My husband and I were out in Ewa Beach area and decided to try something new, and we were so happy we did! This restaurant is small and tucked in a little shopping center with other well-known restaurants around, but I promise you, you have to give this place a try! Upon walking in, the menu is on the wall. After you order, you can get a cup of water and find a seat (seating is very limited, with only a few tables). The girl who took our order was so sweet and explained that it might be about a 10-minute wait because the food is made to order. My husband and I ordered the mandu ramyun, the mixed cold noodles, the pork kimbap, and the mango bingsu, and everything was AMAZING! I've had a lot of Korean food growing up with many Korean friends, and my husband has been to Korea many times, so we've had our fair share. The minute my husband took a bite of his mixed cold noodles, his words were, " Oh fuck, that is so good. OMG." As we kept eating, the kimbap came out, and we took a bite, and our eyes grew so big because we knew it was freshly made, super fresh, and so crisp and delicious! Our order of favorites is the mixed noodles, the kimbap and the mandu ramyun. Our mango bingsu was made when we told them we were about finished with our meal. They brought it out, and it was a mountain of the lightest, creamiest shaved ice, piled with juicy mango. It was so good, and so refreshing after our meal. When you're done eating, there's a place to place your dirty dishes as well, and they come and wipe down the tables after. All in all, we are definitely coming back again, even if it's all the way in Ewa Beach! Before we left, my husband told me, "damn, that was so good, we need to bring people here when they visit us." LOL I've never heard him rave about a place as much as he did about this one, so I know it's a place we will revisit!
I don't frequent the Ewa beach area much but I happened to be stationed out there for the day. I was craving some Korean food and hopped onto yelp to find someplace. I came across this restaurant and I'm so glad I did! The food was fantastic. My partner ordered the kimchi fried rice and I had the meat jun plate. The fried rice had the perfect balance of savory and spicy. The meat jun was thick and had great flavor. So many places serve paper thin meat jun and it was so nice to have meat jun with some substance. The food took a little bit but it's totally worth the wait. The staff is very friendly and parking is plentiful. I highly recommend this spot. Aloha!
Other than the slightly rude cashier/order taker, this was a pleasant experience. The food was great. The seating is only 6 tables but seems bigger. I would recommend the Spicy pork plate and the Tteokbokki with ramyeon.
This restaurant is counter order and seat yourself style. A nice sized restaurant with tables spread out so it's not so much of a cluster. The cashier was super friendly and the food was great. Some of the things that we wanted to try wasn't available at the time so that was a bummer. But the food that we did get was great. I really like the kimchee soup. Tons of flavor. Meat jun was great too. You didn't even need the sauce. Can't wait to go back!
We didn't have a server, it's an order and seat yourself spot but our cashier was nice. Food was good, it was all of our first time there and we were all satisfied with the food we ordered. The meat jeon didn't need a sauce. They have a nice big table we sat at and they let us finish up some work there. We were a little sad the bingsu machine wasn't operating at the time we were there. I was excited to try. Overall it was a good experience and we would go there again!
The food here is soooo good! It is neatly packed and appealing to the eyes as well. One of the best meat juns I have ever had on island. The staff is friendly and the store is very clean.
I went to the original Spoon - maybe two years ago. Now, they're Spoon Bunsik with a new menu. I don't even recall what I had. I walked in just as they opened, at 1100a, and ordered Bi Bim Bap for takeaway. I was given a wait time of 10 minutes. Well, they received a few phone orders subsequently...so I was lucky...but it took almost twenty minutes to get my meal. Bi Bim Bap is a bellwether menu item for any Korean restaurant and it mostly delivered. The taste was fine , though more sesame oil would have made it even better, but the beef portion was small. Gochujang sauce was okay. Open from 11a till 8p Monday thru Saturday. A few storefront stalls for parking - but there is the adjacent strip mall and the Ewa Beach Shopping Cemter across the street.
Decided to try Spoon Bunsik, a Korean restaurant in Ewa Beach, recommended by friends. The restaurant is small and clean. Walk up to order and pay from the menu on the wall. There are also samples of small bites in the covered glass case by the cash register. I started with the stone pot rice/bulgogi vegetable entree. It comes with 3 sides of spicy takuan, Kim chee, and chop chae. We also tried the cheesy tteobokki (spelling?), which was delicious! We also tried the spicy Kim chee deep fried musubi. Ono! The dessert was bingsu, which is a variation of shaved ice, but finer, lighter, and not overly sweet. We tried strawberry and oreo cookie. The strawberry was more on the tart side, while the oreo cookie was a little sweeter. If you want a sweeter bingsu, you can request condensed milk to add to your dessert... Overall, a great dining experience, friendly and quick service, and delicious food! Try it!

