    Chocolate Blackberry Cake!!! Amazing!

I was hungry, however the food made me slow down and savor the moment with every bite. The service was friendly and perfect for a relaxed dinner in their cozy Coupeville restaurant.

Sorry, had to eat it. Labna (labneh) I would never had ordered this but so glad the chef made it

I had one of the best meals of my life yesterday. All I can say is if you ever get the chance to go here do it and order the tasting menu. Let the chefs decide. You'll try things and combinations you never thought of (bite size pickled Hubbard squash-yum, pasta with crab to die for) so much I can't even type it all and you'll love it. I started taking pictures but after the 2nd course was too caught up with the food... and was there a lot. They've thought of everything. Going back today for happy hour and already made reservations for dinner so I can order some of the items I saw pass by my table. Absolutely stunning and the staff is spectacular. They all work together and make it so enjoyable. It's small but that's what makes it even better.

While visiting Whidbey Island, a friend recommended The Oystercatcher for our party of 6. Making reservations was tricky in that you could only make a reservation for 4 or for 2. After a quick phone call we were able to be seated at one table. However, the table was situated in a narrow space that whenever a server passed by, my chair was bumped. Moreover, the three of us facing the window were blinded by the sun (even though there is a sun screen). As for the food, it's expertly prepared and well thought out. Although I would have loved to have ordered the Chef's Tasting Menu, everyone in the party must order it and I knew going in that one in our party wasn't having it so we did the next best thing: we ordered practically everything on the menu and shared it family style. Half Dozen Grilled Oysters - plump, meaty, creamy Little Red Hen Bakery Bread - seasonal house-made butter was unique Heirloom Tomato Salad - beautiful Whidbey Farm Salad - beautifully presented Parisian Gnocchi - didn't get a chance to try Ceviche Trio - not what I expected, I wouldn't order again Carlton Farms Pork Belly - a table favorite, should have ordered 2 Crispy Brussels Sprouts - tasty Haricot Vert - tasty Little Red Hen Linguine Grimaud Farms Smoked Duck - a table favorite Alaskan Halibut - well prepared, not overcooked, loved it Wild King Salmon - I wish I knew how to prepare fish like this Desserts - ordered one of each, they were all good Finn River Black Currant Cider - yum Our server was pleasant. Everyone left satisfied.

The food here is out of this world they take so much time consideration to make everything feel special. My husband did a surprise party for my birthday here and they did an entire menu just for me. It was amazing.!

We were traveling around this area and wanted some local oysters. What we found was the most delicious meal we have had in the San Juan Islands! We started with a flavorful salad and fresh bread and homemade strawberry butter. Then grilled oysters were perfect with just the right seasonings, followed by grilled octopus and pork belly with an amazing sauce and some greens. The final course was king salmon with squash blossoms and other well paired flavorings. The lemon drop martini and cider were a perfect accompaniment and the hostess/bartender/server was awesome! We suggest sharing so you can try everything. Definitely a highlight of the week!

Eating at The Oystercatcher was the perfect way to end our day exploring Whidbey Island. We made reservations in advance, and I would highly recommend that in order to secure a table - they're a small place. The restaurant is beautiful, and you can see the picturesque cove from the windows. The service was fantastic - shout out to our waiter, Zach. He was extremely attentive, pleasant, and helpful! He helped answer questions we had on menu items and gave us good recommendations for wine pairing with the meal. Definitely order the oysters (duh!!!)! They are incredibly fresh. Probably the best tasting oysters I've ever had. I also highly recommend the seasonal pasta. My linguine was generously loaded with flavorful morels which soaked in the velvety sauce. It was delicious We finished off our meal with dessert - can't go wrong here. Zach also brought us a complimentary after dinner digestif. It wasn't one I was familiar with but it was cinnamon-y and delicious! This was such a special place, and I'm ver glad we got to experience it. I hope we get to visit again one day and maybe we'll even try the chefs tasting menu!

Absolutely delicious! It's so delightful to taste locally sourced food, fresh dungeness crab, everything on the menu was divine. Spectacular service, loved that it's family owned. It's small, but worth the wait, provided blankets on the patio, amazing wine list, and over great ambiance with exceptional and friendly staff. Thank you!

From the exterior, the Oystercatcher is such an unassuming place. Don't let that fool you! As you enter the restaurant, you are immediately enveloped into the warmth and coziness that gives it such a great vibe. There are lovely views of Penn Cove while seated at the table. The hustle and bustle of the tiny interior filled with happy diners all nestled around the kitchen and bar area only adds to the experience. Our table enjoyed oysters and crispy Brussel Sprouts as starters. The Brussels were so flavorful that I highly recommend you order them! My main dish was the Halibut which was prepared perfectly. Clean plate club for our entire table. We wanted wine recommendations for our meal and the manage came over and happily helped us make a selection. If you want local and fresh, this is the place for you! We very much enjoyed our meal here. Recommended without hesitation.

