Lower control arm mounting bolt. Major fail.
    Patrick H.

Unsafe and mechanically not competent. I try to never give a bad review. They performed work on my 2000 Toyota RAV4, straightforward maintenance, timing belt, valve cover gasket and engine mounts. Car drove fine when I brought it in and now vibrates like crazy, misfires and they broke parts of the engine that were fine beforehand. They left MAJOR suspension bolts hanging loose, engine mount nut missing, intake hoses disconnected and not secured properly, throttle cable bolts were finger tight, wires misrouted, oil leaking from a $4 gasket that should have been changed while replacing the timing belt, broke both upper and lower timing cover mounting points, reinstalled the alternator incorrectly, failed to tell me there was oil in the spark plug cylinder (in order to save me money!) now I have to remove the valve cover again that they just replaced so I can reseal the valve tubes and it even appeared like they tried to cover up the alternator wires with plastic conduit to hide the alternator mounting issue when they had installed it incorrectly. I gave them a second chance to "make it right" after the oil leak showed up right after changing the timing belt but that led to them breaking the timing covers and not installing the bolt there, cus it's fine, as well as reinstalling the alternator wrong. My bad for expecting the mechanic to look at a Toyota manual, read the instructions and torque specs for bolts and mounting hardware and to make it right. $1700 later I need to replace the cheap motor mounts they installed so that the car will not vibrate like crazy, I reinstalled the alternator tension mount properly, secured the loose bolts, hoses and suspension components, will have to remove the valve cover myself or pay someone else to reseal the leaky spark plug tubes and replace the timing cover which is basically almost the same as changing the timing belt in hours. Tony bought me the replacement timing covers but couldn't spring for the cost of a valve cover gasket because he's "tapped out on the job". I liked Tony and wanted to give him the benefit of the doubt as a small local business owner but his priority of making money seemed to overshadow actually fixing the car properly and competently the first (and second) time so he wouldn't be tapped out during a job. I am afraid that only time will tell how the timing belt will hold up and I'm sure that I will find a few more surprises when I get in there to repair the repairs. This RAV is new to me but had a very extensive single owner maintenance history except for the timing belt and now I feel as if it has been molested by a mechanic that really didn't care about my car. The first time my daughter drove the car after the repairs she called me after starting it and asked, "Dad what's wrong with the car? It's making all kinds of noises." So unfortunate. I sincerely hope that Tony is able to rectify his employee problems for his sake and reputation. He has a nice shop and all the tools anyone could ask for but the lack of execution and attention to detail was disturbing and unsafe. Please use your own judgement if considering this "mechanic" shop for your maintenance or repairs. Mahalo for your time in reading this.

They said they would call me after they did some research. Never called. I called them back and was told me they were talking to other shops to determine the problem/repairs. Never called back. I called them a week later and they said they lost the error code/paperwork and to bring the vehicle back in. Well, I told them now the vehicle was running rough and I would have to tow it in. They said they would have to talk to the transmission specialist and would call me back. Well, three weeks later of not being able to use the vehicle, I gave up with the run-a-round and went to another transmission shop. Not the way a reputable shop should be doing business. I hope this helps them to improve.

I called Willy's because my cars transmission was in desperate need of repair since it was slipping. It was failing in 2nd gear when I took my car in. I got it back 9 days later it was not smooth at all!! The cars idle was not smooth and cruising downhill feels like the car is going to slip at any moment. After making an appointment to get the work rechecked the shop called me back after 10 minutes to tell me the car is ready to be picked up and the car is all done. When I asked the gentleman for a printed report of the inspection or what was done in the short period of time he informed me that there was nothing to report back to me. Complete rip off for nearly $5,000 dollars. I will be taking my business elsewhere and most likely have to spend another couple thousand to get my transmission running smooth. The fact that my car was completely dismissed at the inspection indicated to me the quality of service this business does. SAVE YOUR MONEY AND GO SOMEWHERE ELSE!!

