    Spicy tuna hand roll
    Ken D.

I was in the area for a job interview and had always noticed this spot, but usually ended up going to Kazunori instead. I'm so glad I finally gave it a try because I honestly think it can rival Kazunori. You can choose between the original or spicy option. The spicy version is mixed with a mayo-based spicy sauce, while the original lets the flavor of the fish shine more. Both are great depending on what you're in the mood for. This would make a perfect date night spot since you can easily bar hop around the Arts District afterward. The service is super quick, and the overall vibe is more of a grab a light bite kind of place before continuing to explore LA. I'd definitely come back.

Came here to try the cut rolls to go. Service was amazing besides receiving two dirty glasses to drink while I wait for my to go order. The cut rolls were super tiny for the price but tasted good. Definitely different from kazu nori. I would definitely come back to try their dining experience and see how they are compared to kazu nori.

Never Fails. One of My Favorite Sushi Spots in LA I've been here about 20 times, and Yunomi Handroll has never disappointed me. The service is always excellent, attentive, friendly, and professional. The hand rolls are coursed out at the perfect pace, so you're never rushed and each roll arrives fresh. The restaurant is consistently clean, and the restrooms are always stocked and well maintained. We started with the freshly brewed Genmaicha served in a cast iron teapot (5/5) a great way to start the meal. Appetizers: *Brussels Sprouts - 5/5: Crispy, perfectly seasoned, and addictive. *Cucumber Salad - 5/5: Fresh, crisp, and refreshing. *Green Beans - 5/5: Fantastic flavor and cooked perfectly. For hand rolls, I went with the Spicy 5 Set: *Spicy Tuna - 5/5 *Albacore - 5/5 *Salmon - 5/5 *Scallop - 5/5 (my personal favorite) *Shrimp Tempura - 5/5 The quality of the fish is consistently excellent, the nori is always crisp, and every roll tastes incredibly fresh. They also have a great selection of Japanese beers if you're looking for something to pair with your meal. After roughly 20 visits, I can confidently say Yunomi is one of the most consistent dining experiences I've had. If you're a fan of hand rolls, this place is absolutely worth a visit.

One of the things I craved most during pregnancy was Yunomi! Eating it again tasted even better than I remembered. I usually get the 4 or 5 hand roll set. Their regular rolls are amazing, salmon is my favorite, and I love the eel and shrimp tempura special roll! Beyond the food, things are run very efficiently here. You get in and out really fast. But the place is small, so get here early to avoid a wait. Parking around the area is meter parking or paid lots. Highly recommend!

The rolls at Yunomi were so good! I chose to do Individual rolls + speciality instead of a set. I tried the scallop, hamachi, yunomi special, blue crab, and spicy shrimp & snow crab. My favorite was the scallop hand roll with seaweed spicy! My least favorite was the spicy shrimp & snow crab, it was just okay. Besides the hand rolls, I also got the rock shrimp tempura. This was absolutely delicious!! It was perfectly crispy, and coated in a creamy spicy sauce! All the ingredients in the rolls were super fresh but the standout for me was the seaweed that the spicy options came in. The seaweed seemed like it was roasted and brushed either oil, it was also crunchier than the regular seaweed. My boyfriend said the Salmon hand roll was his favorite, so I'll definitely have to try that next time. It can get pretty expensive if you just order individual rolls/specialty rolls instead of a set but so worth it to me! I think I prefer this to Kazunori, overall everything here was more elevated and tasted better.

Yunomi Handroll is located in Arts District in downtown Los Angeles and it's in the Michelin Guide for their handrolls. I went with their Five Handroll Set for $26 and I got a Japanese Beer for $10. They have a decent selection of Japanese canned beers that run from $8 to $16. The handrolls are priced fair and they're decent; however, the Albacore handroll was chopped too finely for my tastes. I did like their Shrimp tempura. When you order their handroll sets, they ask if you want it spicy or non-spicy. I can handle spice; however, I think the "spicy" version was heavy on the mayo and I'd recommend the non-spicy version. I came here for a lunch before a Dodger game and I think it was a great choice; however, I can't say it's better than other Handroll spots like Rol (in orange county) or Kazunori.