Came on a Saturday and it seemed to be a sleepy day after July 4th as the restaurant was empty. Our win! They are on a limited menu for some reason so that was a bummer. I really wanted to try their black bean noodles on site. With that said, we didn't go away unhappy. After getting the banchan and some fried goodies as appetizers our two mains came out. We got the Tteokbokki with Udon and Bulgogi plate which came with some Ono Japchae. We were not disappointed. This may be my new favorite bulgogi place and my wife loved her spicy rice cake and udon. Ono! We're going to be back and hopefully will get my black bean fix. Love this place!!
I was happy to find out that Spoon re-opened and reinvented their menu. Parking is limited in front of the store front, but I came for dinner twice and had no issues parking. There was no line for the two occasions I visited. The restaurant only has a few tables so it can get busy, but thankfully I never had any issues. You order at the counter and they let you pick where you want to sit. The service was fast and easy. The food was delicious and I think for the amount the prices are fair. I'd definitely go back again. Especially because its hard to find authentic Korean food like this on the west side.
Happy New Year 2025, new year & new restaurants to try, we happen to be at Ewa Beach on a recent 1st Saturday of the year and had Spoon Bunsik on my bookmarks after seeing an Instagram post. Nice, clean, I believe they were closed for renovations and opened back up again with new business name and new concept, menu. There were a few tables to utilize for dining in, you place your order at the front and staff will bring the food to you, no wait service. A little bit confused with that and the menu, my first impression. There are an assortment of Korean deep fried items ( Korean street foods): shrimp tempura, seaweed roll, vegetable tempura, man doo, sweet potato, croquette, cheese rice ball, & sweet & spicy popcorn chicken. Prices varies for the fried items which starts at .85-3.50 per order, the sweet potato comes in 2 piece for $1.75 and chicken comes in 2 size, small (9.95) and large (15.95) Although I wanted to try the different types of Ramyeon they have ( Shin, tuna, beef, kim chee, cheese, man doo, seafood, military, crab,) which I know I can cook my own at home but I was in the mood for Korean ramen noods but ended up getting the make a combo Tteokbokki and one of the lunchplate. The Tteokbokki comes in 2 sizes, small & large. Small comes with 2 pieces of deep fried and one can drink for 10.95 and large comes with 4 pieces and 2 can drink for $16.95. Plate comes with main, rice + Jap Chae, Fyi-sadly there are no combo plates available per cashier, I wanted a fish jun & meat jun plate. My order for this visit: Fish Jun plate and small order of Tteokbokki, ( to add cheese is additional $2.50) with my choice of seaweed roll and vegetable tempura, order of potato tempura. & our opinion of the food, pretty good! I kept seeing random instagram vids of Tteokbokki, I've tried it once and am not a fan, since it is so chewy but I enjoyed it this time, the fish jun passed by the hubby. II like the batter on the fish jun! After taking a bite of the seaweed roll, I went back to get 3 more pieces since it was so good! I enjoyed what we got. The ban chan we got per table is just mac salad & kim chee. I wish there were more ban chan selections. I like the water station at front of entrance, refreshing lemon water. Make room for desserts, they have a mango, strawberry, Oreo Bingsu available. I couldn't do dessert, I was already too stuff. All in all, services was ok, not the greatest and portion size is cute, its not a bang for your bucks kind of place but I am happy, I get to try this business out on west side. I got my Korean food fix in and am looking forward to visiting again.
So let me start off with the positives. The place is very clean and the staff is really friendly. I was very disappointed because the last time I was here the portion size was soo good! I understand inflation but just charge more and give me a normal size plate! 1 small scoop rice, no won bok Kim chee. Look at the older pictures, one scoop rice was ok when they gave soo much ban chan. They don't even offer combos anymore. It was my Dad's birthday and he wanted Kim chee. Won bok Kim chee is usually automatic. I didn't see it on the menu as a side order option. I assumed it would be ok but I was wrong. I like the quality of the main dish but please just charge more for what the plates used to be!

