked. Then there's the lai tong soup. A standard pork soup spiked with MSG. Yes I'm sure there's MSG in the fried items too but this soup was just that taste. I'll stick with my favorite place next time. read more

This is Hong Kong food done right. Tastes very homey and goes above expectations in a some random ways. I.e. how do you roast duck that well in a food court in a mall? Iono but I am impressed. Price is right and the food is great too. Parents got the curry brisket noodle soup and roast duck noodle soup and both are good. Portion sizes are great and the duck is really flavorful. Soup on the duck noodle is clean tasting the way it should be. Noodles on the curry beef are thicker to absorb that curry flavor and its something I've never actually tried before but its quite good as well. It's not super potent but thin enough to enjoy without thinking that you're drinking curry. Can't really go wrong. Moreover, they gave us Green Pepper and Black Bean Sauce with Beef On Rice instead of Satay Beef On Rice. We only realized that after we left the place. They gave us the wrong food and the food and drink tasted horrible - the sauce was diluted with water, and the tea in the cold milk tea had minimal taste. Lots of choices in the Aberdeen Centre food court, but this place is one of my faves. I love the congee here! For a food court stall, their congee is actually better than some dim sum restaurant congees. I always get the Preserved egg & lean pork congee with pan fried radish cake combo. It comes up to just under $8 all in, which is pretty good value for a set meal. I sometimes add $1 for a drink add-on. Taste-wise, the congee is thick, flavourful, and has generous amounts of ingredients. The pan fried radish cake is not bad, although it is rather oily. Overall, a good place to grab lunch or dinner if you are craving some congee! read more

I *heart* Aberdeen Centre. The competition is so cutthroat here that pretty much every booth in the food court tastes awesome. Parking is available in the nearby lot. Just don't hit a pillar like one of those Asian drivers. I always chuckle at the sheer number of scrape marks over pretty much every pillar. Body shops and painters must be raking it in. I actually wasn't sure where to eat until I saw this stand, with pictures of their food stuck to the glass display case. Everything looked fine and dandy until I saw the "Photo for reference only" caption taped to one of their pictures. See photo. That was a head-scratcher. What else would the picture be used for? I guess they also didn't hear that I wanted to eat in, because my food came in styrofoam containers instead of plates. I think I killed twice as many fish and trees and I needed to. There was a bit of confusion as I was waiting for my order. I was given a numbered card, but I guess they're not sequential so I actually thought they had forgotten my order, but it came after some 10 minutes. Each combo comes with vegetable soup (Chinese-style Russian borscht). This stuff is always freaking awesome no matter where you go. Just be sure not to spill it on your shirt as the stuff is bright orange. BBQ pork - both tender, and not caked in fat. Really really beautiful. However, it was missing a little *something* that would put it in the same league as HK BBQ Master a few blocks away, or Kam Gok Yuen in Chinatown. I was really split between giving this place 4 stars or 5. It'd be a 4.5 if I had the ability. Soy chicken - also tender, and not-too-fatty. A special remark goes to their supplier. This is one of the best I've had anywhere. Curiously it came with a small dish of oil. Really fragrant and good, but this is the 1st time I've ever gotten one with soy chicken. Normally it comes with "white cut" chicken instead. Maybe I'm just ignant. Both combos came with a huge huge portion of rice. Unless you're a human garbeurator like myself, their combos can easily feed 2 people each. Add another place to buy from again. Recommended. read more

Pretty authentic but average Canto food in your Aberdeen food court. Nothing spectacular but not bad either. Definitely the pick if you're looking for something on the lighter side ie wonton soup. We ordered the wonton soup with dumplings and shrimp and both were delicious. I'd recommend going with the dumplings because they include shrimp among other ingredients as well like mushroom. Portions are a little small so order a side of the Chinese broccoli. You can also add a drink (lemon black tea) for an extra dollar. Leung Kee is always one of the top two places that I go two and I was definitely not disappointed on my latest visit. Today, I was craving something a little more saucey so I ordered the fried shrimp scrambled egg rice with a cold lemon tea. I was quite pleased to see how nice and big the portion was - definitely lots of shrimp and egg packed into one container! The food came relatively quick and nice and hot! Service was decent but the person taking orders didn't seem to know their own dishes, but I clarified in Chinese what I wanted. Overall, solid 4.5 stars. Leung Kee is located in Aberdeen Centre, and since I ate at Aberdeen so much during my week at Canada, I was able to try out most of the places that seemed very intriguing. My family and I definitely got a few favorite dishes from Leung Kee. I really liked their pork cake rice, which took awhile to make, but was always worth it. I tried their one with the pickled vegetables and the one without and both were really good. Mixed with the rice and the sauce that they provided, I didn't have a problem eating almost all of it! My sister also tried their BBQ duck rice, which came in a pretty big box with duck and some vegetables. The duck was pretty fresh, and it came with a lot of rice. And the other dish I really liked was their sticky rice. A very heavy, but very fulfilling dish. Came in a round foil bowl like the pork cake rice, but with the cilantro and everything, I loved it! Parking blows if you go during the lunch time peak hours, but if you get there before 11:45, it's pretty smooth sailing during the weekdays. Weekends though? Fuh-ged-aboudit. Recently, I ordered the Steamed Pork Spareribs with Chinese sausage on a bed of rice. This is a combo that comes with soup, a hot drink (coffee or tea) and an option to "upgrade" to a cold drink. They're popular for a reason: they make delicious, authentic Cantonese food, and give out huge portion sizes. I didn't see this on the menu, but I read a few reviews about it on Urbanspoon and Yelp, so I decide to try it! You have the option to swap out the plain rice for fried rice for an additional $1.00. It came out to about $8.50 for the meal + an iced lemon tea. I ended up waiting about 10 mins for my food. The portion size was huge and could definitely suffice for 2 people. There were about 5 pieces of pork chops. I ended up eating about 2 pieces and 1/4 quarters of the rice. Taste wise, it was pretty impressive for a food court! Definitely on par with some casual Cantonese restaurants. The pork chops were perfectly crispy and the interior was very moist. It was seasoned very well without being too salty. Everything was so good especially the lemon tea, I almost love it more than bubble tea. I've never had lemon tea that dark and strong before. Usually in New York, it's lighter and not as strong. The fried rice, yu choy, and wonton noodle soup was better than anything I've had in New York, but I think New York doesn't do Cantonese food that well. Except for maybe roast pork.
