Change is sometimes what a business needs to truly be seen and to make a difference in the community. New Peking Restaurant is not a new business in Cerritos, nor is it new to restaurants on South St. Formerly located on Bloomfield and South, but because of the closure of the plaza it was originally located at, New Peking relocated to South and Pioneer at the Sprouts plaza. With many Asian restaurants at this plaza, New Peking took over the prior Thai restaurant and now there is a Chinese restaurant to join the variety of Asian flavors. I truly believe that New Peking has made a change for the better compared to what I remember how the food was at their prior location. If part or the relocation was a change in menu choices or a new chef, whatever it was, if there was even a change, things are looking very promising for New Peking Chinese and Korean Restaurant. Service was pretty good as well. I don't know if the word has gotten out yet, but they weren't extremely busy, but including our table, there was another big table celebrating something and the ladies handled it well. Service was great. New Peking might be the new go to for family get togethers because one, they have the space to accommodate large groups and two, they accepted our reservation.

We were looking to try a new Chinese restaurant in the surrounding area and we came across this place. It was Friday night but was very quiet (not sure why). Service was quick and people working there were really nice. They took our order and food came out in right amount of time. We tried their egg roll, Szechuan Chicken, Fried shrimp in Garlic sauce, and chow mein. Everything was delicious. Their Szechuan sauce was really good. Garlic sauce had a nice distinct flavor to it and it tasted amazing! Good food and good people, we will be coming back to try other dishes. Highly recommend.

Tried this Chinese place we saw next to Jomaru and it was pretty good. The cream cheese wontons had a bit of imitation crab inside. They were light and crispy. The server also brought over some wonton strips along with the sweet and sour sauce. The mushu pork was presented differently than I am used to. They came pre-wrapped with a side of sauce. The filling was flavorful and delicious. The salt & pepper pork was served with a bowl of white rice. It was not spicy at all and definitely could have used more heat! I also like it when it's crispier. The jjangmyun was different than our usual spot. The noodles were thinner and the sauce was thinner. The meat was tender and cooked well. It's a good spot if you are looking for a Chinese restaurant that tastes clean and authentic in the area.

Food here is good--generous portions and hard to complain about the pricing. We ordered four entrées, and our two favorites were the mapo tofu and Mongolian beef. There isn't much dine-in traffic, so there's plenty of space; most customers seem to order takeout. The staff were very friendly and accommodating. Family-friendly spot--would recommend.

Solid classic southern Chinese food with Korean-Chinese options. Had some good Korean sweetsour fried shrimp, braised green string beans, YangZhou fried rice, salt pepper fried porkchop, and jjajangmyeon black bean sauce noodles.

All the food was very good here, spacious and not too busy on Sunday during brunch time. Service is a little slow otherwise would have given it a 5 star. We'll definitely be back, my family 5 loved the food. Some of our favorites were the orange chicken, green beans, and the chicken fried rice. Reasonably priced, we had a ton of leftovers to bring home and manage to spend under $150 for 6 dishes, that's a plus for us!

This new chinese/korean spot opened up in a busy plaza in Cerritos. From previous photos and reviews, they moved from a different plaza on Bloomfield/South. Right now since it's grand opening, they are having a 10% discount. Plenty of seating available, and easy parking at the plaza. I have ordered their mongolian beef, orange chicken, honey walnut shrimp, salt and pepper fish fillet, and cream cheese wontons. All have been very delicious and I find myself wanting to come back to try more dishes. Service has been friendly and attentive as well. Highly recommend.

On a Tuesday evening, drove to this plaza to get some take out, apparently the restaurant I wanted to take out from was closed and so I searched here on yelp to find a nearby restaurant that offered a certain meal my family wanted. I bumped to this place by my surprise, my favorite Thai restaurant was gone, so Welcome to this location. So I walked in to give them a try. One, I wasn't greeted So I slowly walked towards the front host table, no one came by so I saw a menu and proceeded to see what they offer. I was standing there for a long while, I could have simply left. They only had like 3 or 4 families seated There were no signages of where I can order to take out or someone to tell me if am in the wrong spot. So I was going to give a very last chance so I walked towards the back and noticed a cash register so I was like "oh so I order here then?" Mind you there were workers there talking to each other the whole time. So finally, I placed an order for take out. Overall, this was not nice or convenient to have a customer waiting or ignored. I then heard and saw some customers getting up from their tables asking for utensils and condiments. Let me tell you though, the food was great. I loved it. Just the service not so great at all.

Ask the Community - New Peking Restaurant

Is this the same Peking Restaurant that once was in Downey?

No. As far as I know they were at the Bloomfield and South Street location.

Is this the former Peking Wok that used to be at Plaza 183 in Cerritos?

No, they moved from Bloomfield and kept the same name. And just as good too!

Have they opened at new location?

Not yet. They are moving to a new location by Sprouts on South, next to the donut shop. I went by yesterday 8/6 and there was no construction activity or signage. It may be a while longer.

    What is their new address?

11900 South Street, Suite 112, Cerritos, CA 90703 they just reopened 12/11/2025

Been going here for over 20 years now but I havent been in a while. Is it still the same owners (the ones that are pictured on newspaper clipping on the wall)?

No Steve does not own the restaurant any longer but I think it is still with in the family.

    Are they open?

They are closed and moving to a new location at the end of June. 11900 SouthSt.

I want to have a large dinner party for family. Roughly 20-25 people. Will this place accommodate? Also is there a large party menu we can order like a prefixed menu?

