After noting my favorite dishes (Shaftallou Challow and Kabuli Pallow, and several side dishes) they walked me through their recommendations on what to order two days in advance. I showed up and the food was ready and still hot and fresh too! Their team helped load this steamy aromatic food into my car and the rest is history. They provided ample food that my family and friends raved about, and the process was seamless. Kabuli Pallow - aromatic rice mixed with sweet surprises from raisins, topped off with tender chunks of delicious well seasoned lamb. Fantastic for large parties, easy to serve. Shaftallou Challow - chicken slow cooked with honey and peaches. Sweet and savory perfectly married to melt in your mouth. Served with a pan of rice to balance the flavor. I placed an order thru Grub Hub.. The food arrived piping hot ( only a 5 min drive from me). I got a cubed lamb dish in a velvety pumpkin puree of some kind with perfect Afghani spices! Just tried Kandahar for the first time on a Thursday night, and I'm so glad I did! The food is incredible, magnificent, an absolute treasure. I'm vegetarian, and there were lots of great looking options for me. We had the kadoo appetizer, the vegetarian dolma, the vegetarian platter, and a small order of bread. Everything was fantastic. Really nothing that was "just okay." There were five other parties dining or ordering take-out while we were there, and we literally heard every one of them rave to the staff about how great the food was. Really happy to have them in the neighborhood. Casual, low-key atmosphere. Nothing fancy, but very clean and comfortable. Friendly service. The waiter made sure to ask about any nut allergies before recommending what to put the complimentary walnut sauce on (turns out its amazing on everything, though) and was attentive about refilling waters. It's kind of unclear when you walk in if you should take a seat or order at the front. We asked and we're told either is fine. The staff are friendly and helpful. They're a small spot just starting out with a small front-of-house staff, at least when we were there, but they'll definitely take care of you. I'll be back often! read more

We're so excited to have Kandahar open as a local option! We've tried a handful of menu items and really enjoyed all of them so far - especially the lamb dishes. The appetizers are fun and I'm grateful that we have this broad of a menu among the many places who only serve the entree portions of this format menu. The bolani, mantu, and kadoo have all been excellent as appetizers - and we're looking forward to taking some of our vegetarian friends who appreciate that these dishes are available as non-meat options! Ok my 2nd time here had to make the trip back to Kandahar Afgan Kitchen. The food, the food, the food, it's incredible and consistent, Sunday noon first table in the door, 9 top. Front man makes you feel like you're at his home, and his partner in the kitchen came out to greet us, with smiles and I got some hugs too! This place just opened up but is very popular for good reason. We got two of their bowls, a side salad, and complimentary bread. It is a good amount of food for the price and very flavorful- the lamb and chicken were especially tender and went very well with the rice. The salad was just a regular salad but the ingredients were very fresh which I appreciated! The veggies in the bowl were a bit saltier for my taste, but still delicious and goes well with the rice. It does take a bit for the food to come out, but I would say that it is worth a try. read more

I've been to Kandahar a handful of times and it never ceases to amaze. The Kadoo appetizer (pumpkin in garlic yogurt sauce) is so delectable. My mom and I also enjoyed the Lamb Lawand. Such tender lamb with so many delicious flavors. And the bread is also quite good. The service is great, and the owner/manager is always so nice and pleasant. Can't wait until we return! read more

This place is a hidden jewel. Please do yourself a favor and try it out. The owners are no rookies, they are well seasoned professionals managing, designing menus, and directing professional kitchens since the 80s. I was very impressed by the quality of their food. I can see their establishment definitely staying in Hampden and certainly growing and continuing to evolve the whole ambiance and experience of the restaurant in a positive way. Considering the quality and quantity of the food, the prices are fair. I paid about 40+- for an entre and an appetizer and this was plenty for me to share with my wife and have a nice dinner. And you can also enjoy your meal with wine in their casual environment if you choose to sit down at their establishment. Go try it out. read more

Opening to a great start! The food was great and service was quick. They just recently opened so the kinks aren't 100% worked out yet, but it's on the right path. Reservations aren't accepted and it's byob. The restaurant provided glasses free of charge. Go early if you can because it started getting busy at 7. But it's definitely worth a try!! read more

Amazing food and great portions for the price. It was 4 of us and we all were too full to finish our entrees. This place is spectacular!!! My first time eating Afghan food and let me tell ya it won't be the last. Really good!! Stopped in for dinner with friends and this place is going to be a new go-to for me. We tried several appetizers and each got a different main. My dwopiaza was really flavorful with tender lamb. I also loved the Banjan Laghatak appetizer which is one of the best bites of eggplant I've had in a long time. The owner and staff are incredibly friendly. The walls have some beautiful artwork. And, on top of everything else the prices are really affordable. The decor is special with custom murals and a colorful costume on the walls. The menu is comprehensive with all your favorites. Yogurt and cilantro sauce are house made and delicious.
