    Housemade Gyoza
    K ..

One of the best ramen places in OC! (Top 2 for sure!) We had the Tonkotsu Ramen, Gyoza, Spice tuna roll, and they had teriyaki chicken wings as a new menu item which I really hope they keep!! As it turned out to be the best part. The ramen was incredible. Super rich and concentrated broth with a nice sear and intense flavor in the chashu pork. We added a few soft boiled eggs which were absolutely flawlessly cooked, the best I've ever had tbh. The gyoza had a nice crispy bottom and were so shockingly juicy inside it felt almost like a soup dumping! The sushi roll was also packed with flavor and a nice heat. It was really the teriyaki wings that stole the show. Again, ridiculously juicy with a nice crunch on the outside, the sauce was insanely good! Sweet, rich, garlicy, umami - all the best flavors. Service was excellent, everyone was super nice and the food came out quickly and hot!!! It felt made with love and skill. The only thing is that it was a bit bright inside the restaurant but then again I am sensitive to light. Otherwise the layout was nice and specious and full of medium and small booth options. Overall we cannot wait to return and bring friends!! :)

Had ramen tatsunoya after one of my Pilates and it hit the spot! I got spicy miso and it was great, the addition of the black ear fungi added that crunchy textures. I wish the broth was a bit more flavorful because it tastes kind of bland. However, service was amazing and the servers were very attentive and talkative. Would definitely come back!

Ramen Tatsunoya was really good! We quickly had to maneuver after another restaurant was having some type of issue so we were lucky to find this one. Cute place inside and not bad for being in a strip mall. The service was excellent and the ramen hit the spot and both broths were very good. The gyoza was also very good and the prices here are very reasonable.

Favorite ramen in the area. Jun tonkotsu, has a lighter broth, lighter in flavor. Koku tonkotsu is more popular and richer in flavor. If you love spicy they heave a spicy miso. And if you like curry you must try the curry tonkatsu- it is excellent!

This place is not too bad. The service is great and the ambiance is relaxing. I will say the food is fresh. The Tatsunoya Roll, would never get that again. Not my cup of tea, over did it in the mayonnaise. 2/5. The spicy miso ramen was good. Everything is perfect. 5/5. The tonkatsu ramen is like any other generic ramen, but they hook it up with broth and noodles. 4/5.

So amazing! Convenient location, speedy service, easy to see and understand menu, great great food. Vegan ramen was heavenly!

Some of the best ramen I've had I'm a long time. It was approximately $17 for the Spicy Miso Tonkotsu, $2 Egg, $3.80 for the Mexican Coke. . There was lots of open seats and plenty of parking since it is in a Plaza. I will definitely be back!

I visited Ramen Tatsunoya on a weekday night and was able to be seated right away. The ramen was delicious and genuinely reminded me of my visit to Japan. The broth was rich and flavorful, leaning a bit on the heavier side but still very satisfying. The staff were extremely kind and accommodating. We were able to order spicy paste on the side, which made it easy to adjust the heat level to our own preference. The interior has a standard, casual restaurant feel. If I'm ever craving authentic ramen in south Costa Mesa and don't want to hop on the freeway, I'm going here.

The mountain - special that day

We tried the restaurant on vacation in Newport. The menu is overall simple with the ability to add to each of the ramens. The broth is flavorful and the noddles nice and chewy. We each had a different kind of noodle in our soups with the spicy miso having the yellowish ramen ones people often think of. It was fairly spicy so not good for anyone that doesn't like heat. My husband had their special, which was called the mountain and was a larger portion than the other soups. Restaurant is nice and clean. We got sat quickly and service was efficient. It is in more of a strip mall area near Target so parking isn't an issue. It's more walking to the place you need to be careful for cars turning and going straight.

I tried this place back when I was in Japan and the lines were SO long over there. Finally getting a chance to try it here! I got the Spicy Miso Tonkotsu Ramen and shared the Spicy Tuna Roll with my boyfriend. The broth was rich, creamy, and not too spicy. I added in some spicy to adjust for my liking, but also didn't want to compromise the flavor of the ramen broth. The chashu slices were THICK, filling, and packed so much flavor. There was a special going on for the Aojiru Green Tea. With purchasing one, we were given a box to take home. I loved how refreshing it was paired with the richness of the ramen broth. It tasted like green tea!

This is honestly in my Top 3 Favorite Ramen Joints ever! On this visit, I've enjoyed the Koku Chashu-Men, a rich broth, extra chashu pork version of their signature Tonkotsu Ramen broth. According to their menu, the rich broth is made from pork fat, umami paste, and garlic oils, and it was delicious! Great ramen with thin noodles that was warm, comforting, and didn't leave you defeated at the end. The chashu pork is also super tender, with the fat melting in your mouth completely. The Gyoza was also pretty solid as well; great presentation with the dumpling skirt, which I love. I previously had the lighter Jun version of the broth and it's solid as well! The service and staff were friendly and fast! Our food didn't take too long after ordering to get to our table. I also love the decor and the ramen-shop vibe in the shop. Definitely check this ramen joint out!

