I have been coming here for over 30 years, and I'm so happy to see them still in business and now in a new location. The servers are always friendly, the food is consistently good, and the prices are very reasonable. I'm really glad they were able to move into a new place--it's well deserved after all these years. We stopped by for a quick Lunch while walking near this plaza in Cerritos. The menu had some interesting Lunch Specials and we decided to go with their Kung Pao Chicken and Mongolian Beef Lunch Specials. It came with Soups - We got Egg Drop and Hot and Sour with them. The soups were ok . Food itself was very average. Nothing much to write about. It was lacking flavors in general and the ambiance was quite and functional. Service was efficient. Change is sometimes what a business needs to truly be seen and to make a difference in the community. New Peking Restaurant is not a new business in Cerritos, nor is it new to restaurants on South St. Formerly located on Bloomfield and South, but because of the closure of the plaza it was originally located at, New Peking relocated to South and Pioneer at the Sprouts plaza. With many Asian restaurants at this plaza, New Peking took over the prior Thai restaurant and now there is a Chinese restaurant to join the variety of Asian flavors. I truly believe that New Peking has made a change for the better compared to what I remember how the food was at their prior location. If part or the relocation was a change in menu choices or a new chef, whatever it was, if there was even a change, things are looking very promising for New Peking Chinese and Korean Restaurant. Service was pretty good as well. I don't know if the word has gotten out yet, but they weren't extremely busy, but including our table, there was another big table celebrating something and the ladies handled it well. I got to check out this place finally. It's Korean Chinese restaurant but I would say it may be more on the Chinese side. The jajangmyeon is pretty solid. The noodles were chewy and the sauce was flavorful. My picky kid loved it. We also got the tangsuyuk which was not quite what I expected. It had more flourly dough and not your typical style. However, the sauce is good and I like the pineapple pieces. I also got the beef noodle soup that was not my style. It is braised beef but the flavor isn't there for me. I think if you come to this place, stick with the stir fry dishes. I would come back for the jajangmyeon and to try out their jjamppong next time. We were looking to try a new Chinese restaurant in the surrounding area and we came across this place. It was Friday night but was very quiet (not sure why). Service was quick and people working there were really nice. They took our order and food came out in right amount of time. We tried their egg roll, Szechuan Chicken, Fried shrimp in Garlic sauce, and chow mein. Everything was delicious. Their Szechuan sauce was really good. Tried this Chinese place we saw next to Jomaru and it was pretty good. The cream cheese wontons had a bit of imitation crab inside. They were light and crispy. The server also brought over some wonton strips along with the sweet and sour sauce. The mushu pork was presented differently than I am used to. They came pre-wrapped with a side of sauce. The filling was flavorful and delicious. The salt & pepper pork was served with a bowl of white rice. It was not spicy at all and definitely could have used more heat! I also like it when it's crispier. The jjangmyun was different than our usual spot. The noodles were thinner and the sauce was thinner. The meat was tender and cooked well. It's a good spot if you are looking for a Chinese restaurant that tastes clean and authentic in the area. read more

