I probably would rate 4-5 stars if I hadn't been to other karaoke bars in the area and known that I can do better elsewhere. Seemed way overpriced per person for karaoke alone, and on top of that there was a minimum food/beverage purchase (tip: go to a BYOB place so you can avoid excessive charges like this). Song system was difficult to use and song selection disorganized... we had to spend our first half hour figuring out how to use it with staff help. Save money, try someplace else in K-town. I will say though, that the rooms are really nice, and have some sort of intelligent lighting. The sound is really good. The selection of english songs is deplorable. Karaoke WOW ... it is definitely a WOW. It is located at K-Town in Manhattan, and you have to take an elevator upstairs (better than stairs) to get into the actual place. As you get out of the elevator, the first thing you see is the bar area, which is a great subliminal concept because it makes you want to drink right away, or at least think of getting drinks. The ambiance is cool and they play nice house music, so it's a double whammy in awesomeness! So you get greeted by this guy who will escort you to a room and then you do your Karaoke thing for 1 hour; he comes in at the closing of every hour to see if you'll want to extend another hour. That Saturday, it was about $70/hour so it wasn't that bad at all...but it doesn't include drinks. We drank tons, and I mean tons, of Yakult soju - I could have drank the whole thing but I was pacing myself between the gang haha! The lists of songs are amazing, they have oldies to new hip ones! Overall, I had a great experience at Karaoke WOW. It might have been an expensive night-out, but can't put a price hanging out with great company! read more

One of my favorite activities whenever I'm in k-town and this is def the best spot to karaoke in k town. The service is always amazing even on busy nights! The employee checks in here and there to see if you need anything, but not enough times to interrupt your sessions. Just no. K-town has a plethora of karaoke spots and this has to be the worst. The prices are insane. They do not allow BYOB and the song selection is weak and out of date. Rooms were sticky and the couches were stained. Apparently this joint also operates as a little more then just a karaoke spot as some of my friends who accidentally opened the door to a different room observed some sort of strange orgy. Drinks were not only very expensive, but also very watered down. Music is out dated. Wait staff was incredibly rude and inattentive. But here's the worst part. When the bill came out, the waiter claimed that all of our cards weren't working and insisted on using this one girl's card. This girl was very drunk, and barely coherent and was coerced into giving up her card. The waiter then charged it, signed the receipt "for her", and gave himself a near 100% tip. WOW! I have been to a LOT of karaoke places in the city and this place was the BEST one I have ever seen. room: The room was clean and even had windows overlooking the city. There were comfy couches and a funky table in the middle. All of the machinery and screens (3 screens!) were top notch and they had a huge variety of songs. The lighting is super exciting and made it super fun to sing with friends. The two mics were high quality. staff: When we had extra folks arrive they gave us extra stools to accommodate; we didn't even have to ask. They taught us how to use the equipment and even helped us look up some Japanese pop songs we were looking for. price: The price was totally reasonable - $8/hr up to 10 people and then only $5/hr. We wanted to stay an extra half hour and they only charged us for that extra half hour. Also some folks only came for the last hour and they only charged us for those folks being there for that time. We had 10-15 people the whole time so it really worked out for us. If your group is only 4-5 people, don't go here - go to a place with smaller rooms. For us it was the perfect size and a totally reasonable price. bar/food: They came in about 3-4 times for drink orders. They were sweet and not at all pushy. Beer was expensive but isn't it everywhere in NYC? You will love this place! read more

