Arguably best AYCE sushi for the price in Austin area. Was very impressed by the space (clean, modern), service (waiter was super attentive + kitchen was fast with our orders) and quality of food (super fresh fish). You just order a la carte and the food comes out as it is ready. We went for Friday lunch, so lunch price is already great, but they have sashimi available! And they are generous, they do not hold back. Every other sushi place I've been to gives you small slices of fish or takes forever whenever people order sashimi at AYCE as cost cutting measures but not at Hanami. They give you some thick slices of super fresh, well aged, fatty, firm fish. My favorites were the yellowtail and salmon, but everything was super good. The nigiri also come with normal size rice portions unlike other AYCEs, and so they compliment the fish very well. Crudo is also a fun take on the raw fish that is excellent as well. Outside of sashimi/sushi, they also got good rolls (Toro is a must get). The hot foods are also very well executed, especially the skewers. Don't sleep on the oyster mushrooms ones especially! Agedashi tofu is well fried and firm but the best appetizer might be the crispy tuna rice - it's heavier due to the oil but the crisp is immaculate. End your time with some mochi ice cream. I was here once before and didn't have any issues. Myself and three friends just went on Sunday August 16th. We got the AYCE sushi. We had assorted rolls and service was fine. The wait staff was good and food came out quickly. Then Tuesday morning it happened. I got violently ill from 4am on Tuesday morning, it was coming out from both ends! Three of the 4 in my party all got sick as well with stomach issues. If it was just me I could say it was something else or maybe I just didn't have something that agreed with me but when 2 other people that ate got sick as well it was something with the food. Everything was buttery and a nice cut. So I would give high reviews for the fish. Hot dish wise, it was okay. The agedashi tofu lacked some sauce and I didn't like the way it was fried. We ordered yellowtail collar but received salmon collar instead. They noted the mistake later but I probably would've saved my stomach for something else if I knew it was gonna be salmon. I am a regular customer of this restaurant for the last 4 months (2-3 times a month). On last Saturday (08/22/26), I had a really disappointing experience with the AYCE service. After my first batch, I put an order of 3 sushi rolls which took a while to get to the table (40 minutes of wait). By the way, only 2 arrived and then I canceled the 3rd one, as I saw customers who made their orders after me of the same thing or even more. We went here for lunch on a weekday. The restaurant has a welcoming ambiance as we entered. To be honest, we had our expectation set low given the recent newly opened AYCE restaurants in the area that were all consistently underwhelming. Hanami, despite the mixed reviews from other foodies in the area, we had one of the best experience at a AYCE sushi restaurant. We tried all of their crudo and they're all very good. The fish were refresh and buttery. Sashimi's are quite fresh too. Bluefin tuna and ama ebi has a limit per person but each piece we had was amazing and the cut was generous as well. Their mini tacos were flavorful, and the taco shells are light and crunchy. Salmon rice cake is surprisingly good. The rice cake is crispy and has a hint from sweetness from coconut. Onion & Pork, king mushroom, and chicken & cheese skewers are delicious and moist We also ordered Tonkatsu Ramen. Decent flavor, their pork and egg was pretty legit in flavor but we would pass given how incredible the other dishes and fresh seafood were. Mochi ice cream is legit. Hanami AYCE Sushi is still in their "soft opening" phase but I'm optimistic that they can rise to the top of AYCE sushi places near Austin with some tweaks and improvements. Overall, the quality matches the price and the menu offerings have a good variety but the service and speed can be hit or miss. However, the servers are super friendly, the interior is stunning, and everything was very clean! FAST FACTS: * Parking - a few spots in front of the building but also garage parking nearby with 2 hours of free parking available * Reservations - available online through OpenTable * Online ordering - available for pickup on their website (a la carte only) SERVICE - We arrived at 7:40 pm for an 8:00 pm reservation and were told our table would be available in about 10-15 minutes. We were seated at 8:20 pm (40 minutes after arriving and 20 minutes after our reservation time). Our server was friendly, took our order quickly, and made sure to refill our waters during the meal. Finished plates were cleared from the table efficiently. Non-sushi items came out quickly (gyoza, takoyaki, mini tacos, noodles, etc. took 5-10 minutes after ordering) while sashimi and rolls took much longer (15-20 minutes after ordering). PRICING - The AYCE dinner is $36.95 for adults and includes all of the items on the menu with the exception of some extra charges for additional pieces wagyu, ama ebi, and bluefin tuna beyond the first order. The pricing is incredibly reasonable for the quality of ingredients... especially if you order lots of sashimi or rolls. ORDERING PROCESS - You can order 4 different items per person at a time (mostly due to table space) but multiple pieces of sashimi or nigiri count as a single item. Items come out as they are prepared and ready so I recommend ordering a mixture of appetizers/robata/mini tacos/soup/salad/noodles and sashimi/nigiri/rolls because the sashimi/nigiri/rolls take longer