Mushroom udon and beef ragu udon
    Christy H.

Kasa Rin has quickly become one of our family's favorite restaurants. The food is superb (Japanese/Italian fusion-esque), the service is attentive, and the dining space is beautiful. I have already visited a few times during the soft opening, and all of the dishes I've tried have been incredible. TL;DR: Everything we have eaten here is incredible. Highly recommend! They offer something for everyone. Great for a nice family meal or a date night for two. Raw Bar: - Oysters on the Half Shell: my husband LOVES oysters, and these were expertly shelled and prepared with the cocktail and ponzu sauce. My youngest wanted to try as well and while she ultimately said it was too "ocean'y" she was happy she tried it. - Hamachi crudo: my favorite raw item! Love the ponzu and the hamachi is top quality - Bay Scallop ceviche: beautiful dish with tortilla chips. I ran out of chips but the server was able to bring me a few more chips to finish off the ceviche. Chilled: - Tomato burrata salad: fresh heirloom tomatoes that paired nicely with the balsamic shiso glaze. Burrata is my favorite and this was so refreshing! Appetizers: - Chicken kara age: SO GOOD. My family loves kara age and this dish is perfect. My youngest likes the chicken kara age set. - Hamachi kama "Wings": this dish is actually yellowtail collar in sweet, tangy sauce. I've ordered this every time I visit and it's so good. I love the presentation! - Yellowtail "Lollipops": everyone ate one of these and I didn't get a chance to try but was told they were delicious. Udon Pasta: - Mushroom & Bacon: mushrooms are not my favorite food, but my oldest LOVES mushrooms and she has ordered this dish twice already. She loves the juicy cuts of bacon and the perfectly prepared udon. - Beef ragu: This was my favorite of the noodle dishes. The ragu sauce is perfect and the udon perfectly prepared. Sets: - Beef Teriyaki: Loved this! The sauce was perfect for the beef and I loved all of the side dishes - especially the soup! - Assorted sashimi: My mother-in-law ordered this and was so impressed with the quality of the fish. She loved trying all of the side dishes with veggies, pickled veggies, and soup. Entrees: - Steak frittes: classic, beautifully prepared tender steak and fries. So good! - Crab Mentaiko Butter: OK. I had to save the best for last. You know when you eat crab and you have to crack all the legs and it takes forever and then you want to just enjoy all the delicious meat and butter? Well, this dish takes you straight to the finish line without getting your hands all dirty. This dish is a mound of delicious crab with butter on top of white rice. PERFECT. NO NOTES. Dessert: - Chocolate mousse: light, airy, and just enough chocolatey sweetness. I ordered this for myself and my youngest ate 80% of it. - Mochi dessert: not for me but my husband and oldest LOVED it. Big fluffy mochi with ice cream, corn flakes, sweet syrup, and red bean. Drinks: - I think I've gone too overboard in this review. But all of our drinks have been yummy. We've tried yuzu coke, peach cucumber, shikuwasa calpico, strawberry yogurt (my kids' favorite), and my favorite is the red shiso lemonade!

Little Tokyo has a new spot to add to your foodie list! Kasa Rin brings Japanese comfort food, beautiful vibes, and seriously delicious bites all under one roof. I tried the Hokkaido Scallop, Yellowtail Lollipop, A5 Wagyu Beef Skewer, Steak Frites, and Mentaiko Pasta--and everything was so flavorful! The A5 Wagyu skewer was a must-try, while the creamy mentaiko pasta was seriously addictive. And that steak frites? So satisfying!

The salmon wings were something I have never tried before and it was extremely delicious! Please try it with the sauce it comes with! The steak fries were so good! I would order this again! Friendly and helpful service! The ambiance is calming.