I never thought Spoon's would get better since I already really liked their food before their renovation and revamp of the menu.... until now. I am more in love with the food that they serve now and the way that there's both made-to-order food AND already made food. Since their renovation, I've dined in twice. I received the same great service and delicious food. I like that they have just enough seating and have a system where once you're done with your plates, you can place them in an area for staff to pick it up rather than leaving it at your table. It makes things more efficient and hopefully makes cleanup easier for staff. They also have a free water station! While it might seem small from the outside, they definitely make use of the space well and maximize how many customers can be inside at one time. Side note: I really like the fact that they play k-pop inside! The food: Rosé Tteokbokki ($16.95) - Perfect dish for two people to share. Comes with sliced sausages, bacon, 1 boiled egg, and the tteok (rice cake). If you've had rosé tteokbokki at other places on island, you may have the same thought that I had: it's surprisingly not spicy at all. The spice levels could be kicked up a little if they wanted to increase it but honestly? I'd still love their tteokbokki either way. Curry Cheese Rice Ball ($3.50) - Way better than expected and highly recommend anyone to try it. If you've ever had arancini, it's like a bigger version of it with an Asian twist. I'm not sure what sauce they use on top of it but it brings everything together to have a nice party in my mouth. The outer layer has a thin but crunchy feel to it which meshes well with the soft rice and gooey cheese insides. Strawberry Bingsu ($9.50) - I think this might be the only item I've tried so far that I was just slightly disappointed about. When they had Teaspoon a few years back inside Spoon's where they sold bingsu on the side, I really enjoyed that bingsu. However, this new bingsu could use more ice shavings since a lot of it currently consists of the strawberry liquid/jam(?) but not enough ice shavings to pair with it. But, that might just be my preference. It still tastes really good though!

Finding this place was actually a very happy accident. We were on our way to drop off mail somewhere in Ewa Beach and we missed a turn. We randomly saw this building and were curious what it was so we stopped by and they were opening in five minutes so we decided to stick around and that mail could wait. Best decision ever. I really enjoyed the bulgogi kimbap. That was delicious! It paired really nicely with our tteokbokki and vegetable croquettes. That was a wonderful shareable meal and I would love to come back again to try new food options. I love that our order came with two drinks and that we got to choose the fried options we wanted. We were able to choose four so we got two each of the croquettes. I highly recommend experiencing moments like these where you didn't expect to stop by, but you did, but you're glad that you did. Great hole in the wall mom and pop shop. My family was kraving traditional korean food and not the usual hawaiian plates and this place served it up properly. The bonchon was kimchi, bean sprouts, radish, and krab salad and was very good. We ordered several dishes all which hit the spot. Fish jeon: marinated fish and dipped in egg before being fried. Soft and slight crunchy edges served with a dipping sauce. First time having this and was not disappointed. 10/10 Kalbi: traditional marinated beef short ribs served over onions. Tender and tasty 10/10 Hot stone bibimbap: beef, veggies and rice served in a hot stone with gochujang sauce and the rice gets crispy. Very delicious 10/10. Seafood tofu soup. Full of shrimp and octopus and a egg dropped in the middle while still boiling, quite flavorful. 10/10 Being a Korean from Los Angeles this place held its own and I will 100% be back next time I am in oahu. As long as you are ok with a no frills super casual restaurant this place will hit. read more
Spoon is one of those shops where you bring Korean people and they actually approve of the Korean food options. It's yummy, it's authentic, sure there are others that give you more or is cheaper, but this food is true to its origin, and tasty. K pop blasting, tons of noodles and deep fried options, all done tastefully well and not overly salty or oily. Deep fried cheese balls were amazing. Cold noodles were devoured, bibimbap was great, ban chan were yummy and the couple sitting next to us having a bingsu looked like they approve. All one sized meals, fresh lemony water for patrons, I will visit again and try something new. Younger staff members were kind and informative about the food options. read more

We learned our lesson from our last visit here, so my husband called ahead to place our orders, and they were ready for pickup in just 10-15 minutes. I got the Meat Jun and Fish Jun combo, while my husband had the Bibimbap and Spicy Pork combo. The portions were generous, and the prices were just right. It's not cheap but you get a good food for the right price. And yes, the food is absolutely delicious! I particularly love all the banchan (side dishes) they offer, though I'm not really a fan of the pickled onion. This is definitely a better experience from our last visit. I really enjoyed everything we ordered and I am very satisfied! Highly recommend! read more

Went here after work one day and ordered their meat chun plate. It was yummy! It came with kimchee, bean sprouts, jap chae, and rice. Portion was pretty generous! They also have other yummy Korean dishes and even ttekbokki and Kim chee ramen stew. read more

My absolute fav Korean spot. The usual faves are rose rice cakes, curry cheese rice ball, bulgogi fried rice, sweet potato and fried seaweed rolls. Everything is just so fresh and flavorful! read more

