I just don't get it, I have come to Carol's several times and every time I have had Karo specifically do my hair and I have asked her to keep it long. Do not go past the lower edge of my shoulders. Now now that my hair has settled after I left the salon. It's cut all the way up to my neck. It's about 3 inches too short my hair is atrocious. I have an event to go to in less than two weeks and now I'm gonna have to go get extensions put in my hair to make my hair look normal. Don't ever freaking go here because she doesn't know what cutting long hair is. This is freaking ridiculous. Just don't do it if I could give it a zero I would. 00000 stars read more

Meeting Karo was a pleasant fate!! After having a bad experience at another hair salon earlier the day I came into her shop, we found Karos salon! It was fate that she was free for my cousin and I to have a haircut when I called. I'm so glad and very happy with Karo's customer service and master styling. It's been almost a year that I hadn't cut my hair and for some reason I just trusted her with a new look. Very layback nice and professional. Carolina is the owner stylist is like a magician. She changed me to at Least to ten years younger once she gave me the style she thought would look good on me. I could not believe my eyes. This place is affordable and central. Located off of Avocado shopping center. I am so happy to have found her. This Friday going to get highlights. I grew my natural hair out and wore it long past shoulder length for over a year and decided to cut it. I wasn't sure how short I wanted to go so I made an initial cut myself at home shown in the "Before" picture. I needed it shaped and blended so I went to Karo's Hair Salon. Caroline took her time to listen to the type of cut I wanted and reviewed all the pictures I brought with me. She answered all my questions about pricing and my concerns about the haircut. Now that's GREAT CUSTOMER SERVICE which is hard to find these days! She even scheduled me for the next day. The day of my appointment she was ready for me and very friendly. I brought more pictures of the tapered cut I wanted and decided to have it cut shorter then we discussed before. Caroline started cutting with shears/scissors taking off some while asking me if I liked the length before proceeding. Now that's incredible attention to detail! Nihad is a stylist at Karo's Hair Salon in the Rancho San Diego Village Mall off E94. She did such a good job with my son's (29) hair I decided to see her. I'm a 63 year old Irishman. My hair was extra long due to my stylist moving away. I showed her a picture collage of movie stars' hairdos and she came close to getting me that Not-Too-Short relaxed look. I was surprised since this was my first styling from her. Along the crown of my head on the sides my hair gets bulky and tends to bulge out. I need the under-layers thinned so I don't look like Son-Of-Bozo. My hair flips out if it's too short (no weight). The ends curl out if it's too long. I told her I wanted the hair to cover the ears but it was flipping out. At the end, Nihad went back in, cut out the flips, and took time to blend in the new length. Nihad gave me a great styling my very first visit. That never happens?! Great price too! read more

Permanent Makeup - Disappointment. I came in approximately 6 years ago and had my eyeliner done by Carolina the owner and was happy with the results, but it was very painful. I came back to have it touch up and this time it seemed even more painful. Turns out she tattooed the inside of my eye lid and not the outside, without asking. When mentioned that this was why I thought it was more painful, she sort of shrugged, then did the same thing on my return. I just thought "oh well tattoo eyeliner is pain full" that is until I went else where to get it touched up and fixed. At the new Salon, there was absolutely No Pain and done under my eye lashes as I had requested. I don't want to completely bash this place, the first time 6 years ago it was done to perfection, I was just really disappointed with the second try. read more

I can't believe I haven't yelped Karo's yet!!! I have to preface this review by saying I am probably one of the worst kind of clients. I ALWAYS wait until the last minute to get my hair done. Usually because whatever I need done takes about 2 hours or more. Cut, color, highlights, etc.... I can't stand to sit in a chair that long. So I wait and wait and wait until no respectable women would even leave the house in the condition my hair is in. So I wear a ponytail and suffer in silence until I make an appt. Well that is how I found Karo's! I needed to get my hair done and my usual stylist at the time was booked. So a friend recommended me to Karos' and she took me in last minute! I know she must have heard the desperation in my voice! I needed my hair done before an upcoming event and she made room for me the next day as a last client! That was awesome! My hair turned out perfect! I couldn't have been happier! So now, last minute, she fits me in without a word and with a smile on her face. She is also VERY affordable. It's a Win Win! Was heading to a chain haircut place in this strip mall because it was late and most other places were closed. Happened to drive by Karo's and saw that they were open still. I've been on this local business kick lately so I ditched the chain place. Called up the shop and the owner answered and said she could meet me there right away for a cut. Once I got inside I noticed it was a nice clean place. The owner Carolina showed up a few minutes later and the haircut began. I told her what I was looking for and I asked her how long she had been cutting hair. She said something like 15-20 years and I knew I was in the right place. My last cut was a bad job from super cuts. They have young people straight out of school probably because they're cheap. I guess the first woman said something to the lady who couldn't get her nose out of her phone because she then came outside after us. This is my first time at this salon. It's inside a plaza next to Smart & Final. I didn't call ahead, but they accept walk-ins. I have thick medium to long hair and needed an inch taken off. I noted on the door no appointment necessary, or something like that. I went in no one even greeted me. I finally asked about service and they were apparently all booked up, no apology or even a suggestion to make a later appointment....nothing. I was really pleased with the service here. I was able to get in last minute for a trim which is hard to do in many salons around here. I believe it was Karo/Caro (sp?) who cut my hair. I have 2 major cowlicks, and I have a pixie cut. Anyone with cowlicks and a pixie knows that it can be challenging to make it work, but she did a fantastic job. My only complaint was that the back was a bit long and had a bit of a mullet feel, but that's my fault for not communicating better. The prices were reasonable too. If I could rate this no stars I would, I wanted to bleach my fringes, my mother was getting her hair colored at the time, and told me to come over because I could be squeezed in. I was like okay. I got my bangs bleached by Carolina, which I just found out is the owner. Honestly the worst mistake I made. She put bleach on my forehead and it was burning my scalp. When I told her it was burning she said its suppose to! My current hair dresser and friends that are in cosmetology school, said its not suppose to burn and it shouldn't be put directly on your skin, which Carolina did! It felt like I was growing blisters on the area she applied bleach. Then my hair came out all fried up and ORANGE. I mentioned that the tone was too coppery, she said that it's fine for my skin tone(which it wasn't). Definitely not go back. That was the worst experience ever! read more