Service- 5/5 incredible service, constantly checking in and making sure we didn't need anything else. Ambience- 5/5 The interior is lovely! Gorgeous restaurant would be a cute date night spot. Food- 10/5 Lord!! the food was so good. I got the salmon teriyaki plate it was fantastic. I am not normally a teriyaki lover, but this was some of the best salmon I've ever had. The sides and whatever soup of the day we got were all amazing. We also got the pork belly skewers which were very tasty, they are 1pc so I would say get a few. We got the cucumber salad as an appetizer, it was a small portion but was very tasty. I also got the peach cucumber drink which was refreshing and light. For dessert we got the créeme brûlée trio, all of the flavors were incredible and vastly different. Our group of 3 ended up paying less than $150 for all the food we got including alcoholic drinks, which to me was a steal. I definitely feel like this is a great bang for your buck. They are still in soft opening but worth going!! Me and my group will be back.

The food was AMAZING! Everything we ordered was plated pretty and very tasty. The service was welcoming and friendly. The restaurant was clean and the lighting was perfect. We had a large group and was able to share and try a variety of dishes. I started with the Peach Cucumber Cooler which I really enjoyed. It wasnt too sweet and was light and refreshing. The Seafood Tartar was one of my favorite starters and the Munchie Chips was fun to share. I thought the Hokkaido Scallop Carpaccio came out so pretty. My daughters favorite was the Cream Tomato Crab Udon which was really good but I was surprised by how delicious the Crab Mentaiko Butter with rice was. This dish looked simple but the flavor was so good I didn't want to share so I definitely had a second helping. Truffle Cheese Stuffed Gnocchi was fun and I liked that there were lots mushrooms. I was able to try a bite of the Yellowtail lollipops before my son ate it all. It was cooked perfectly. I had actually wanted to try the Hamachi Kama Wings instead but was sold out so I will definitely need to come back for those. For dessert, we had the Creme Brulee trio and it was so good. My favorite was the black sesame but the crowd favorite was the yuzu flavor. The chocolate one was also very good. Definitely going to try the other desserts next time too. This was such a GEM. Everything from ambiance to food was great! Definitely can't wait to come back and try everything else.

A new must try restaurant in Little Tokyo. This past Sunday evening around 6:45, I was able to walk into a soft opening of this new restaurant with my wife. The restaurant was located on the 3rd floor of Weller Court above Rice and Nori and Marukai Market. I parked underground at Weller Court. As you walk into the restaurant, there is a feel of a Japanese family comfort setting. The seating area with the tables and chairs are nicely spaced out where you will not feel other guests, sitting near you, are invading your space. The lighting is nicely lit and is not super bright or dark. For a soft opening, the service team was not only friendly and helpful, but they were super attentive and followed up frequently. With other soft and grand opening of restaurants I had been to, it is not as consistent. This one was different because the service was consistent. Let's get down to the food. My wife and I started with the Yuzu Coke and Peach Cucumber Cooler. Both beverages were refreshing. The Yuzu taste was really in the Coke. The cooler was not super sweet and very flavorful. For the appetizers, we started with the Munchie Chips, Hamachi Crudo, Seafood Tartar, and the fully loaded oysters (only consumed by me). The chips were good and butter with pieces of bacon inside the bowl. The Crudo was light and refreshing with a bit of tanginess from the yuzu juice. The tartar was a hit. Served with lightly battered Nori (seaweed) chips, this flavorful and tasty combination of fish hit the spot. Not filling and had perfect richness in flavors, it was the right portion and taste to start the meal. The fully loaded oysters were super flavorful, tasty, delicious, and easy to eat with one slurp. Our second of food came with Hamachi Kama Wings, fries, chicken karaage, wagyu and pork belly skewers. The wings were amazing with a sweet and a bit tangy sauce that's glazed over. I had to eat with my hands on this one since there are bones in each wing. The fries were nicely seasoned while the chicken karaage was tender and lightly fried. Both dishes were not oily at all. The main course, we shared and probably my favorite dish outside of the tartar, was the Creamy Tomato Crab udon pasta. The dish was rich, tasty, and packed full of flavor. Once the crab is mixed in (comes stacked on top of the pasta), there is enough to satisfy each bite with the crab. If I did not order anything else, I would just do 2 orders of this pasta just for dinner. Finally, we come to dessert. We ordered the Creme Brûlée Trio and the Mochi Parfait. The trio was decadent with the black sesame and chocolate flavored ones. The yuzu flavored one was sweet and tangy and was my favorite of the three. I eat a bigger portion of the yuzu one while watching Netflix. This dessert was enough to be addictive, but addictive is an understatement when it came to the parfait. The parfait looked very ordinary like any other sundae, but do not be fooled. There is a hidden surprise in each bite. It's nice and delicious when I started eating the ice cream with the mochi, strawberries and a bit of red bean. As I ate through the ice cream, there started to be a crunch in each bite. There is cereal mixed into the ice cream near the bottom. There was Frosted Flakes that gave the ice cream a unique texture and delicious taste to go with the ice cream. For sure I will be ordering both desserts again in tandem. The pricing of the menu is not pricey at all based on the dishes we ordered. This is actually in line with most restaurants, but the taste, portions, and service will bring me back again quickly.

