I have gone to this Kaspers since I was a little girl (over 30 years). Over the years the service has not been amazing, but they still served the same food you came back again and again. Last night was a different story- The service was the usual dissatisfying experience, but as usual we got the same items on the menu 3 hot dogs with various different toppings of choice between myself and my kiddos. By kiddos are some what hot dog connoisseurs and I have never seen them spit out a hot dog so fast. I took a bite if mine and it was awful. The bun was not steamed and warm, but actually hard at the ends and the hot dog itself was gritty and tasted expired. It had a sour taste. NEVER AGAIN. MY HOT DOGS ARE COLD. THE MAN TOOK THEM OUT WITH HIS GLOVES ON AND THREW THEM ON A DIRTY COUNTER TOP. I asked for mustard he just sloped it on the cold dog directly not even the bread. The cheese didn't even melt it's so cold. I ordered a tamale and he took it out the package and seriously DUMPED it in a box straight up and down in a pile like dogfood!!!! I love Kasper's hot dogs. I have been to a few locations. San Leandro locations are probably my favorite. Aside from the bad parking lot it has, the hot dogs are just as good. And as always there was an old lady making my lunch for me. She was colorful in her behavior but she saw that I was with my daughters so she gave them quarters for the gum ball machine. I ordered 1 hot dog here two weeks ago, and took two bites and threw it away. It did not taste good at all and was cold and not cooked. In about a day or two, I started having diahrrea. two days of continual diaharrea developed into flu-like symptoms and that lasted for 3-4 days. Horrible. Two weeks later now I am still experiencing chronic diahrrea daily, night sweats and general fatigue. I'm about ready to go to the hospital for antibiotic but I think I'm recovering. Friends. Casper's with a K as in Kaspers sucks in comparison to Casper's but, if you eat here their 1/4 lb dog is what I recommend. They use very little condiments whee as Casper's is very generous. I recommend the 1/4 lb hot dog with extra mustard, relish, normal jalapeños and cheese. If u don't ask for extra everything is light. read more

This is the firs time, I've ever had Kaspers or Caspers. Now I know I don't need to ever have it again. This location is dead, devoid of any hot dog cultural or history, save for a few black and white Kasper photos. They keep it classy by serving chili dogs in half-cut styrofoam boxes. Chili is warm and it tastes like it came from a big can of Costco chili. The standard government cheddar cheese doesn't melt. The dogs have a slight snap but it's flavorless, it's hopeless. read more

I've been a regular customer for many years. I must have made a big mistake tonight. I arrived right at closing time - I didn't realize they were staying open until 8 pm. As soon as I approached the counter, the woman (who I'm sure recognized me, started yelling me in less than understandable language. Took me a minute, but I figured out from her, and her customers, that it was closing time, she had food for the people who had already ordered, but no more. The whole thing should have been handled with no drama. If she had been the slightest bit polite, I would have gladly understood her problem and simply left. She is RUDE, and I'm gone. I recommend the owner put a little time and money into cleaning up the place. I don't think it's been remodeled in the 25+ years I've lived in Concord.; In the unlikely event I need another Kasper's hot dog, I'll drive to the Pleasant Hill store, which is clean, well-maintained, and cooks quality food with polite and friendly service. She didn't smile once , no customer device at all and she actually just went in the back room the whole time after given me food. How do people not give this place more stars. It's a staple of Pleasant hill. Reasonable prices and just plan good food. Been going here for years and I miss some of the staff that is no longer around but the newer staff is doing a nice job. I'm sorry you must come here when your in the mood for a good hot dog. Last night around 6 my boyfriend, Marty Turcios, a disabled man who teaches golf at Cal Berkeley and does so much for our community, tried to order a meal. The older woman who has a thick Eastern European accent refused to serve him and ordered him out of the restaurant. Marty showed her a $20 dollar bill and then she finally agreed to make a hot dog for him. She kept yelling at him that he could not be there by himself. Then while he was eating he began to cough, which is a symptom of his disability, at which point she said she was going to lock him in the restaurant and call the police. She then took his tray away from him, not allowing him to finish his meal. Marty got up to leave and she kept yelling at him all the time that she was going to call the police because he could not be in there by himself. She followed him all the way to his van and as he got into the driver's seat she started screaming that he could not drive. He waved by-by to her as he pulled out and drove away. This is not Singapore, where disabled people are kept in "facilities" so they cannot disturb the "normal" citizens, this is the USA where disabled people are allowed to eat in public! Please teach this person that US citizens have a right to eat, even if disabled. Marty did nothing wrong, he simply ordered a meal while disabled! Shame on her and whoever let her serve the public! read more

It's a classic. Come in not expecting much and you will be satisfied. The hot dogs are good, steamed which I prefer. Also, it's the Kaspers with a K not a "C" which is a difference. This is the original Kaspers and I will always favor this one. read more
