We weren't sure what we were eating for the crispy rice , but the flavor was good. The servers can get distracted when it was busy, the second time we came by the service was quite slow we couldn't get any attention for a bit even tho the guys were just standing there . Anyhow. Visited for the second time and can confirm this is still my favorite handroll restaurant. There doesn't seem to be a reservation option, so be sure to join the waitlist. On weekends, expect to wait at least an hour. Luckily, there are plenty of bars nearby to kill time. Death & Co is right next door if you're in the mood for unique cocktails, and EightyTwo is a short walk away for more budget-friendly drinks. Parking is easy enough since there are lots all around, but prices vary. I still haven't found the best deal - the one I used was $10/hour. Seating is limited and bar-top style, so it can feel pretty tight. The stools aren't the most comfortable either, so don't be surprised if you accidentally elbow your neighbor. I recommend ordering one of the handroll sets. My favorites are the yellowtail and albacore handrolls. The yellowtail sashimi is good too, but I actually prefer it as a handroll. The ambiance was your typical hand roll bar where you can watch your hand rolls being made, and the staff was very attentive throughout the meal. I ordered the six hand roll set with an additional blue crab hand roll. It definitely didn't disappoint- this might be one of my new favorite hand roll spots! The parking situation was a little tough. We circled the surrounding streets multiple times before finally finding street parking that ended up being about an 8-10 minute walk from the restaurant. Compared to other hand roll spots, I appreciated that the fish in these hand rolls was cubed rather than shredded. This was a huge plus since it helped preserve the flavor and texture of the fish. You could really taste how fresh everything was. My favorites were the blue crab roll and the salmon roll. The rice to fish ratio was perfect, and the timing interval at which each hand roll came out was also good. Besides the parking situation, everything else exceeded expectations. They were recognized by the Michelin Guide in 2022-2025 and the food shows. We decided to get a 3 roll combo which included the tuna, salmon, and shrimp tempura handroll with the option to make it spicy. The quality and value was good. 3 was enough if you aren't too hungry, but could definitely add a few more rolls if you were wanting a bigger meal. Service was simple and quick. Their regular rolls are amazing, salmon is my favorite, and I love the eel and shrimp tempura special roll! Beyond the food, things are run very efficiently here. You get in and out really fast. Extremely disappointing experience. We paid $24 just to park only to be told at 9:24 PM that we could not even be added to the waitlist despite last call being at 9:50 PM. What made it even more frustrating was that no one else was waiting in the waiting area. We weren't even given the opportunity to add our self's to the wait list or try the sushi. We essentially paid $24 for parking just to walk in and be turned away. Hopefully this review saves someone else the time frustration and money. Just a heads-up that they do have a 45-minute dining limit during rush hour. We started with the six-hand-roll set, which included tuna, albacore, salmon, yellowtail, scallop, and shrimp tempura. I liked that they gave us the option to make the rolls spicy or non-spicy. All of the fish tasted fresh, and each hand roll was served right after it was made, so the seaweed was still crispy. After finishing the set, we were still a little hungry, so we ordered a few of their specialty hand rolls: unagi and shrimp tempura, plus the soft-shell crab. The soft-shell crab was BOMB and was easily my favorite thing we ordered. Parking!! I believe it's mainly street, but we found parking straightaway on a Monday night. The inside is super clean and tranquil. Note that you can join waitlist remotely, but be sure to check its the right location!!! I decided against the set this time and got individual handrails. I splurged on the soft shell crab and it was so delicious and crispy. The Yunomi special was also fresh with a little crunch from the shrimp tempura. These two premium rolls came with a special seaweed (which I preferred) and did not get as soggy and chewy as other standard seaweed do. I also ordered a scallop handroll (standard seaweed) and the scallop was super fresh and plump. Finally, I ended on a spicy salmon (mine came with the special seaweed). The food was filling and super fresh. I definitely will want to come back and try some apps too. Service was very attentive. I did enjoy the little touch of the hand towel for before/after the meal. The