I love that Kate did such a meticulous detailed job of removing my old gel without damaging the nails. She's also the only one that is careful at removing my cuticles. Everyone else I've seen in past, it was always some discomfort or even painful. I like that she doesn't rush and really take her time to shape each nail and did a fantastic job for my cat eye. At the end, she also give a very nice strong massage on your hand. Hands down, she's the best that I've seen and my experience was amazing!!! Try once and you will see what I mean. Your nails will love you. Her place is also very clean and inviting with sofa, so whoever you are with can rest while they wait for you.
So much detail to prep and nail shape. Kept asking if everything was okay whether it be about pain, shape, or gel curing heat. I asked for silver gel and since she didn't have that in gel, she gave so so many other options that she would top coat with gel. Basically she made it work and gave me exactly what I wanted. Very clean and hygienic.
Kate is so wonderful and talented and gentle. Have been fiending for new nails after a rough semester having no time and I'm so glad I found her. She's a 1-woman shop and gets booked up so definitely book an appointment in advance. She takes her time making sure you like your shape and colors and is a pro for sure. I made another appointment on the spot after we were finished bc it's so hard to find a good nail tech nowadays. 10/10! The place is so clean, bright, and the music she puts on is so relaxing. I will be back!
Kate was super nice and patient with the design I wanted. Love my nails!! Her salon/workspace was very clean, peaceful, and relaxing. She didn't pressure me into choosing a design, and was upfront about the costs for each add on. In the end, my nail set was definitely of a higher quality than that if a traditional salon, while coming in at a lower price. Will definitely be going back!
So glad I found Kate's page on Yelp! I've been looking for a nail tech who specializes in gel nail art ever since I got my nails done in Korea. She was able to perfect the nails I asked for and was very meticulous with her work. I appreciated the time she took to make sure everything was neat and well prepped before the gel application. I also appreciated how she constantly checked in on me to make sure I was doing okay and if everything she was doing was what I wanted. Her salon is a private room that is super tidy and relaxing with spa music in the background. I will definitely be going back!
I was looking for a nail salon or artist to do Korean / Japanese style gel designs, and I'm so happy I stumbled upon Kate's yelp page! I showed her a picture of a design I wanted, and she executed it perfectly! I'm so happy with how my nails turned out the picture does not do it justice. Kate really takes the time to make sure your nails (shape and length) are exactly how you want them before working on the design, she also fixed two of my nails that were starting to break before painting them. She checks to make sure you're happy with the color and design on one nail before working on the rest too. This was my first visit, but I'll definitely be back again!

She is clearly a master of even the most intricate designs! And I like that the salon is just her so that you get individualized attention and nothing feels rushed. For SNS removal (previous set) plus a more difficult gel design, the total came out to $75 before tip which is not too bad for the area.

I AM NO LONGER GATEKEEPING MY FAVORITE NAIL ARTIST. My friends (yes, FRIENDS - plural) and I have been going to Kate for at least like 2 years now religiously every month. We have also gotten our other friends to come to Kate and they also love her. Kate is an independent nail artist and is absolutely amazing at what she does. She pays attention to detail, will take time to prepare your nails properly (including proper gel removal that won't damage your nails), and is super sweet and mindful all around. You will notice the difference between her service and a typical nail salon you go to. I certainly did, along with the amazing results she produces.. this and her insanely low prices compared to nail salons (I would be paying around $200 at other salons for the same complicated designs I get vs less than $100) are what got me and many others hooked. SHE ONLY DOES GEL (no extensions) BUT LISTEN UP FOLKS.. the gel she uses is so STRONG. I used to think only SNS could keep my nails long and strong but NO. I keep my naturally long nails now with her gel and they rarely break.. and I have WEAK thin nails. So if you want long nails but currently have short nails, just go and get a cute manicure from Kate and the next time you go to her your nails will be long and you can have a naturally long nailed manicure. Once you go to KATE you can NEVER go back. read more

I'm a 55 year old guy who never had his nails done before, but decided to try it once just for fun. I didn't know any of the terminology or what was possible, so I just came in with a hodgepodge of design ideas. Kate made the whole process very easy from picking out the colors and clarifying the designs through to the end. I have no idea what this kind of work would typically cost, but I felt the total was very reasonable for the quality work that was done. Parking was easy at the location and the room was easy to find. As a one-person operation it was a calm, quiet environment and Kate was very friendly and nice to work with. I've gotten lots of random compliments on my nails, which is obviously something I never experienced before. I like it! So even though I was thinking of this as a one time thing I could see myself going back. It's been three weeks and they all still look great. read more

