I never write reviews as I really would like to understand people's perspective before writing reviews but me and my ohana are sadly disappointed with our recent services here in Kaneohe Auto Care. We have gotten our cars changed here back then and they used to be good. But now they're rude and have no aloha, only looking for profit and overpricing things. I am not sure if they all just had a bad day, but I tried my best to be really understanding at first. Our earlier experiences over the years were good and we decided that we will stick with Kaneohe Auto Care as they seemed like good ohana and we would like to support them. But our recent 2 experiences changed our view of them. Our recent first experience here was good besides overpriced tires, they promised to give us Falken tires but after the tires and repairs have been done, they told us they weren't able to and changed our tires to MIDAX instead, lying that they were a far more superior brand instead while overcharging us on the tires by $200. After a week, the car had problems again and Kaneohe Auto Care failed to identify an oil leak and oil filter problem which we had gotten checked at another place. When I told them the girl in the front said, "Well what do you want us to do about it?" in a rude tone. On our recent second experience to get our car diagnosed they gave us a set price of $1600 for some car repairs. I also noticed when I first came in, when one of the mechanic was on the phone he was pretty rude to the person in the phone. After confirming again, they were very rude on the phone complaining about the repairs on the car, telling us that we're asking for a lot of repairs after we had already discussed what the diagnostics and the repairs of the car would be, giving us a set price of $1600. After a couple of hours, I decided to call them again thinking maybe they just had a bad day which is why they were rude on the phone and in person, not even making eye contact and ignoring questions I asked multiple times. After thinking about trying to understand them, I called them again to confirm the services and the price -- but to my surprise the person I was talking to wasn't the same girl I talked to in the first place -- it was a man with the same voice that was rude earlier to another customer on the phone. Right from the start of the call, I said Aloha, confirming the repairs and costs, but he was rude right off the bat. He increased the price, overpricing it $1000+ higher than even the Honda dealership here in Windward, and it did not even cover all the car's problems. After discussing with ohana and experiencing that, we decided not to go and just decided on the safety check and oil change after KAC switched our price from $1600 (we had discussed all repairs already and which repairs would be done) but then they changed their mind, doubling the price to over $3000 after giving us a set price of $1600 while Honda ngave us a price of $1900. I tried to be very understanding and polite but the man I talked to was very rude as I kept thinking to myself to try and understand he may have had a bad day and that we're all ohana on the island. We decided not to get the car fixed by them. I came in and while talking and they did not even look at me in the eyes while talking and were ignoring my questions, telling me to sign on the paper instead for the oil change and safety check which costed $140 ($70 was labor). We were looking to have a great service, especially after our cars broke down and the hurricanes on the island have led to many problems only to be met with this kind of service. Where is the aloha? Now they're only looking for profit even higher than the honda dealerships which we originally switched from as honda has usually high prices. I always support local businesses here in Hawaii as I grew up here. But after the service here in KAC me and my ohana will sadly never be going here again. They will find different ways to overcharge you in other ways to make a profit and my first experiences from back then may have been good but multiple recent experiences proved they changed. read more

I used to love going here whenever me and my ohana had car problems. However they have changed their ways now. The woman in the register is now always rude along with the mechanic in charge. They have overpriced us 2-3x the prices compared to dealerships now. We've had problems with our cars, one car had a simple tire problem which was flat. They changed their price in person and said they'll charge $550 for a single tire. A single tire! There have been other occurrences as we wanted to give them a chance but no. Another time we needed new tires. Guess what? They went and agreed on a price for all tires and a good brand and when we went there they went and go give us two used tires and lower quality brands saying they suddenly ran out of the other tires and went lie straight in our face lying saying the brand is a higher end when it was not and the brand's value was $200 less than the agreed upon brand and overcharged the prices. No aloha anymore. They like scam your ohana and give you used parts probably from other cars. Disappointing. Another time we got another car fixed here. Next month? Car was smoking. Took it back and they kept complaining and complaining to overcharge it more. We finally got it checked at windward and they charged less than half what Kaneohe auto care was charging and it was all good in 3 days. I say this with a heavy heart as my ohana have been using Kaneohe care for YEARS but we gave them so many chances past years they just keep getting worse and worse. read more

Only thing is there's two different signs and I wasted two lift rides because I put "auto care kaneohe" instead of "kaneohe auto care" and there signs are inconsistent. Charged me 2x what O'Reilly's quoted for the part. Broke off my hood hinge and the rusted bolt was left behind; Ricky promised to pull it but when I returned FOR that he said, quote, "No, I can't do that." They WERE really EXCELLENT but last timing belt work I took to the dealer as they gave a better deal with all genuine Honda parts and replacing ALL belts removed during the job. Ricky's was 80.00 less with no belts replaced and not genuine Honda parts. NO. Let me save you the time and the mostly money, find a different auto repair shop. Very very overpriced and how can you be an auto repair shop and not actually repair anything?? If you aren't super knowledgeable about cars/ what needs to be fixed, DO NOT take your car here. They WILL take advantage of your money, and the kicker, they won't even have fixed the actual problem. I've had to take and get my car towed here 4 times in the last 3 months. Not only were the problema only temporarily fixed but within days of getting it back, there would be yet another bigger issue. They are dishonest. I don't mind being charged for extra services as long as they fix the issue. I brought my van in because the A/C stopped blowing cold air. Was told by the mechanic there was a leak and they were going to replace the compressor as well as deal with the leak. (I know they were upcharging me for unnecessary work but I just wanted it taken care of). Fast forward one month later and the A/C doesn't work again. I take it back to Kaneohe Auto Care to give them the chance to make it right and they say there's a leak and they are going to charge me because it's not covered under warranty. I guess their warranty doesn't cover doing shoddy work (or not doing the work in the first place). Look at the other review of this place by Daniel P. They're scamming their customers by doing unnecessary work and have the audacity to ask for more money if you want them to fix their mistake. Take your business elsewhere! read more