Food here is good--generous portions and hard to complain about the pricing. We ordered four entrées, and our two favorites were the mapo tofu and Mongolian beef. Peoples..Dial back the clock to prepandemic time. COVID never happened and you wanted to eat some decent Chinese food. This is the only restaurant left that gives generous portions without soaking the crap out of you. I normally get to know the owners and I briefly talked about their decisions they made. One was to offer larger portions for families and second was to charge a reasonable amount for the food, but not what other restaurants have done.. I ordered two dishes and I had at least enough food for a few meals. The staff was great. All the food was very good here, spacious and not too busy on Sunday during brunch time. Service is a little slow otherwise would have given it a 5 star. We'll definitely be back, my family 5 loved the food. Some of our favorites were the orange chicken, green beans, and the chicken fried rice. This new chinese/korean spot opened up in a busy plaza in Cerritos. From previous photos and reviews, they moved from a different plaza on Bloomfield/South. Right now since it's grand opening, they are having a 10% discount. Plenty of seating available, and easy parking at the plaza. I have ordered their mongolian beef, orange chicken, honey walnut shrimp, salt and pepper fish fillet, and cream cheese wontons. On a Tuesday evening, drove to this plaza to get some take out, apparently the restaurant I wanted to take out from was closed and so I searched here on yelp to find a nearby restaurant that offered a certain meal my family wanted. I bumped to this place by my surprise, my favorite Thai restaurant was gone, so Welcome to this location. So I walked in to give them a try. One, I wasn't greeted So I slowly walked towards the front host table, no one came by so I saw a menu and proceeded to see what they offer. I was standing there for a long while, I could have simply left. They only had like 3 or 4 families seated There were no signages of where I can order to take out or someone to tell me if am in the wrong spot. So I was going to give a very last chance so I walked towards the back and noticed a cash register so I was like "oh so I order here then?" Mind you there were workers there talking to each other the whole time. So finally, I placed an order for take out. Overall, this was not nice or convenient to have a customer waiting or ignored. I then heard and saw some customers getting up from their tables asking for utensils and condiments. Let me tell you though, the food was great. I loved it. My interest in dining here started when I stopped-by their previous location for a take-out menu. The place looked very cozy, and I was hoping to visit soon after. Next thing I know, it was closed and awaiting relocation to a new spot. Fast forward to my visit to their new restaurant. Not as cozy looking as before, but awesome in every other way! I tried their beef and broccoli. It's a basic dish, but it tells the quality of a restaurant. This dish was perfect. The beef was top quality. The broccoli was perfectly cooked; not overdone, but with the proper amount of crisp. It was obviously this was freshly prepared. Now, let's talk about the best part of New Peking Restaurant - the staff. Friendly and efficient, with a genuine smile whenever they checked-up on us. I really wanted some chinese food. This isn't terrible but not what I was looking for. I saw the Egg foo young on the menu and was excited. However, this is not like a normal egg foo young. This was a few pieces cut up in triangles and it was smothered with vegetables. Definitely was different and I didn't like it. The containers they use are plastic and the food is so very hot that I couldn't help but wonder about all the plastic melting. lol I love hot food so I can definitely appreciate how hot the food was. The orange chicken was okay. The chow mein was okay too. The fortune cookies were stale that was disappointing. The thai tea was very good. It is so hard to find a great chinese food place. If you're Korean and looking for 짜장면 & 탕수육, this is not where you want to go. The 짜장면 jjajang myun sauce was not "right." It tasted more like the real Chinese dish than the Koreanized version. The batter in the 탕수육 tangsooyook was too thick, almost like a beer batter. read more

What a nice find! My wife and I had a hankering for Chinese food. We thought a new restaurant was exactly what we should experience. 'New Peking' certainly filled the bill. It is located towards the back of a small mall, making it a little hard to know it is there. Thankfully, Yelp guided us to this delightful restaurant. We had our choice of seating, taking seats in a booth located next to a wall. For lunch we both had the sweet and sour pork which was one of their specials. We rarely order the same thing, but we both had a strong urge for pork. The egg flower soup was nice. The entree was darn right both delicious and massive in portion. Jajang Mein had great flavor, and included some nice flavorful beef. The Korean Sweet and Sour Shrimp had a great batter, and fried perfectly, and paired so well with the sweet and sour dipping sauce. The orange chicken was great too, flavorful and crunchy. This is your old school Chinese restaurant that you went to back in the day before Panda Express got to be so popular. We started with the pu-pu platter which is an assortment of appetizers. The best thing in the platter was the beef sticks. The egg rolls were good, but a bit greasy. For our main dishes we got the almond chicken and kung pao chicken. I liked the kung pao better and it wasn't too spicy either. You're not getting a flashy upscale restaurant but the food is decent and so are the prices. I was staying at a friend's house and really craving mu shu pork. After searching the menus of a number of nearby Chinese restaurants and coming up empty I found New Peking and was excited to order. I called in for pickup and headed over. Food was ready quickly and on time and the server was friendly, but that's about where the good things end. I ordered three items: Streamed dumplings: these might have been ok, but I assumed they would be pork dumplings (my bad, I guess I should have confirmed) and they were chicken dumplings. Sauce that came with them was ok, but not to my personal liking. I ended up giving the rest away after eating one. BBQ pork appetizer: This was ok, and mostly what I ended up eating for dinner. Pork was cut into bite sized pieces that weren't exactly dry but also weren't as moist as I'd expect. Sauce was not evenly distributed. My Shu pork: this was just... bad. I was so disappointed. The dish was mostly cabbage, to the point that it tasted like I was eating a cabbage roll and it didn't come with any sauce. I threw it out after eating one pancake. read more

I usually try to give places the benefit of the doubt, but after today's visit, I've decided that I won't be returning. The staff were generally friendly, which I appreciated, but unfortunately the food was extremely disappointing. The jjamppong looked spicy because of its red color, but the broth tasted very bland and lacked any depth of flavor. The black bean noodles were honestly the worst I've ever had. I'm not sure what ingredients are used, but the taste was far from what I expected. In addition, there was a strong spice or seasoning that I don't normally encounter in Chinese food, which may not be suitable for people who are sensitive to spices. Since I was dining with my children, we ordered several dishes, including orange chicken, but overall we felt that the quality did not match the price.
