Came here for a late dinner with my friends, and we all tried different things. I got the spicy ramen with straight noodles and level 2 spice, which had a really good kick. The broth was flavorful, and I especially liked the chashu. I just wish the egg was more soft-boiled since mine was a little overcooked. My friends tried the wavy noodles, yuzu ramen, sesame cold noodles, and karaage chicken bowl, so we had a little bit of everything. The service was really nice, and everyone was helpful when we had questions about customizing our ramen. I also liked the interior because it had a cozy ramen shop vibe. The only downside was the cleanliness--our table was pretty sticky, and we noticed an ant and a fruit fly, so I definitely think the dining area could be cleaned a little better. Overall, I thought the prices were reasonable for the portions, and we had a good experience despite having some mixed opinions on the food. I would come back, but I'd probably try something different next time!

Tried this spot after trying a sample of their chicken broth at a Yelp event and absolutely loved it. My family got the garlic karrage, black garlic ramen, and spicy miso ramen. We all got the chicken broth since I like it so much! The karrage was so flavorful, juicy, and crispy- a definite must order! The flavor of their broth is so yummy and it's so hard to find a spot with tasty chicken broth. I want to come back to try their original chicken broth as the sample I tried was so good. They provided extra chili oil when requested which made my ramen taste even better! The space is a little bit on the smaller size but doesn't feel claustrophobic. The staff constantly checked on us and fixed a small mistake they made very quickly. They were very friendly and patient with us as it took my family some time to decide that they wanted. The ordering process was simple as you mark the things you want on a small paper. Excited to have found a new great ramen spot in the area and will forsure be back!

We had the pleasure of getting to try ramen with this vendor at the Sake Fest Phoenix yesterday. We got the Tonkatsu Ramen and it was delicious. The staff were very friendly and the service was fast. My husband and I shared the ramen and it was the perfect complement to the sake tastings.

I came here for the chicken Ramen because I had tried this at an event that featured samples of their food. I was so impressed that I had to come back and buy some takeout. I live in Gardena and this place is in Costa Mesa. It was well worth the trip. I need to come back to this place to try their other offerings, Service was quick. Ambience is really cute.

I keep coming back for the Tsukemen because it's just that good! I love the rich dashi/pork broth and the noodles are always perfectly thick and chewy.

We had a great time here. We came here with a large party and it was a great decision. We started with the gyoza, they were some of the best I have ever had. The skin is thin and crispy. The filling is plentiful and delicious. For my main I got the black garlic ramen - with tofu, pork broth, and wavy noodles. It came with a perfectly done hard-boiled egg. I usually like to add some kind of vegetable but this time I kept it simple. The black garlic is not too strong, very smooth, and a little sweet. The tofu is lightly crisped on the outside, a very nice touch! The decorum around the restaurant is super fun and really enjoyable to look at. I kept finding new things to be excited about during my meal. The service was attentive and friendly, everyone was happy to see us.

Kashiwa Ramen is a casual ramen shop in a plaza with other stores and restaurants. There is ample parking. Came here with some friends on a Friday evening and it was busy but we were able to get a table easily. We all ordered different ramens. I ordered the Black Garlic Ramen with a mix of Chicken and Tonkotsu broth, pork meat, wavy noodles, green onions, and wood ear mushrooms. One of my friends ordered the Yuzu Shoyu Ramen and the other ordered the Malatang Ramen which is a winter special. Our food came out quickly. Portions seem to be on the smaller side. The Black Garlic Ramen had good flavor and was pretty garlicky. The noodles had some chew to them. It also came with half of an egg and three pieces of Chashu. I tried the broths of the other two. The Yuzu Shoyu was light in flavor but the yuzu comes through. The Malatang Ramen was very spicy, and my friend ordered the Mild version. Our server mentioned that people who order the Spicy version more often than not cannot finish it because it is too spicy. Overall, giving Kashiwa Ramen a 4/5. This is a solid place for ramen. Would recommend to others and would return.

Saw this place on tiktok and decided to give it a try! This place looked delish and it ended up being delish :) Service was friendly and I liked that the restaurant had both bar and booth table seating... felt quite cozy, especially on a cold autumn night! The ordering process was smooth and I thought it was smart to have us order via paper + highlighter as we were able to customize our ramen to our liking, from the type of noodles to flavor to any add-ons. We ended up getting the black garlic ramen and spicy miso ramen: BLACK GARLIC RAMEN The taste of the broth itself presented a unique and beautifully layered assortment of flavors that made the entire experience much more mesmerizing than other ramen I've had. I opted for the wavy noodle option, and I believe that was the correct choice as it provided a nice and firm bouncy texture!! The pork chasu was roasted nicely and was tasty as well! -- 7/10 SPICY MISO RAMEN Awesome, but not great!! I think I've had better in the past, but this particular bowl did not stand out to me... it was perfectly spiced, but lacked the depth of flavor that the black garlic ramen provided. It almost tasted flat!! -- 6/10 Parking was easy to find. Overall, good solid ramen place.

Delicious ramen! The spicy miso ramen with pork is my favorite. It is rich and flavorful. There is usually a very small wait and the service is fast and efficient. It's a small intimate restaurant and is my go to ramen spot. Would recommend trying it out!

