I'll start with a good part the young lady who took my call when I booked for a first Lady package amazing I also called and upgraded my mom's package and added my sister! That part was amazing. They definitely do a great job with add-ons. Mind you not each package is 185, my sisters was 95 if paid in cash.... That's $465 spent, the young lady that checked all of us in was amazing once again that's why I'm giving two stars...... Now where it all goes down the drain is , from here, the most IMPORTANT part that is why we booked, to enjoy, spend quality time and catch up. my sister and my mom are from South San Diego so we were all looking to catch up, We were excited to get together and spend time together, but this is where it goes wrong. I went in for a facial to a separate room where I had an OK facial, the young lady was good, but I wanted to relax, and in the beginning she kept talking...... I don't care much for her moms free massage or who's playing the Super Bowl ‍ facial was a two out of five.... Second, I then get put in another room where it was not even communicated to me, What to do. The communication here is horrible. My mom agreed! So then I sit down for a 15 min foot detox which was never communicated to me, I was asking do I said do I lay... once again communication barrier horrible. I later than figured out this was the detox, After that, I was brought to my 60 minute body massage which was OK but day after today I am so sore. I did ask for no elbows since she most definitely used elbows...... my biggest concern here is that they have no communication!! I then was taken to the 15 minute sauna, which was probably my favorite part!!! we then headed out we paid. They did ask my mom if she enjoyed her massage. She said yes she tipped..... for me. No one asked if I enjoyed it. I was going to say a few of my concerns why we were not all put together. We wanted to enjoy our massages together. Booking said a women and it was a man. Very poor experience and very unprofessional. The door was left open during the massage so anyone walking by could see in and see me naked when turning over. There were stains on the sheets. Not sure if they get changed in between. I left drenched in oil. My tshirt that was in the basket somehow got oil squirted on it. The masseuse kept repeating the same movement over and over and over..to the point where I had to instruct him to do something different , only for him to go back to the same movement. It was honestly so bad, I was debating whether I should just stand up and leave 20 minutes in but it was too awkward, I just sucked it up and stayed the whole time..in retrospect, I shouldn't have wasted my time. 2 stars only because the facility was nicer than some of the other places I've been around here! read more

I booked a 60min hot stone massage and left with first and second degree burns unbeknownst to me. In hindsight, it's clear that the therapist knew and told the woman at the front desk due to the line of questioning when she was checking me out and repeating the therapists name 2-3 times (I've been here plenty of times for other massage services and never had a checkout interaction like this one). I didn't notice the burns until I got home and felt off about the weird checkout interaction, so I asked my husband to check the back of my legs. It was then clear to me that the front desk knew I'd likely be following up about my experience. During the massage, the therapist said "let me know if the stones are too hot" as she lined the back of my thighs and calves with stones (on top of the sheet, not directly on my skin). It felt warm, but fine. She proceeded to do deep tissue massage on my upper back while the stones sat on my legs for a period of time. I had one of those super gnarly knots in my right shoulder so full transparency, I was having to focus on breathing through that good kind of pain as she intensely worked through the knot in my shoulder. Again, the stones felt hot on my legs but nothing that I felt alarmed by. I tipped the therapist above 20% of my service. The part that I'm most frustrated by is that the front desk let me pay in full for my service. Ideally, in my opinion, she could have kindly alerted me to my skin having a redness or a reaction or whatever way she wanted to word it, and said your service is complimentary and sent me on my way. This massage was probably one of the worst I've ever had. The massage therapist massaged me over the sheet for most of it - kept aggressively yanking my limbs when she wanted me to move, but stayed in the same areas so long that it was painful and annoying. She also kept hitting my spine with her elbow and continued to aggressively rub my shoulder BONE even after telling her it was uncomfortable. I booked the massage where they walk on you, and she didn't do that a single time. I asked for firm pressure, and even despite politely asking her twice for firmer pressure during the massage, she was barely touching