We went, on a lark, for their Valentine's Day special dinner. Maia was very gracious in putting us on the wait list although all the reservations were taken; we were delighted to get her call letting us know there had been a cancellation. Excellent communication! The dinner was lovely, each course accompanied with a thoughtfully selected wine pairing, with local producers and foodstuffs featured at every turn. A playground for the palate! The soft-lit room with happy music set a romantic stage for the stars of the show; a bustling kitchen, alive with activity and mouthwatering aromas, is the heart of the place, and from our vantage point at the "Chef's Counter" we could see the artists at work. A worthy splurge! Highly recommended.

Oystercatcher was one of the three options that was recommended to us by a guy who works at a local distillery. We took a look at the menu from all three of the recommended restauants before deciding that this place was the type of vibe we were looking for today. We came in without any expectations, but Oystercatcher was absolutely an amazing experiencing. We came for an early dinner on Saturday and managed to snag an outdoor table for two, which gave us not only a view of the town, but also the water! Our host was quick on her feet and really friendly. Between the two of us, we opted for Mussels & Clams, which isn't on the dinner menu because it's usually served during happy hour, but they made us a pretty sizeable appetizer. Glad we were able to get this because our recommendations were for mussels, haha. We also got the Whidbey Farm Salad and Alaskan Halibut to share. And because the slices of bread that came with the Mussels & Clams were so good (and locally made) we ended up ordering a side order of bread. Food came at a pretty reasonable time considering how packed the restaurant got as people started coming in for dinner hour. Our Mussels & Clams came first and it was generous in sizing. Although it was big, we finished it entirely. The mussels and clams were all cleaned really well. No grainy sand in-between bites. The soup base that these came in was surprisingly really good. We inquired about it and it's made with a Laotian spice. It was so good! The soup tasted green, earthy, and comforting, but also had a mild kick thanks to a bit of chili sauce. We ordered extra bread to sop up the rest of the soup. The bread was excellent sourdough. We especially loved the sweetness of the molasses bread contrasted with the savory soup. Next up, our Whidbey Farm Salad. It comes with duck proscuitto, but the main highlight for me was the melons and candied pistachios. I've had candied walnuts before, but never candied pistachios and they were delicious crunchy bits. The melons added a refreshing, and sweet flavor to the salad. The melon pieces were nearly clear in color, but it tastes like a sweet cantaloupe. I'm not sure what melon they used exactly, but it was delicious. The balsamic molasses vinaigrette paired well with the salad. Lastly, the Alaskan Halibut - I'm so glad we went for this entree. The Halibut was crispy on the outside, but still retained moisture on the inside. It's paired with a bed of coleslaw and it came with two sauce - sichuan kumquat puree and wild mushroom conserva. Both were excellent pairings and delicious. We were definitely full at this point, but because everything was so good so far, we were intrigued with what they had for dessert today. Quite a list, but we opted for Beignets and a Mango & Strawberry Sorbet (made in-house). The beignets came warm, coated with powdered sugar, and on top of a strawberry rhubarb jammy compote. The beignets were fluffy, light, and sweet! Absolutely delicious. But I would have to say that I liked the sorbet more. The sorbet was surprisingly really well made. Most of the sorbet has a really smooth texture. There were a bit of icy bits, but I still enjoyed those parts like a slushie. It also wasn't super sweet, but it was the perfect way to end a fantastic dinner. We were both blown away with our experience here!

An exceptional dining experience on Whidbey island from start to finish! We celebrated my birthday here and ordered quite a few things since it all sounded amazing. Standouts were definitely the oysters and halibut, but honestly everything was delicious and fresh. We also had our toddler in tow and while they didn't have a kids menu, they did make her some (very expensive) buttered noodles which we appreciated. Our server was very attentive, though I didn't particularly appreciate him asking me if I wanted a birthday dessert and then charging us for it. But, that was my only complaint! Everything else was wonderful and it was an adorable spot to celebrate in downtown Coupeville.

Amazing ambiance, immaculate food and incredible service. Would love to come back again soon! We got the chefs tasting menu and every single one of the five course was amazing. From beef carpaccio with cured yolk shavings, salmon croquette, crab meat pasta, mint sorbet for palette refresh then scallop and hallibut and assorted dessert of stone fruit creme brulee, rhubarb cheesecake and melon sorbet. Wow. We also got seated at the best possible seat ever at the corner of the patio facing the entire unobstructed water view, it was absolutely gorgeous. The drinks were also fantastic and i loved the presentation of each every one of them, especially Ok Perfect with its lil unicorn straw buddy. All to say, id come back to Whidbey Island just for oystercatcher any day for its creative, innovative, genuinely curated experience

This is the second year we have celebrated my birthday at the oystercatcher. Last year we were blown away by the experience, the food and portions. We still think about the lemon pasta and mussels from last year's chef menu! This year was a different experience, the service was still wonderful and the flavor profiles of each dish was phenomenal. However, I was a little disappointed that the chef menu moved from a sharing experience to individual dishes (some shared) and the portions were significantly smaller. However we were so impressed with the flavor but we're not sure if we'll do the chef experience again based on portion size and cost.