rolls at Yunomi were so good! I chose to do Individual rolls + speciality instead of a set. I tried the scallop, hamachi, yunomi special, blue crab, and spicy shrimp & snow crab. My favorite was the scallop hand roll with seaweed spicy! My least favorite was the spicy shrimp & snow crab, it was just okay. Besides the hand rolls, I also got the rock shrimp tempura. This was absolutely delicious!! It was perfectly crispy, and coated in a creamy spicy sauce! All the ingredients in the rolls were super fresh but the standout for me was the seaweed that the spicy options came in. The seaweed seemed like it was roasted and brushed either oil, it was also crunchier than the regular seaweed. My boyfriend said the Salmon hand roll was his favorite, so I'll definitely have to try that next time. It can get pretty expensive if you just order individual rolls/specialty rolls instead of a set but so worth it to me! The menu is impressive, and everything we ordered was absolutely delicious--until my warm crab roll arrived with a long hair cooked into it. It was incredibly unpleasant and completely ruined the meal for me. What disappointed me even more was how the situation was handled. Rather than acknowledging the issue, management and the chef tried to convince me that the hair was actually a strand from my wooden chopsticks. It was very clearly a long human hair, not a splinter or thread from the chopsticks. That response was frustrating and made the experience worse. On a positive note, the restaurant has a fantastic menu, the food itself is very good, and it's easy to see why there's usually a line out the door. We were seated immediately, and our servers were attentive and friendly throughout the meal. I also noticed there wasn't an "A" health grade posted in the front window, which gave me some pause considering what happened. I really wanted to love this restaurant because the food has so much potential, but cleanliness and taking responsibility when something goes wrong are just as important as great flavor. They don't take reservations, only walk in so take that into consideration since they might get busy and you'll have to wait. They also only have limited seating and it is all bar seating. I recommend getting one of the sets. We got the 5 set and it was super filling and amazing. Each roll gets made at the bar in front of you. You can pick between spicy and non spicy but you wont be able to mix and match so keep that in mind. I got the non spicy and my friend got the spicy but she said it was really good, so you won't be disappointed with either option. They have a decent selection of Japanese canned beers that run from $8 to $16. The handrolls are priced fair and they're decent; however, the Albacore handroll was chopped too finely for my tastes. I did like their Shrimp tempura. When you order their handroll sets, they ask if you want it spicy or non-spicy. I can handle spice; however, I think the "spicy" version was heavy on the mayo and I'd recommend the non-spicy version. I came here for a lunch before a Dodger game and I think it was a great choice; however, I can't say it's better than other Handroll spots like Rol (in orange county) or Kazunori. read more

However, I have been here twice and both times the service has been mediocre to lacking. The servers give weird stares and there's barely any communication with them. My partner and I ordered the 6 roll set (1 not included in the pictures). Fresh fish in each hand roll, including the tempura, which was fried by the back kitchen staff upon the chef's request. Some of the rolls included green onions. All included rice. Tempura roll included thinly sliced cucumbers and sauce. They have options for seaweed or soy wrap. The seaweed has about 10-12 seconds before it loses crispiness. Edamame was well cooked and lightly salted. Very clean restaurant and fast service. There was only 1 chef making the rolls at the front for about 20 people and the other servers either cleaned up or served drinks and other dishes. We went around 12:30pm on 4th of July and were seated right away. Outdoor seating is available but for a hand-roll bar, it's always best to sit at the chef's table. Sen cha had light tea flavor and a bit of sweetness to it. There was a timer to inform you when the tea had steeped. We got - sunomono - seaweed salad - Brussels sprouts - avocado cucumber roll - 3 roll set IMO no need to get both cucumber and seaweed salad, they have the same seasoning and the seaweed salad contains the cucumber already. We ordered the brussels sprouts, spicy albacore on crispy rice, and the 6 handroll set per person. I loved that there was a spicy option for the handroll, and I really enjoyed the extra crisp from the Korean seaweed paper they use for it. Definitely a nice extra touch!
