Came here for the korean style corndogs this past Sunday. Service was fast and friendly, and there was plenty of seating available at the Sunvalley mall food court. We went to Koko fried chicken and we got the potato and mozzarella stick. It was OK. I felt like it was spicy and it shouldn't have been. I didn't think the person working behind the counter was all that friendly. I did really appreciate all the different sauces that you could put on the Potato mozzarella stick and you didn't have to pay extra. Very excited to have Korean cheese dogs right here in the food court! I didn't even know this place was open lol. Haven't ate in the food court in awhile and was surprised they sold cheese dogs here! We usually get our cheese dog fix in Berkeley, but they close early and it's always a wait. This is very convenient to get if we're shopping at Sun Valley and need a little snack. We ordered the potato mozzarella with no sugar or any other coating. We were taking it to go, so we asked for spicy mayo on the side and the lady in front was able to give us small sauce containers to go. The service was really slow though. There seemed to be only two people working. We thought we were the only ones that ordered because there was no one around the establishment. This review is specifically for the Korean corn dogs. They have 8 different varieties. 5 different sauces and 4 seasonings. Most places charges extra for the sauces but here you can get as much as you want. We both ordered the potato mozzarella. I had Parmesan as my seasoning and my daughter had sugar for her seasoning. After a quick trip to Forever 21, I was in need of fuel. When I made my way over to the food court I was surprised to find this place. Korean Fried Chicken and their hotdog on a stick. Now I have had an amazing experience at a place like this in Berkeley. I can just see and taste the hotdog goodness now. So of course I had to try it out. I wouldn't say this place is better than the one at Berkeley. But I would say it is still pretty good. I had the Mozzerella & Sausage one. The batter around the cheese and sausage was so good. A nice mix of crunchy and soft to melt in your mouth. I think they could have cooked the whole thing a little longer. Something about the sausage tasted a wee bit undercooked. Also a must have is the sugar on top with spicy Mayo. There's something about that contrast of mild spice and sugar that works so well. I really want to try their fried chicken now. KOREAN CORN DOGS ARE FINALLY HERE!!!! I've been here 3x now since they've opened, cause fat is life! They're downstairs in the Sunvalley mall food court, in between iSlice and Plus 82. There are usually two workers, one handling the cashier and saucing your food, while the other preps and cooks the corn dogs. They have fries and fried chicken on the menu but it still isn't available :( The first time I visited, they had to refund me because their batter was not the right consistency to fry. They also gave me the wrong corn dog, which I gave back. They didn't seem to believe me when I said they gave me the wrong one, so I watched them tear it all apart to see what was inside (It was sausage, I ordered all mozz). They did comp me with a free peach soda which was soooooo delicious btw. My personal fav is the all mozzarella corn dog. I've had the half cheddar/mozz and the half mozz/sausage corn dog as well, but the all mozz one just hits different. If you love cheese, this is the one for you! Just so you know - cheddar doesn't give you that super long cheese pull that's IG worthy, but it is very tasty since cheddar has more flavor than mozzarella. Once your corn dog is done frying (about 5-7 min average wait time), they will ask you what seasonings and sauces you'd like to go with. Traditionally, you'd have it rolled in sugar however they also have honey butter and cheese seasoning that you can opt for instead (or in addition to). Don't be scared of having it rolled in sugar. American corn dogs already have the sugar mixed into the batter, these do not. You need the sweetness otherwise it won't taste as good! After the seasoning, you sauce the bad boy up! I love ketchup and cheddar sauce on mine, cause sweet and savory is my jam, but you do you! I've noticed that with the all cheese corn dogs, they don't stay up on the stick very well. The stick just slides around, maybe because the batter doesn't coat all the way to the end ? Or maybe because it's all cheese? Not sure, but I've had all cheese corn dogs from other places that were sturdy enough to hold straight up. So just keep in mind, you may not be able to hold the corn dog up with just the stick alone. Only 4 stars because they've been open about 3 weeks now, maybe 1 month and they STILL don't have their full menu up. All their employees have been very nice and friendly, however my last experience made me feel really bad for one of the workers. Her partner ditched her to go flirt with some boys in the food court, and she was left manning the cash register, cooking the food, and saucing/serving them to the customers. She looked really stressed and overwhelmed. Her coworker definitely was not on a break because the girl working asked her to come back several times during the rush. I didn't get her name, but 5 stars for the nice young girl who held it down while her coworker was being a floozy lol I hesitate to write this because i don't want my new fav place to blow up and wait times become hella long, but it's my duty to spread the word! BTW - Current Covid mandates do not allow visitors to dine in the food court, unless you have proof of vaccination. They had security checking vaccine cards before allowing you to sit down. They do have some seating right outside for those who are not vaccinated, or who do not have proof on them. Otherwise, there's ample seating and a restroom available in the food court for use. The menu offers a variety of corn dog choices such as original, beef, rice cake, potato, mozzarella, and more. After they prepare your order, they also have an array of condiments that they can top off for you and also give the option of covering it in sugar--which is quite common for Korean hotdogs. The young man working the counter was very nice and helpful. I was the only person in line and he let me know that it would take about 5 minutes to fry the 2 mozzarella and sausage corn dogs. With the mozzarella and sausage corn dogs the entire top half is gooey cheese and the entire bottom half is the sausage. Though, I was surprised that the cheese wasn't throughout the entire inside of the corn dog. When it's fresh, they do come out extremely hot, so wait a minute or so before digging in. Korean cheese dogs are lit. I've tried store bought fish cake dogs prior to trying this food stand in the food court. My personal recommendation is the cheddar and sausage corn dog. So when I found out that there's a spot that has BOTH at my local mall's food court, I was beyond excited to try it out!! I ordered a mozzarella potato corndog and my mom ordered the rice cake corndog. We wanted to see what they tasted like by themselves so all we got was some honey mustard on the side, no seasoning. My potato mozzarella corndog was delicious and I got some very satisfying cheese-pulls out of it (lol not pictured, but just trust me!). My mom thought her rice cake corndog was just okay. It's not just all meat on a battered dipped stick. It's an over all different take on what we here know as a corn dog. Unless you go to a County or State Fair, what you may have had was just..standard. Not with the "Korean Corn Dog" they even make the "Fair" corn dogs seem boring. An overall different take on something most Americans should be use to, but taken up a few notches. Kinda like Lou Ferrigno playing the Hulk vs Mark Ruffalo playing the Hulk if you get my drift.
