Let me just start by saying, I love this place.. We have been visiting this wonderful establishment bi-weekly for over a year now. Between the rotating menu of over 40 beers on tap to the free popcorn and wonderful servers, we have not even thought about looking elsewhere for a neighborhood bar. Pros: Many Big TV's always tuned to Chicago Sports/ ESPN, Amazing Monthly Rotating Tap, Friendly Wait Staff, Fun Local Pub feel. Cons: Well.. This bar is great. It has a great, low-pressure, sort of neighborhood bar feel to it, and the service is great. Pros: -You can nearly always get a table, even on a Saturday night. The place is always an appropriate level of crowded - enough so that you can talk to strangers and have a good time, but not stifling. -Every time I go here, I am always a little drunk after two drinks, no exceptions. -The prices are reasonable. It's not a dive bar, but it's not too pricey. -I've always had great service. I have celiac disease, and the bartenders are always considerate of that. Con: -The only reason I deducted a star is that in their menu, they lump the fruit-flavored beer in with the cider. I don't mind that they don't have a gluten-free menu, but I could totally see an already tipsy me ordering a fruit flavored beer thinking it's a cider and the next day I'd be super sick. This is a pretty cool place. I was here to watch the Kentucky Derby a few days ago, and really enjoyed myself. I was really surprised that the prices are pretty low. Considering that this is the beginning of Yuppieville, I'd expect higher prices, but they keep it pretty fair. They have an extended menu of bottled beers including a couple of my favs: Samuel Smiths Oatmeal Stout and Youngs Double Chocolate Stout. The only problem that I had was that the bartender was really snotty and rude. She also couldn't pour a proper Guiness mix (I had Guiness and Cider, and she screwed up all 4 of them, unapologetically). It was only her 5th day bartending there, but that doesn't make a difference in wether or not you know how to pour a drink, and EFINITELY didn't give her a right to have such a crappy 'tude. I'd go back here, but would try and steer clear of the particular bartender I had before. read more

I was here on Obamarama election night to kick things off, and it was a great choice, as there are no less than 7 giant flat panel TVs above the bar. What's bad about that? Well we had to get a group of people together to CONVINCE the bartender to at least change 2 out of 4 of those 7 screens from SPORTS onto something that actually matters - uh, there's an election going on buddy... can we maybe view something about it from various station's biases? Thnx. ANYWAY, $3 drafts, or so I hear, AND you can bring in your own grub from across the street of down the road or over the tunnel or through the woods. They're pretty laid back and easy going like that here. However not being into sports, something gives me the impression that on a game night this place would be my worst nightmare. read more

We were looking for a place to grab a few drinks & kill time before dinner after arriving in Chicago that morning. We stumbled upon Kasey's tavern while wandering the streets and still trying get our bearings. It looked cool, so we gave it a try. It's a great little place with lots of beers on tap and a great selection of bottled beer as well. My boyfriend tried a few different beers on tap and liked them all. After asking for a suggestion for a "girly beer" the bartender presented me with heaven in glass. When she opened a bottle of "Wild Blue" beer and proceeded to pour it over ice, I was a bit skeptical, but she told me to trust her. The purple drink hardly tasted like beer and more like a blueberry cocktail, but nonetheless delicious and went down way too easy for a drink with 8% alcohol. I loved it so much I immediately looked to make sure I could buy it at home. If we find ourselves in Chicago again, we'll definitely be back. In the meantime, I'll settle for Wild Blue at home! read more

