AVOID! I originally wanted IGLA & an alarm system installed onto my truck but this company doesn't install IGLA only Viper. I cancelled an appointment with them and drove 4 hours away to have IGLA installed and Compustar instead. I mainly wanted IGLA due to its features. Fast forward, I needed a rear dash camera (purchased off amazon; Neideso 360 dash camera set) installed into my camper shell and this company refused stating that "I had to go back to the people that installed my security system to have them install a rear dash camera". That is a lie. He was upset that I didn't use his company to install my after factory security system. This behavior shows a lack of emotional intelligence and poor customer service. People have after factory devices installed by different companies all the time. I had a stereo installed in my vehicle by another company 8 years ago and over the years several of the speakers have stopped working. I left a text message with Kartunes and immediately was scheduled an appointment. Upon arrival they heard my complaints and we listed to several speakers and found some that would fit my needs and my budget. Ok where shall I start..... I originally had setup an appointment to get my car a viper alarm install and some noise insulation to quite down the road noise. Upon receiving my car alarm everything seemed to be working great. I was then having troubles with the alarm not wanting to chirp and I'm not sure why it stopped chirping. I call kartunes and ask if I can stop by to get this resolved... he directed me to read the manual and look at videos online. He was very hesitant on helping and after some begging he told me to bring it in following day. I am very short on time due to a long commute to bay area so I had my father bring the car in for me. The owner blamed me for ruining the alarm and my dad quoted "your fucken son mest up the alarm". I was told that he spent an hour or so trying to resolve the issue and acted very unprofessional and disrespectful to my dad. He then sends me a text claiming the entire system will need to be replaced and that I will need to pay as well. I left a Screenshot of the message as well so he does not deny the truth. The alarm speaker was installed the wrong way and now has water by the pics as well as the damage he left from a tap screw in the pictures. Upon receiving my car he left the pillar plastic dangling. The noise insulation on the trunk was installed very sloppy and he missed the area outlined. Makes me wonder what the rest of the insulation looks like inside my door panels. After this incident I decided not to take the car back to him and fix it myself. After some time reading online and getting advice from others I was able to resolve the issue myself. The fix required no replacement, intrusion of any kind, or any removal. The fix was so simple that I am actually shocked he couldn't figure it out. I was told by word of mouth that this place is the best and he specializes in exotic and foreign cars. Hes so good that viper will call him when they are trouble shooting something.. What a joke.... I'm sure he'll read this review and deny. If you'd like a lesson free of charge on how I fixed it give me a call if you'd like. I'll take time out of my busy work week to school you free of charge. In conclusion, I do not recommend the place. I spent alot of money and he wanted to rip me off and replace the entire thing when absolutely nothing was wrong. read more

I've heard many good things about this place. A few months ago, I went in for some general questions. I went to the front to ask a question about the amp that was in my car. The person at the front desk didn't seem like she knew what I was talking about. She had told me to ask 1 of the mechanics myself in the shop and walked me back there. I asked my question and one mechanic started to answer, when the other one told him to stop, and if I want I can make an appointment and bring my car in. He told me they don't get paid to answer general questions. What he failed to realize, is that I was recently a paying customer for Kartunes and had actually had my stereo installed here. He was an older gentleman in the back shop, caucasion, mid to late 30s. The customer service I received was rude, and horrible. He did not even want to assist me with my question???!! How BS is that???! I had 3 friends I had recommended to this shop shortly after the work was done to my vehicle. But that completely changed after the rude customer service. If you want someone to do a good job on your car, and be able to come to them as a RESOURCE, meaning someone you can refer back to in case you have any questions about the installation or equipment, then this is not the place. These guys are awesome! If you're in Seaside/Monterey area, don't bother with any other place. Kartunes has a great selection of quality products, along with a very knowledgeable and professional staff who can handle any kind of installation work. Not only that, but they stand behind their work 100%. I couldn't be happier with the work they did. They had everything I needed to add some bass to my stock system, and the install was as clean as could be! The best part came later, though. Shortly after getting the sub and amp installed, I had to move. While driving through AZ, NM, TX some parts of the sub came unglued due to the heat and the sub blew. After arriving to TX, Kartunes advised me to find the nearest authorized Alpine dealer to handle the warranty replacement. The only such dealer in my area is Best Buy. I went to them and they basically told me: "You didn't buy it from us, so **** you" and gave me Alpine's corporate number. I called Alpine, and they wanted me to jump through all sorts of inconvenient hoops without any actual guarantee of replacement. I contacted Kartunes, and they told me to just send it back to them, and they sent me a brand new sub right away, along with a refund check for the shipping costs. Within a week, the system was as good as new, and Kartunes gave me some helpful tips on how to break in the unit properly so I can avoid this issue in the future. Simply outstanding! read more