Just had an appointment today and gosh -- I will 100% be a regular here. Located in a strip mall, Kate is absolutely excellent at her craft. I brought in a couple different pics of what I wanted to get done and she knocked it out of the ballpark. She has a variety of colors and different brands for gel polish -- if regular is your style, make sure you clear that or bring your own polish color. Kate is meticulous and extremely talented which is reflected in the outcome of my nails. As this was my first time here, I can't say on the longevity of the nails but based on the time and effort she put into them (and how evenly she applied each layer), I can say they will last at least two weeks. If gel nails with design is what you're after, this is the right place! read more

Kate is amazing!! I have been going to her for a while now and I can never go back to regular nail salons again after meeting her. She takes her time and does not rush and makes sure you are happy with your nails throughout the appointment. She is so talented and is always able to do the design I want. I am so happy that I listened to all of the yelp reviews and went ahead in making an appointment with Kate. I've been struggling to find someone who is good at complex nail art without costing you an arm and a leg! I am excited to say that I believe Kate is the perfect fit. Her work space is very simple, organized and calm. She works independently so I love how you get that 1-1 personal attention. Kate always asked if I was satisfied with what she was doing and pays great detail to the designs you want. She's also incredibly gentle! I believe if she had an Instagram page then she would be famous! But for now, all I can do is praise her work through her Yelp page. I normally never write a review but Kate continues to impress me after over a year of getting my nails done by her. She's patient with me whenever I get indecisive over a design and offers awesome suggestions on how to make the design more to my liking. When I get a design with gems, they never fall off! Kate is AMAZING! I just moved to the area and was looking for someone who specializes in gel nail art, and Kate was the most recommended, and for good reason! I managed to snag an early morning appointment after someone canceled and got a full gel manicure. She was so nice and considerate, always making sure I liked my nail shape and the color. She was very efficient and made sure I liked my design too after I showed her inspiration pictures! I would highly recommend her, definitely try and get a booking with her sooner than later as she gets booked up fast! read more

I am surprised that this place has existed for three years and I've never heard of it. I am totally blown away by Kate today, my first time there. She gets what I want immediately and executed it perfectly. She is super skilled in nail art. I can tell she has been doing this for a good amount of time. Kate is my nail artist for life. I won't go to any other nail salons any more. I am extremely happy with the result. Highly recommend it!! read more

I've been going to kate for almost 2 years now. She is the best nail artist and i never had bad experience with her. Im a big fan of going to small independent nail salons vs big ones that feel like a nail factory. From simple to design Kate can do it all. She is so detailed and patient. She takes her time and always makes sure you leave with nothing but only flawless nails ( a massage at the end is the best too!) price is really reasonable and I think it cheaper than a lot of businesses around the area too. Talented beyond measure, she is a perfectionist. I sent her a design and she executed it perfectly. I think she works mostly with gel, so keep that in mind. She does mostly nail art, not nail enhancements from my understanding. That's a bummer because if she could do my acrylic nails as well as design them, I would have no need to go anywhere else. I accidentally missed my first appointment and she was so nice enough to book me for the next day. Shes great. Definitely, hands down will use for all of my designs which I get often. I'm in love. I model for a plus size subscription box service so my hands and feet have to always be flawless. EVERYONE loved this pedi. Here is a photo that one of the girls took for me. read more

Sou Nail Art is by far the best nail salon in the DMV area and here are why I think this place is the best. -For a resonable price, Kate does such an amazing job especially with light nail colors(pastel/white)(and of course she does with all the other colors), with which I had horrible experiences at other nail salons. I found from my past experiences that those light colors can carry a very messy look when the colors are applied on the nails not consistently or when cuticles are not removed well. Kate makes sure the colors are applied thoroughly and consistently, and nails are clean free of any cuticles. She uses a electric manicure nail file grinder to get rid of cuticles-no water is invloved. This is very convenient and provides so much cleaner slates for the colors than the traditional way(soaking). -She pays attention to details. She takes time to shape the nails, and offers to apply several layers of colors and top-coat if this results the optimal look. -She is technical. You bring pictures of nail designs you like, and she will bring the nails to your life. -The nail salon is quiet and private. Every visit to her salon is soothing and relaxing. She usually takes one customer at a time and you don't need to hear unnecessary personal stories of other customers sitting next to you. Overall, I highly recommend Sou Nail Art to anyone who wants to have his/her nails on point. I have gotten so many compliments on my nails from people. read more