Let me preface this review by saying, I am getting old. Nights out on the town showing up at a bar after already drinking most of the evening are few and far between. But that's the state I was in when I showed up at Kasey's last Friday night. It had been my first time in Kasey's since 2005, when I used to spend a lot of my time in Printer's Row. I remember them having a relatively adequate food menu with sandwiches and such, but I guess this is no longer. We arrived after having spent a couple hours by the lake drinking wine and eating cheese while watching the July 3rd fireworks. We were now looking for a bar to continue the drinkery and maybe eat some foodery, so as to avoid the inevitable sickery. So, no more food menu. BUT! They had popcorn (free). I love free anything. Especially if it's delicious and edible. We had popcorn. Then we were told they had PIZZA!!! And it wasn't even Tombstone. It was better than Tombstone (is it possible?). Perhaps it was my inebriation but that pepperoni pizza was taaasssttty. The crowd was typical of Printer's Row. Mostly white, mostly early 20s-30s. No one outright douchey, though. A few art students, but hey, they are only obnoxious in their manner of dress. The drinks were.... well, I was drunk. I don't remember. They had a lot of different beers, and if I recall correctly, a good amount on draught. And, I do recall the shots. My loser friends ordered me Rumplemintz (SERIOUSLY?) and a Kamikaze. No wonder I don't remember anything. Except the pizza. I always remember food. I want some now. Service was decent considering the crowds. Prices were reasonable, too. I'm from Vancouver, BC and did I make the right choice with Kasey's Tavern for finding local craft beer. Damn. 34 on tap another 30 bottled. Everything from fruity, lambic flavours to carzy dark and crazy hoppy. Chevy was a very informed bartender. He knew exactly what to reccomend! I would be back here for sure to try some more options when I come back! I highly suggest this place to get a taste of some mid-west beers. read more

I've had such mixed results from Kasey's that I honestly do not know how to rank it. I've given it 2 stars because when it's good, it's very good; but it seems to have poor service too often so it doesn't get more. The atmosphere and location are great. There are a number of places to get food from and bring in. They have a great selection of beer and when they have deals it is very reasonable. I just hate their service more often than not it seems so I can't justify a higher grade. I'm sure I'll be back, but every time it is further and further apart. read more

I was looking for a place to watch March Madness in the South Loop since the person I was meeting was coming from the north side and I was coming from the south side. We decided to meet at Kaseys. Parking was super easy to find on a Saturday afternoon. It is street parking so you get to shell out money to the parking meter company. Kaseys is also not that far from the red line. Kaseys has a great beer selection and a decent setup for watching sports. There is not a ton of seating but I was able to find a table. They don't have food at the actual bar but you can order in takeout. read more

Great little dive bar, in a great area of town. They had extensive selection of draft and bottled beers, many micros and imports. They do not serve food at this location so if you are looking for a place to grab some munchies with your drinks this will not be a place that will work for you. Great bar area and tabels. We've been a regular at Kaseys for awhile. Recently, we had 2 friends in wheelchairs who wanted to come have drinks with us. Kaseys was our immediate go to but they don't even have a wheelchair ramp for them to get into Kaseys. Since we have a fair amount of friends/family in wheelchairs, we are pretty passionate about wheelchair accessibility. As such, we won't be back until this is remedied... which we are pretty bummed about. However, there are plenty of options in the neighborhood that are wheelchair accessible and we will choose to support those that are. read more

Kasey's was a decent enough place to stop in between the auto show and dinner a few weeks back. When I planned a valentine's day of fun for me and the mister, I mis-calculated the amount of time we would want to spend at the auto show, and we were left with a few hours to kill before dinner. Neither of us had been to the Printer's Row area before, but were happy to see a casual bar such as Kasey's to grab a few drinks before heading up the street to Sofi for dinner. I was impressed by the beer selection at Kasey's! I was surprised by the fact that they did not serve their own food, but impressed with the fact that Hackney's will deliver to them, not bad! I had a few Crabbie's ginger beers, while my other half tried a few different somethings. The bartender was nice and not pushy, and was also ready to go with suggestions when we were undecided on what to order. Kasey's Tavern was awesome, reminded me of my friendly neighborhood pub back in New York. Met some really cool locals, some Chicago born and bred, others who migrated here a few years ago. Had way too many drinks. Chatted with cool bartenders who let us take pictures with our travel gnome-style pink dinosaur all over the place. (Yes, we're those people.) After dinner, we decided to have a drink someplace close. A few of us remembered, this one was very close to the red line. Typical bar. Long and narrow. It was crowded which is a good sign. Being in Printers Row, the crowd was young college students. A few of the regulars were a bit older but all meshed well with no issues. We stayed long enough for 2 drinks due to it being late and the majority had to drive back to Indiana. But from what we had, the drink was good. I am happy to call Kasey's my bar. Granted, I live a block away, but it's at Kasey's that I choose to hang out with my friends, or grab a quick drink with my girlfriend. The beer selection is pretty darn good, with a good mix of domestics and imports (I'll never forget the gleam in the bartender's eyes when I ordered a Kwak). Of course, if liquor is your thing, Kasey's is fully stocked and ready to serve. The staff are warm, courteous, and extremely chill people. They'll wait on you, make suggestions, and generally be really patient with you if you're indecisive...good thing for me. I also love the atmosphere. Kasey's feels like a great neighborhood bar, and you feel comfortable the moment you walk in. It's not too loud, so you can chat with friends fairly easily. Given the amount of TVs in the joint, it's easy to comment on the sports that are nearly always on. Bottom line: I drink at Kasey's, and you should too. See you there. read more

