Such a nice place to stop over before crossing over to the MI harbors. Kevin and his family at Kaps Marina are friendly and welcoming. The restaurant has great food. Faculty are clean. So nice to have the Kaps crew remember us and welcome us so kindly. Always willing to help. read more

I was frankly astonished at the excellent service we received from the time we called to reserve a slip until we left after a great breakfast at the restaurant. Kevin (manager) and Betsy (I think that is her name) met us at the slip, guided us in and had an electrical adapter for us in anticipation of our 30amp needs. We got a card with Kevin's cell number and were encouraged to call if we needed anything at all! I met an older gentleman who offered advice on places to visit and got a map for me to peruse. If this was the guy people have complained about, I think he is a happier guy at present. Car rentals were arranged quickly and with a fair price. I really liked Kevin and Betsy. The food at the restaurant was great (breakfast). While I didn't partake of the prime rib the evening we stayed, it smelled heavenly. Like I said, I was astonished at the welcome and the service. read more

Bathrooms were clean, grounds were unkept, did not go in the restaurant. Kind assistant helped with a $4 bag of ice. Old guy in a 4 wheeler was bent that we were there, certainly not welcoming. Having spent time at many marinas on Lake Michigan, Lake Huron, the Mississippi River, this would be a last resort type of place. read more

Stopped in on a Friday, everyone was friendly and food was decent. Stopped in on Sunday with the Jetskis and an old guy came out yelling at us telling us that we can't dock where we were because it was a private dock and people were coming back from fishing soon even though it was very obvious the way the docks were laid out no boat could fit there without blocking 3-4 other boats from leaving. Let alone that we were there on Friday and we were welcome to tie off to that dock. We were just trying scout the island out for future visits and I have to tell you, I will not and would not recommend staying or going here u less you want to feel like a criminal! What a joke! read more

Hospitality is not this marina's business. Our two boats we traveled with arrived four hours early before we came in on engine trouble. We were greeted by an old guy flying up to us in an ATV with door open yelling that we needed to check in and we needed to be out of our slip at 11. Nice greeting after 12 somewhat stressful hours on the water. Docks are rickety, yard is unkept. There is a better choice in this harbor. read more

Great place for breakfast and pastries. I usually eat the fisherman's breakfast with Norwegian Pancakes, bacon, eggs and homemade toast. Yum. read more

I wanted to contact your island to let you know that my husband and I wanted so very badly to spend sometime on the island on August 11th, 2015. We had spent a week on our boat and planned to come for an evening hoping to see the sights, eat and enjoy some of the activities available. Not ever having been here we had to check out where we could dock our boat and stay for the night. When we arrived we went to Kaps Marina and a man came barreling out to the docks on a ATV type vehicle yelling at us if we needed gas. I said twice no we wanted to dock. He threw up his arms and came barreling to the other side of the marina. When we approached closer my husband asked if we could stay for the night and how much the rate was.?He stated no one has asked him that and his rates have not changed in 10 years. I than said we have not been here so we would need some information if we planned to stay. He said, " would you go to a motel and ask how much they charge", I said yes of course could be $50 or $500. I am pretty sure that people ask that question 100% of the time before staying somewhere to see if they can afford it or plan their budget. This was such an awful welcome to your island. We promptly left and my husband was so disappointed we headed back to Fish Creek. I doubt we would ever attempt to come again and wanted you to know why. We learned years ago not to go there. We've been coming to the island for over 20 years. Old guy was most likely the owner and should not be in the hospitality business. Surprised Friday was a good experience. read more
