This is my 2nd time back and got premium AYCE just like last time. I'm surprised it's visibly noticeable that they're skimping on the salmon slices. Those salmon are like paper thin. I get it's AYCE and we can get as much as we want, but the texture isn't the same Kan salmon doesn't look like the photo at all. I assume I got served the regular salmon. My fav is the snowflake salmon and truffle, but won't be back, the quality isn't justified at the price anymore.

First off the spot was super classy and my wife and I loved the atmosphere. We came on July 4th and it was super quiet but it was perfect for a nice date! As a person who can't eat a ton of sushi I was a little worried about paying all you can eat pricing but their menu was super diverse, they have great kimchi fried rice and good apps/soups so I was super happy and my wife enjoyed the nigiri and rolls. Next time I want to come back to check out their sake menu! Ashely was our waitress and she was super welcoming and had a warm personality.

Came here on a Sunday morning and it was empty. Which is nice but a bit concerning as a first-time guest. Parking is decently okay, my only complaint is the spaces are small and I don't have a big car, just a 4-door sedan and it barely fit in the spot. So if you have a big car or a nice one, I would recommend parking a bit further away and just walking to the restaurant. I am going to focus more on the cooked items as most people here already gave their review on the sushi. Hangover ramen, not too bad. It is like Shin Ramen Instant Noodles with a lighter flavor, nice touch with the bean sprout as it is a needed texture element. Add the gyoza into it and it makes it even better. Cucumber salad, not bad at all. It is missing a bit of spice to it. A touch of chili oil on it would kick this dish up a bit. It is refreshing and a must at the table. Truffle fries, please skip this. No salt on the fries if you are okay with it. It is just a bit of truffle oil and Parmesan cheese sprinkled on top. It is lacking in flavor. Yaki Udon, skip this as well. Not sure if it was just the day I went but the sauce was not so great. It was this sweet and sour taste but it was swimming on the bottom of the bowl like the sauce was poured on top of it at the end instead of being stir-fried into it in a wok or a pan. The first few bites are okay but the bottom half is just swimming in that sauce. Spicy Pork Bulgogi, decent size overall, not too bad. I would order like kimchi rice to eat with it next time if I come back. I do wish it was a bit more charred just to give it a bit of a textual element to it. also another thing to note, the bathroom is shared with the restaurant next door to it.

Came here for a Sunday lunch and it wasn't crowded. We were a bit confused at first since it is merged with the Korean all you can eat restaurant. Kan sushi also offer an all you can eat option for $40 but we chose the à la carte option. The ambiance and decors are great but the AC isn't working too well, we were sweating a bit. The food was pretty good, the butter shrimp and truffle salmon were my favourite, very buttery and smoky! We initially ordered the Cajun udon but they ended up making it with ramen since they ran out and didn't inform us until it's done lol. It's odd to me since we were the first customer in but they ran out of udon...? The ramen tasted alright and I definitely think that it would be a lot better if it's made with udon. Luckily we didn't get charged at the end. The tiger roll was decent as well and I did enjoy the yam bam roll - very crunchy. Overall, it was a decent experience. Service was a bit slow since there were only one server.

I opt-ed for the premium option during lunch and I was happy with the options. My only two complaints were the wagyu and the kan salmon. The wagyu looks nothing like the photo and the kan salmon wasn't yummy. Everything else was amazing!! I loved the scallop and the dressing. The salmon to the moon and back I ordered twice. The portion sizes are good, not too small or big. I think this is one of the better AYCE spots in Austin.

I've been in twice now, and while I can see the potential -- both of my visits had clear issues, and it's hard to justify trying it further given the higher price point. They aren't very knowledgeable or trained with handling allergens, even though they say they accommodate them. I then had pacing issues, where it took a very long time for any sashimi to come out, but then almost too many orders showing up. It made it difficult to order the right amount, with how out of order and inconsistently paced the orders were. I also had a couple other issues like salmon coming out ice cold, and then the correction being dry and overdone. Many of the items I got were actually very good quality and beautiful, though. I still see the potential, if they could get their consistency down and their allergen knowledge up to speed.

