I find it hard to believe that this place gets just a cumulative of three stars. I've frequented this fine store since my parent first moved into their home in the area in 1999 and the staff in this place have NEVER been anything but truly excellent providers of service. Look, the prices are competitive with those gigantic big box stores down the hill but they ACTUALLY PROVIDE REAL CUSTOMER SERVICE. Again, always. Compared to those other leading brands, this one has been consistently, reliably superior for more than two decades. This kind of place is SO rare in this day and age. read more

I have been to the store several times, and the service has been excellent. Occasionally, there is a short wait to get help if there are lots of customers, but once they started helping me, they stayed with it until my problems were solved. In one case, I was trying to find a plumbing fitting that actually doesn't exist, but they figured out a way to put together several fittings to meet my needs. It took about 20 minutes for a total sale of about $18. read more

Not happy with this location AT ALL. Customer service and politeness has gone down the tubes! Management is worse! Don't waste your time coming to this location. I used to like this store. It used to be one of my favorites. Now it's just filthy. I looks like they haven't swept or mopped the place in years. Plus, not a single employee wears a mask or gloves during the pandemic. I guess they're trying to prolong the pain. I'm done with them. Sorry, but I'd go elsewhere. One Star is being generous. Stopped on Saturday to pick up new water lines for a kitchen faucet I'm installing. Found waterlines grabbed two, headed to the register. Came back because the ends of the lines didn't match up with the faucet. My fault. Asked a "red vest" for some advise. Told him about the faucet, what I was doing, etc. Had no idea how to help me. Okay, back home. Now realizing there was an adapter provided by Price Pfister, I now have it figured out. I was able to connect to the faucet, but not to the water supply. Headed back out again, this time to Lowe's, just a couple miles further. Walked to the pluming section, was approached by an employee who I proceeded to show the water line I purchased and explained my story. One look at the water line and he told me it wasn't the right one. I needed a 3/8th end which is standard. Purchased the lines and everything worked out. I never claimed to be a Plummer, that's why I went to a place where I'd expect someone to have recognized I was working with the wrong water lines. Disappointed. That's not all. I stopped today to return the wrong lines. Stood in line behind three other customers while one person (the asst. mgr) worked the register, while another employee was standing at the other register doing something other than greeting customers, apologizing for the poor service, or at least offering an explanation why their customers where waiting to be taken care of. Finally got to the register where I was greeted by the Assistant Store Manager who was working the register. I told him I need to return these. I offered the information that they were the wrong ones and "nobody here could help me". One would think that would raise a flag. Especially to a manger. Nope, couldn't care less. He just directed me how to insert and remove my credit card and sign for my refund. So, if you want the convenience of a quick in and out shopping experience if you know what you need and where you'll be left alone by the employees....This place will work. But if you're looking for Friendly Customer Service or Anyone Helpful, keep driving to Lowe's down the street. I've spent my last dollar at this place. Call me old fashioned, but I like spending my money at business who VALUE ME. That's not this Ace Hardware. read more

I Usually have a very pleasant experience here with friendly staff. Today an employee ignored me and then made completely unprofessional statements to me because she has shopped at my non-profit shop and didn't agree with our return policy, which is posted and on the receipt (she also threw her non-returnable item at me before storming out). I told her she was being unprofessional and she continued to go on. I walked out without my purchase then called to talk to the manager who seemed to care less. This is very unfortunate because it is so much more convenient to shop here if I need an item or two rather than driving all the way to Lowe's or Home Depot. I can't say enough great things about the manager, Nick. He went above and beyond to assist me and my dad with finding a particular item we needed that was a tough find. In a world where people seem to do the bare minimum just to "get it taken care of", Nick demonstrated exactly how much of a difference it makes when people actually care and go the extra mile. I have tried to support Ace as they go up against the big box stores nearby and Amazon. After today, I am done with them. Here is why: I placed an order online, received an email that my order was ready, and went to pick it up. Upon arrival followed instructions from the email and called to have curbside delivery. Deborah answered the phone and said they didn't have an order for me. I offered to provide her the order number, she said she had "been monitoring orders all day and I didn't have an order." I asked again what she needs to look up my order--as I had numerous communications from Ace and was told it didn't matter she didn't have an order. I asked her if she could check to see if the items I ordered were in stock. In a huff she asked me to hold. Came back and said no, we don't have that item. And that I could contact "corporate" to check on the order. I commented that this had been a big waste of time and that there is something clearly wrong with their process. Again I was told this was "corporate's" issue. I said I will head down to Home Depot and get the items I need and that they were going to lose a sale. She hung up. Out of curiosity, I walked in to the store to take a look at the item I ordered was actually I stock. As far as I could tell, the item that I wanted was not in stock; however, there were 30 or 40 very comparable items that I would have been fine with. That's when I overheard Deborah bad mouthing me in a conversation to the other cashier. I listened to the entire conversation before on my way out I said "you know you have lots of xxxxx. I wish you the best of luck." This wasn't a critical must have purchase. I picked Ace as the item showed up as being in stock and readily available for pickup. The service was inexcusable. Deborah was rude, lacked any sort of basic problem solving ability (a "sorry we are out of xxx, but we have xxx") would have been all that was needed. Ultimately her actions lost Ace a sale and a customer. Amazon by the way had the same item, was cheaper, and I won't waste my time with Ace again. read more

Normally I love going to this place always helpful employees. Walked in Super Bowl Sunday close to closing time and service was lousy. I'll give the young kids working there a break because it was Super Bowl Sunday they wanted to get out early but the checkout experience was less than stellar. read more

Exceptional! After visiting four other businesses I finally found the part that I was looking for at Ace Hardware. I have gone to Ace many times for unusual items and to solve problems. They always have what I'm looking for and are very willing to help me solve household problems. This is a clean, well organized store with knowledgeable staff very willing to help. read more

Shop at several Ace locations in the NE Valley. Love to support the local small business. As are other shopping areas in this Carefree, the shopping center is a little awkward to navigate. This small, old-fashioned hardware store is something out of "Leave It To Beaver" or "Happy Days". The staff is okay, generally leaves customers alone until a customer asks for help. Merchandise selection is limited, the modern or trendy things as well as stuff for big projects that customers might want are lacking. For a very laid back retirement community, this location probably does fine for small and easy stuff. Two stars. It just doesn't have personality or charm. Walgreens has more atmosphere. Also not for a serious DIYer. read more

Just when I thought customer service was dead, the fellows at the Ace Hardware proved me wrong. I had some replacement window screens made there and when I got them home I could not get them to go back in the windows. Craig actually came over to my house to see what the problem was and helped me get them back together. One was a little too big and they fixed that. All through the process Dave kept on top of the problem with status phone calls. I definitely would not have gotten that kind of service at one of the big box stores. read more

He said they had a very limited supply of the item, then I asked him a question about it and he THEN said that they had hundreds of these and I must come and look myself!! Wow! read more
