We have ordered food from Lucky Star Express many times over the years. The restaurant is only take out and the staff is all business with little interaction other than giving our order. There is no ambiance, but the place looks clean. The food is reasonably priced and tasty but ordinary. It is not unique but good enough for Canton. They are sure taking COVID serious here. They have plexiglass up everywhere and a little "bank like"drawer to put your payment in and get your food from. That being said, some of the dishes were good. I liked the roast pork loin Mein, Szechuan tofu, and General Tso's chicken. The sweet and sour shrimp was mostly batter and a little shrimp. The wonton soup and the hot and sour soups needed more flavor. They were bland. Service was fine. They even called me back to say they were out of the fried scallops. I was intoduced to Lucky Star by a friend who lived in China. He loved this place. I love American Chinese food and apparently this place is the right balance between the two bc I also love it. I am hooked on the pan fried dumplings. I usually get the beef or chicken and broccoli. Yummy and flavorful. Fresh veggies that arent mushy lumps. My friends love the wonton soup. My nephews love the noodles and sesame chicken. My mom loves the pork fried rice. It's all good. Service is a tad slow because they make each order fresh. No steam table with heat lamps. I can remember when this was a very good place to get Chinese takeout. I ordered one of my favorite dishes. Hot and Soup. The soup was very dark in color, it had very little taste, if at all. The restaurant looks even more run down than before. Due to COVID-19 they have moved all of the tables and chairs to one side of the restaurant. This is so no one dines in, even after so many other restaurants have open their doors for customers to dine in. There are storage and supply boxes in visible site of the dining area. It's very closed off and uninviting. I am very disappointed in the food, and I would not recommend this restaurant to anyone at this time. Be This was a staple in the Plain Local Community, if they don't care enough to make it any better, then they do not deserve to be in business. They are serving subpar food, their hours of operation are erratic and not dependable. When I called to see if there was pork in the vegetarian meal, they said most people request pork in it (I did not). My daughter wanted Chinese after her soccer game for lunch, so we went here. The place is very low-end dinerish, clean but nothing fancy. It's the food that I really can't stand. I usually like some pan fried dumplings, we couldn't finish them and didn't take them because they were awful. We both got the General Tso's chicken, and it was super sweet, my daughter finished the left overs, but I couldn't eat more than a few bites. I don't think you can really review rice, but the fried rice wasn't anything special. The spring roll also wasn't worth finishing to me. Walsh University students getting take outs and the folks not wanting to BBQ waited anxiously for Asian cheap eats. This evening you could tell how busy they had been as ever table in the place had dirty dishes covering them. New dish mango chicken sold only in quart fashion, no combo plate, had a hefty amount of fresh mango. The chicken broccoli combo plate that includes pork fried rice and veggie egg roll was delicious. We've lived in North a Canton for 5 years now and have tried many different Chinese restaurants but have left disappointed every time. Every one we've tried has been lacking in one area or another. I love Chicken & Broccoli, my wife loves Pork Mei Fun and my kids love Sweet & Sour Chicken. This place nails all 3 of them! I feel like a weight has been lifted off my shoulders. Lucky Star honestly is the best Chinese food in the area. The staff is very friendly. I am a regular there and they know my typical orders and really will add whatever you want to your meals to make the experience better. For example, when I order their hot and sour soup I always ask for a lot of broth because I really like the broth and they will make that accommodation, or if I order mei fun I will ask for it extra spicy with garlic sauce on it. They do that and do not charge extra. It is consistently good. I would recommend trying Luck Star over even some of the more expensive Asian food places. read more
