Had to have my car towed due to the check engine and other lights coming on and the engine running rough, and RNS Automotive was able to squeeze me in even though they were incredibly busy. Despite the tow truck taking longer than expected RNS still accommodated me when my car finally got there around 1 PM. They were able to diagnose and fix the problem by the next morning. I am sorry I didn't get a chance to speak with any of the mechanics, but Glory and Lee in the office were absolutely fantastic! Their courteousness and professionalism were outstanding. These guys are not cheap (hourly rate close to $200) but they know their stuff and are very efficient. Brought in my 2015 Nissan Frontier for three pieces of work that would allow me to keep it running safely. Called with their estimate a couple hours after bringing it in, and once I gave the OK, it was done within another couple of hours. My middle son, Ryan, recommended this place. We had been going to Servco in Waikiki since we purchased our used Toyota Camry Hybrid. We have a condo in Hawaii Kai but live in Central California. Our brakes felt different this visit and I needed an oil change. Plus last visit I tried to get our car inspected and it failed for the tires. I was so confused over the fact that I'd bought tires from the 76 station in Aina Haina but he didn't give me a new updated sticker. Anyway, RNS took very good care of me. They said my brakes were good, oil change done and they actually did a courtesy inspection for me so I could go straight to the DMV and register my car for '25. I really felt good about these folks. They felt like honest business owners. I drove quite a distance to see them but it was worth it. They are my "go to" mechanics now. Also, there is an adorable coffee shop around the building from RNS. I had coffee and bought some local coffee to take home for gifts. UPDATE: Ron fixed my vehicle, it appeared to be a faulty new part. I appreciate them fix the issue, it took me calling them several times. The biggest issue was the communication. No one told me the hours they put into working on my vehicle to get it working until I talked to Ron himself. Very disappointed. I have been a loyal customer of there's for about 5 years, letting all my friends and family know this is the place to go. I have always brought them all my cars even brought them my 56 Chevy to be worked on. I was hooked the first time I ever went there they cleared my codes on my car for free. Fast forward to now the last two experiences let a sour taste in my mouth. I have a code reader and I already knew what the issue was a misfire in cylinder 2. So I let them know this is the issue the vehicle is jerking. RNS let's me know yes so we have to change spark plugs and coil packs for atleast 3 cylinders and I order to do that they have to take manifold off and change that gasket. They told me it would cost about $730 to do all the work. I was like ok I get it is a big job. So RNS does the job they call and say that will be $890.00, I was like wait what how did it go up in price. RNS says oh tax's and gave me a list of about four different shop fees after doing math it still never made sense. After priying they said oh and we notice air filter was dirty so we changed it with out asking and decided to charge you for it without letting you know. RNS said to me we also notice your bumper was loose so they related they secured it for me (I am thinking yay that is the RNS I know) fast forward to pick up they drilled two wood screws in to my body that will rust. I never gave them permission to damage the outside of my body with woods screws that is not how to properly secure a bumper. On top of seeing other scratch marks on the bumper. They also told me that my battery needs to be changed and they could do it for 160$ because it is the wrong battery. Negative I bought that battery at oreillys and verified it is the right battery. (Shady) What ever at this point I just decide to pay and take my car. Half way home the check engine light goes on and it starts shaking again (Problem not fixed). I take it back to RNS they clear the code and tell me they don't notice the issue, I come back after they are closed and start my car it is still shaking and before I make it to Kaapa quarry the check engine light is on again. Same issue they supposedly fixed. I am so disappointed I don't know what happened to this once great shop that has now went down hill I do not have time to run my car back in fourth to them any more I have a 2 jobs and 2 kids and they never answer the phone. I guess it goes to say if you want something done right do it your self I am no longer sending anyone I know back here. Ron what is going on with your shop. read more

Hands down five stars! My AC went down and the dealership wanted an arm and leg to fix it. I shopped around and located the top AC repair shops on this island. Ron was more than reasonable and was very quick to answer my inquiries via Yelp. My car was worked on from Monday to mid Wednesday. AC is blowing well and I even got my safety check sorted out. What really makes this place stand out is being able to drop your car off anytime. Again anytime! They have a drop off service where you leave and park your car by the shop and drop your car keys in a secured area. Not to worry they have cameras there too! Top notch service! This last week, I brought my '08 Accord with its 200k miles to Ron and his team...my a/c had died and needed to be replaced. The team found that my compressor was dead, replaced it the next day, paid the bill and left. Unfortunately, a/c still wasn't producing cold air. Brought the car back the next day and the following day....Ron's team stayed with it until the problem was fixed, even paying for another compressor to replace the first one. In the end, when Ron handed me the keys, he gave me an ice-cold AC, on a 15 yo car, and didn't charge me anything more for the 2 extra days. They clearly lost money on my old Accord--between the time and parts--but he made it right to his customer. An honest mechanic? Worth their weight in gold. RNS has won my repeated business.
