Dr. Hayashi is truly the best! I absolutely love him and will continue to see him no matter how far…read morethe drive. I've been his patient for over a decade, making him by far the longest medical relationship I've had. I've always said that if life ever took either of us away from beautiful Hawai'i, he'd be the doctor I'd miss the most. The level of care he provides is extraordinary, and it was evident from my very first visit. His genuine concern and dedication to his patients are truly one-of-a-kind. As someone with a dental phobia and a history of medical trauma, I've always dreaded dental appointments. But Dr. Hayashi has completely changed that for me and each encounter leaves me feeling grateful to have him on my healthcare team. His commitment to patient well-being and his accountability in fostering a better community is exceptional. Over the years, he's been a part of some major changes in my life, and I feel a special kinship with him. We've made incredible progress in my dental journey, and I'm proud of the place we've gotten to together. I'd also like to recognize the amazing front office team--Kerrie, Abi , and the other staff member (whose name I didn't catch). They play such an essential role in keeping everything running smoothly, and I'm always thankful for their friendly and efficient service. Dental assistant Ashlee deserves special mention as well. Her kindness and lively personality make the appointment feel so much more pleasant. Every office needs someone like Ashlee! Although I haven't met the other dentists at the office yet, I'm confident they're excellent. Aloha Family Dentistry is located on the 3rd floor of the American Savings Bank building at the corner of Kahuhipa St. and Kamehameha Hwy in Kāne`ohe. They offer convenient parking entrances on both Kahuhipa St. and Kamehameha Hwy, with wheelchair-accessible parking and building entrances on both levels. Choose Aloha Family Dentistry and you'll be on your way to an even more beautiful smile and healthier you!

Before going here, I highly recommend reading the reviews carefully. If you still decide to move…read moreforward, make sure you fully understand what your dental insurance actually covers. This office has you sign paperwork based on what they think your insurance will cover, proceeds with treatment, and then later sends you a bill for anything your insurance did not pay. You end up being responsible for those unexpected charges. In my experience, the office does not take the time to properly verify coverage--especially for procedures that are already in progress. Communication around costs is unclear and can be misleading. On top of that, the office manager is extremely rude, and the staff is not welcoming or friendly, which makes the overall experience even more frustrating. Save yourself the stress and consider going elsewhere. Also, keep in mind that this company operates multiple locations across the island, so your experience may be similar at their other offices as well.

I would say still Five stars for doctors and hygienists. I have been a patient here since the days of the previous owners, Dr. Keller and Dr. Ichiriu, and always appreciated the wonderful teamwork and harmony in every aspect of the practice. Since their retirement and the change in ownership, I've continued to be impressed with the doctors -- they are highly skilled, professional, and use cutting-edge equipment with confidence. However, the front office looks like it has been a consistent struggle since a transition. There has been high staff turnover, frequent mistakes, and multiple cancellations due to hygienist scheduling issues. I've tried to be patient, understanding that changes take time, and they are all sweet and sincere except my most recent experience was very frustrating. When I arrived for a scheduled cleaning, I was told the appointment had been canceled because of their scheduling issue. I had received no call, no voicemail, and no cancellation notice -- only text reminders to confirm the appointment and reminder that it's time to make a new appointment. Instead of offering a sincere apology or acknowledging the inconvenience, the receptionist (Robin) repeatedly insisted they had called me several times ( no history of a single phone call from them on my phone) and simply asked if I wanted to reschedule. It's a shame, because the doctors and hygienists are excellent, but the lack of professionalism and training at the front desk makes the overall experience much less positive than it should be. I truly hope they can address these issues, as the clinical side of the practice deserves better support.