Hands down the best sushi around. It all comes down to the quality of the seafood, exceptionally fresh, clean, and buttery. The made-to-order hand rolls are a standout: crisp seaweed with the perfect crunch, lightly salted so you barely need soy sauce. Watching them roll each hand roll right in front of you only adds to the experience. We started with the yellowtail serrano sashimi and rock shrimp tempura, both incredibly fresh and beautifully prepared. This isn't a place for a long, sit-down date or group hang, it's casual, and meant for a quick but memorable meal. They offer sake and beer, the service is relaxed, and the overall vibe is chill. The only downside is parking: you'll either need to pay or get lucky with very limited street parking. That said, it's absolutely worth the effort.

Ordered deliver again, the 4 cut roll box and the green beans. Just as delicious and consistent! I'm a confirmed fan! It's challenging to do sushi well for delivery. I'll be dining in person one day now too.

My friend recommended this place! We came in on a Saturday night for a party of 3. They have a waitlist but there was no wait to be seated. Parking is a little tough along the main road. The restaurant is cute and located in a great spot to walk around. I ordered 4 hand rolls separately, 2 scallop, 1 crab and 1 salmon. The fish was fresh and great portions. Service was good, very quick and kept checking on us. The only downside is that there were a bunch of flies in the restaurant that kept flying on our food :(

    Ena C.

This place was great. Parking is a little hard but it is LA so that's understandable. They don't take reservations, only walk in so take that into consideration since they might get busy and you'll have to wait. They also only have limited seating and it is all bar seating. I recommend getting one of the sets. We got the 5 set and it was super filling and amazing. Each roll gets made at the bar in front of you. You can pick between spicy and non spicy but you wont be able to mix and match so keep that in mind. I got the non spicy and my friend got the spicy but she said it was really good, so you won't be disappointed with either option. We also got the Spicy Albacore on Crispy Rice as an appetizer which was fire. Overall if you have the opportunity to check this place out I highly recommend it.

The food here is insanely good. The sushi is so fresh and the quality is amazing. I eat here once a month like a routine. The service is great and you can join the waitlist from the yelp app. 1000/10

I heard good things about Yunomi and I was looking for a new restaurant to try with a friend and we came here! We got the 3-roll combo because we are both broke college students and felt like this was a good combination that could allow us to sample some of the options. The tuna was fairly unmemorable but the quality of the fish was solid. The salmon was buttery and had a very clean bite, which was probably my favorite roll. I liked the crispiness of the tempura and the contrast with the cucumber, but it was a little batter heavy. Overall, it was a little pricey for how much food it was but 3 rolls was sufficiently filling for me.

    Sophie D.

Michelin rated! Fresh, quality sushi, beautifully presented in a vibey location. Service: attentive, personable waiting staff. This place is quite small, so the wait can get long but dinner is quick due to how everything is set up. No wait early Thursday evening (5:30pm). Food: everything is good. Favorite is ANY HAND ROLL. Even the pickled ginger and seaweed wraps are fire. Sake: we asked for sweet and got a good recommendation. Parking: paid lots and limited street. Typical arts district chaos. Overall one of my favorite casual but elevated spots to grab sushi. Will be back next week.

Dashi was VERY good. Generous amount of grated daikon. Assort. Tempura: Saw this being served while waiting. Looked really good and it WAS! Large shiitake mushroom. Fan cut Japanese eggplant, kabocha pumpkin, shrimp tempura & two (2) shiso leaves. All VERY crisp not oily. Warm dashi side had deep umami rich flavor. Probably made the legit kombu & bonita flake method. #1 ordered the Miso carbonara: garlicky carbonara served with their signature house-rolled out udon. Wonderful dish. It was just so impressively juicy and tender with great flavors scallop crudo ($24) - juicy! For dessert we ordered the Kodo basque cheesecake & Miso chocolate torte. I love a basque cheesecake & the sesame crumble added great texture. The miso chocolate torte made me wish I ordered my own. Everything from start to finish was amazing, it's hard to pick favorites. Parking- valet $13

Food is delicious, drinks are good, and parking isn't hard to find if you're willing to walk a little. The design kinda dark inside, but the patio is always nice. The best part? I can be in and out in less than an hour if I wanted!
