This is a hidden gem for sure. So glad we stumbled across this place. Everything we have tried has been delicious. But our favorite has to be the burgers.They may be the best burgers in town. Nashville chicken and waffles delicious, black and blue quesadilla super good and I never like slaw but even I was eating that chipotle lime slaw. The entire order was correct and packed to perfection and we had a pretty large order I know businesses are short staffed but even before covid it was rare to place a take out order and have everything perfect. Not sure what has happened here, but for about 6 months it's been wildly inconsistent, which is frustrating. I've been trying to be a fan, but, it'll be a very long time before I go back, which is a bummer. What's inconsistent you ask? My orders are all over the place, wrong sides, wrong breads, screwing up the for 'here' orders with my 'togo' items, sometimes generous sandwich fillings sometimes incredibly stingy, it takes 20 minutes to get a cold sandwich when the place has no one in it and when there is a mistake, thats another 15-20 minutes- it shouldn't take 30-40 minutes to get a cold sandwich order in a place that is not slammed, ever, did I mention that I get togo orders that are regularly wrong. And the kicker is that I've gotten seriously sick from the salad twice in just a short while - I really liked their version of the cobb, until I got sick twice, and now with everything else just being pretty haphazard, I'm just calling it a day. Fantastic HEALTHY food options that were delectable, and a staff that is super friendly and dedicated to customer service! We loved our lunch which included (all homemade, from scratch) chicken salad on high quality whole wheat; "Spinning wheel" sandwich with home-roasted turkey that was to die for; and lime-cilantro chicken tacos that were awesome. Outstanding, A++++!Everything is homemade, and much is organic. Top quality ingredients!!! Please see their website for all of there services which includes catering and sale of frozen meals. So happy to find this restaurant (we were tourists), which was recommended by my Mom's hairdresser as her personal favorite! I can see why. They made their own hummus and have such a variety of meal choices that I could go everyday and never get bored or tired of it. I so wish they would open a restaurant in my hometown in California!!! :) Friendly owners and staff, and exceptionally well-conceived menu! Plenty for the meat-eater, the vegetarian, the aficionado of spicy food and also for those who cant do spicy! And their home-style and stylish hand-written menu boards are easy to read and fun! If the US were filled with restaurants like Kanini's (which offers healthy/nutricious choices that are also TASTY and exciting at reasonable prices) I do believe the average lifespan would increase in our country! I am so glad I stumbled upon this little restaurant! I am in town for work and was actually driving to another restaurant when I spotted Kanini's. I ate here for lunch the three days that I was in town! Every day I tried something different and I was very pleased with each meal! By the end of the week they knew me by name. Delicious, fresh food, healthy choices. I would have been eating unhealthy lunches each day if it weren't for Kanini's. If I'm ever back in Waynesville I will eat there again! read more

Fresh, interesting food options. Friendly, and informative staff. Basically a service window operation, you order and pay at the counter, get your drink there and the staff brings you your food. We had the Hilltop BBQ sandwich and two different kinds of hummus as sides, all very nicely prepared and tasty. We'll go again! read more

What a gem! The staff is friendly and helpful, the food is absolutely delicious, the atmosphere is homey, and the locals obviously frequent it! We had the (freshly- roasted) turkey sandwich, which we ordered just as we liked (no problem with changes, which is always a pleasure) and the (homemade)chicken salad sandwich on whole grain bread, which was also delicious. We were in the area for the Christmas holidays and were very fortunate to find Kanini's to cater our Christmas dinner. They allowed us to customize our order and provided us with a wonderfully prepared, well seasoned, delicious and healthy meal that had an unmistakeable home made savor. Their use of natural ingredients is evident. I stopped by to finalize the order and selected three of their frozen entrees to enjoy during our week stay which were equally delicious.
