Found off the 601 highway next to the Dollar store, I read mixed reviews on the Yelp site and selected it due to a central meeting location and ease of parking. Seating was pretty spaced out, and the menu is pretty simple. Chicken made the Katana way along with mixed vegetables and yum yum sauce was the pick. The food came out pretty quick, chicken pieces were cooked well and seasoned but in small amounts. We got some sushi and udon noodles. Our food was excellent and we got the food relatively quick. The servers were all very friendly and attentive to our table. I love Japanese fusion and I love this chain. Decided to drop by and was impressed with how fast I was seated and the friendliness of the staff. I got spring rolls and teriyaki chicken with broccoli and sweet carrots. The spring rolls were amazing and blazing hot when they came out. Thanks for that! The main course was good. I can't say super excellent but I also can't complain either. The dish is a perfect serving for chicken and rice. The broccoli was over the top stacked but the sweet carrots were not plentiful. It was just a small side serving and I would have loved to had more of that and less of the broccoli. But again, it was still a good plate. The folks here are great and since Salisbury is "cheerwine" founders, you can get cheerwine to drink which I totally love. Ordered a salmon skin roll, a spicy tuna roll, and another tuna roll with tuna ontop instead of flounder! This establishment does not read the special instructions on orders. And they drench rolls in so much sauce you can't taste the sushi for what it is. When called to explain the situation and when ask for a refund the disrespectful worker would not assist. By FAR THE WORST sushi restaurant in Salisbury. Absolutely disgusting, and will not EVER come back. And recommend other to do the same. Typical American Japanese restaurant. There is not a lot of fusion going on from what I read in the menu. Hibachi and sushi taste the same as other Japanese restaurant. They do have 3 different type of sauce for hibachi you can pick from. You have your regular soy base, then there is a spicy sauce and a teriyaki sauce. I ordered the chicken lettuce wrap and a chicken with white rice and veggies, soy sauce, yellow mustard and chopsticks , I got the chicken lettuce wrap and a small box of grilled chicken, nothing else. I tried to get Dashdasher Hunter but could not reach him. Called Katana and the girl said I only order a side of chicken. Total bull. First I would never had ordered just a side of chicken for close to $9.00 and I actually typed in I wanted white rice, soy, yellow mustard and chopsticks. So, I told her to enjoy the money since she just lost a customer! Do not do Doordash from Katana, they rip you off. Almost $30 for a lettuce wedge, some diced chicken and a small box of grilled (very dry) chicken. NEVER AGAIN...and I fully intend to tell everybody about my negative experience with them. read more

Ordered to-go online. The restaurant never accepted the order so the pick-up time kept getting later and later. They still had not confirmed my order when I showed up but my food had been ready and waiting for who knows how long. When I got home there were maybe 5 pieces of chicken in my normal sized entree. First off, I want to say that I have been going here for about 2 years and only during my lunch because it is close to my job and I I live far away from my job and this establishment. I will not say anything bad about the restaurant, because, for what it is, it does the job. However, I will be honest about the service and quality. I have not had many interactions with the staff, so I can not say they have bad customer service, but I will say that they have diminished the amount they give for to-go orders and in person orders. Just recently, I ordered a terriyaki Shrimp entree, and I had 10 shrimps, a whole bunch of brocoli, and one scoop of rice that was really small, and barely any carrots. The shrimp sauce they gave me was in the box with the food and it took up more space then the rice or the other portions I was paying for. It was all $14 with tax included. Why am I paying more for the same food I always get, but getting less? If they changed their portion size for monetary reasons, maybe be up front on your website. But when your photos advertise a whole spread but your delivery is nothing close, it will be misleading to customers. Also, if I order a shrimp entree, I expect more shrimp instead of a brocoli entree with a small side of shrimp and rice. The shrimp dish is not the first time I have had this happen. The similar issue has shown up for other meals I have ordered and it has turned me away from this place. I only bought my food this time from here only to give them another opportunity to see if they changed and it had not. Then the taste, it was nowhere as good as the time I started going more frequently almost two years ago. The rice was watery, the shrimp was rubbery, and they piled stuff in just one compartment of my to-go box to make it like there was a lot of food, but when seperated, it barely made a meal. I found another japanese place about 2 miles away that have similar options of food, for cheaper, portions are a lot better considering price I am paying, and they taste better. I am not saying to anyone who is reading this that they should not try Katana Fusion. I encourage you to test it out for yourself and see if it is to your liking. As for me as a person who has been choosing this as my go to Japanese inspired cuisine of the area for almost 2 years, I am moving on. I usually do not write reviews, and I do not want to speak negatively of any establishment, however, I felt it was important to share to others who may be experiencing similar issues and wanting to know if it is just them or is it an all around issue. I gave this place 3 strikes and they disappointed every time. The floors are as clean as a gas station bathroom, my wife was standing with me to pay the check at the register and she stuck so much to the floor she almost fell over when she freed herself. Katana has a very tasty selection of sushi. They don't have a whole book to choose from, but their options are better than your basic roll. Perfect bite size and great combination of flavor. Love their hibachi plates, but we mainly come here because of their Kimchi fries! Perfect amount of spice and goodness! Kimchi fries and a sushi roll is just about all I need! The ginger salad dressing is good too! Love their daily sushi specials. I'd be I trouble if I lived closer to this place! Service is nice and friendly. Cheerful and helpful! read more

