I had a problem with my Mazda 5's starter (worked intermittently) and took it to Tony's Autowerks. Tony analyzed the problem and replaced the starter that day and I was right back on the road. Six weeks later, the car wouldn't start. AAA towed the car up to Tony's. Tony was there to assure me he would diagnose and fix the problem. Sure enough, a wire had somehow come loose and Tony had the car ready in a few hours. The real test of a business is how it stands behind its work when something goes wrong. Tony didn't hesitate to repair the problem and I am back on the road. There was no hesitation in correcting the problem. Unsafe and mechanically not competent. I try to never give a bad review. They performed work on my 2000 Toyota RAV4, straightforward maintenance, timing belt, valve cover gasket and engine mounts. Car drove fine when I brought it in and now vibrates like crazy, misfires and they broke parts of the engine that were fine beforehand. They left MAJOR suspension bolts hanging loose, engine mount nut missing, intake hoses disconnected and not secured properly, throttle cable bolts were finger tight, wires misrouted, oil leaking from a $4 gasket that should have been changed while replacing the timing belt, broke both upper and lower timing cover mounting points, reinstalled the alternator incorrectly, failed to tell me there was oil in the spark plug cylinder (in order to save me money!) now I have to remove the valve cover again that they just replaced so I can reseal the valve tubes and it even appeared like they tried to cover up the alternator wires with plastic conduit to hide the alternator mounting issue when they had installed it incorrectly. I gave them a second chance to "make it right" after the oil leak showed up right after changing the timing belt but that led to them breaking the timing covers and not installing the bolt there, cus it's fine, as well as reinstalling the alternator wrong. My bad for expecting the mechanic to look at a Toyota manual, read the instructions and torque specs for bolts and mounting hardware and to make it right. $1700 later I need to replace the cheap motor mounts they installed so that the car will not vibrate like crazy, I reinstalled the alternator tension mount properly, secured the loose bolts, hoses and suspension components, will have to remove the valve cover myself or pay someone else to reseal the leaky spark plug tubes and replace the timing cover which is basically almost the same as changing the timing belt in hours. Tony bought me the replacement timing covers but couldn't spring for the cost of a valve cover gasket because he's "tapped out on the job". I liked Tony and wanted to give him the benefit of the doubt as a small local business owner but his priority of making money seemed to overshadow actually fixing the car properly and competently the first (and second) time so he wouldn't be tapped out during a job. I am afraid that only time will tell how the timing belt will hold up and I'm sure that I will find a few more surprises when I get in there to repair the repairs. This RAV is new to me but had a very extensive single owner maintenance history except for the timing belt and now I feel as if it has been molested by a mechanic that really didn't care about my car. The first time my daughter drove the car after the repairs she called me after starting it and asked, "Dad what's wrong with the car? It's making all kinds of noises." So unfortunate. I sincerely hope that Tony is able to rectify his employee problems for his sake and reputation. He has a nice shop and all the tools anyone could ask for but the lack of execution and attention to detail was disturbing and unsafe. Please use your own judgement if considering this "mechanic" shop for your maintenance or repairs. Mahalo for your time in reading this. read more

I asked some friends for recommendations to get my truck repaired. Out of all the recommendations I got, only Tony's Autowerks and one other company replied to my phone calls or emails requesting a quote. The other guys said "they didn't do that kind of repair". Wow Tony is so lucky to have Kaleo a wonderful helpful girl taking calls... And in my case getting back to me just to find out how me and my SUV were doing!! I took my 2003 4Runner to get a new tail light cover. Tony (and his wife) really care about giving your car what it needs and you feel at ease in his presence. He did some extra little things for my car while it was being serviced by his technician at no cost to me. I left knowing that this is my new mechanic. I had finally found the spot. I called Tony and got a speedy reply and he came and picked my car up for me from work. WhichI had a broken tub on my antifreeze reservoir. He came back with the quote to replace the reservoir and I was please. Unfortunately he sent me another message with another quote saying the engine cooling fan in the front of the car was broken and probably cause the antifreeze tube to overheat and snap. I thought this was odd considering my car was not/nor had it ever overheated. I told him to just fix the reservoir and I'd take a look at the fan. I drove my car home and took a look under the hood and sure enough the fan kicked right on. I would like to thank Tony and his crew at Tony's Autowerks. On May 4th, after 6 weeks off island, I returned to a 2008 Prius that would not run. Tony had replaced the hybrid motor in January so I called him. I had it towed to his shop so he could check it out. When the car got to him it started right up (magic??). He immediately informed me that the car was working fine. Since my husband and I were both under the mandatory 14 day self-quarantine and he quickly offered to keep the car at his shop until we could pick it up. He ended up keeping the car for over a week during which he continued to check it to make sure it was ok.
