We were driving through town and stumbled upon Red Fox. What a delight! The food was great and the service was even better. They had happy hour specials. We took advantage of the app happy hour! Everything was fresh. overall if this was my local restaurant, I think I'd be a regular.

If you're coming at dinner, especially on a Saturday night, make reservations! We were seated right away. Our waitress was pleasant and knowledgeable. The appetizer, Parmesan fries, came out hot and delicious. That lemon aioli is scrumptious! Our entrees- Shrimp and Gouda Grits and the braised short ribs were both solid choices. Both tasty. We opted to forgo dessert although it sounded delicious. We were just stuffed. Big open restaurant, lots of TVs for sports enthusiasts. Not particularly romantic, but a good restaurant.

What a great location and place to grab lunch with a friend. The fish and chips are really good and we're very generous. The price is really good for what you get. I love the interior that is rustic and open. The staff are very friendly and very accommodating. The food was great and the service was quick.

Our first impression is that the service isn't going to be great/slow. The staff seem a little on the slow moving side perhaps due to being busy? Our waitress who was the bartender is tending to the whole bar (about 6 people), a group of 6 (us) and a family of 10. They have two separate menus with different offerings for lunch & dinner. I have attached photos of the dinner menu. The food came out quickly and our Waitress, Heather took good care of us and ensured we had everything. Grandma didn't like her Fish so they refunded it for her. The price is a solid $$.

Went to dinner with family and had another wonderful meal at this restaurant. Although owned by Boojum brewery they also have a full bar. We had the fried pickles and calamari to start both were very tasty. One niece had the waffle which was huge but she ate the entire thing. Several of us had wings which were also cooked great. Crispy. One had chicken fried steak and one had fish and chips. Wa have been several times and they are very consistent Our server was so cheerful, funny and helpful. They are lucky to have him working there. We wlll definitely return again !! Thank you for all the beautiful decorations. It was very festive.

Great southern meal at The Red Fox. We started with the Pimento Cheese Skillet, it was good, just needed to include more slices of bread. We ordered Steak Bowls, Blackened Chicken Alfredo, Brisket Egg-rolls, and the Tortilla Soup for our mains. Everything was simple but delicious. The restaurant's decor is Mountain-cute.

We had lunch today at Red Fox. We had the Maple Chicken and Waffle sandwich and the BBQ Cowboy Tacos. The chicken sandwich was nice and spicy (as advertised). The waffles were outstanding. Really flavorful! As for the tacos, they were tasty as well. We all had fries as our side dish, and they were crispy, fresh, and well seasoned. Although this restaurant is owned by the same people that own Boojum Brewing Company on Main Street, the menus are definitely different (so it's not like just eating at Boojum in a different location. The restaurant itself is spacious, clean, and well arranged regarding seating (booths, tables, and bar). It's nice that they have a full bar with a nice selection (for those that want a drink). There were plenty of people working, so the service was fast and friendly. Despite the current construction on Russ avenue, the Red Fox is easy to get in and out of. This restaurant is a nice addition to the already wonderful assortment of great restaurants in Waynesville.

We ordered several appetizers, and every one of them was phenomenal. The Caesar salad was beautifully presented in a Parmesan cup, making it just as fun to look at as it was to eat. The oysters were buttery, creamy, and absolutely delicious. When our waitress explained that the udon noodles and plate would be served cold while the salmon would be hot and crispy, I wasn't sure what to expect. It caught me off guard, but it ended up being an incredible combination. It was honestly the best salmon dish I've ever had. The restaurant was completely full, but they were kind enough to seat us outside. The weather was absolutely perfect, and I didn't feel like we missed out at all. It created the perfect summer winery atmosphere. We finished with dessert, and it was the perfect ending to the meal--rich, indulgent, and absolutely delicious.

This is not a vegan/vegetarian restaurant, but there are items on the menu for those who choose such dietary options. When we were there, there was a Risotto made with Faro that was very rich, and very tasty. There weren't many other options for us, so I am glad that this one was so good. The restaurant, itself, is very comfortable, the service is excellent, and both the wine list, and the beer list are long. I like that they had several "local" beer offerings, and the porter I had was perfect; as good as any I've had anywhere. Our waitress explained that it's because of the local water, filtered by the mountains. I believe it. I agree with all of the five star ratings, but I, myself, couldn't got five because of the predominantly "meat-oriented" menu. I do understand that any restaurant needs to appeal to its customer base, and I get the idea the veganism/vegetarianism isn't real big here in the mountains. I only say that so people with dietary restrictions will know ahead of time, but I do recommend this restaurant for anyone visiting the area.

