This is as Afghan food should be. As close to home as you'll get. I spent 3 years in Afghanistan and this really took me back. It was busy. Parking can be an issue, but the food is fast and really tasty. Get the mantu it's great. And you're doing yourself a disservice if you don't try the lamb. It was so busy intact that we had to get it to go, there was no where to sit and I couldn't even take pictures.. so it's popular at lunch! It's a deli style place, and a bit crowded so come between lunch and dinner or get there early if you want to really enjoy it. I am staying in the area for business and found this restaurant close to my hotel. I was excited to have an opportunity to eat some Afghan food... having lived near Kandahar some 20 years ago, i was interested in reconnecting with the cuisine. I ordered the chicken kabob plate which came with flat bread, salad, and rice. All of it was delicious. While it was a new experience using hot sauce with the meal, i found everything to be delicious and plentiful... for under $20, i had a very filling meal that could have been shared by another person if I was not such a glutton. From the location to the interior this unassuming establishment makes some delicious food. I only sampled one dish. The Mantu was exceptional. The subtlety of flavors was divine. A surprisingly delightful combination of mid and far east flavors. The dumplings were fresh and soft. The sauce was rich and creamy with perfect hints of middle eastern and Asian flavors. I found this place randomly online and decided to swing by and give it a try. I ordered the chicken kebab, served over a bed of rice with vegetables and naan bread. Everything is made to order, so the wait was a bit longer than I expected but it was worth it. The portion size is a seriously awesome bang for your buck, and the food was great. First up, more than half of the tables here were Afghan so that says something about the food right off the bat. The interior is somewhat cafeteria-esque, with long communal tables. It's a good setting for kids. My all time favorite dish is mantu, so I can't resist getting that at every opportunity. These come with four small dumplings to an order, with a generous portion of delicious sauce on top. The chicken kofta platter was also very good. The chicken is well seasoned and tender and the ground meat had a very good balance of spices. Both were complemented with a mild spiced rice. The appetizer with the platter was a very filling portion, and the bread was toasty but still fluffy and soft. Appetizer and platter together were $31 including tip, which isn't crazy but not really a bargain. Quite nice if you enjoy Afghan food! read more

Dreaming of these curry chickpeas. So tender and flavorful! The tikka chicken platter was very good with a generous portion. The rice with it was perfectly cooked and aromatic. Ate here a few times on a work trip. Food is very solid and I'll for sure be back if I'm in the area. My only gripe is that I asked the woman over the phone if I could add extra meat to my entree and she said yes, however when I went to pick it up she had just added a whole extra entree to my order for another $14. Lesson learned, but PSA you can't just get extra meat for 4-5 bucks. The rice was weirdly kind of sweet so I'll avoid that in the future as well since that's not really my thing. The employees were very friendly. They took our order and payment at the front counter, then had us take a seat and delivered the meal to us at the table. My boyfriend loves this place and highly recommended the chicken skewers, which my friend and I both decided to try. I thought the chicken was very juicy and delicious, but there wasn't that much meat overall in the dish. The skewer came with basmati white rice, a salad, and tandoori bread (naan). These sides suited the dish well, but I felt like I had a disproportionately large amount of sides with a very small amount of chicken skewer. Overall, the food was yummy enough that I would return. In the future, I would like to try their "double chicken skewer", which is the same dish but with two chicken skewers instead of just one. read more

I was staying in a nearby hotel and saw that this business had great reviews so I decided to take a short walk and try this place out. It was near other hotels and was small but easy to find right near the main road. Once I walked inside you can smell the aroma of amazing food and see the food on others tables that looked delicious. And not only that, for desert I ordered some Baklava! I know! I was a fat boy this day! The food was fast, fresh, and amazing!!! I ate everything, and not even sad that I ruined my diet. The samosas were stuffed with ingredients, not overly greasy, with a crisp flaky outer crust- The gyro salad was loaded with gyro meat- not too overly smothered in sauce, but packed with fresh vegetable ingredients- I ended up splitting it into two lunches (saving half for the next day) Service was super friendly, I could tell the staff enjoys being a top spot for lunch read more

Recently came in for a lunch date with my wife and it was fantastic. Maiwand Kabob was packed; clearly folks know this is a good place to get a solid meal. We got the vegetarian platter and the falafel platter, both of which were delicious in their own right (they have lots of meat options including lamb, beef, and chicken; we just weren't feeling it that day). The veggie platter had mixed lentils, potatoes, chickpeas, eggplant, and roasted pumpkin. Every bit was good on their own, mixed together or with rice. The falafel was fantastic - nice and crispy outside with a fluffy fava interior. It came with a nice sauce and a lot of hummus. Both platters came with a freshly baked flatbread. Food is cooked fresh to order, so be ready to wait 10-15 minutes after placing your order; don't be deceived by the few sides staying warm behind the glass. The man in front of us didn't get it and was a bit of a tool about it when the lone woman behind the counter started to take other orders.
