Was looking forward to eating here because I've bookmarked it for the next time I was in Newport. No lines. They had tables available but we were asked to wait outside while they cleaned up a table for our party of 3. So while I was waiting about 5 min, I walked over to a food court next door. Friendly people. Lots of choices. Walked back to HiroNori. They still didn't have our table ready. Still no lines. Still saw empty tables. We decided to cancel. They asked for our name. I said, "We weren't asked for our name." So guess what. We left and went next door. Sorry HiroNori. I am removing your bookmark.

I got my order to go since our group was meeting at the food hall at the end of the building. I had crispy rice with spicy salmon, cucumber crab salad, and chicken. Everything was very good and service was fast. I really like eating at the restaurant since the presentation of the food is nicer. I'll be back when our group meets again.

We finally had the time to come in and spend some time dining in! Once we walked in, the staff immediately sat us and asked if we had any allergies! I love it when the service is absolutely incredible before food comes to the table. Of course, I had to go for my large pork belly rice bowl with their complimentary spicy sauce. My partner ordered their shoyu ramen and absolutely loved it. The broth is impeccable and it pairs so well with their noodles. I wish I had a Hiro Nori closer to my area so I could keep enjoy some savory goodness!

I feel kind of bad writing this because the place seems popular but I genuinely don't know why. I would not go here for ramen. Seated 15-20 minutes in, but server was not that attentive. Small menu and nice decor though. Food came out maybe 10 minutes after we ordered which was nice but the ramen genuinely had no flavor. Broth no flavor at all, noodles not a good chewy texture, the most flavor I got was from the bamboo shoots. I found more flavor in the fries I got in the food court next door because this meal wasnt fulfilling Eel tempura buns had more flavor and big eel portions but buns were cold and not that fluffy. When we went to pay they also preemptively put in a 17% service charge. They explained it was optional and could be undone but it was strange to see it was highlighted and put on the receipt in the first place

Came back after a long time Service warrants five stars. The server was exceptional. She heard me tell my friends the music is loud and she turned it down. She even let us split the check by item among multiple people Very kind and friendly and really attentive. It's a small place but they did a great job 3 stars for the food I got the vegan ramen and appreciate the fact that hiro nori was one of the first ramen places to offer vegan ramen years ago I feel like the broth lacked salt and so was pretty in flavorful. I tried to add hot sauce to it but it still tasted bland

Had to check this place out after seeing all the amazing reviews, and they definitely did not disappoint. We got there just before the rush, which was perfect. It is a small restaurant, but I loved the aesthetics and it was quiet enough to actually enjoy a good conversation while eating. The service was great and the food was even better. We ordered the tonkatsu ramen and the broth was different from other tonkatsu ramen I have had. It was super thick, rich, and packed with flavor. We also got the chicken bowl and it was loaded. The chicken was grilled perfectly, juicy and not dry at all, with a slight char that added so much flavor. Definitely a spot I would come back to!

Whenever I'm craving ramen, Hironori Craft Ramen absolutely hits the spot. I love that you can choose between thick or thin noodles depending on your mood -- both have the perfect texture and bite. I usually go for the tonkotsu ramen with spicy sauce and garlic paste on the side. The broth is incredibly rich and creamy, with that deep pork flavor that tonkotsu lovers crave. Once I mix in the garlic paste, it adds an extra layer of boldness and warmth that makes every spoonful even more satisfying. The crispy rice is also so good. The bottom is perfectly golden and crunchy, giving you that addictive crackle with every bite, while the spicy salmon on top is fresh, flavorful, and slightly creamy. The crispiness of the rice and the heat from the salmon balance each other beautifully. I also ordered the pork bao, and it was soft, fluffy, and pillowy -- the kind that almost melts in your mouth. The pork was tender and well-seasoned, with just the right amount of sauce to keep it juicy without overpowering the bun. Overall, it's always a comforting and flavorful experience, and it never disappoints when I'm in the mood for a satisfying bowl of ramen.

A bit of a time wait + friendly service + ample parking! I love that they offer the option for a vegan ramen and while I prefer creamier broths, the shoyu ramen was good. Will try the tonkotsu next time.

    SHOYU RAMEN
    Emerson Y.