This place is a cute all you eat sushi! It's order by the menu and the menu is truly extensive! I enjoyed their salmon Nigiri and galbi ribs! Please load up on that. The rest were good but depending on the rolls it was a hit or a miss for me. I didn't really enjoy the udon but I don't like sweet sauces. The service was prompt and the atmosphere is good. I would say this is good for big groups and chill dates, this isn't a fancy date place in my opinion. If I wanted unlimited nigiri I'll definitely be back!

Meh. I'll start by saying the rolly polly roll was delicious. We ordered like 8 of them. Except when one came out with cream cheese instead of crab on accident, I almost vomited. I hate cream cheese. The rest of the fish was just not good. It was nice the rice to fish ratio much more fish but it would have been nice if the fish tasted better. The portions were also very small. Dessert and drinks are not included in AYCE, drinks were expensive $15+. Maybe I'll try this place again the longer it's around. Probably not!

Kan Sushi is an AYCE sushi and KBBQ. You don't cook the meat at your table instead you fill out a menu with the items you are wanting. They will bring everything out to you. Our favorites were the nigiri's and sushi rolls. The appetizers were delicious and unique as well. The noodle dishes were good but not as good as the sushi. We didn't get much of the KBBQ meat but what we did order was delicious! The service was great, very attentive and friendly. Would definitely go back!

The food was amazing quality, every dish was so flavorful and unique. My friends and I had the best time while there was awesome music to curate the ambiance. Our server Alejandra was the best and sweetest ever, so patient with us as first time diners!! BTW: PROPS to the lychee martini we loved all the drinks we got!!

Kan Sushi has become my favorite AYCE (All-You-Can-Eat) sushi place in town! I used to go to Machi Sushi (located in southern Austin), but after this place opened and trying it a couple of times now, I personally think the seafood is more fresh here! I particularly like the fact that the sashimi slices are surprisingly thick and the rice to seafood ratio on the nigiri items is incredible (i.e. more protein than rice). Although you have to pay an additional $20 for the premium menu (which comes with the carpaccio sushi, sashimi, premium rolls and appetizers, and even Korean BBQ dishes), I think it's definitely worth the extra cost! I understand that there have been mixed reviews about the service and accuracy but thankfully, the waiters have been very attentive both times that I've been there. If you're a bit hesitant because of the mixed reviews, then I recommend coming for lunch (the prices are cheaper) so that you can feel out the place without committing to a higher price tag! Some of my favorite dishes here include: Truffle Salmon (Nigiri), Yellowtail and Tuna Carpaccio, Salmon Sashimi, Hamachi Kama (Appetizer), Salmon Kama (Appetizer), Calamari (Fried Squid), Galbi, and the Beef Bulgogi!

$28 lunch weekday pricing-- their nigiris and rolls are decent for the price; better than junai-- quick and attentive service and large space. The fish isn't the top quality but decent for sushi buffet and the rice to fish ratio is really incredible!

Just don't. This place is overpriced, badly run, and a hygiene risk. I'm warning you: skip Kan Sushi. The service is chaotic, the food handling is questionable, and for what they charge, it's honestly kind of insulting ($38 dinner price +$20 premium price. Otherwise no sashimi). 1. First round took 90 mins -- and felt rigged We ordered a full first round, but only got part of it. After finishing what they brought, our server asked if we "still wanted the rest" (which was part of the original order). Only then did the kitchen start making the rest. Sushi came first, sashimi at the very end -- felt like they were trying to fill us up early. 2. Sashimi requires "manager approval"? Over an hour in, we asked about our sashimi and got told they needed manager approval to serve it. It's all-you-can-eat -- why is that even a thing? 3. They tried to take back food we already touched Dishes kept getting mixed up. At one point, they dropped off sashimi, someone at our table started eating it, then the server came back and tried to take it back to another table. That's just nasty. 4. Found plastic in our sushi -- and they didn't care We literally found a piece of plastic wrap inside a roll. Showed it to the manager -- he brushed it off, then blamed a "trainee." No apology, no ownership, just took one person off the bill like that made it okay. Eating plastic in raw fish is not a small thing. 5. Whole service vibe = chaos Nobody seemed to know what they were doing. Communication was awful. And for the price? Definitely not worth it.

