Must have caught them on a bad day. A very bad day. No club sandwiches...we're out. Ok, a Reuben sandwich. Sorry, we're out. What DO you have?? Burgers...we have lettuce, but no tomatoes. Ok, give me a Philly cheesesteak sandwich with fries. Sorry, no fries. You like tater tots? Uggghhh. I did notice that none of the previous employees were working. I don't know what has gone on over here. I honestly don't know what happened over here. It is hit and miss. Sometimes it is good, And sometimes is it really bad. They tried to serve me a hamburger that was soaking in a tub of "whatever it was". I saw this and asked for a fresh made burger. I was shocked that they would attempt to serve something that disgusting. read more

This place has been destroyed by the new owners. Used to be out go to place. Now, although breakfast is until 11, they may or may not serve it by 10:30. Today we tried again and they would only serve breakfast. We have a 7 year old who just wanted a hot dog and they refused to throw one I. The griddle for her. Ridiculous. Don't believe the good reviews. This place is a nasty greasy spoon that's not worth your patronage. Stale biscuits, bacon cooked in the deep fryer, eggs cooked in liquid shortening, the dried out minuscule portion of country ham was pathetic. I couldn't finish the eggs because of the odd chemical aroma. The filthy ground littered with cigarette buts and trash just outside the front door should have been a clue to get back in the car. I'm giving this place 5 stars for what it is... a gas station diner! And one of the only places around serving breakfast on a Sunday. The ladies that work here have that sweet southern charm and are absolutely lovely. The food - none of which is homemade but assembled deliciously from boxes and bags. The constant banter behind the counter is lively and fun. We stopped for a late breakfast after watching the elk at Cataloochie Valley. I got biscuits and gravy, eggs and sausage. Everything was perfectly cooked, and the biscuits are to die for. I asked about an item another guest was eating, and the owner fried up a couple of the loaded potato barrels, and gave them to us for free. You need to try them. The place is kinda divey but it is packed with locals. It's sometimes hard to find a place to park and you may even have to wait to get a seat. The working crews hit it early and the farmers and older folks sometimes linger over a cup of coffee. The working guys pack in again for lunch keeping the one cook and one server very, very busy. For a small place, the menu has something for everyone, breakfast or lunch. The portions are massive and the prices are unbelievably cheap. A few of us were traveling together and decided to stop for breakfast. We were a little suspicious because on the outside this place looked rough. BUT when we walked it wasn't what we expected. OMG a pan of biscuits had just came out of the oven and they were pretty and fluffy. Those biscuits sold it for me. I got an omelet with hashbrowns, biscuit and sausage. Let me tell y'all I couldn't eat it all. I took the sausage biscuit with me. When I ate it later it was STILL soft and fluffy. Everything was delicious. Don't get off the interstate for this place, we made that mistake. Perhaps it is great food for the locals - everyone in the place seemed to know each other, but the food was just not appealing. The burger was ok, but the fries - ehhh. And the onion rings were standard frozen onion rings. Fried green tomatoes were over breaded and over cooked and came with no dipping sauce. The corn nuggets were worse than what you got in the school cafeteria and cooked until dry, if that is possible. We get our gas at Sorrells and the Cafe is located there. It isn't very impressive from the outside, but we heard that the food was good there, so my husband and I decided to give it a try. We went there for breakfast and we're pleasantly surprised. The inside was much better than the outside. We were greeted by the owner as soon as we walked in. The menu selections were good. My eggs were done perfectly. My husband said his sausage was the delicious. The service was great! We will definitely be going back for lunch to try their patty melt. read more

Skip the Fear Factor at Gigi's carnival food and make your way to J Creek's with Annie and Jessica. They are the best servers in town! Heck, they may be the only ones on this stretch of road. They're energetic enthusiasm is contagious. The food was an exceptional value and delicious. Try a burger with cheese, chili, or loaded down, they are the bomb! My family has eaten breakfast at J-Creek Cafe for a long time. It pains me to write this review, but I feel I must. On the 3rd of every month, we were there for take out. The staff was as friendly as could be, the service was terrific, and the food was out of this world delicious. The combination of attitude, food, and service kept us coming back. I'm sorry to say that the diner changed hands. The service and friendliness is still there, but that's it. The food went down hill bad. The last time I went we ordered our usual. That was our first time eating there after they changed hands. They spread the eggs on my omelet so thin you couldn't even sell them for a crepe, and the spices were terribly done. I got home, and had to return them for a redo. Unfortunately, the second time around was no better. We haven't been back since. read more