Usually food is good but today ordered thai-phoon and a salmon Nigiri. 10 minutes home and it was very fishy and just not good at all. So I called the restaurant to let them know...just bc I am a supervisor at several offices in tow., and would like to know when service was not good. Instead of an apology i was told too bad and they just plain hung up on me. We were going there tomorrow with a party of 10...which we know can be a wait...but hey we go there a lot, we will not be going. Going to Ivan's now. Ill never go there again. They didnt even say thanks for letting us know. Well make sure thst doesnt happen again. Visiting from Florida and this was one of the yummiest places I've tried in North Carolina! We ordered the kimchi fries which we devoured within literally 5 minutes. Honestly the best kimchi fries I've ever had!!! We also ordered the crab cake roll to share and that was incredible as well. For my entree I ordered the Katana style chicken with mixed veggies and it was soo good! They even give you a good helping of yum yum sauce which is my fav. This has happened the past 4 times I've gone there. Food has no flavor, no sauce and chicken is as dry as the Sahara dessert. It would make sense if I ordered this with no sauce or flavor or seasoning but I in fact asked for extra sauce. Got sushi and some apps last night, and while we didn't take any pics this time, the food was overall pretty good. Average to decent price, about what we would expect to pay for a sushi meal. Salisbury has a nice vibe, and although I doubt this is the best in the area, it was the only one I found to be open on Sunday (not that it was a super exhaustive search or anything.) They are currently takeout only still, and they have a drive-thru window which was quite busy. I went in through the back door, which apparently I wasn't supposed to do despite the lack of any signage. I ordered online through their website, and my order was correct and ready on time. Staff were wearing masks, but front staff were not wearing gloves. I couldn't see the kitchen staff. I left and they locked the door behind me to discourage anyone else from coming in through the back. Food itself was good, but I think some of it suffered because of the drive time. Lotus chips were chewy, but again I think things like that would have been nice and crisp if we ate them right away. Ka-bang shrimp was nice and spicy, but the crab salad needed a sauce. We tossed it in some extra ka-bang sauce, and that worked out well. Chicken wings in their katana sauce was very good too. We also got several sushi rolls, including the euphoria roll, make me scream roll, and the roll with scallop on top (can't recall the name at the moment.) which were all very good but probably better if they had been consumed on site rather than sitting for the 20 minute drive home. I'd recommend them if you're in Salisbury or Lexington on a Sunday and craving sushi. They also have hibachi meals that we didn't try. I can't say they're better than Hakkachow for best sushi in the area, but still good. read more

It takes a long time to get your sushi and the other menu items are pretty average. Every server I've had has been polite though.