This review I dug up is from a while ago, things may have changed…read more January 2020 was my first time at Loro in South Austin. My companion and I went at 5 PM on a Thursday. There is a parking lot that was pretty full but not completely. Once inside, we took seats at the back bar where a buddy suggested we sit for faster service. We had menus and water within minutes, and our bartender was attentive the whole time. We ordered a mix of dishes that had been recommended and a couple more: Oak grilled Snap peas, Coconut scented Rice, Chicken Karaage, Tomato and Cucumber salad, Smoked Prime Bavette Plate, Smoked Beef brisket plate, and Chocolate mousse. For drinks we got Thai Berry smash and Mandarin Margarita. Overall, there was good flavor in all the dishes, with well-paired flavor combos, which is the standard Hai Hospitality sets. However, some dishes didn't have as bold flavor as I was hoping. The Chicken karaage could have been bolder. Surprisingly, the Tomato and Cucumber salad had more flavor than expected. The Prime Bavette and Smoked Brisket were great, though a bit pricy. Both of the drinks were excellent, but only got one each as we're not big on spending on alcohol with dinner. Normally I'd go to this type of place with high-end satiation expectations, such as at Uchiko, where actually filling up would cost a lot so I don't fill up and plan to eat a couple hours later. However, we were both full after eating the above, and even had a piece of brisket and some rice to take home. For the quality, the value is there. The service was great, the bartender checked on us multiple times, and gave us updates on what dishes were left to come out once we were about two-thirds through our order. Each time a dish came we got a refresher on what it was from the server, which I like. The place was about 1/3 full at 5 PM and 2/3 full when we left at 5:45 PM, with the volume-level rising. The speed and quality of the meal taken together is excellent-- we were in and out quickly and enjoyed our fine dining. The restaurant was a bit dark; I could read the menu fine, but one older gentleman had to use his phone to see the menu text. At the end of the meal, a small gift card helped lower the price so it was under 100 out the door. We ended up being very happy with the food and experience-- it was great, but it wasn't amazing solely because a couple dishes needed their good flavor to be bolder. No single item wasn't good, and a couple were exceptional, so I'd easily recommend this restaurant and would like to go back.

For $150/head you get solid Chinese food, with nice presentation. To me, if I consider the $150 price point for the meal, paying simply for presentation is not enough, especially if you consider other restaurants competing at this price point in the Austin area. Very few of the dishes had any real flavor advancements/innovations past the original Chinese dish it was based on. For example, the salt and pepper lobster comes out in this fancy wide wooden dish, filled with dried peppers, and then is seated on a textured stone bowl with sliced lettuce under the lobster tail. All to get 2 bites of typical tasting lobster. Was the lobster good? yes, but the general feeling is pay more to get better presentation, and less food for the money, not a food taste upgrade. To be fair, that may be what the restaurant is targeting. To contextualize Ling's kitchen, I feel as if you would be able to get a larger version of most if not all dishes, with similar quality in Houston for $20. For $150 you would be able to feed an entire family with drinks and dessert normally so I do not feel as if the money is worth it. Not much innovation on the flavors for the palate, but the food had very cute visuals. Service was nice, and the Chef's energy was infectious.

When you arrive, you are gathered in a side room with the other guests and served prosecco or tea, and a tasty opening bite. Our hosts were Nick and Mateo, and they were solid throughout the meal. If you want any wine/sake, you get that selected at this time (bottles only). We chose a sauv blanc from Round Pond, a CA vineyard where we'd visited with family years ago. Many of the dishes are seafood so this was a nice pairing. Once the group has arrived, you're seated around a giant and well decorated table in the actual kitchen. It's a super cool vibe with nice music and intimate lighting. Each course is announced with a gong, and thoughtfully explained, including the connection to Chef Ling and how to best enjoy. I didn't come across anything I didn't love, but I'll highlight a few of my favorites. The fried taro with spicy crabmeat aioli ate like a delicious crab cake! The dry aged Peking duck was a stunner, coming in a smoke filled wooden box. One piece was meant to be eaten in fluffy bun, the other to be enjoyed more purely. There's also a smoked duck tongue which is tasty, just trust me! There's also filet mignon was rich and tender, laying in a delicious green sauce. Chef's kiss! Midway through the meal you are invited to introduce yourself briefly to the table. You also get to walk around enjoy some extra bites and visit with the chefs. It was a charming and diverse crowd. A real slice of Austin. See my pictures for a good sense of what you're in for. You will definitely not leave hungry or disappointed. Chef Ling is present and makes her way around the table during the meal. She is kind and humble, but clearly knows what she's doing!
