Ever since I discovered this place in while in college at UCLA, I've been taking friends here nonstop. This is one of my favorite sushi places in LA because of the diverse menu without outrageous prices. The place itself is also cozy and they seat you in japanese sinking tables, which adds to the ambiance. After practicing model walking with My Mom for an upcoming fashion show in early October, the six of us in the family went to Tsukiyo Sushi for lunch. We had dinner here on September 7th and really enjoyed the food and friendly service, so we decided to come back again. We asked my niece what wanted to have for lunch and she said she loves sushi, especially salmon sushi. She said she could eat it every day and would be happy to eat it 365 days a year, so we all decided to have sushi. Since I had already ordered the 12-piece sushi set here on September 7th, I decided to try the Bento Box this time. My dad and I each ordered a Bento Box, which comes with miso soup, salad and allows you to choose two proteins. I chose marinated beef and chicken karaage and my dad chose salmon and marinated beef. I chose fried rice, and he chose white rice. My Mom ordered the Lunch Special Sushi Set, and I was happy to see that they offer the lunch special on weekends, too. The lunch special was $24.99 for 10 pieces of sushi, while the dinner sushi set was $34.99 for 12 pieces. One of my brothers ordered the same lunch sushi set as My Mom and my other brother ordered some kind of spicy stew with clams. My niece ordered udon and 4 pieces of salmon sushi. Since there were six of us and there wasn't an outdoor table large enough for six people, we sat in one of the tatami rooms. All of the food was delicious, and the service was very friendly. However, there were a couple of things that were a little unpleasant. Right after my food came out and I was about to start eating, I noticed a bug that looked like a mosquito flying around right in front of me, which was a little uncomfortable. After we finished eating, I went to the restroom and noticed that there were no toilet seat covers. I told a server who was walking by, and she asked me to wait a little. However, it took so long that I eventually just had to go into the restroom without one. My Bento Box was also very generous in portion size, so I was completely full and couldn't finish everything. I asked for a to-go box and brought the leftovers home, although I still haven't eaten any of them yet! Before leaving, I asked the same server for a plastic bag, and she kindly gave me one. She also told me that she had gone to look for the seat covers for me, but by the time she came back, I had already gone into the restroom. I smiled and told her, "Yes, I kept waiting, but you didn't come back," and then we left. When we first arrived, I told the hostess that we had six people, and she said it would be about a 10- to 15-minute wait and that they would call my name when the table was ready. Since I wanted to quickly stop by the hair salon across the street to show them my hair and make an appointment for a magic straight perm, I asked if they could text my phone when our table was ready, just like they had done for me before. She asked for my phone number and entered it into the system. She also told me that once they sent the text, I would need to arrive within 10 minutes or the reservation would be canceled. I told her that wouldn't be a problem. While I was at the hair salon asking about the price, I received a text saying our table was ready. I called My Mom and told her to go inside with my niece and everyone else first. When I got back to the restaurant, everyone was already seated in the tatami room. Overall, the sushi was fresh and delicious, and the Bento Box portions were very generous and tasty. The marinated beef was a little tough, though. The service here was very attentive and friendly. Chanced upon this restaurant since we happened to be in the area at 4pm on a Monday and were hungry for dinner. There's a small parking lot and since we came at off-peak times, there were quite a few spots available. However, I'd imagine the lot gets crowded during peak times as I saw valet parking available by a different restaurant. Service was excellent and our waiter was very patient in explaining the menu and recommendations to us as it was our first time. We also got a private room which had a 2 hour eating time limit but that was plenty for us. Sushi set dinner - Excellent value, delicious and fresh fish, not too much rice. 12 pieces in total for the dinner set, comes with a miso soup and salad. Recommended Rolls Royce - excellent handroll that was super decadent with tuna and uni. Will order again. Scallop and Oyster crudo - Delicious and super fresh oyster. Will order again. Smoke bomb - this was a little gimmicky and came smoked with applewood chips. It adds a little bit of flavor to the ikura but overall it was an okay dish. Will probably skip. Fresh nigiri - this was good. Fresh fish, generous cut. We also ordered another roll but I forgot the name - it had fried onion topping. This roll was good, but didn't impress. The fried onion was good but overall the roll was a little on the plain side and I wish it came with a bit more sauce. Nonetheless, the meal was excellent and value was great. Will definitely be returning again as it's such a gem. Came to dinner with my partner on a Thursday at 8pm. I thought the restaurant would be crazy full but fortunately for us they had seating available. They asked if we wanted sushi counter or in the traditional Japanese seating that's floor seating. We opted for sushi counter because I know my legs would be cramping after 20 minutes of floor seating lol. The server greeted us upon seating down and asked if we wanted water. Everything taste so fresh and seasoned very well. The service we received tonight was amazing. I think I just found my favorite sushi spot in LA. I've eaten here twice in one week and somehow managed to order almost everything on the menu. Going in, I didn't have the highest expectations since it's a Korean sushi restaurant, but I was completely proven wrong. The fish is incredibly fresh, clean, and well prepared. The quality honestly rivals places that charge two or three times as much. I've been to Nobu, and I'd pick this place over it any day. The individual pieces are very reasonably priced, which makes the value even more impressive. The atmosphere is one of my favorite parts. It feels like a small hidden sushi spot you'd stumble upon in Japan. I especially love the seating area in the back where you take your shoes off. It makes the whole experience feel cozy and authentic. Service is quick, friendly, and efficient. The drinks are fine, but the food is the real reason to come. Even the appetizers are generous. I ordered the tofu and squid legs, and there was already enough food to share before the sushi even arrived. Every time I come here, I end up overeating because I want to try everything. That's probably the best compliment I can give a restaurant. Parking can be a little crowded, but there is street parking nearby. If you come at the right time, you may be able to avoid dealing with valet altogether. Great food, great prices, great service, and an atmosphere that keeps me coming back. Came here on a Friday around 6pm and it was already packed. It's a small spot tucked in the corner of a plaza. They even have a Yelp Top 100 2026 sign so you know people are coming for it. We put our name down and waited about 30 minutes before getting seats at the sushi bar. We were starving so we ordered a lot for just two people. Started with the 12 piece chef's special nigiri which seems to be what everyone orders. For the price and quality it's a really good deal. We also added extra pieces like black cod, sweet shrimp, and scallops. Everything tasted fresh. The Tsukiyo roll was solid, clean and crisp. The uni pasta was super rich and creamy with a strong uni flavor. One dish that surprised me was the oden. Huge portion with a lot of fish cakes and a really good broth. The monkfish liver was excellent and came with ponzu jelly which was a nice touch. The Rolls Royce handroll (uni, amaebi, toro) was one of the highlights of the night. Super rich and loaded, hard to go wrong with that combo. I also got the saba bozushi which I liked, but it does have that stronger fishy flavor Iykyk. Overall everything tasted fresh and I can see why they got that award. Even though it was busy, service was still solid and we were taken care of. Honestly, not worth the long wait. Staff weren't very friendly and service is slow. Their menu doesn't list all of the ingredients and they don't bother to ask if you have any allergies. This is a serious issue and can cause a lot of harm! The complimentary edamame was nice. We got a few different nigiris, which were all really good. The rolls - mehh. Most of the roll options have fake crab in it, which I guess would explain how the rolls aren't as expensive as other places. We got the Bengal Roll (came with mayo on it, which was not stated on the menu, and we had to send it back because I can't have mayo. Was good, but nothing special) and the Aburi Tuna Roll (came with wasabi hidden away and I hate wasabi. It ruined the entire roll for me and I had a hard time enjoying anything after because I couldn't get rid of the flavor). What an unfortunate time.