I snagged a low-end amp, subs, and amp wiring kit for an awesome price from a friend but wasn't confident enough to install myself. I turned to Kar Tunes for help and they were able to install everything nicely in under 2 hours, thankfully under my budget. Back in 2005 Tim and Karen of Kar Tunes were highly recommended by the Monterey Mercedes dealer so I took my first new AMG Mercedes there for a K40 radar detector install. The shop is small but neat and clean with the owner Tim being a hands on guy with 30 years of experience. Bonus: He is definitely a car guy with his personal driver a very trick Porsche. Over the last 9 years I've had numerous radar detectors installed by Tim and his crew. These included five (5) different AMG Mercedes (V12 Bi-Turbos), two ZO6 and one ZR1 Corvette. Ticket magnets all without detectors. Plus two Ford Raptors with # 3 going in tomorrow. Any warranty or other issues are always handled with courtesy and enthusiasm. My latest AMG is the rare 2014 SLS Black Series which costs to the North of 300K.; the others have been over 200K. Needless to say I am VERY picky and careful about who works on them and who drives them. "Good enough" is not in my lexicon. Tim is a Pro and totally understands nervous owners who want only the best for their rides, no matter the price of the car. I trust him with any of my cars and I can't say that about many other technicians as I am paranoid they may want to 'see what it will do' while on a test drive. For the first couple of installs I brought a book and my lunch and kept watch on what was going on during the install. Now I am so comfortable with then that we drop the cars off and pick them up when Karen calls to alert us they are ready. They may or may not be the least expensive place for installs but I don't care as I know the owner of the shop is right on site and making sure the jobs are done right. Plus, his wife Karen backs him up with her knowledge of where to get parts and how to expedite their delivery. They make a great team. read more

Though she let me sample the higher quality systems, she knew that I was not in this for shows or extreme systems. Fantastic. I upgraded my old Alpine deck to a new Pioneer MVH-X360BT, with Bluetooth to use with my iPhone. The husband-and-wife team were friendly and competent. Karen helped me decide on which model to get and answered all my questions. Tim suggested buying a new part from the dealer to restore my dash, since it had been cut and modified during the previous aftermarket install. The part was inexpensive and made it look great -- I'm really glad I followed his advice. He did an excellent install and took time to to show me how it worked. Great customer service, stopped by to price radios. Got an awesome deal on a Alpine basic radio and installation. It was knocking on closing time and didn't realize my car had sub-woofer in the back. My old deck had a built in amp, they of course wanted to make sure I was aware about the sound difference. It ended up being too high pitch for my taste and instead of just letting me leave they stayed latter installing an amp to power the back sub-woofer. I almost never post on Yelp. But after the experience with these guys I had to. The buying experience was great. I picked up a Pioneer AppRadio 3. From the start they were very knowledgeable about the features and the limitations of the radio. They were very upfront about the fact that it doesn't work with all Android phones and that some needed additional parts beyond the optional factory cable. After I picked out the head unit they helped me find some new door speakers that would fit my budget, they got me some Alpine Type-S components that sound great. They got me scheduled for install the next day and got the car from me right on time. They pointed out some damage to my door panels that the previous owner had done (nothing major, but nice to know about). Called me a few hours later and the car was finished. They stuck around for about 15 minutes to make sure I was able to get my phone connected okay, bluetooth microphone placement worked and so on. After all of that, which I would expect of any shop, they earned their fifth star. Just now, a week after the install, the shop calls me. They just wanted to make sure I was enjoying the radio, not having any problems with it, and that I didn't have any questions. This, to me, is above and beyond what most any shop would do. They didn't try to upsell me anything I didn't want or need. The bottom line is that they seemed to genuinely appreciate me as a customer. So much more so than any other service provider I've been to. Oh, and they offer military discount. read more

I accidentally wrote the wrong time and was 40 min late . BUT they were very nice and still managed to install the camera and Apple Watch media.
