The fire pit in the middle of the restaurant and the fireplace in the porch-like portion are a vibe. I had the hummus trio, which had some really innovative and delicious flavors (a black bean option, a chipotle option, and some sort of balsamic thing I can't remember the name of but was my favorite). The pita bread they served it with was tasty. Everything else in our group looked delicious, too. They had been here several time and they love it. I'm not out this way very often (or ever), but if I were I would definitely come back.

The menu truly has a little bit of everything, and somehow they manage to hit the mark across the board. One of my personal favorites to start the night is the wedge salad, it never disappoints. They also have a great steak selection and a surprisingly impressive wine cellar that deserves more attention. The atmosphere is what really sets this place apart. The indoor wood-burning fire pits create an amazing aroma throughout the restaurant, along with the relaxing crackle of the fire in the background. Visiting during the Kentucky Derby only made the experience even better and added to the energy and fun.

On my…read morevisit here, I had the opportunity to try two dishes off the shareables menu and was super impressed with both of them. Service was also quick and friendly throughout the entire meal. The Birria egg rolls were a bit on the smaller side but made a big impression with its preparation. I've never had birria wrapped in anything as crispy as the wonton wrapper this was wrapped in. The birria was flavorful while being tender and not being too salty. The white cheddar and chihuahua cheese added a small amount of extra saltiness and a bit more fat, which matched well with the chipotle aiola. The duck poutine was incredibly flavorful, while sitting on the edge of potentially being too bold. The fries were incredibly crispy though there was quite a bit of gravy on the dish and the white cheddar cheese curds did a great job of keeping the entire dish hot throughout the meal, while adding a little bit of extra flavor. The bacon and onion added some umami though it almost made the dish a bit too salty and the duck confit added a nice protein element. Overall a little pricey, but given the more unique menu and quality of both the flavors and textures, it's worth the premium. The food here is definitely memorable and in line with excellent options available in Geneva.

Our server was Val who was so delightful and engaging. We started with a delightful walleye ceviche on a blue corn chip for the amuse bouche. Perfect bite. The four of us shared the steamed Prince Edward Island mussels and the artisan charcuterie board as starters. The muscles were a generous portion and the broth was so flavorful. I always love Atwater's charcuterie board. It's has a generous portion of Humboldt Fog cheese, which is one of my favorite cheeses. For dinner, I opted for the roasted butternut bisque and caramelized apple & kale salad. The bisque was smooth and silky and the salad bright, crisp and fresh. Hubby had the blackened swordfish and loved it. My friends had the pork and lamb chop entrées. They really enjoyed their food. I've had the lamb chops before and they're excellent. The food at Atwater's is full of flavor, beautifully presented and delicious. Our server Val surprised us with a little taste of olive oil ice cream for a sweet treat to end the meal. I was so happy that my friends loved this restaurant as much as we do. If you haven't dined at Atwater's, you're missing out on a tasty hidden gem. You'll find the restaurant overlooking the Fox River in The Herrington Hotel.

The restaurant was very easy to find, situated in a strip mall with plenty of parking available. Inside, the space is divided between a bar and a restaurant. The bar features a few gambling slot machines, and there's outdoor seating if you prefer to eat outside. The menu offers a wide variety of selections. For my lunch, I ordered onion rings and tried the Philly steak sandwich with a side of fries. The onion rings were very good--crispy and hot. The sandwich came with a cup of soup. I chose the Cream of Broccoli. The soup was delicious... even my daughter loved it. My lunch did take a while to arrive, but when it did, the Philly steak sandwich was pretty good. The fries had a slight batter, which I love. The sandwich itself was loaded with meat and veggies, but the bread fell apart, making it a little difficult to eat. Despite the long wait after our onion rings (and being full from it), I did finish my lunch. Overall, the food was decent, although the wait was a bit longer than expected. However, the service and staff were amazing and very friendly. With that said, I would consider returning here in the future.

We started with the soft pretzel sticks, which came with house beer cheese and spicy mustard (and it was quite spicy!) For entrees, I got the smoked pork shoulder sandwich, with sweet and tangy mustard, pepper jack cheese, and pickled red onion. It was delicious, very filling, and the play of the mustard and red onion flavors against the pork were exciting. The roll needed to be sturdier, though. And lest I forget, the homemade tater tots! They look like chunky croutons, but the crunchy exterior hides a soft potato-y goodness inside. He got the "God Told Me To" burger, which included cinnamon apple chutney and yuzu aioli on a pretzel bun, which he said as really good but messy. This is apparently one of those places who various wait staff keep checking on you interchangably, so it can be a bit hard to know who to ask for things (I guess anyone?) but nothing got left out and we were not ignored. Overall, great food with a laid-back vibe. Would recommend and return.