Here me out here: I know what you're thinking, "This place has great reviews. What could possibly be the problem? Probably just a disgruntled/unlucky customer. Maybe. But no. Shops like this operate off how easy it is to fool people and make them think they've gotten good work and a good deal. For context, I'm an ASE master technician. My sister needed work on her car but I was off island so she took it to this shop. When I got home and saw her bills I almost exploded with anger. I'll walk you through them so you know what to watch out for from automotive shops. The #1 reason people get ripped of is because they don't know the right questions to ask. First a note about parts: The standard mark-up on parts from an auto shop is anywhere from 25%-200%. In my sisters case she paid $1600 in parts that could have been purchased directly from part stores for about $600. That's no joke. $1000 just in parts mark up. If you're at a shop and you ask them why the part they're charging you for is so much more expensive than the same part from an auto store or Amazon they'll say something like, "We use only original parts from the manufacturer." This may or may not be true (frequently it's not true). But if you say, "well can I buy a part offline and have you put it in?" They'll say no. They'll say they only use more expensive parts because of the warranty. The problem is that most aftermarket parts you get from Oreilleys or Autozone have the same or similar warranty to the ones they're installing. What else is true? The parts from the "Original manufacturer" are typically from the exact same Chinese/Mexican factory from where the aftermarket parts are from. Mark up on parts is part of the auto shop business model like it or not. A good idea when looking for a shop to do a repair is call around to smaller shops first and find one that is willing to put in an aftermarket part. Labor: The interesting thing when you look at my sisters receipt is that the labor charges aren't unreasonable. Of all the things they did only one labor charge looks absurd. They charged her $130 labor to replace a resistor. (a $15 part from Autozone they charged her $150 for) This resistor is a little plug with two screws that takes less than 15min to replace. That charge was outrageous but nothing else looks too high. So what's the problem? She went in with the complaint that her AC wasn't getting cold enough, their solution? Replace almost every component of the AC system. You don't have to be a seasoned mechanic to wonder "what's the likelihood that every part of the ac system failed all at once?" So this is the "con" that shops run, they tell you that you need a laundry list of work done, they make a lot of money on those extra parts they're selling you and then they charge you what looks like fair labor rates on work that didn't need to be done and at the end of the day who knows if it was really done at all? Who's looking under the dash to check that the resistor really is new? The real kicker is that all that work didn't even fix her AC. She had a small leak from the back of the car which could have been the problem from the very beginning. So when you go to a shop here's the question to ask: "How did you determine that ____ was the problem?" Follow up with, "Can you show me?" Then when they're showing you take a video and send it to some people who you know who know even a remote thing or two about mechanics and ask for their advice. read more

I get a coupon everytime I get service done at windward Honda and get a coupon for a car wash here. They are always efficient, polite and the price is right if you pay or not. I like that, as a customer they don't make you feel bad if you aren't spending the money. I also like that they offer packages like a menu, wash, vacuum, tire treatment, etc or multi package for 10 washes etc. It gets 4 stars because during Covd, there is no place to sit or stand while they work on your car so I'll do a review next year and update if things change. read more

I took to Kaneohe Autocrat as recommended by my husband, they reset the light right there for me without charging anything. I don't like to do reviews but there are times I do when I receive quality work done and great customer service from businesses. So here we go... Our good friend recommended Kaneohe AutoCare so I decided to try them. As a first time customer I was pleased with their friendliness and customer service. I arrived there a little early so while I was waiting I noticed how clean the shop was and that each employee was on time and went straight to work...like a fine tuned engine, no pun intended . I believe the estimate that I received was fair and the final cost was less after getting the first time customer/repair discount (Yelp Check-In offer). And, I liked that I didn't have to drive over the mountain to fix my car which saved me time and gas . Of course having a 12 month/12,000 mile warranty is also great. Mahalo Kaneohe AutoCare for fixing my AC at a reasonable cost because I know it would've cost more at the dealership. Excellent auto repair experience in all regards. Customer service during intake was very friendly and supportive. Vehicle drop off and communications of required repairs went smoothly and professionally. The work was completed in a timely manner and pricing was fair. Ricky and his team did an outstanding job and I could feel the team support in all aspects of the auto repair service on my truck. This is in stark contract to how many of the corporate repair companies treat their customers.
