This place is indeed a hidden gem - We were in town for a bowling tournament and heard about this place. After driving 5 1/2 hours and day filled with craziness we were ready to freshen up and find some good food. Katana is not an easy place to find and you not believe it if you saw the parking lot. We did not come this far to let a plain not exciting view to deter us. Where was the crowd? They were ALL INSIDE THIS PLACE! Yes the servers were direct and pointed however they never left a table unattended and the food was plentiful hot and ready. Imagine a near capacity place servers ready to keep things moving. And if you have to question the price - don't come with nothing more than an expectation of enjoying good food. Forget the haters who talk about bossy waiters and overrunning toilets. Wow. Just wow. I have eaten at a lot of Asian buffets and even when they are okay I'm fine with it. But this one - EVERYTHING I ate was delicious. We were on our way back from Columbus Ohio and I was sick of American food. Mama needed some Asian cuisine. We found this on yelp and laughed that since it was CANTON it would have good CATONese food. Ha! Well the sushi was good, even their dumplings (which are NEVER good on any buffet I've ever been to) was good, the soup was good, their American food was loved by my 5 year old. . .the price was great. The lunch time deal is fantastic. Where can you get a hibachi style you pick veggies and protein plate, cooked to order, along with sushi, a fruit and salad bar, Chinese and a few Americanized dishes and ice cream dessert bar for less than $8? The hibachi plate is the way to go. Select from steak, chicken, shrimp, or egg, plus a nice selection of veggies. Cooked while you watch. Sushi looks fresh and the steam tables with all kinds of Chinese also looks fresh. Crab Rangoon and pot stickers are favorites along with the sesame chicken and fish. Tables are not huge and neither are the booths. Good for all size groups and kids. Dinner is crowded but we found the late afternoon lunch on Black Friday to be surprisingly u crowded. read more

Did I go to the same place that all these reviews were speaking of??? I'm confused. This is supposed to be a Chinese Restaurant. However, there are 2+ full bars that were full of Americanized food.... Including a roast beef rump, sweet potatoes.... Among other things. I was disappointed ppl. Truly. It seemed well stocked, and we went around 8 tonite. But I have to say, I don't understand what all the hype is. Unless--- it's another " place to go mindlessly gorging myself " kind of attitude. We have been to this buffet quite a few times since it has opened. It has a very wide selection of sushi. There are many soup options, an entire bar of salad, an entire bar of fruit. They have many typical Chinese type dishes with many other choices. Since the closing of ichiban we had been driving to fairlawn to yellow tail to get a sushi buffet fix, so we are very happy to have a good quality place close to home that is even better then both of those restaurants. read more

Ate there today with my family...food was ok but service was horrible...Asked to sit at an open booth and the grouchy frowning waitress said no...they are all full...had to point out several open booths before she would allow us to move all the while scowling. We were really disappointed in our experience today and will not return. The staff are rude and seem annoyed at having to serve people. Let's face it , all they're doing is clearing plates and refilling drinks. Yet, they seem to have an attitude about it. The host sat an African American family at a table and when they asked for a booth instead he told them, no booths left. There was a booth that just needed cleaned off and he still told them no. They would have to go back up and wait for one. Someone finally cleaned off a booth for them. Two more African American families were being told to sit together even though they weren't there as a group. It seems clear that there is discrimination going on here. Not to mention our server ignored us and when I finally flagged her down to ask for a refill, she sticks her hand out and waits for me to hand her the glass rather than just pick it up herself. So rude. Horrible service and the food is average at best. And the sad part is that they don't care enough to improve. read more

Certainly lots of selections. Hibachi, Asian, American, Sushi... Nothing extraordinary, but lots of choices. Average taste, properly cooked. Since there are so many selections, I could not possibly try everything but those things I did try were adequate. Nothing to write home about but worth the price if you're not looking for top quality but tasty. I doubt I'll be back but I am a food snob. We came from out if town for a funeral. Lunch cost almost 40 dollars for 3 adults and a child and there were about 30 of us. The man that seated us was rude and yelled at us. It's back and forth with this place. Sometimes it's great, others, like today, it's not so good. I decided to do hibachi today, so I load up a plate and hand it to the guy. While I wait I decided to grab some sushi and take it back to my table. Knowing hibachi takes a couple minutes, I sit a moment and talk to my mom who is dining with me. We're seated near the back (despite there being tons of seating towards the front) at a booth that's missing it's overhead light bulb. I go back to check on my hibachi, and the cook hasn't even moved it once. His back is to the grill and he's texting on his phone that he's keeping hidden under a towel. He turns, flips my food around once, then hands it to me. So one side of my food is scorched and the other is barely done. Not the best experience today. read more

It was great a few years ago but now it is disorganized and not that good. I went here a few years ago and I thought highly of this buffet as the better variety. This time it was not good. We were told to go to the back with our receipt after paying and they said no go back to the front. Then we did and again we were skipped by the overwhelmed server. When she came back she asked why we had a receipt and we were just given it, I don't know -- to prove we paid? So she runs to get some forks and says something that could not be positive to the people at the register and seats us at a table. The food matches most of the reviews below, low quality and not worth the price. The items were the atypical buffet items and I did do the hibachi and thought it was tasty. The heavy tatted guy though who was wiping the floor and picked up food pieces and threw them back into the trays killed any desire to return. As we were leaving, I did not have cash but the server was standing there looking at us indicating where to place a tip. Well considering we literally got seated and one drink, a tip is potentially feasible to be skipped but she said we take credit card so I handed her my credit card and she got her tip. I went here for the first time with my family after my aunts funeral. Though it was not a happy occasion I was very pleased with ALL the different options of dishes they had to offer. That visit was a bit of a blur...fast forward! Have now been back about a half dozen times and I don't even live in Canton. Have taken family and friends. Lunch is awesome for about $13 per person ALL in...tax, drink and tip and all you can eat is amazing!! Everything is good and fresh and the place is clean. By far the best Chinese buffet we have ever been to. I don't know how this place escaped my notice for so long! Very inexpensive; about $7.50 for lunch and $10 for dinner.