Located in Ewa Beach, first time trying this place. The distance was worth the visit. Friend talked highly about the food; especially, the Tteokbokki. He raved how he mixes the leftover sauce with noodles. He did the ordering which included Black Bean Noodles, Tleokbokki with Cheese, and Bulgogi. I must say the food was a little different than what I'm used to but definitely enjoyed the flavors. I ordered a side Meat Jun, Tteokbokki and Japchae to go. Meat Jun was even different. I liked how the egg batter stuck to the meat firmly. Ones I've eaten the egg comes off. The sauce for the Tteokbokki was just right - not too spicy. Japchae could use more veggies but for the price and amount it was well worth it. Overall, price was about right and portions were fairly generous. The atmosphere was roomy, well-lit and clean. Service was also good - patient and informative with my questions. I'd definitely would want to return. It was a nice change of pace. The 3 of us shared the Strawberry Bingsu dessert. Ordered food as we sat in traffic (just passed Aiea pedestrian bridge). Ordered Kalbi Soup, Stir fried squid, jajjang, and cheese balls. Was told it would take 20-25 minutes which was perfect timing due to the traffic. Got there and food was ready. Also Picked up a 1lb container of their house kimchi. Kalbi soup was homey and full of meat. Black bean noodles I thought would be soggy because they put the sauce on the noodles but they weren't. Perfectly chewy. Stir fried squid could have been spicier but all in all tasted great. Last but not least, can't go wrong with the cheese balls perfectly fried, cheesy goodness. A bit pricey for the servings but all in all everything tasted great. read more

Food was delicious, went for the first time. Ordered and food came out fast. Very tasty and unique! Servers were very outgoing and seating is really nice inside. Restaurant is spacious and has lots of parking! Definitely coming back to try more! read more

The Cheesy Teboki was surprisingly Amazing . We had tried Teboki couple places before and this one Tops it all. The Beef Ramenyeon was super delicious my husband really loved it . And he also ate all my Teboki . And Lastly the Fish Jun was good. We will be back agin . read more

A great little restaurant off the beaten path in Ewa Beach. I got the fish jun and it was very tasty. Was it the best I ever tasted? No, but still very good and worth the drive there. For dessert, ordered the strawberry binsu. The ice was ultra fine but the strawberry sauce was ok. The staff was friendly and was great in answering my questions. read more

Cute little hole in the wall eatery. My son recommended taking us here and we are very impressed. Everything was delicious, I didn't post pictures of my mandoo and banchan, but this was all the foods we got and it did not disappoint! I have to remember not to try and order everything on the menu. Parking: lots of stalls in front for pick up and go Service: local friendly place, take out order was stated to be a 20 minute wait. It turned out to be less 15 minutes. Ambiance: clean and convenient for great lunch/dinner take out. If you're on the West side, Highly recommend giving this place a try. This can easily become your regular plate lunch spot. May 25 Friday: Ordered the lunch meat jun plate and seafood pancake. Seafood pancake was too thick. Wish they had added chives to make it taste better. Meat jun: was bland. I could tell it was not freshly cooked and it was already precooked and they just heated it up. Staff were nice. Ambiance , small restaurant with few tables. Happy Eats! read more

A cute place with very kind service! They serve all their food in a to-go box and even pack some banchan (side dish) for you!! Highly recommend ordering ahead and picking it up when they give you a call that the food is ready. We got some Tteok-bokki, Bibim cold mix noodles, and seafood pancake. Our favorite was the bibim cold mix noodles. Tteok-bokki was tasty, but it was sweeter than I expected. The seafood pancake had a good amount of squid, but I wish it were more thin and crispy. Overall I really liked their food! I'd definitely come back to try their soups! read more

Food was 100/10 Service 5/10 Ambiance 8/10 The food and prices were very very good. The cashier could have been more friendlier. They were low on fried appetizers but they were super busy. Chairs are uncomfortable and the sun hits the inside straight on so I'd suggest take out. The worker who brought the food to our table and cleaned up was super friendly. read more

Do not sleep on this place! I wanted something spicy because I was feeling under the weather and I was really craving something different. I found Spoon and after looking at their menu I decided to place an order online for pickup. It's a very small establishment but they definitely produce amazing food. I got the seafood udon, spicy of course, and the Spicy Rice Cake (Tteokbokki). Both had phenomenal spice and flavor. I was left sweating and it definitely cleared out my sinuses. The flavor was really good and the portions were huge. I'd definitely come back and try everything else! The prices were reasonable as well. read more

Yes! I didnt see any tables to sit-down either so not sure how that will change post covid
Did they open up the grills again? Last time I went they didn't offer it, bec the fire dept required them to install fire sprinklers.
Sorry last time I went the grills were still not in use.

No, there was a netflix move filming event at Spoon. They changed the sign board as a mini mart for shooting. Now everything back to normal.