Definitely a neighborhood bar with a friendly atmosphere. I came around 9 pm, while there was a game on all nine flat-screen TVs above the bar (plus the projector screen). Everyone was really into the game. After the game, they changed the TVs to all different stations. The bartender was very attentive, and the tap-selection was phenomenal (nineteen beers!). I had the Gumball Head and Two Brothers Imperial Stout. I had never had these beers before, so I decided to give them a whirl. I ended up not caring for either of them very much--maybe I should have played it safe and just ordered a Guinness. Meh, I guess now I know. If I had kept trying other beers, I am sure I would have found something else I liked. Take note that they don't serve food here, so if you're have the munchies, you'll want to order in from someplace (they have menus from other places at the bar). read more

Great chilling neighborhood bar just like Yelpers said. Got a beer on draft per bartender recommendation. Was more bitter than I like. She wanted to replace it but by then, I didn't want more beer; just wanted water. I wasn't feeling too good (not anyone's fault). She was very nice though and didn't charge me and wanted to get me something I would like. So I give it a very good rating which for me is a 4 star. Would go again definitely. ps. I was looking for a low-key bar to just grab a drink and sit down after a full day of walking around. I checked Yelp and saw that right nearby was Kaseys. Well of course I had to check it out as we share the same name! This place is a total dive...and it's totally awesome! I sat at the bar and the bartender was absolutely lovely, suggesting beers, checking in, and just generally being pleasant. The two beers I had were delicious and I keep hoping I can get them back in Boston (I even took a picture of the beer list). I also loved that even at 3 o'clock in the afternoon the place was filled with people just hanging out. I don't know much about the neighborhood but it was definitely a pretty diverse crowd age-wise. They didn't appear to serve food but I saw that someone had burgers delivered and the guy next to me said he orders pizza and brings it in. Gotta love that! My experience is obviously limited but I enjoyed my experience here and will be back. My only regret is I didn't buy a sweatshirt. Next time I guess! read more

Chose Kasey's due to the beer selection listed on-line and it did not disappoint. Great variety of beers on draft although no pumpkin beers this time of year was a little disappointing, but found 1 in a can to start off with and it was good to go. Shared a couple beer flights (5 for $10) and sampled some winners and losers. Finished the night with an Allagash White. Service was incredibly friendly and efficient. Only 1 server working the tables and bar on a Monday night and she did a great job. Add bonus was the food. They serve the restaurant down the blocks menu. They add a $2.50 fee, but well worth it. Had the guc a chips, fish taco and buddy got a burger. Fish tacos were huge and the chips were some of the best ever. Burger got a thumbs up too. Next time I'm Chicago, I'm going back. read more

Solid no-frills neighborhood sports bar with great beer selection. We had a few hours to kill before a wedding and headed to Kasey's to grab a drink and watch some college football. I tend to be gentler on decent places that manage to exist in the Loop, but Kasey's I would love regardless. It is nice and dark the way a bar should be, but still feels clean. The bar is GORGEOUS, the 312 tap looks like a phone. There are a lot of TV's, but they're all above the bar and generally quiet, and prices are reasonable! Plus given the Printer's Row neighborhood, the patrons are both casual and diverse, so don't worry that you'll be the only working man in a group of college kids, or vice versa. Kasey's serves as a sort homebase for me. Their prices are about average for the area. They do have great summer specials. The beer list is more than better for a place such as Kasey's. If you are any kind of a 'hop head,' you will be happy. The atmosphere is really friendly. They always throw whatever game/show you request on one of the flat screens. I love Kasey's! Fantastic beer selection and super friendly servers. It can get a little loud and crowded on game days but they also have a nice little sidewalk patio outside. Until recently it was dog-friendly inside, but now dogs are only allowed on the patio. They will even bring your dog a bowl of water and a biscuit. Definitely worth a visit. read more