While you get yourself situated, you grab the mic to sing, there will be a never ending loop of National Geographic animal video playing. This loop will get boring fast since it is not "planet earth" quality. I would expect this from 2006, since that's the era this karaoke joint seems to be stuck in. ***CRIMINALS*** I didn't think it would happen to me. But it did. Just like Jessica J. below. These people are evil. Came here Friday night with a few of my friends. After two hours, I went to pay the bill with a credit card. As I was signing the receipt, one of the stupid employees demanded that I include gratuity of 15%. I was astounded by her demand. I flat out refused. What am I paying a tip for? What service? Did you sing for us? Did you dance? What exactly? I said no. I signed the receipt and left. One month later, I received my credit card statement and noticed that the charge from this crooked establishment was a bit more than I remembered. Luckily I always keep my receipts. I checked the receipt and noticed that this damn place charged me $15 more than what was on the receipt!!!!! I called my credit card company and told them of the fraud. They are looking into it. In the meantime, they credited my account for $15. What's the lesson learned here? Always cross out the tip part of the receipt. I don't think I did that on the merchant copy. I wonder if my bank will obtain a copy of their receipt. If I am ever in the area again, I am going back to this place and deal with these DAMN CROOKS!!! Be careful yelpers. Oh Karaoke Wow. Yes, your English (and Japanese and Chinese) selection is not particularly good. Yes, your music video selection is the most limited that I have ever seen and I ended up watching scenes of people dying from assorted Korean dramas all night. Yes, I ended up spending a crapload of money. But I had an awesome time, due to: 1) really, nice and modern clean facility 2) good sound system 2) courteous and attentive staff 3) trippy lights and most importantly... 4) a tambourine that lights up as you hit it!!! Awesome!!! Unlike, most of the other yelpers here, I don't actually think the prices for the room itself are much more expensive than any other karaoke place in the city. We had 12 people in the room, and it ended up being around 10 dollars per person per hour, which is about 1.50 more than a lot of places charge on weekends. So, a little pricier, but nothing out of control. It might be a worse deal if you have less people, not really sure. Unfortunately, our bill ended up being astronomically high because we are alcoholics and that sh*t adds up. For realz. read more

My friends and I visited here on Saturday night in February but we couldn't get a room; there was a hour and half wait. Luckily, we were able to get a room last Saturday for a friend's birthday. We got two hours at first. They were nice enough to give us extra complimentary 1.5 hours and a bottle of champagne for the birthday girl! What a surprise! That was very nice of them! There were three staffs and one of them with glasses was really nice and attentive. He made sure we had everything we needed and again gave us extra 10 minutes even after we paid the bill. Plus, he remember us back from February! There were many song options in both English and Korean. The room is clean and well maintained. We had an awesome time! We will definitely go back! Nice clean karaoke place but why the 2 stars ? Their music selection is very old and limited. It doesn't have a lot of the songs that I wanted to sing. Also, it's freaken expensive. $40/hr for 4 people is kind of overpriced for karaoke. They're very rude as well, my friend went out to order a small sake bottle and the guy kept saying it only pours 4 shots... Who cares??? It's up to us what we want to order, and it poured 8 shots btw!! When we went out to pay, the girl literally tapped on the receipt and said "tips are not included" so my friend gave her $3 and she was like ummm tip should be $12. Wtf ??? What did you do for us??? NOTHING. why is tip MANDATORY??? Idk if that's a rule in NYC but where I'm from we don't need to tip for karaoke... And no one taps on the bill and says that!!!! Ugh. This was such a great little place to do karaoke! We celebrated a friends birthday for about an hour. It was 7 of us so it was pretty hectic but we all took turns in singing and rapping songs! They have a wide selection of kpop songs and korean ballads as well as english songs current and throwbacks! Literally the worst. I think they are fine when it's a weeknight and they're not as busy, but the way their staff handles the business during busy hours is absolutely atrocious. My friend called them and made a reservation very clearly for tonight. When we arrived at Karaoke Wow though, the woman at the front desk said that our reservation had been cancelled and that the room we reserved was already booked. She said that they had called my friend after she had already made a reservation to "confirm" but since my friend didn't pick up, they cancelled it - not even bothering with a voicemail. Funny thing is, my friend went through her phone history and didn't see any incoming call from them. Hmmmm.... The kicker is that even after the rude and terrible treatment with our reservation and the way the woman was trying to blatantly deny that they didn't call my friend, when we tried to make another reservation for later in the night, the woman suddenly said "oh we don't do reservations". Oh really? How convenient for you. The take-away: don't come here expecting your reservation to mean anything at all. Actually, don't even bother coming here. read more

What killed it for me was that you can't BYOB - they check bags and hold it for you up front. And their menu is ridiculously overpriced. I've been a customer at Wow for a few years now. It's been my go-to and I've never particularly disliked the place but I didn't have any reason to go elsewhere. After my most recent experience though, I'll not be back. I brought my coworkers there after a happy hour event expecting a good time, however the staff was rude, cut our time short, overcharged us, and basically kicked us out. We were admittedly drunk, but not any rowdier than any other group they get on the weekends. The cherry on top is that they refuse to cooperate in returning a bag my coworker left behind which held some really important things. Really disappointing. Our group promptly moved to Chorus and had a BLAST. Or, I recommend my new favorite spot, Karaoke City. Both are great and I'm honestly glad I've upgraded from this place. read more