Shoyu ramen is really good. It's a clear broth that is really meaty and full bodied while being much lighter than a creamy tonkatsu. Price was on the high end but still acceptable, note that 17% gratuity is automatically included but it's clearly stated on the menu and the hosts explicitly ask you if you want to opt out when paying. Just the ramen came out to ~$21 after everything. Service is really friendly too :) make sure to sign up for the waitlist before arriving too, seating inside is limited and there was a ~15 min wait for a party of 1 on a Sunday evening.

    EEL TEMPURA BUNS
    Ray N.

If you came here and you only got the ramen, it would be well worth the trip. I cannot convey how good the broth is: I sipped a spoonful before I tucked in, and was blown away by its depth of flavor. It tasted like it had fully imbibed the roasted pork bones into a rich, umami, mother liquor. It tasted like a pure fluid of pork goodness, not a mixture of ingredients or a suspension of briefly boiled pork bits. The noodles are also impressive: great thickness and chew, and their waviness helps them soak in that god broth. The charsiu is also impeccable: broiled on the outside, but containing the right amount of fattiness to melt on the tongue. The sides are also quite good. The green salad has very fine and fresh ingredients, and its size is substantial. I really enjoyed the unagi tempura buns: the eel has a tenderness and fattiness that I prefer to the shrimp tempura bun version I've had at momofuku. But to be clear, the ramen at this place is next level. It's noteworthy to have ramen this good in the US, and I am very grateful to have had the chance.

    TONKOTSU RAMEN

Ordered: tonkatsu ramen and crispy chicken We came for an early dinner and we were quickly seated without a wait. The service was good, there is an optional service charge already added to the bill that they highlight to notify you. They were attentive with refilling water and the food came out quickly. The crispy chicken was slightly crunchy yet extremely soft and super juicy inside. The tonkatsu ramen is truly crafted. I've never had noodle so bouncy and chewy. The broth was creamy yet so light. My soy marinated egg, spinach and bean sprout were great toppings to break up the heaviness of the broth and char sui.

    CRISPY RICE WITH SPICY TUNA
    Kristen S.

Fantastic RAMEN, Worth the HYPE! We joined the waitlist ahead of time through their website, and the whole process was smooth -- they texted when our table was ready and seated us right away when we arrived. This location is pretty small, you are sitting pretty close to other tables but it gives that warm comfortable feeling! My husband and I decided to try one of each ramen: I ordered the tonkotsu and he ordered the shoyu. Both broths were incredibly flavorful, rich, and comforting -- and they even offer their house spicy sauce to kick it up a notch! Every spoonful was delicious and perfectly balanced. We also shared the crispy rice with spicy tuna, and it did not disappoint. The tuna was fresh, seasoned beautifully, and had just the right amount of heat -- a perfect starter to our meal. We already can't wait to come back and try more from the menu!

    Chloe L.

Hironori is always so consistent and this location is no different! I went with my usual and everything tasted perfect and of course, the garlic was definitely the best part of this meal. They have a really good system for their waitlist so I definitely recommend using it to avoid the long lines that start to accumulate around 6:30 or 7 PM. Will definitely be back!

Ask the Community - HiroNori Craft Ramen

Is the vegan ramen broth gluten free?

No, the noodles and broth have gluten

Do they take big party around 14 people?

    Yes

Is the chicken bowl made with chicken karaage or chicken teriyaki? Will it be possible to order the chicken as a topping or substitute to pork?

    You can choose.

    Do you take reservations?

There is a wait list you can access from the HiroNori web page.

I have allergies, do you have a allergy list? I am allergic to eggs, nuts, and fish.

I do recommend calling in. They have all of these in most, if not all, their dishes.

Do they take reservations for outdoor dining? Was thinking of coming here tonight

No, they don't accept reservations. There's a waitlist you can join. Also, there's only 1 table outdoors. The restaurant itself is pretty small

    Any low carb noodles?

I didn't see anything on the menu so I don't think so but you'll have to ask restaurant specifically about it but there was nothing on them

Does any of the broths contain shellfish/seafood?

Unsure but I know most are pork based broth!

    Do serve halal meat?

Its not halal, the broth is pork

Any gluten and soy free options?

Unsure, but it's like asking to take the Asia out of the Asian 😂.

Can I make a reservation or add myself to the wait list?

You have to show up in person to add yourself on the wait list and all the people in your party have to be at the restaurant in order to be seated (at least based off my most recent experience). Hoping they may allow us to do Yelp waitlist to check…

    Is there vinegar?