We have gotten our cars changed here back then and they used to be good. But now they're rude and have no aloha, only looking for profit and overpricing things. I am not sure if they all just had a bad day, but I tried my best to be really understanding at first. Our earlier experiences over the years were good and we decided that we will stick with Kaneohe Auto Care as they seemed like good ohana and we would like to support them. But our recent 2 experiences changed our view of them. Our recent first experience here was good besides overpriced tires, they promised to give us Falken tires but after the tires and repairs have been done, they told us they weren't able to and changed our tires to MIDAX instead, lying that they were a far more superior brand instead while overcharging us on the tires by $200. After a week, the car had problems again and Kaneohe Auto Care failed to identify an oil leak and oil filter problem which we had gotten checked at another place. When I told them the girl in the front said, "Well what do you want us to do about it?" in a rude tone. On our recent second experience to get our car diagnosed they gave us a set price of $1600 for some car repairs. I also noticed when I first came in, when one of the mechanic was on the phone he was pretty rude to the person in the phone. After confirming again, they were very rude on the phone complaining about the repairs on the car, telling us that we're asking for a lot of repairs after we had already discussed what the diagnostics and the repairs of the car would be, giving us a set price of $1600. After a couple of hours, I decided to call them again thinking maybe they just had a bad day which is why they were rude on the phone and in person, not even making eye contact and ignoring questions I asked multiple times. After thinking about trying to understand them, I called them again to confirm the services and the price -- but to my surprise the person I was talking to wasn't the same girl I talked to in the first place -- it was a man with the same voice that was rude earlier to another customer on the phone. Right from the start of the call, I said Aloha, confirming the repairs and costs, but he was rude right off the bat. He increased the price, overpricing it $1000+ higher than even the Honda dealership here in Windward, and it did not even cover all the car's problems. After discussing with ohana and experiencing that, we decided not to go and just decided on the safety check and oil change after KAC switched our price from $1600 (we had discussed all repairs already and which repairs would be done) but then they changed their mind, doubling the price to over $3000 after giving us a set price of $1600 while Honda ngave us a price of $1900. I tried to be very understanding and polite but the man I talked to was very rude as I kept thinking to myself to try and understand he may have had a bad day and that we're all ohana on the island. We decided not to get the car fixed by them. I came in and while talking and they did not even look at me in the eyes while talking and were ignoring my questions, telling me to sign on the paper instead for the oil change and safety check which costed $140 ($70 was labor). We were looking to have a great service, especially after our cars broke down and the hurricanes on the island have led to many problems only to be met with this kind of service. Where is the aloha? Now they're only looking for profit even higher than the honda dealerships which we originally switched from as honda has usually high prices. I always support local businesses here in Hawaii as I grew up here. But after the service here in KAC me and my ohana will sadly never be going here again. They will find different ways to overcharge you in other ways to make a profit and my first experiences from back then may have been good but multiple recent experiences proved they changed.

Either way, with over 200k miles on it, it was going to be (hopefully) less expensive to swap the engine. I called around and Rockys miraculously said they had a used engine that just came in, and they could work on it later in the week. Unfortunately, if turned out that the engine wasn't exactly compatible. To try to make a very long story short, I ended up leaving my truck there for almost 2 months. I had to order am engine from the mainland that took 1 month to arrive. Once it did, they worked on it right away, and it was done within a week. They did have to change out several items from it, for to is age, but I finally got it back, and it's working great. The overall cost was a bit higher than expected, but it is what it is. The only reason for not giving them 5 stars is for to the fact that they didn't realize that they didn't have a compatible engine in the beginning, so I wasted 3 weeks, and spent over $600 in car rental fees, before finding out they didn't have a compatible one, and I needed to order an engine. My husband and I had been dealing with a persistent noise during deceleration in our 2011 Toyota Camry for over a year. We took it to several shops, spent a few thousand dollars fixing "issues" that turned out to be unrelated, and still had the same problem. We eventually figured out it was coming from the transmission -- yikes! We went to another transmission shop (which I won't name), and after multiple visits and some shady back-and-forth, they quoted us $9,500 for a replacement transmission and wanted $6,000 down just to order it. Weeks later, they claimed the transmission was "lost in shipping" and offered to rebuild it for nearly the same price. Something just didn't sit right with us. That's when I decided to call around, and Certified Transmission Differential was the first shop that actually answered. I spoke directly with the owner, Tracy, and explained everything. Even after hearing what I was quoted elsewhere, he stayed honest -- no upselling, no games. He quoted me $4,500 for the rebuild, less than half of what I was about to pay! From start to finish, Tracy went above and beyond. He opened early so we could drop the car off before work, kept us informed every step of the way, and even showed my husband the damaged parts he replaced. He was incredibly knowledgeable, straightforward, and fair -- even buying another transmission just to get a rare part without charging us extra. In a world where so many businesses overcharge or take advantage of people, Tracy and his team restored our faith in what honest work looks like. Our Camry drives beautifully now, and we finally feel peace of mind knowing the job was done right. If you're looking for a trustworthy, knowledgeable, and fair mechanic, go to Certified Transmission Differential. Tracy has absolutely earned our trust and our future business -- I can't recommend this shop enough!