    Mochi Parfait for desert!

Kasa Rin! Simply amazing once you find it up on the 3rd floor of Weller Court! The food, phenomenal. There isn't a bad dish on the menu. I enjoyed the Kumamoto oysters, super fresh and sweet. The trouble, butter, edamame, next level. The mushroom gnocchi might have broke the mouth. The crab, tomato udon, savory, and Rich, but you still taste the crab. The chef does an excellent job with everything. The service was also great, the food came out quickly. The manager and servers were very attentive but not intrusive. They kept my beer cold and my table clean. The lighting was great, and the chairs comfortable, plenty of room to sit and not be crowded.

    Salmon Teriyaki Set
    Kali A.

My coworker and I happened to walk in right at 2PM opening (Soft Opening Hours and Happy Hour) and we thoroughly enjoyed our experience! Service was amazing (we had a lot of questions since it was our first time) and the food was fresh and delicious. They even gave us an extra dish because the chef made something on accident. Very nice of them to give it to us! As someone who loves Salmon Teriyaki (and has eaten thousands in my lifetime), Kasa Rin's is top tier! The fish was super soft and juicy with the perfect teriyaki sauce (thick and not too sweet). I love authentic Japanese food and will definitely be back to try the rest of the menu (especially the drinks and udon!).

    Sashimi Set

What a gem! Great food and service, super cute inside. Everything we ordered was delicious. We especially loved the udon pastas, we had both the Creamy Tomato Crab and Uni Special. Highly recommend the Bay Scallop Ceviche with a Sangria. Buddies loved their sashimi set and raw oyster special (the Fat Bastard) ((the special name, not my buddy)) The sashimi set included a bowl of chowder (Shiro Negi Potage) that was bomb. All of Iris's recs were excellent. Mushroom Onion Tart, Mochi Parfait with the cornflakes?! Thank you, Iris! Didn't regret anything we ordered and can't wait to come back and try more. Wish I had taken more pictures as all of the plates were beautiful. Just two blocks from Little Tokyo station on the top floor

Went back again last weekend and they updated the seafood tartar chips. They are now serving crispy seaweed rice cracker chips with the seafood tartar which I think is perfect! Nice crunch and light, get the appetizer!

We loved our visit to Kasa Rin. The ambience was welcoming and cozy. The staff were very inviting. Brian made sure to check in on us to make sure everything was to our liking, answering any questions or concerns we had about menu items. I started with their special Fat Bastard Loaded oyster which was fresh. They made my strawberry calpico in house. The salmon belly wings were tender and cooked well. Both the pork belly and wagyu skewers were juicy and tender. The udon beef ragú was good, noodles were cooked perfectly. The mochi parfait and chocolate mousse were a great way to end our dinner. This will be on our favorites list for sure.

    Scallop carpaccio, yum!

We stuffed ourselves because the food was soooo goood! It's been a while since I've had a meal with high marks! Service was great, ambiance was perfect. comfortable, clean, light music. Definitely coming back again!

    Black Cod Dinner Set

Kasa Rin is such a beautiful Japanese restaurant with gorgeous decor, a wonderful ambience, and excellent service. The food was absolutely delicious, creative, and beautifully presented. We tried the seafood tartar, Hamachi collar wings, black cod set with the most delicious yuzu dipping sauce, and mentaiko cream udon--everything was flavorful and unique. The drinks were also fantastic, especially the peach cucumber cooler spirit and red shiso lemonade spirit. The combination of great food, creative dishes, attentive service, and beautiful atmosphere made for a wonderful dining experience. Highly recommend Kasa Rin--we'll definitely be back!