We came during their one-year anniversary where they were running a $1 ramen deal. Parking was easy in a plaza and waiting time was around two hours. Place is small, but warm and inviting. The servers are also super sweet and greet you on the way in despite being busy. 10/10 Koku Tonkotsu ($1): Rich and creamy, just like how the name suggests! So good and super filling. Noodles and chashu were cooked nicely. 7/10 Spicy Miso Tonkotsu ($1): Skip this and just go for a Koku/Jun tonkotsu. It wasn't bad, but doesn't hit the spot as much as the Koku does. Thank you Ramen Tatsunoya for the deal! :)

My friends and I went to Ramen Tatsunoya for their 1 year anniversary! We waited in line for about 2 hours but the staff was super efficient in letting guests come in and out! The ramen was super umami and good! We also got gyoza dumplings as an appetizer! The dumplings were plump and juicy! The filling had pork and vegetables! They also had a promo which if you bought the green Aijoru drink you would get a box free! I would recommend this to anybody who likes a good ramen spot! TIP: There's 2 restrooms in the back, one has a sliding door and more wheelchair accessible and one is smaller but still functionable! There's also ample parking and is in a plaza!

A Legendary Slurp - Gone But Never Forgotten It is a true…read moretragedy for the Orange County food scene that Hakata Ikkousha in Costa Mesa has closed its doors. This wasn't just a "ramen joint"--it was a masterclass in authentic Fukuoka-style soul food. The Broth: Liquid Gold The standout was always their Signature Tonkotsu broth. You could literally taste the 30+ hours of labor that went into it. It had that distinct "frothy" texture (the bubble of the bone marrow) that you only find in high-end Hakata shops. It was rich, creamy, and carried a deep umami funk without ever being overly greasy. The Hits * Black Tonkotsu: The roasted garlic oil (mayu) added a smoky, dark complexity that ruined all other garlic ramens for me. * God Fire: For those who like to sweat, this offered the perfect balance of heat without sacrificing the integrity of the pork flavor. * The Karaage: Genuinely some of the best fried chicken in the area. Massive, juicy thigh meat with a shattering, thin crust and that addictive spicy mayo on the side. * Customization: I loved that they let you pick your noodle firmness. "Hard" was the only way to go to ensure that perfect snap with every bite. The Atmosphere The Costa Mesa location always had a great energy--functional, clean, and unpretentious. The staff were always efficient, greeting everyone with a loud "Irasshaimase!" that made the experience feel truly authentic. It's heartbreaking to see such a high-caliber spot leave the neighborhood. If you were lucky enough to eat here, you know we lost a heavy hitter. To the team at Ikkousha: thank you for the memories and the best bowls in the city. You'll be sorely missed! Note: For those still craving that specific broth, their Torrance locations are still holding it down--definitely worth the drive to keep the dream alive. Come back to OC! !

The person taking our order was patient with us as we ordered even as we were dealing with our toddler. Our requests were accommodated respectfully and to the best they could! Upon first glance, the gyoza looked good, like it was a family recipe and made from scratch! The spicy garlic ramen had thick, and a tasty looking broth and the portion sizes for the ramen looked like decent enough for the price. The taste for the gyoza was good, but the spicy black garlic ramen definitely stole the show! The broth was the perfect level of savory with a delicious blend of garlic that wasn't overpowering along with the pork broth. The server Kendrick tells me they do, but scammers show up with the exact order confirmation screen and pick up orders. Honestly sounds like BS to me, considering they have pickup orders by the front door on a shelf that anyone could take. Either way, the lack of an immediate apology or questions to clarify just point to the fact that he assumed immediately I was a scammer. Okay, annoying. But whatever. I want my food. I ask to have it remade - they're still seating people and people are ordering. They're not closing anytime soon. He tells me they won't remake it. I ask why and he continues to insinuate I'm a scammer and a thief trying to pick up someone else's order. He tells me to cancel my order. I'm beyond pissed at this point because I can't even get a refund via DoorDash because it's already being prepared. So I go back and talk to him again. He continues to refuse to cancel the order or remake it. He gets on the phone with a "Peter" who he claims is the manager. It gets really fun from here. Peter listens to my story and says there's nothing they can do. He says scammers do that all the time, and every restaurant deals with it. Okay, so how has it never happened to me at ANY restaurant? And how have I NEVER heard of it happening? So Peter, after refusing to do anything for me for a while, finally says he'll talk to the server to try and cancel the order from their end. Fine. I hand the phone back to Kendrick and he walks inside. I wait 7 min and no updates. So I go inside and ask him if he's canceling the order. He says, "what do you mean?" I tell him the manager said he'd tell him to cancel the order. Kendrick says, "he was telling you to do that". More gaslighting lmfaoooooo. I tell him no, he told you to. Again, I'm pissed beyond belief at this point and again, I can't get a refund via DoorDash because it's already "being prepared". You would think saying that 3 times is enough for them to finally get it but no. I wasted 20 min driving here, and another 25 waiting for a resolution for this BS. Kendrick tells me he can't cancel the order twice. I just ignore him and wait. 3 min later he goes "I canceled it". Like... you guys are acting like I'm the scammer when you clearly are the ones trying to pull some shady stuff. I FINALLY get my refund and Kendrick says, "sorry I just work here." Brother, that's not your line. You say that when, for example, corporate has a policy that no one likes. This all stemmed from you and your team's incompetence. The lying and gaslighting is absolutely crazy. 25 min and they either could've just refunded me or remade my order. A waste of time. I'll never visit any Slurpin again - this was just pathetic. Not a single bit of sincerity or willingness to help. The manager sounded like he was tired of talking to me, and our conversation lasted 2 min (I'm not even exaggerating). If you want food, don't go here. If you want to keep your money, don't come here. However, if you want to be treated like a liar and a scammer from the second you walk in, then this place is perfect.
