A property with this much soul deserves a staff that matches it, and we kept waiting for that to show up. The saving grace was the Library Bar off the lobby. Dark, cozy, wingback chairs, a real step back into the Jazz Age. One honest heads-up: we were told there would be live jazz, and it turned out to be one gentleman at a piano. He played well, but know that this is a piano bar, not a jazz club, and set your expectations there. Three stars. If we find ourselves in the neighborhood we would happily duck into the Library for a nightcap, but for our next Dallas stay we will be trying somewhere new.

Our event coordinator had already been in contact with each hotel's sales team regarding room blocks, but my fiancé and I wanted to personally see the properties before recommending them to 30-40 hotel room blocks. Although we arrived after sales office hours, Liz at the front desk was exceptionally kind. She walked us through the restaurants commonly used for private events, explained the renovation timeline, and invited us to take our time exploring before returning to the front desk to view a standard guest room. Unfortunately, our experience changed when another employee, who later identified himself as Clayton, a manager, stepped in. It appeared he had been listening to our conversation but had not introduced himself. He abruptly informed us that we would not be able to view a room. We explained that our event coordinator was already working with the sales manager regarding room blocks and pricing, and that we were simply trying to ensure we felt confident recommending the hotel to our family and friends. Despite understanding the situation, he remained unwilling to accommodate the request. His only suggestion was that we purchase a room if we wanted to see one. For us, this interaction spoke volumes. Hospitality isn't just about beautiful rooms--it's about making potential guests feel welcomed and valued. If this was the experience we received as prospective clients considering multiple wedding events and dozens of room nights, it gave us pause about what our guests might experience. As a result, we will likely to move our room block, welcome dinner, Saturday event, and Sunday brunch where we're met with warmth, flexibility, and genuine hospitality from the moment we arrive. The Joule is undeniably a beautiful property, but customer service plays a major role in our decision-making. During our visit, Adolphus hotel had a winter village festival, with ice games, cozy cabanas and chalets, together with a seasonal drinks menu and bites. So we decided to take a visit to the village festival. The interior had a dark rich oak wood interior. As you go up the escalators from the foyer, you'll see a beautiful light fixture. This takes you to the elevators on your left, which takes you up to the 7th rooftop floor without the need of a card key. There are signs to guide you to the rooftop. Staff were super friendly and greet you as you enter. Since it's been raining during our visit, the cozy cabanas kept the rain out and they had heating elements to keep you warm from the outside cold. The views were nice too, as you can partially see the lights at AT&T park opposite the hotel. There's also a little bakery/coffee shop called Otto's by the entrance where we bought some pastries and salted caramel flat milk coffee. Overall, a lovely hotel to check out and the Winter Festival will continue till the end of January, 2026. However, do check with the hotel to confirm before visiting.
