Food and drinks were great and it wasn't packed at all for a Saturday night. My favorite was the honey shrimp hand roll.

Parking!! I believe it's mainly street, but we found parking straightaway on a Monday night. The inside is super clean and tranquil. Note that you can join waitlist remotely, but be sure to check its the right location!!! I decided against the set this time and got individual handrails. I splurged on the soft shell crab and it was so delicious and crispy. The Yunomi special was also fresh with a little crunch from the shrimp tempura. These two premium rolls came with a special seaweed (which I preferred) and did not get as soggy and chewy as other standard seaweed do. I also ordered a scallop handroll (standard seaweed) and the scallop was super fresh and plump. Finally, I ended on a spicy salmon (mine came with the special seaweed). The food was filling and super fresh. I definitely will want to come back and try some apps too. Service was very attentive. I did enjoy the little touch of the hand towel for before/after the meal. I noticed they were burning incense, which triggered some sneezes. Just beware, for those more sensitive to smell. read more

Came by on a Saturday evening and the wait was around 30 minutes. Heard about this place from another Yelper and had to try it as a sushi lover. The ambiance was your typical hand roll bar where you can watch your hand rolls being made, and the staff was very attentive throughout the meal. I ordered the six hand roll set with an additional blue crab hand roll. It definitely didn't disappoint- this might be one of my new favorite hand roll spots! The parking situation was a little tough. We circled the surrounding streets multiple times before finally finding street parking that ended up being about an 8-10 minute walk from the restaurant. Compared to other hand roll spots, I appreciated that the fish in these hand rolls was cubed rather than shredded. This was a huge plus since it helped preserve the flavor and texture of the fish. You could really taste how fresh everything was. My favorites were the blue crab roll and the salmon roll. The rice to fish ratio was perfect, and the timing interval at which each hand roll came out was also good. Besides the parking situation, everything else exceeded expectations. I'm so glad I finally gave it a try because I honestly think it can rival Kazunori. You can choose between the original or spicy option. The spicy version is mixed with a mayo-based spicy sauce, while the original lets the flavor of the fish shine more. Both are great depending on what you're in the mood for. This would make a perfect date night spot since you can easily bar hop around the Arts District afterward. The rolls at Yunomi were so good! I chose to do Individual rolls + speciality instead of a set. I tried the scallop, hamachi, yunomi special, blue crab, and spicy shrimp & snow crab. My favorite was the scallop hand roll with seaweed spicy! My least favorite was the spicy shrimp & snow crab, it was just okay. Besides the hand rolls, I also got the rock shrimp tempura. This was absolutely delicious!! It was perfectly crispy, and coated in a creamy spicy sauce! All the ingredients in the rolls were super fresh but the standout for me was the seaweed that the spicy options came in. The seaweed seemed like it was roasted and brushed either oil, it was also crunchier than the regular seaweed. My boyfriend said the Salmon hand roll was his favorite, so I'll definitely have to try that next time. It can get pretty expensive if you just order individual rolls/specialty rolls instead of a set but so worth it to me! Yunomi Handroll is located in Arts District in downtown Los Angeles and it's in the Michelin Guide for their handrolls. I went with their Five Handroll Set for $26 and I got a Japanese Beer for $10. They have a decent selection of Japanese canned beers that run from $8 to $16. The handrolls are priced fair and they're decent; however, the Albacore handroll was chopped too finely for my tastes. I did like their Shrimp tempura. When you order their handroll sets, they ask if you want it spicy or non-spicy. I can handle spice; however, I think the "spicy" version was heavy on the mayo and I'd recommend the non-spicy version. I came here for a lunch before a Dodger game and I think it was a great choice; however, I can't say it's better than other Handroll spots like Rol (in orange county) or Kazunori. read more

They don't take reservations, only walk in so take that into consideration since they might get busy and you'll have to wait. They also only have limited seating and it is all bar seating. I recommend getting one of the sets. We got the 5 set and it was super filling and amazing. Each roll gets made at the bar in front of you. You can pick between spicy and non spicy but you wont be able to mix and match so keep that in mind. I got the non spicy and my friend got the spicy but she said it was really good, so you won't be disappointed with either option. Six Handroll Set $30 - tuna, albacore, salmon, yellowtail, scallop, shrimp tempura. All solid and we ordered all of them spicy, which honestly was not spicy at all but just had a very slight kick. We ordered the brussels sprouts, spicy albacore on crispy rice, and the 6 handroll set per person. I loved that there was a spicy option for the handroll, and I really enjoyed the extra crisp from the Korean seaweed paper they use for it. Definitely a nice extra touch! I've had Yunomi Handroll on my list to try for YEARS, and hubby & I finally came between lunch & dinner on Saturday. It was a down-time, so we found street parking easily (metered @ $1.00/hour with a 2 hour limit until 8pm every day, except Sundays), and waited about 5-10 minutes for some spots to open up. They have a sign up front that says there's a 45 minute limit when it's busy. They've got limited high-seats at the bar and 2 handi-cap lower seats at the very end inside near the restrooms. Service is great & quick. I never expect to be "full" from eating hand rolls, so coming during an off-time was good for us a snack before dinner. They make the hand rolls in the order of the sets or how you order. I like that their spicy option comes with Korean seaweed paper, which is thinner and crisper and breaks better for each bite. The traditional Japanese seaweed paper is used for the non-spicy handrolls. They have 3, 4, 5, and 6 handroll sets ranging from $17-$30. You can choose between seaweed and soy paper and spicy and non-spicy...but the whole set must either be spicy or non-spicy. Their cucumber salad was refreshing, but a bit too sweet for my taste. They give you those cute towel pods that expand when put in water to clean your hands. 2 unisex restrooms available in the back with two sinks outside, were clean.
