Not once did I feel pressured to buy a higher end product or something that I didn't really like. Two weeks later my hardware arrived just as we discussed. I really appreciate that this place doesn't resort to high pressure sales tactics and even though I could have found the hardware cheaper online I really appreciated the personal touch to get to know me and what I liked, rather than which line would bring in more profit. We had French doors put in 2021 and have since had some issues with our Emtek door handle and a strike plate falling off. The customer service was incredible. We had 3 new Emtek door handle replacements done by Simon and Sal immediately facetimed today to walk me through how to place the strike plate back on the door casing. I have to start out by saying, I had such a great experience at Scottsdale Custom. I've considered purchasing new doors for over a year before actually pulling the trigger. I knew this would be an investment and I wanted to make sure I did my homework. I did some shopping around before landing on this place. I was really hesitant after reading some of the reviews but decided stop in anyways. I am glad I did! Their prices were a little higher than I originally wanted to spend, but the amount of knowledge between both the hardware and door salesmen, made me feel very confident in the staff. I'm in sales and glad to say I've never treated anyone like I was treated here. I went there twice, met with Mark Cowden. First time he took notes promised to get back to me. I returned 9 days later. He didn't remember me but finally found my notes. He asked a few more questions said I would have something in a day or two. I emailed several times and gave up. I'm a homeowner and not a contractor so I get I might not be their ideal customer but please don't promise you will do something and just ignore me after that. I liked the product options but what a way to be treated. Of course, the goal was to buy a door, but I couldn't even get a quote. read more

I can't believe I have to write this review. I am SO frustrated with this place!!! I've been in my home for not even a year and the 1st thing I wanted to replace was the original 1986 sliding door. Instead of a sliding door I wanted atrium/French doors with a screen. Doesn't seem too complicated. I've seen stuff like this all over. Chris comes out and measures for our new door. I decide to go with Scottsdale Building supply because I want to make sure it fits well and there aren't any hiccups in the process. First hiccup - the salesman Chris can't even get the purchase order to the correct email address. Finally after 3 weeks he gets it sent to the correct address. 2nd hiccup - I get a call from them and they tell me that my door is ready. Yay! Almost a week early! My contractor goes to pick it up and it's NOT ready. Not even close! He tells them he'll come back the next day. Still not ready. After the 3rd try he is finally able to pick up the door. We knew the screen wouldn't be ready at the same time as the door but after the long wait on the door we thought they might have had it ready. Nope. Due to scheduling issues we couldn't get the door installed for a month. After the door is installed I contact our sales person to see if he would be willing to deliver the screen since it took 3 tries to get to pick up the door - and we paid our contractor for each trip. Well, I've contacted him several times and after initially responding Chris has gone dark. My contractor was in the neighborhood today and stopped by to see if he could get the screen and no one could find it. What?! And to top it all off there is a problem where the handle of the door is going to HIT the screen when we close it. And they already knew that and never said a word to anyone!! This is ridiculous! I know I'm not a huge client so they don't seem to care, but this was a big deal to me and a lot of money. I've paid in full with no discounts - what gives? I should have gone to a big box store. read more

Fantastic service from the staff and a unique inventory of hard to find replacement parts. My house is 24 years old with non-conventional door sweeps. I found them here! I have an unusual door bottom sweep on 5 exterior doors. I hunted for replacement parts to ensure a proper seal from rain, bugs (I have scorpions in my Gilbert neighborhood and I want to keep them OUT), and of course the cold/hot air escaping. The gentleman behind the counter took one look at the old track and seal I brought in, and he IMMEDIATELY knew the manufacturer and supplied exactly what I needed. I searched in big-box home improvement stores and through out the internet. My old door threshold and door sweep system was still manufactured and stocked by Scottsdale Custom Building Materials! We went here for new garage exterior doors, we had exact measurements of everything and the guy helping us was absolutely clueless. The worst service and experience I've ever encountered. This was a very basic door need with 2*6 construction and you would have thought we were asking for a door in a ceiling. A joke. This place needs to hire experienced people with basic knowledge. Handled our order very poorly. Did not order what we discussed and refused to correct the problem. We tried for several months to work with them on a solution but they evaded us and the issue continuously. We ended up out several thousand dollars due to their mistake and refusal to come up with a satisfactory solution. We ordered a custom door through this company to accommodate our personal stained glass pieces ( an oval and 2 side lights). As it turns out, they did not do this door, it was subbed out to another company unbeknownst to us. 1st lie. we were told the door would be done no later than 5/30th (2nd lie) ...which came and went...with no followup calls. no one returns calls anymore! we ended up finally getting our door the end of July! this process started in March! and they still had to tweak some problems. very stressful experience and I would NOT recommend this company! read more