The space itself is genuinely grand, well-decorated, comfortable seating, a nice billiards room, and (maybe the highest compliment you can pay a pub) no old-bar smell or locals that make you feel out of place. The bathrooms were clean. The whole place was clean. For a neighborhood spot built around long conversations, it delivers. The drinks are the reason to come. The Riesling on the menu was good, and the winter bourbon (infused with apple), actually tasted spirited. What I appreciated most: no snootiness. Some Scottish and Irish pubs get precious about sticking to the house whisky program and gently disapprove if you order a cocktail or wine. Not here. They let you drink what you want to drink. Service was friendly and checked in at a good cadence. One note: the food came out way too fast. Appetizers hit the table, and the mains arrived about a minute later; we barely got into the fried cheese curds or tandoori fries before everything else was competing for space. The tandoor twist on the fries was a fun surprise, but generally the food read as average pub food. The salmon was dry (lesson learned: order it medium rare next time). The mashed potatoes on the shepherd's pie were the real highlight. 3.5 Stars. Credit where it's due: the menu is wide and actually vegan- and vegetarian-friendly, which is rarer than it should be in a pub, and there is a general playfulness in the atmosphere. What would push it higher: food that matches the level of the space, the excellent service, and the drinks. Pace out the courses, the salmon needs help, and strengthen the dishes a notch. We'll go back, just not for the salmon. The room, the drinks, and the staff all brought their A-game. The kitchen brought a B-game.

Two bathrooms, two steam showers, sauna, living room with fireplace, outdoor balcony with fireplace and shower, and it's right across the fence from our nations most popular park-Great Smokey Mountains National Park. We walked right out our door to hike. Nearby trials take you to waterfalls, waterwheels, and the spectacular panoramics from atop Gooseberry Knob or Hemphill Bald. We returned from one of our hikes just in time for the Swag's stellar bbq picnic. That leads nicely to the food and service which is as good as it comes-and frankly what you can expect from a Relais and Chateau. Tables with your names for breakfast and dinner, nightly bites during happy hour, and even lunches to go for your adventures. Which, for us even included horseback riding at the nearby stables. The Swag is a premier lodge nestled on a mountainside in the Smoky Mountains high over Waynesville NC. It offers spectacular views, immediate access to the Great Smoky Mountain National Park by simply walking through a gap in the fence outside the main lodge, fine dining, pickleball courts, a spa, and a small gym and pool. An expert naturalist is often in residence and conducts a variety of activities, including organized hikes, talks about wildlife (bears, coyotes, bioluminescence and other interesting aspects of the natural world).  Other activities include a presentation on coffee making by their barista and wine tasting sessions. But if all you want to do is just have a wonderful place to  relax and enjoy being in the great outdoors, The Swag is one of the best places you can go. The Swag is a Relais and Chateaux resort so accommodations are excellent and range from a comfortable, well furnished bedroom for two to a cabin suitable for an entire family. À la carte breakfasts, packaged lunches (including backpacks and water bottles if needed), and four-course dinners are included in the daily rates. The lunch and dinner menus change daily, but dinner entree choices typically include beef, seafood, poultry and vegetarian options. On Wednesdays and Saturdays there is a mountain top lunch picnic with abundant food. Thursday evening is barbecue night. Food at The Swag is locally sourced and quality standards are exceptionally high.  Service at The Swag is truly exceptional. Every employee is focused on making sure all of your needs are met. The kitchen tries to accommodate any special requests. Much of the resort's clientele return year after year, and guests are automatically offered a return reservation for the same time and accommodation next year at the time of checkout. This is great for established clients and has allowed The Swag to build a large band of loyal followers, including us, but this does make it harder for first-timers to get a reservation for a time and accommodation they would like. My advice is just keep trying!  We got our first reservation after many tries when someone cancelled while we were on the phone with the lodge trying to get one. Tradition means a lot at The Swag, and that is a good thing. My only suggestion to them is to consider adding an à la carte section to the dinner menu as many other fine dining establishments do. It would give the kitchen more opportunity to try out dishes before adding them to the prix fixe choices and allow guests who may not want a full four course dinner every night an alternative. I realize that this would complicate the traditional pricing scheme, but that should be manageable.