I don't think they have a private banquet area, but they could push tables together to accommodate I'm pretty sure. I believe they have a catering menu too.

I want to order a party tray, do I need to do it 24 hours in advance or can I just go in, order and wait for it?…

Depends on how big of a party tray your planning on ordering but I would order at least 8-12 hours ahead of time~

I absolutely loved the crispy bottom layer because it added such a satisfying crunch to every bite. The inside stayed really juicy and flavorful with a good balance of pork, shrimp, and chives. The Juicy Pork Dumplings had soup inside, which was rich and savory. I've had soup dumplings before where the wrapper breaks apart too easily, but these held together nicely while still staying soft and delicate. The Wonton in Spicy Sauce was my personal favorite from the entire meal. The spicy sauce flavor was savory with a little sweetness. I'm typically not good with spice, so this is at a spice level that should be very manageable for everyone. I absolutely loved the spicy sauce, so I started putting it on everything. Definitely put the sauce on the chicken fried rice! The Chicken Fried Rice was a great dish to pair with everything else that we ordered. With several orders of entrees, a solid rice dish is a must order for any Chinese meal. The rice had a nice savory flavor that I enjoyed, and there was a generous amount of chicken mixed throughout the dish. I even asked the waitress if they do anything special with the fried rice because it tasted better than many other restaurants. It felt comforting and balanced compared to some of the heavier dishes. The Dry Fried String Beans were cooked perfectly with a slight crispness while still being tender. The garlic and seasoning gave them so much flavor that it honestly didn't even feel like I was eating vegetables. I do have to note that these were very much on the salty side, so if you don't like foods that are too salty, I would choose a different dish. The Orange Chicken was really crispy and juicy, which I appreciated because soggy orange chicken is always disappointing to me. The sauce had a nice citrus flavor while still keeping that classic sweet savory taste. The Spring Rolls were simple with vegetable filling on the inside with a crispy outside. I would try a different appetizer next time. The Kung Pao Shrimp was packed with flavor and had a really satisfying combination of textures. The shrimp were tender, and the peanuts added a great crunch to the dish. I thought the sauce had a really nice balance of spice and savoriness without becoming overwhelming. Another dish I really enjoyed was the Beef Roll Pancake. The pancake itself was nice and chewy throughout each bite. The sliced beef with green onions and sauce all wrapped together made every bite really flavorful and satisfying. For drinks, I ordered the Jasmine Milk Tea with Boba. I really liked that the jasmine tea flavor was noticeable instead of being overly sweet like some milk teas can be. The boba had a soft chewy texture, and the drink itself paired perfectly with the spicy and savory dishes from the meal. Staff: All of the staff members were quick and friendly Ambiance: Indoor seating only. A good amount of parking in the parking lot that is shared with other shops in the plaza.

At first, I wasn't sure what to expect, but the overall experience was better than I anticipated. The seasoning was a little strong, and some dishes had a fairly familiar, standardized taste. Nothing was bad, and everything was prepared well, but I do feel a little disappointed when the authentic flavors of traditional Chinese food become less noticeable. There were four of us, and we ordered about eight or nine of their most popular dishes. My parents really enjoyed the food. I have worked in China before, so I may be a little more sensitive and particular when it comes to Chinese food. Overall, the restaurant has good reviews, the prices are reasonable, and it was a pretty good dining experience.

Since then,…read morethey've expanded all over southern California, and I think they are the best option for dim sum near Cerritos. Criticism that their dim sum dishes are expensive is valid, but I don't mind spending for their dishes because they generally serve giant, protein-filled dumplings and I enjoy that their dim sum is made to order. The other reasons that could yield a two- or three-star experience here are that service isn't great and some of their dim sum offerings, such as their xiao long bao (soup dumplings) aren't great. I also don't like that they charge you like $2 for a small container of chili oil. I do enjoy their fried offerings and their shiu mai and they're quite filling. This time, I got their mala spiced har gow and their chili won tons. Both were okay, but I don't think that I'd order them again. I understand why one could rate this as a three-star dining experience; however, it remains my local go-to option for dim sum because of their large dumpings, their made-to-order dishes, and because they're dumplings are pretty filled to the brim with meat.

And prefer it over many other Asian cuisines.* The reason I chose M's Kitchen over two other Taiwanese restaurants in the area? So many more vegetable dishes! And wow, am I completely grateful I did! We arrived on a Saturday evening, and the server and chef were both in the kitchen. The server came over and gave us menus before getting our drink orders. She was prompt in a very caring manner without ever seeming rushed. She had lots of suggestions as we asked questions about the menu. At some point, the chef was sitting with us, and she asked him clarifying questions for us. She even went back into the kitchen to find out which vegetables were the freshest (which I appreciated)! We ordered a cup of ginseng and goji berry chicken soup, chicken cream corn soup (with egg), ong choy with garlic, walnut shrimp, crispy tofu, and green scallion pancake. As each dish came out, it felt like different instruments in an orchestra being highlighted as they wove into the tapestry of the music. The ong choy built onto the soup, the crispy tofu onto the ong choy and soup, and so on! Until there was this grand harmony of pulsating flavors and textures! I thoroughly enjoyed each dish! I only wish I had a bigger appetite so I could eat more and faster! The server helped us to pack the leftovers. We spoke about how traditional Chinese and Taiwanese food get lost in the mix of more modern and fusion recipes and restaurants.