I've been around this area for so long but only just now am I trying Kashiwa Ramen! Going inside, the seating area is not large, and off the bat, I couldn't get seated with my family because the 2 high chairs they have available were already taken by another family. Thankfully, they had a booster seat available to have our child sit on. We ordered a miso ramen, a spicy black garlic ramen and a gyoza for our appetizer. The person taking our order was patient with us as we ordered even as we were dealing with our toddler. Our requests were accommodated respectfully and to the best they could! Upon first glance, the gyoza looked good, like it was a family recipe and made from scratch! The spicy garlic ramen had thick, and a tasty looking broth and the portion sizes for the ramen looked like decent enough for the price. The taste for the gyoza was good, but the spicy black garlic ramen definitely stole the show! The broth was the perfect level of savory with a delicious blend of garlic that wasn't overpowering along with the pork broth. The chashu was incredibly tender and flavorful and the ramen was cooked perfectly - *chefs kiss*, amazing! Another reason that helped me decide on eating here was that there is a student discount for OCC students! Definitely cool that the local business is supporting local students! I had a great experience eating here with my family - the food was delicious, the staff was helpful and it was joy!

Honestly surprised how many high ratings this place has. The food itself was alright, your standard ramen, nothing too unique. Being a foodie and having tried many places, I would probably not come back here for ramen as there's plenty of better options. The service itself was terrible. The server looked like she didn't even want to be there, and when asked a question, looked extremely bothered. Honestly the service really ruined my experience here, they need to find more friendly staff. The menu itself was pretty outdated and disorganized. One server told us the items on the wall were different than the menu, but another server said it was the same and to just mark it on the paper. Very confusing. You have the option to choose the firmness of the noodle, and I asked what the standard is. The staff said they didn't know, and just walked away. Yes, its a cute cozy restaurant with plenty of parking. But would not come back just for ramen.

Excellent depth and flavor in each and every bite here. The broth for both malatang and black garlic ramen is really extraordinary today. Really enjoyed my fresh hot deliciousness of Authentic Hakata ramen from Japan today. Especially after the beautiful rain a nice salty flavorful bowl of spicy ramen hits all the high notes of my day. Come back and enjoy the taste of Costa Mesa with the OG Kashiwa Ramen soup noodles. You will fall in love all over again and again.

Kashiwa Ramen Reviews in Other Languages

Ask the Community - Kashiwa Ramen

What kind of broth do you have?

    Hello We have Tonkotsu (pork)…

Been here multiple times, but sometimes tsukemen is served with 3 pieces of chashu, other times served with 4 pieces. Anyone knows why?

Thank you for your question. It depends on the size of the char-sui. Usually, 3piecess adds up to a total of 120-150 grams. However, sometimes the chef puts four pieces when it is small pieces. Sorry for the confusion

Is the gyoza chicken or pork?

It's only chicken and pork. No one or the other

Is the vegetable ramen low carb?

Not if you get the ramen noodles...

    Is there vegetarian options?

Yes they have two vegetarian options. In fact they have Vegan options.

    Are they serving tsukemen now?

Yes, we have chicken broth Tsukemen serving w/ authentic thick noodle. FYI I'm sorry, but we are out of thick noodle tonight 1/17, however we will sure have tomorrow. Thank you.

Is the broth only made of chicken ? No pork bone or anything right?

Yes, we use only Chicken bones not pork bones at all :) and for Combu (Kelp) broth, we use Combu and Shitake, no fish or bonito. Thank you.

Do they have gluten free noodles?

No, not that I've seen on the menu

Are there vegetarian or any vegan options?

Yes, there's a Kombu Ramen which made of seaweed.

This wasn't just a "ramen joint"--it was a masterclass in authentic Fukuoka-style soul food. The Broth: Liquid Gold The standout was always their Signature Tonkotsu broth. You could literally taste the 30+ hours of labor that went into it. It had that distinct "frothy" texture (the bubble of the bone marrow) that you only find in high-end Hakata shops. It was rich, creamy, and carried a deep umami funk without ever being overly greasy. The Hits * Black Tonkotsu: The roasted garlic oil (mayu) added a smoky, dark complexity that ruined all other garlic ramens for me. * God Fire: For those who like to sweat, this offered the perfect balance of heat without sacrificing the integrity of the pork flavor. * The Karaage: Genuinely some of the best fried chicken in the area. Of course we got the karaage; I was JUST thinking about the best karaage I had in Japan as I ordered it, wondering if it would compare. It did. Piping hot with juices that exploded in your mouth and burned your tongue. It was perfect. I personally loved it just with a squeeze of lemon on top and the seasoning was also... just amazing. Everything about their shabu shabu soba blew my mind. I personally was craving soba so they substituted it for a dollar. Definitely worth it because WOW their soba was tender, slightly sweet, and seriously was on par to the same exact dish I had in Japan, a niku soba. I also tried their udon noodles. It was so bouncy and chewy and not at all overcooked. I kind of liked the very firm and chewy bite to them, slightly slightly undercooked because as you eat it, the noodles will become softer. That is my preference and they did it here. Their dashi broth was slightly sweet and very umami, yet light at the same time. I couldn't get enough. They also do not charge for hot barley tea here! I wanted to eat more, but my stomach was quickly expanding and I had to take the rest home and it healed me just as much as it was fresh. I will be back very soon.