Seating inside is very limited and consists entirely of bar seating, so don't expect to come here with a large group. The staff was very attentive and did a great job making sure we had everything we needed throughout the meal. One small detail I really appreciated was the restroom. They have two types of hand soap: scented and unscented. The unscented soap is meant for when you're going back to continue eating, while the scented soap is for after you've finished your meal. It's such a small touch, but it really adds to the overall experience and shows how much thought they put into the details. For the food, we got the 6-hand-roll set, which ended up being plenty to fill us up. The rice was perfectly warm and had a slight seasoning to it, which helped bring everything together with the flavors of the fish and seafood. The hand rolls were fresh and satisfying without feeling overly heavy. Price-wise, I think it's fair for the quality you're getting. Overall, Kazunori is a solid spot for hand rolls if you're in the area or just craving some good sushi!

Street parking is also available, but it can be difficult to find and may require a bit of a walk. * We were a party of two. My partner ordered three ankimo hand rolls because she loves ankimo, and I ordered the six-roll set. * The rice in my first two rolls was a little too hot, possibly because it had just been prepared. From the third roll onward, the temperature was fine. * After my partner had the second ankimo roll, we both felt that there was too much sauce and that it was overpowering the ankimo. We had just visited the Pasadena location the week before, where the flavor was much more balanced, so the difference was noticeable to us. * We asked the server if they could use a little less sauce on the next ankimo roll, but we were told that everything was standardized and could not be changed. * We tried to clarify that we were not asking them to change the ankimo recipe or any pre-made seasoning. We were simply asking for a little less of the sauce that the chef squeezes on while assembling the hand roll. However, we were given the same answer again that it was standardized and could not be adjusted. * At that point, we stopped asking and just accepted it as it was. Interestingly, the last ankimo roll actually tasted just right, which made us think the chef may have understood what we were asking for even though there seemed to be some miscommunication with the server. Overall, the food itself was not the main issue. We've visited this location many times and have generally had good experiences. This visit was disappointing mainly because a very simple request turned into a communication issue that we felt could have been handled more easily.

Although their menu is regularly updated and posted on their website, they'll also have a piece of paper on the table listing on the special of the day. On our visit, the special was fried yellow tail, but we ultimately passed since our order was already loaded. After you place your order, the dishes are coursed out so not everything hits the table at the same time. Pacing was perfect and service was polite and attentive. Of the items we ordered the crowd favorite was the fries from the steak fries dipped into the sauce of the budo-gnocchi dish. The fries were effectively a perfected version of the McDonald's fry: golden and crispy, crunchy on the outside, fluffy on the inside. The wagyu was sliced into beautiful bite-size pieces and was melt-in-you-mouth tender. Definitely a must order! Another favorite of mine was the Japanese sweet potato. The surface of the potato is beautifully brûléed, there's an intense richness from the glob of miso koji butter on top, and the chives add a nice freshness to the dish. I cannot recommend Budonoki enough if you're a foodie. Seriously some of the best food I've had in LA.

The pacific oysters are a good size and I really enjoyed the yuzu-kosho ponzu sauce on it. The spicy tuna crispy rice have a good amount of spicy tuna on top & I loved how crispy they made the rice underneath. The Kodo trio comes with uni, toro, & wagyu and the Toro sampler comes with o-toro, chu-toro, akami. All of these handrolls were phenomenal & just left you wanting more. The Wagyu katsu you cook on a hot stone at the table which I liked as an interactive dish. The Wagyu cheeseburger was dripping with juice but still had those crunchy edges. The Uni pasta was beautiful & delicious. The Chimichurri prawns I could eat multiple plates of- the shell comes sliced down the middle so you just have to peel it off. For dessert we ordered the Kodo basque cheesecake & Miso chocolate torte. I love a basque cheesecake & the sesame crumble added great texture. The miso chocolate torte made me wish I ordered my own. Everything from start to finish was amazing, it's hard to pick favorites. Parking- valet $13