to prepare. We recently came to try out the newest AYCE sushi spot in town, but overall left desiring more. Our reservation was at 4PM on a Saturday because we didn't want to interfere with the dinner rush hour. The restaurant did not have a ton of customers yet but the overall service was still relatively slow. They might have been understaffed at the time because our waiter was saying how she just started her shift and walked into chaos lol. We ordered a total of 3 different rounds but every time we were finished with one round, we still did not see the waiter and essentially had to flag her down to put in our next order. Again, she was very friendly but I unfortunately expected more from the overall service. As for the food, I think the sashimi and crudo were some of my favorites! The crudo particularly had a tangy and savory sauce that complimented well with the fish. Their version of a taco was also interesting where the taco shell was made from the same ingredient as the crispy wonton strips you put into salads or egg drop soup. That being said, I did not like the batter that they used for the calamari -- it was too thick and didn't feel crispy enough. The beef short ribs (Galbi) had a nice flavor profile but half of the pieces were essentially fatty meat (and this was consistent because we ordered that dish 3 different times). To end on a positive note though, the price point was 5/5! I believe it was about $37/per person for dinner/weekend pricing for AYCE, which wasn't bad at all! I'd also recommend a miso soup and some of the crudo options. Only thing we got that was a 4/5 was the Philly roll due to it having a bit too much cream cheese but aside from that everything was close to perfect! Seating and lighting were nice as you can see in my video. Very clean restaurant as well and the parking situation isn't terrible since there's a garage nearby. We got sushi in addition to some other things. Galbi was very well flavored and the tonkatsu was good. Our 4 piece unagi took over 25 minutes and we had our server put it in again. To which it finally came out. When it did, it was fabulous and we ordered 8 more. The other items we ordered all came out in a timely manner. The only weird thing is they have a 4 piece limit (e.g. 1 nigiri counts as 1 piece, so 4 nigiri's at a time, finish that. THEN you can order again. I love the decor in this place! Our party of 5 was seated earlier than our reservation time which was nice because we were already starving upon already after a long drive. The service was shockingly fast! We were amazed at how quickly our dishes came from ordering to the table. The fish was fresh, flavorful and came out with awesome presentation. However, I do have to shave a star for them being out of several items on the menu especially since we came within the hour that they first opened, on a weekend, and on a holiday that we expected they would have everything available in preparation for the business on this day. I rarely give out 5-star ratings, especially for All-You-Can-Eat (AYCE) restaurants which almost always sacrifice food quality for volume. Hanami is the exception to the rule. After visiting during their soft opening, I knew the potential was there, and coming back now, they have truly dialed it in. The freshness of the fish here is superb. It is truly unheard of to find an AYCE spot that is this generous with sashimi. Most places either serve poor quality fish or force you to order nigiri just to fill you up on rice, but the salmon here is a personal favorite and consistently excellent. There are no heat lamps or buffet lines. Everything is prepared to order, including huge, full-sized rolls and incredible tempura fried veggies. They even offer unique perks like fried ice cream and unlimited mochi, while my kids specifically love the skewers. The lunch service was phenomenal, efficient, friendly, and observant. The owners are clearly attentive to the dining room, and the beautifully decorated space makes the experience feel high end rather than a typical high volume joint. My favorite sashimi was the blue fin tuna, yellowtail and tuna. My favorite roll was the monster roll. I only ordered two rolls cause I wanted to have more room to try everything. Their salmon sashimi is sliced thick and fresh, and other sashimi to recommend is probably the escolar and the tamago. Of the two rolls we ordered (crazy roll + hanami roll), the hanami was definitely the winner. We also enjoyed their green bean and king oyster robata skewers although the green bean could absolutely use less sauce, and the agedashi tofu appetizer was decent. I arrived around 5:15 with a friend who pre ordered some items. Food that I ordered didn't come out until 6/6:30. Close to 7:15, we were still waiting on some rolls and I had to leave. What I did try was very good. Crudo and sashimi comes out fast and is SUPER FRESH. The Yellow Tail Collarbone is delish. I was able to try a few rolls that were also good. When it comes to the specialty rolls and the Crudo we chose, I'm not too fond of the Sriracha drops on some of the items we chose. It really takes away from the real flavors I'm seeking. Then again I avoid any roll that has cream cheese simply because I enjoy the actual flavor of the fish and it becomes way over powering. I'm shocked it took coming to an AYCE sushi place to finally find good sushi in Austin. Sushi is one of my favorite foods so I have been up and down Austin trying all of the raved about sushi restaurants and they have ALL been mid at most. Not here! The fish at Hanami was fresh and flavorful, the sake was perfect, and the service was great, too. So happy we found this place. read more