    Yes

    Gluten free options?

Yes, if you get the ramen without the noodles & extra bean sprout. It's delicious!

Why does your current menu and website state 15% service charge for dine in and 5% for to go orders but when you actually look at the receipt it is 16.1625% for dine in and 5.3875% for to go orders?

Since it is a mandatory service charge it is subject to sales tax which is 7.75%.

When is the Irvine Center blvd location opening?

Hopefully at the end of January 2021

How spicy is their spiciest ramen?

There is not really a "spicy" ramen. They have their homemade hotsauce, which they give you on the side, which, in my opinion, is as spicy as sriracha.

    Are they peanut free?

I believe so. But please confirm with the server

Are they busy saturday around 3pm to 4pm?

They're always slammed. It's beat to join their waitlist. Well worth the wait. Always.

Extra Pork vs pork chasu? What's the difference in the toppings menu?

Except the vegan ramen, all of them come with pork (pork and cha shui are the same). If you select cha shui in the toppings menu, you'll get an additional portion of cha shui…

What is reason for the abrupt "temporary" closure of the Irvine location only?

Probably from the re-shutdown of the Dine-in?

This wasn't just a "ramen joint"--it was a masterclass in authentic Fukuoka-style soul food. The Broth: Liquid Gold The standout was always their Signature Tonkotsu broth. You could literally taste the 30+ hours of labor that went into it. It had that distinct "frothy" texture (the bubble of the bone marrow) that you only find in high-end Hakata shops. It was rich, creamy, and carried a deep umami funk without ever being overly greasy. The Hits * Black Tonkotsu: The roasted garlic oil (mayu) added a smoky, dark complexity that ruined all other garlic ramens for me. * God Fire: For those who like to sweat, this offered the perfect balance of heat without sacrificing the integrity of the pork flavor. * The Karaage: Genuinely some of the best fried chicken in the area. Massive, juicy thigh meat with a shattering, thin crust and that addictive spicy mayo on the side. * Customization: I loved that they let you pick your noodle firmness. "Hard" was the only way to go to ensure that perfect snap with every bite. The Atmosphere The Costa Mesa location always had a great energy--functional, clean, and unpretentious. The staff were always efficient, greeting everyone with a loud "Irasshaimase!" that made the experience feel truly authentic. It's heartbreaking to see such a high-caliber spot leave the neighborhood. If you were lucky enough to eat here, you know we lost a heavy hitter. To the team at Ikkousha: thank you for the memories and the best bowls in the city. You'll be sorely missed! Note: For those still craving that specific broth, their Torrance locations are still holding it down--definitely worth the drive to keep the dream alive. Come back to OC! !

It's a little tight inside too with the tables located near each other. We came on a Monday during the lunch hour. We originally had plans to eat somewhere else, but it was too long of a wait and we decided to have Ramen instead. I think due to our party of six, it was a little harder to be seated, but it wasn't a big deal. We checked in and we were informed by Justin that it wouldn't take too long for our table to be ready as the other family who was at the larger table was already eating their food. Great! We meandered around in the center and walked inside Daiso and Mitsuwa market and already thinking about where we would be eating next time. We received a text when our table was ready about 30 minutes later. The nice lady who took our order was friendly, sweet, smiling and made us feel welcomed. We all ended up ordering different Ramen bowls, and curry with rice. We also shared the large fried chicken and furikake french fries. I'll have to try that at home next time! Everyone enjoyed their choices. I tried the light Kitakata ramen this time because I usually always get miso or Tonkotsu. The light broth was easier for me to handle and I was able to adjust the spice level with condiments on the table. I also used some of the chili spices from my family members. As usual, the chewy bouncy noodles were enjoyed by everyone. We will be back!

We were told to just sit in the corner. No one talked to us. When I asked for a straw, it was kinda just thrown at us. More upsetting was when I was ordering, I just asked for a large mentaiko mazemen, which would just be a $1 increase charge. The waiter read it back as a deluxe mazemen which is a $2.50 charge and comes with extra stuff that I didn't really want. I corrected him and he said that the large is a deluxe, which I believe is incorrect based on my past times coming here and ordering the mazemen. I didn't fight him anymore because maybe I was wrong, but it came out and it was in fact the deluxe. Overall, the food was delicious as always. I am sure I will be back again, but it was extremely disappointing and frustrating dining experience.