me and seemed to have no rhythm or cadence - it all felt sporadic and not remotely relaxing. The lights were on the entire time and when she flipped me over, she didn't even offer an eye covering. It was sloppy, amateur, and a waste of my time. I booked via class pass and I'm wondering if maybe they don't prefer that and that's why it was so disappointing? My therapist even walked on my back, which was surprisingly not painful at all! Kaema also has a peaceful atmosphere which helped get my mind in the right place before the massage. Upon arrival, we were told that "our therapists are Chinese and do not speak English" so they ask about specifics etc., none of which were honored. When you are in the room, there is no communicating that is understood at all. Additionally, as a woman I'm perfectly comfortable with a male therapist but too much focus high up on inner thigh and slight brushing of my lady parts. No thanks. This is a really nice spa. Like, REALLY nice! It's clean, modern, and very zen. The staff was great, friendly, and welcoming. We booked a 90-minute couples massage and WOW! My massage therapist was very thorough and it felt like time flew by in such a relaxed state. All that said, there was one thing that occurred that bumps my opinion down by a star. After my massage, my shoulder muscle was feeling sore. Upon closer inspection, I discovered I had a small bruise. I've never received a bruise after a massage before and I realize that it's up to me to communicate if I'm experiencing any pain during the massage. In fact, the massage therapist was mindful about applying the right amount of pressure and would ask me if I was okay throughout. I truly was fine during the massage... the pain occurred afterward. Everything was going good, check-in was easy and we were seen on time. I scheduled a couples Swedish massage with a foot detox. When it came to our Swedish massage, both massage therapists kept laughing, talking and having dialogue in a manner that seemed like they were making fun of us. It got to the point to where I had to get up and ask them why they were laughing. The male therapist quickly responded and said I apologize, I told them it was very unprofessional. At the end of the massage, he tried to give me a reason and told me that for my next visit they would add free CBD oil with my services. I quickly told them it was unnecessary because I wouldn't be returning. When it was time to pay they added additional services to the overall cost, which my boyfriend and I never received, I quickly had them removed them. I'm an esthetician and wanted to see how the technique in massage differs from the one I'm learning now and what I could incorporate in my own personal technique. I must say, they got my knots in my shoulders out, and I was extremely relaxed. I did prefer the technique at my work as I think it was a bit more thorough. Especially with hot stones. The hot stone massage I received just felt like I was being rubbed with hot stones and not actually massaged. My pedicurist uses hot stones more effectively. Also had to redirect her multiple times away from my legs even though I asked before my massage not to touch my legs. The front desk person, Stephanie, was kind and let me know that she was unable to do anything without speaking with the owners. My goal was to avoid a cancellation fee via ClassPass. I then spoke with an owner, Jessica, who was extremely unprofessional. She spoke at such a high volume and would not allow me to get a word in. Had I been able to, the feedback I would have relayed is that if Karma Spa chooses to do business via a third party, they need to ensure they communicate with end users about details like their preferences on male/female therapists in advance to ensure that the third party options work for everyone - the customer, the spa, and the therapists - alike. read more

We were a party of three, each with different services. So I can see how there was a bit of confusion on who was doing what with whom, and what time. But they seemed to have more confusion than necessary. I got a mini back facial and massage and enjoyed each one. Though I always question on the true amount of time we got. My friend had a massage and mini facial, but felt her masseuse wasn't very good - not enough pressure, too much pressure, didn't listen about certain requests. They put us in a two-person room and supposedly charged us the couple rate, but looking at the pricing...the couple rate is the same rate as two individuals. So no difference. I wish they didn't make it sound like they were giving us a deal. The facilities are clean, they had robes and sandals for us to use while we waited between services. There was a container that we could hold our belongings in. So no lockers or change rooms. It's fine if you have one service but if multiple, it can be awkward. Because you're back at the waiting room which is co-ed sitting in a robe. Nice place, nothing exceptional or grand.
