This was our first time visiting the Shoreline and it was a nice place with a great view. The menu isn't huge but they have a lot of variety and some local fish. It's a very small place but you can't beat the view. We started with the Whitefish cakes which are source from local whitefish and a local fish company. They had great taste and were very crispy. I had the fish of the day which was grouper and I chose to have it blackened and it was served over a creamed corn grits, very interesting. My wife had the Sushi bowl which was very good but the tuna was a bit too over-cooked. All in all it was a good experience food wise but when I made the reservations on-line I could only choose between 5:00 or 7:30 for availability. We were there at 5:00 and the dinning room was less than half full until we left at 6:00. read more

I was quite surprised at the low quality of the food. We had the steak bowl - it was terribly salty. The steak was good and so was the chinches but the quinoa blackened rice was meh. There were fried plantains and they sucked too. The corn and black beans had a weird flavor. My family also got the aged ribeye with bourbon sauce and grits - the sauce was meh. The knives were dull We couldn't cut the beef. We had flies buzzing around our table. That part was miserable. Our waiter was fantastic. However, the bus boy was on his phone most of the time behind the counter and picked up our dishes - I asked him for a to go box and he basically tossed one to my son. I am not sure what we were supposed to experience. It wasn't fine dining that's for sure and for the price it should have been. It was at most an over-priced Red Lobster but it wasn't even that good. Maybe it's just a tourist trap. The appetizer was good but the crudities were greasy. I'd avoid it. The young hostess was very empathetic and apologetic. The middle-aged women was very direct and not at all empathetic. We were offered dinner at the bar. Very disappointing as this was our splurge dinner for our vacation. It was THEIR error and efforts should have been made to seat us. Door County was always our happy place when we lived in Green Bay and when we visit, we always try to make the drive. Unfortunately so did many other people on a nice summer Friday. To escape the crowds we drove all the way to Gills Rock to have lunch. We weren't able to get a seat on the patio but did get the last view table inside. I think of the Shoreline as "old school" Door County - not pretentious with a more traditional menu. The decor is a bit dated and the carpet worn but it was cozy inside. The only vegetarian options were two salads. I chose the DC Cherry. It was a very generous sized salad with crisp fresh greens, plump dried Door County cherries, chèvre, praline nuts, onion slivers, and a few fresh tomatoes on the side dressed with champagne cherry vinaigrette. I savored every last bite. Hubby had the GR melt with smoked whitefish, bacon, harvarti, and mayo. It was ok and filling, a bit greasy but as he says, it met his Wisconsin standards! We had planned to go on Wednesday for oysters, unfortunately they were out of oysters for the season. We felt this was odd since oysters are in season during the "R" months. The place is really in need of an update, worn carpet the entrance was sad. The view is beautiful outside but inside hard to enjoy with dirty windows. I have been going to Door County for 30 years and have now found a go to restaurant for great food and watching a sunset. The Wisconsin old fashion was perfect to sip on the deck and enjoy cheese curds while waiting for our table. My wife had a salad and enjoyed how fresh it was and not typical iceberg but a variety of fresh lettuce tomato and onions. We both had the wild mushroom Bucatini . It was marvelous with a creamy white wine garlic and cheese sauce with all the mushrooms. The service was fast and polite which considering the number of customers was remarkable. The setting is on the shore of Lake Michigan with windows that provide an unobstructed view. After dinner you can sit on the patio and enjoy the sunset or maybe pull out your pole and fish off the pier. I will be returning. Whitefish Chowder was great to read more

Up to Door County for a quick weekend getaway from Chicago. We were recommended this place along our journey around the peninsula. I'm very glad that we took it and went! The food is great but the view is unparalleled in the area! We checked in and the wait list was a little over an hour BUT we ordered some appetizers and drinks and went outside to see the bay. It felt Ike 5 minutes before they came and got us even though it was closer to 90 minutes. The view and scenery were phenomenal! We had the cheese curds and whitefish dip as our appetizers. The cheese curds were good but the whitefish dip was AMAZING! I haven't had a better dip ever. Once we were seated, we ordered. I got the whitefish on the rock and it was almost as amazing as the dip! Very few times I scrape the plate but this was one of them. The S/O got an off menu daily special of shrimp scampi Rockefeller. I don't think I've ever seen her enjoy a dish so much! It was so good! After dinner, it was time for sunset over the bay. A great little spot near the top of Door County. We were staying in Baileys Harbor and rode to Gills and points along the way enjoying the fall colors. We came along this restaurant and what a nice find. We had a small puppy with us so had to order drinks and an appetizer from the bar and enjoy outside. The service and drinks (margarita and vintage olf fashion) were great. We each had a bowl of smoked fish chowder. Very tasty. This place was a trip highlight! The people here are absolutely incredible...so welcoming and genuinely friendly. The outdoor area is beautiful...love the yard seating at sunset! The service is fantastic and the menu delivers with whatever you order I think! I would also like to note they are truly dedicated to keeping everyone comfortable and distant during the health crisis. They provided OFF at every table spaced out and with only outdoor seating available even the armadock chairs were distant. They truly put their hearts into this restaurant and the customers! Food was absolutely delicious!! Service great, beautiful spot for sunset and they had a diverse menu. I had the pan fried walleye special and it was wonderful...the crab cakes were also the best we have had. We wanted lunch with a view on a cloudy day, so we stopped in and grabbed a couple of seats at the bar. We got a couple of glasses of wine from their good selection of wines and ordered our food. I got the Jamaican Whitefish sandwich, which was a bit of a thin cut of fish, but was very tasty and had a wonderful sauce to accompany it. It came with fries that were hot and tasty. My wife got a side salad, which was a nice mix of vegetables that were fresh and flavorful. She also got one of the soups of the day - Chicken and Wild Rice soup, which was recommended by our server/bartender. It was definitely the hit of the meal - it had lots of chicken and a fantastic flavor. It was available in a cup, bowl, or crock. A few other people around us also had it and everyone was raving about it. Service was pretty good - the bartender was reasonably busy with drink orders and those of us at the bar eating. The views here are great and some people wait until a water view table comes open, but most of the seats have a decent view of the lake. read more

We arrived at Shoreline to escape the crowds in Sister Bay during Covid. What great fortune!! We ordered our meal at the bar then it was delivered to us at an outdoor table. Many people were eating inside but we weren't comfortable with that. My husband enjoyed his perch and my whitefish Roma was terrific! Both plates came with delicious veggie medley and fruit and we both chose wild rice. I had the best margarita of my life but I will say it was expensive. ($12.) The bartender was super friendly and wore a mask, as did all staff but not all customers. Sitting outside in an Adirondack chair to watch their terrific sunset was so lovely. I might be in the minority, but my husband and I loved the upgraded food at Shoreline. It is more pricey than before, but not by much. The quality is even better than before. I got the brown butter chicken and didn't even feel deprived by not getting a steak. My husband got some type of seafood soup and loved it. The view from this restaurant is fantastic, and provides a near panoramic view of the Northern tip of the Door County Peninsula. There were plenty of fish items on the menu, and I enjoyed a fish and chips special made with Walleye.
